Welcome The Village of Wappingers Falls Recreation Committee would like to invite all members of the community to come and enjoy our many events, programs and parks. We are a dedicated group of volunteers who strive to enhance our community through arts, parks and programming. If you enjoy fishing, kayaking, swinging, sports or just the relaxing stroll, we have the parks for you. The Greenway Trail also meanders through the village for the more adventurous type. The youth art program and day camp enhance our children’s summer. Come out and meet your neighbors at one of our Friday night summer concerts or relax at an ourdoor movie. I would like to thank Averill & Associates for creating this 2015 Recreation Guide. Make sure you keep it handy so you don’t miss any of our events! Please visit the local businesses that placed ads. A multitude of special events are offered throughout the year culminating with our increasingly popular Holiday Light Parade. The Recreation Committee always welcomes new members. If you have a few good ideas or a couple of hours to help us bring our community together, stop into a meeting. Recreation meets on the third Monday of each month at 7pm in the Legion Hall, 7 Spring Street. Like us on Facebook – Wappingers Falls Events!

Mesier Homestead

Mesier Homestead is the jewel of Wappingers Falls. Built in 1741 by the Brewer brothers, the Homestead, was one of the first homes in the area. In 1776 a well-to-do, loyalist tea merchant from New York City, Peter Mesier, purchased the home and 750 acres of land. His family lived in the home until it was sold to the village in 1891. Read all about the history at www.wappingershistoricalsociety.org. The Wappingers Historical Society asks for your support. Members and Volunteers are always needed and welcome. I hope you will come enjoy a tour of the Homestead. We are open the second Sunday of the month from 1 to 4 pm and by appointment. We also have numerous events throughout the year, visit our online calendar or call us for more information.
