11:00am Cybersecurity in the Age of Digital Transformation
Cybersecurity is the bedrock foundational requirement for successful digital transformation. In all aspects of business, there are tremendous benefits from digitization. However, with those benefits, there is a corresponding increase in risk. Compounding this challenge is the fact that there is also an increasingly complex compliance environment, both domestically and internationally, that we see in the everchanging regulatory and commercial contract landscape. This session will identify some of the risks associated with a digital transformation, address current industry practices to safely and effectively manage those risks, walk through some of the more-recent regulatory and commercial cybersecurity requirements, and provide an overview and takeaways for establishing compliance.
Alexandra Zofia Landegger, Executive Director & CISO, Collins Aerospace
11:30am Panel: Cybersecurity in Connected Aircraft
Hacking is a growth industry, and while the exponential increase in data points and transfers between aircraft, airports, sensors, and cabins has driven significant efficiencies, the risks remain substantial. This session will review the infrastructure and skills required to mitigate this hazard and avoid the significant damage a cyber attack could have on your company and reputation.

Natural Language Processing in Airline Maintenance Operations
There are numerous applications of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in maintenance. It may indeed lead to a paradigm shift in maintenance planning and execution. While processing of sensor data gets a lot of attention in the area, there is also a large opportunity to use computers to do voice transcription and text analytics. Full-blown Natural Language Processing (NLP) in this area will lead to faster execution and faster and more accurate documentation. Tassio Carvalho, Senior Manager Operations Research, American Airlines
4:15pm Panel: Utilizing Analytics in Operations
With the volume of data collected on a single transatlantic flight amounting to hundreds of terabytes, collection, storage, and analytics are crucial to informing both immediate troubleshooting and longer-term decisions in maintenance and design. What tools and strategies are available to ensure effective data management and to enable all parts of an organization to use data?

The Global Digital Aircraft Maintenance Registry – Standardising Aircraft Maintenance Data
The Irish prime minister (An Taoiseach) will shortly launch a unique Aviation Academy formed of the University of Limerick (UL), the Irish Aviation Authority Air Navigation Services Provider and the Statutory Regulator. Parallel to this action, the University is embarking on the development of a Global Digital Aircraft Maintenance Registry (GDAMR) which will provide the aviation industry with a University housed database aimed at protecting and enhancing aircraft asset value through whole of life. The model will use Universal Unique Identifiers (UUIDs) to uniquely identify and authenticate maintenance tasks, manuals, compliance documents, components and assemblies from manufacture right through. This session details our vision for using the GDAMR to enable seamless maintenance data transfers, automate compliance monitoring, validate maintenance data, and facilitate development of UUID based Dirty Fingerprints.

EmpowerMX
EmpowerMX is a cloud-based, mobile-first, software-as-a-service (SaaS) solution used by the world’s leading airlines, MROs, and manufacturers, in order to more efficiently plan and execute aircraft maintenance. We offer solutions for heavy maintenance, line maintenance, materials management, shops management, records, and more. Throughout the industry, EmpowerMX has been known to be highly agile and adaptive to customer needs and systems integrations. We are not just a software solution. We are a partner. Today, EmpowerMX helps facilitate 5,000 maintenance visits a year with 2,000,000 hours a month. In the United States alone, we are supporting nearly 50% of all commercial flights.
In 1999, EmpowerMX launched its first software solution, focused on MRO production control. Since then, EmpowerMX has grown significantly. Expanding beyond the United States, EmpowerMX is now a global service provider that is known for increasing efficiencies. Without effective planning and production control, maintenance functions can be highly inefficient. Published case studies suppor t a 20% increase after implementing EmpowerMX MRO Manager, resulting in lower turn times.
With lower turn times, more checks can be done in the same amount of time. As throughput increases, airlines can outsource less work by doing more themselves. MROs also benefit by increasing revenue and margins. It is not uncommon for an MRO to increase profits by $10,000,000 a year. In many cases, EmpowerMX guarantees efficiency gains.
Our technical and non-technical competencies stem from our origins as an aircraft maintenance industryinspired software development startup owned and operated by aircraft maintenance industry experts. Since then, we have surrounded our aircraft maintenance specialists with the IT experts that have allowed us to mature and focus on supporting only the aircraft maintenance industry.
Building on the foundation of production control, we’ve added new products that enable the mechanic’s ultimate efficiency, such as Electronic Task Cards, on-the-job training (OJT), Material Manager, Shop Manager, Integrations, and more. We’ve spent the last two decades listening to mechanics, leads, supervisors, and base leadership in order to fine-tune our existing products and expand our portfolio of offerings where they add true value to customers.
As we’ve implemented at major airlines, we’ve become industry leaders in integration, allowing our products to fit seamlessly into customers’ existing software solutions, taking advantage of the latest in mobile and cloud, while still supporting traditional desktop and in-house infrastructure, our latest software enables our customers to access information where they need it most.
