LACKING ENERGY? Feeling sick or sore from a workout? Whatever your body needs, intravenous (IV) therapy is the latest antidote to what ails you. IV therapy involves the administration of fluids, vitamins, minerals and other nutrients infused directly into the bloodstream, bypassing the digestive system.

This health alternative has gained popularity among those trying to improve their overall health, plus athletes and individuals involved in sports thanks to its potential benefits for performance and recovery.

Jessica Hackney, franchise owner of the Hydrate IV Bar in Highlands Ranch, suggests its Athletic Performance IV—a one-liter saline concoction made up of vitamin B (complex), glutathione, magnesium and calcium. “This is the all-in-one for athletes and fitness fans, and anyone always on the go,” Hackney says.

With one liter of saline inside every one of its IVs, Hackney says any of the Hydrate IV Bar signature cocktails would be great for replenishing the fluids lost during a workout. But this mixture helps further to aid in many other facets important to athletic performance.

“The B complex is good for the nervous system and energy,” she says. “While the glutathione is an antioxidant that is naturally produced in our liver and in general helps with inflammation. So, this will help with any tissue injury or inflammatory issues.” She recommends getting this IV one to three days before a big race to enjoy the peak effects of the infusion.

Hackney also recommends, as an add-on to the athletic performance IV, the NAD+ infusion. This fluid is essentially vitamin B3 broken down into its most usable form, and when infused, it goes directly to your cells, creating energy at the cellular level. This will help you with everything including performance, energy and mood.

The cumulative effects of NAD+ is enough to regenerate cells to get you back to peak health. But if you’re looking to enhance your performance for a particular event, one dose is all you need.
