SEE YOU IN SEPTEMBER
SEPTEMBER BRINGS back memories of back to school, a new commitment to work, fall foliage and gives a nod to the upcoming holidays.
In my New York City days, September also meant the excitement and buzz of New York Fashion Week where I produced trend composites for designers and lifestyle and beauty brands. Although I miss the excitement of each show—being front of house with celebs and backstage with stylists—I’m happy to say those days are behind me. Working 16-hour days for two weeks, running around the entire city, fighting for interviews, editing video content and pitching stories to media outlets without time to eat or even sit for that matter. It was an annual endurance test that was a rite of passage for a young media maven in training.
But with 9 years to recover from the mayhem, I can focus on the thrill of it all. I still get excited with the thought of suede boots, cashmere sweaters and jewel-tone makeup, hobknobbing with the likes of Fern Mallis (aka the Godmother of Fashion) and late-night dinners and drinks in the West Village with designers, models—those glittering moments of pure NYC magic.
Today, we take in some fall trends at Park Meadows Retail Resort. With the temps still high, these pieces can transition from summer to fall and even early winter. And after 25 years of retail therapy, Park Meadows has become the cornerstone of the south suburb community. We spoke with GM Pam Kelly about the impact of Park Meadows yesterday, today and tomorrow.
With the change of season, it’s also time to look at skincare routines to combat dryness and extend that summer glow. And to welcome those autumn vibes, we’ll talk with experts on how to spruce up your entryway and accessorize your home. Plus, we look at how we live today and how those habits impact kitchen design trends.
Also, we chatted with famed Chef Alex Seidel about his favorite fall foods and recipes, and even savored some fall farmer’s market harvests.
Indian Summer also offers warm days and cooler nights so it’s the perfect time for a fall get-away. From Scottsdale to Snowmass, Taos to Palisade, you'll want to pack your bags right away.
And although we bid adieu to summer with September, there’s so much to do this Fall. With a jam-packed calendar of events, as sung by The Happenings way back in the 1960s, Will I See You in September? I sure do hope so!
With Gratitude,
