Dear Colleague,

On behalf of Aviation Week Network, I’m pleased to welcome you to Aero-Engines Europe 2023. In partnership with Iberia Maintenance, our team is excited to bring this event to Madrid and to be providing you with the latest insights, analysis and discussions, as well as critical networking opportunities.

2023 has presented a range of significant challenges for the engine MRO community. Durability problems on next generation engines combined with delivery delays has spurred renewed activity in the legacy fleet, prompting inventive and creative solutions to extend maintenance and leasing on those assets. However, a continued lack of parts repair capacity and labor shortages have kept turnaround times high. With no relief expected until 2024 at the earliest, the opportunities at this conference to collaborate and network with partners is more important than ever.

Across the week, we encourage all attendees to engage with the discussions, to ask questions and take part in live polling. Across the event, we will be using the Slido platform, which can be accessed by visiting www.slido.com on any device and entering the code ‘#AEEUR’.

Additionally, we would like to take this opportunity to remind all conference attendees to sign into the Brella event platform. This is where you can see the event

attendee list and set up meetings to reconnect with friends and peers, and to make new connections. You can see all the details on how to access Brella on page 30.

Aviation Week Network would like to thank our host sponsor, Iberia Maintenance for their support of the conference, for welcoming us to Madrid and for opening the doors of their engine maintenance facility on Thursday afternoon. We would also like to thank our premium sponsors, elfc, ITP Aero, Ramco Systems and SES Ltd, as well as our sponsors HAECO & Mitiga Solutions. The backing of all our sponsors helps us to all gather here this week.

Thank you to our speakers, for sharing your time and expertise, we appreciate your joining us.

Finally, to our attendees, thank you for being here in Madrid. We hope you take full advantage of the opportunities at this event for both networking and learning. We’re glad to have you here, and hope you enjoy the conference.

ITP Aero

Powering the most efficient engine programmes in the world

ITP Aero is at the forefront of the most revolutionary developments in air propulsion. The company’s commitment to R&D has positioned it as a world leading aeronautic propulsion company and a trusted partner in the most environmentally friendly, clean and green aero engine programmes currently in service. Today, ITP Aero is an independent global company, since Bain Capital took ownership of ITP Aero in September 2022, focused on its proprietary technology and industrial growth plan, expanding its facilities and global industrial footprint, both in the commercial and defence markets.

Initiatives driving the future of aviation

The evolutionary technological progress in commercial aviation to date have been of great importance, mainly focused on reducing the carbon footprint of platforms and engines.

Within the single aisle segment, ITP Aero participates as a risk and revenue sharing partner (RRSP) in Pratt & Whitney’s GTF™ engine programme, developing the quietest, greenest and most efficient engine family for single-aisle aircraft, with more than 1,300 aircraft in service and more than 15 million engine flight hours to date.

In double aisle, ITP Aero is also a RRSP for the entire Rolls-Royce Trent engine family, a long-standing partnership between the two companies that

started more than 30 years ago. As a result, ITP Aero’s turbines power more than half of the world’s twin-aisle aircraft. Another key milestone of this partnership is the design, manufacture, assembly and delivery of the first intermediate pressure turbine for Rolls-Royce’s UltraFan demosntrator, which has recently gone through its first test bench tests running on 100% sustainable aviation fuel.

ITP Aero’s key role in the decarbonisation of aviation

In addition to optimising the propulsive efficiency of leading engines in the aviation industry, ITP Aero is also involved in the development of tomorrow’s carbon-free flights, based on the conviction that the future of aviation lies in the pursuit of alternative propulsion systems, excellence in manufacturing technologies and digitalisation.

In this context, ITP Aero is leading a consortium of companies, technology centres and universities that is developing a hydrogen-powered aircraft engine. As part of this pioneering project, ITP Aero is designing and building a unique open air test bench to carry out the first tests on this engine in 2025.

ITP Aero is also laying the grounds of hybrid electric propulsion technology through other initiatives, leading different consortiums of companies, technology centres and leading universities. These ground-breaking projects prove that the proprietary technologies developed by ITP Aero have a key role to play in the decarbonisation of aviation.

With 90+ Aviation organizations onboard, Ramco is the solution of choice for leading MROs, Heli operators, defense companies, UAS/Drones, and eVTOLs around the world.

Ramco’s engine MRO solution helps in digitally transforming complex Engine MRO processes. The integrated solution helps in a wide range of functions from induction planning to customer delivery & invoicing. Advanced capabilities such us digital task cards, kitting & due parts tracking, configuration control, scalable and configurable repair schemes, critical path & turnaround time management, mobile work execution and automated invoicing help in eliminating paper and inefficiencies. The below 5-step process further details how the solution simplifies and adds value to the entire Engine MRO process.

Digitalization of OEM documents:

The e-Publication module can process the PDF-based, XML/SGML-based technical documents. Also, with its Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) capabilities, it can access the OEM manual library from the place of work through secure logins and API interfaces. This increases the operational efficiencies, by reducing the time and effort required to process the technical contents.

Smart automation:

Engine maintenance processes generate wealth of data pertaining to the defects, parts consumed, labor hours, elapsed time to carry out the repair and overhaul procedure. Accumulated over time, this data can become a goldmine of information to gain insights. Our solution derives the insights in all key processes and help customers gain an edge over competition.

Mobility-enabled shop floor work execution: Our Mechanic Anywhere mobile app helps mechanics to book time, report findings, request parts and tools, and access the technical documents from the place of work. It also helps to collaborate with fellow technicians through chat, videocall, screenshare from the same device. With the required regulatory approvals, the app future proofs your operations with digital sign-off.

Ecosystem Integration:

The seamless flow of data between the ecosystem partners such as suppliers, contractors, shipping partners, banks is essential for augmenting operational efficiency. Ramco enables a robust customer ecosystem through EDI, customer portal and apps, thus providing the dual advantage of boosting efficiency and improving value to the customers.

Real-time KPI monitoring:

Our integrated data analytics provides KPIs related to TAT, quality, cost, resource utilization, and warranties and are computed dynamically without any need for manual consolidation and preparation. This makes way for a transparent and timely availability of insights for better decision-making.
