BUSY TIMES AT ACC COLUMBIA JET SERVICE COLOGNE

As in all Part-145 maintenance facilities, ACC COLUMBIA Jet Service GmbH is also regularly confronted with unforeseen maintenance events requiring a huge flexibility and a lot of experience in processing non-routine repair jobs. In the recent past we welcomed a Bombardier Challenger 604 in the facility at Cologne Bonn Airport due to an A.O.G. situation with massive damage to the airframe caused by water that flowed from the lavatory along the entire cabin floor.

In order to clean and dry the aircraft the complete cabin interior had to be disassembled first and both forward and auxiliary tanks were removed with help of a special tool. Furthermore, all isolation blankets and cushions were taken out for replacement. The cleaning of the water spillage that had flowed into any gap in the cabin was carried out strictly according to the manufacturer’s specifications. Before reinstallation of the cabin interior the professionally cleaned carpet was laid to complete the job. After an additional huge scheduled maintenance check the aircraft was released to service on time.

Since 1 January 2021 as a result of Brexit, owners of UK registered aircraft can largely only use a maintenance organization holding a UK issued 145 approval as all transition exemptions have expired. ACC COLUMBIA Jet Service GmbH applied in advance for a UK 145 approval, allowing us to continuously serve our UK customers. Subsequently we were delighted to support a customer with regards to a pre-purchase inspection (PPI) Level I on a G-registered Bombardier Challenger 605 performed in the Cologne hangar. During the prepurchase inspection the maintenance team checked all aspects of the aircraft relevant to the customer’s purchase requirements. During these types of Maintenance events, a close cooperation with the buyer is a necessary requirement for the optimal PPI including operational checks, detailed inspections, visual or borescope inspections of various systems and aircraft parts. The PPI report was issued in time and the maintenance team will now support the customer with re-registration of the aircraft. We expect our customer to leave the maintenance facility satisfied enjoying his new aircraft.

As everybody at ACC COLUMBIA Jet Service always puts the customer’s needs and expectations at the forefront of our focus, the entire team is always ready to face any challenge, and support you, the customer to the best of our ability – routine or non-routine.
