SHINJUKU GRAND HOTEL
LOCATION SHINJUKU, JAPAN PROJECT TIME 4 MONTHS STUDIO V/ GROUP PROJECT 4
30-Story Luxury Hotel & Spa For this project, we were given the exterior shell of a 30-story building. Shinkuku Grand Hotel is inspired by aquatic elements in its design and is reflected through curvilinear forms, material and textures. The curvature throughout the hotel express the motions of water representing energy and circulation. Polished reflective materials are inspired by the sea’s reflectivity and sparkle, while it’s transparency inspires the delicate panels that replace rigid walls. Shades of indigo paired with brass and lacquered wood form the basis of a simple palate that is calm and clean. The elegance of Shinjuku aims to ease the roughness of a fast paced urban culture. Team members: Avery Castellow, Paris Alizadeh, Jin Lee, Brenda Huynh Programs used: AutoCAD 2014, Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator, 3DS Max

RESTAURANT Located on the second floor of the Shinjuku Grand Hotel, Hono is a robata grill restaurant insipired by the warmth and flames given off by fire. This warmth is achieved through use of woods, colors, deep hues and lighting. The robata grill is the main focus upon entering the restaurant and curved wooden pieces snake across the ceiling all throughout reflecting the flames from the grill.

INTERNATIONAL EXHIBITION DESIGN
LOCATION ITALY PROJECT TIME 1 MONTH STUDIO IV
Italian Leather Manufacturer Presentation board exhibited in La Mostra Art Show in Cortona, Italy. Pelle Conciata al Vegetale in Toscana is a consortium of 23 tanneries located between Pisa and Florence. Reviving ancient techniques of vegetable tanning and employing secret tannin recipes, this consortium uses all natural products that respect nature. The sweeping walls of this exhibit reflect the hand craftsmanship of their work and the products made of their leather. The central structure references wood tanning drums used in historical processes and the juxtaposition of traditional materials and contemporary lines emphasizes the importance of time-honored techniques used today. Programs used: AutoCAD 2014, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop

MTC LAW FIRM
LOCATION ATHENS, GA PROJECT TIME 4 MONTHS STUDIO III
General Practice Law For this project, I wanted to incorporate the mix of old and new knowledge that is required to be successful in the legal profession in my design. The red-orange focal color mixed with clean grays and neutral tones is sharp, bold and conveys alertness needed to stay on track. Combining modern elements with more rustic, natural ones mimics the idea of past and present knowledge. Clean, sharp lines and edges throughout represent the professionalism needed in a law firm while the changing angles and brightness prevent it from becoming too tense and make it a bit more casual.

CABIN RENOVATION
LOCATION MANITOULIN, CANADA PROJECT TIME 4 MONTHS STUDIO II
Remodeling/ expansion incorporating universal design. The Bunkie is a hunting cabin in Manitoulin, Canada in which Mr. and Mrs. Smith have retired to. Scenery and the outdoors are one of the most important factors of this project and the space will be a focal point of the entire property, reflecting the lake and beauty of the nature around it. While the cabin is clearly defined upon its landscape, it complinents its surroundings by using natural materials, an open floor plan and an expanse of glass to allow the indoor and outdoor spaces to merge seamlessly. Project featured in Volume 7, Issue 2 of The International Journal of Architectonic, Spatial and Environmental Design. Skills/ programs used: Autodesk Revit, hand drafting & rendering
PARTI DIAGRAM
CONCEPT SKETCHES
CONCEPT The concept for the overall structure of the “Bunkie stemmed from the lines and patterns formed from nature. Referencing natural textures and materials, shapes began to take place creating a footprint fusing modern elements with the environment creating a simple design that strays from the typical hunting cabin.
