To whom it may concern,
I am fortunate to have known Avinash Mangukiya as a student in my studio at Arizona State University’s Master of Architecture program during the fall semester of 2020. During the program, Avinash exhibited great optimism and joy for architecture, combined with his excellence in resolving ideas. He quickly familiarizes himself with project parameters, focusing on the critical ideas and their application. He is articulate, goaloriented, and highly efficient in his work methods. Avinash possesses an excellent work ethic, rigor and attention to detail, and is quick to learn and grow. He is a self-motivated and responsible young designer with exceptional skills, and will make an excellent addition to any office. Should there be any further questions that I can assist with, please do not hesitate to contact me directly – id@loharchitects.com

FIRE STATION 22
AT PHOENIX, ARIZONA SEMESTER 2) (M. ARCH) Fire station 22 is located in south phoenix. The structure is a wrap-around courtyard space where a sense of private space created in the fire station for firefighters. Application of concepts like biophilia, automation louvered system, and NetZero energy inside the station that creates the structure more efficient and sustainable with mental stress factor, the courtyard space in the centre which is wrapped around by the structure warps around it. This warp around concept helps the fire station add contrast to its surroundings, by mimicking mountain ranges in the elevation. The structure is more of an attractive place for the community to engage with. There is an upcoming future expansion of light rail on the east side of the site, hence bringing in more visitors to the south phoenix and adding development to the regions.

CONCEPT
Site analysis, helped for the analysis of crowd and sound generated from them, hence assisting in positioning of the masses.
Undulating roof folds has been inspired by the Sketch and horizon line of the mountains which can be seen from the site.
Sketch inspired by the undulating mountains in the horizon , which can be observed from the site
Radiation diagram from lady bird further helps to understand the requirement of facade system in the south side
Massing and layout according to the program and site analysis. Away from the busy street and future expansion of the light rail, hence creating a park between the fire station and upcoming light rail.
Courtyard space is introduced in between, Hence bringing in light and a sense of private space for firefighters. Covered all the sides of the courtyard with semi-private and private Space, Which creates a sense of structure warping around it.
Fusing massing with the idea of the sketch and experimenting with the hieghts, space, lighting and splope of the structure for an undulating feel of the structure
Application of light sensor hexagonal panels on the south side of the design for reducing radiation gain.

RESEARCH INSTITUTE FOR AUTOMOTIVE ENGINEERS (ENVOLOPE DEThe brief for the project outlined designing a envelope for the parking structure, in one of the prime urban areas of phoenix downtown. The project aimed to design a envelope for the same structures with institutional functions. The project is situated to south of phoenix city, its an adaptive reuse project where the challenge was adaptive reuse of a garage and historic structure without disrupting the structural properties. It’s a car centric structure which derived the concept of motivational space for engineers and encourages them to innovate and think creatively. The structural elements are re-used and with extra layer of facade and automation system is added to make the space more habitual for humans, hence form is more derived from the aerodynamic curves of the cars.

INTERMODAL HIGH-SPEED RAIL TERMINAL BANDRA KURLA COMPLEX (THESIS)
The project aims to propose an inter-modal high-speed rail station complex in Bandra Kurla Complex (Mumbai) for an upcoming Ahmedabad-Mumbai corridor. By reviewing existing data on international HSR station, drawing lessons and best practices from international case studies. This project also proposes a Community urban park with a Business model of Public-private partnership for the smooth operation of this project. Intermodal HSR will become a gateway to the railway network and improving the existing rail network in terms of commercial speeds and quality of services- create more capacity for passenger services. This project has been inspired by the idea of morphing the ground with structures, park amenities and creating an impact on the area where it gives the message of welcoming this technology and provide a framework of sensual uplift for the community through this project.

MUMBAI CITY MUSEUM AT MAZGAON DOCKS
The intention of this project is the creation of a museum to encompass, display and tell the “story of mumbai” in an exhibit form, permanent (most of it) in nature. It shall intend to take its visitor through the experience of a few centuries shelled under one roof, with an engaging strategies & methods of communicating & telling this stimulating story of this megapolis. Mumbai is the business capital of india and is also one on the largest cities in the country. The present population of mumbai is estimated to be millions and is still growing. Mumbai is a modern metropolis whose history is now fast fading into obscurity. The history of this beautiful city dates back to the formation of the seven islands and the display of the same unbeatable spirit of mumbai, as it has risen over the severity of its past, looking to the future was conceptually taken as the base for further designing.

CONCEPT
Designing with massing the building away from the main street where the main goal is produce framing the view and creating the courtyard in center.
36
Tilting the massing and zoning layout to achieve maximum utilization of the surroundings.
Creating cantilever floor plate to create space below and to make the structure look as it is approaching on sea.
Experimenting with the form and roof to create land mark architecture structure that represents Mumbai history and its advancement to the future.

POLITICAL PARTY HEADQUARTERS AT MARINE DRIVE
The project entailed the design of the headquarters of a prominent political party and it must reflect an ambience conducive to securely conducting the political business, rallies, meetings etc yet being transparent to public interaction. The architecture project had a focus on architectural form and detailing, scale and proportion, structural systems, services and infrastructure, and building bye-laws. The core terms of growth and branches of the hierarchy had taken root during the evolving discussions and the project has been tackled with the base concept of a banyan tree, comprising of both hierarchy of branches and a nurturing spirit.

43
CONCEPT
The concept is derived from the roots of the trees, as the roots offer support to the tree much like the organizational structure provides a framework to support the many groups that work within an political organization.
Designing with massing the building away from the main street hence avoiding the noise and trying to create a backdrop to the building.
44
Layouting the massing and zoning according to the program. Where the structure is divided into three zone according to their noise and function criteria. Backdroping the structure creates a space in front, which can be used to address the community and party employee’s or party meetings can be held.
Separation of the blocks from each other and introducing a con-course area that connects the three-zone. Designing the recreational area above the accommodations provides a view to marine drive.
Applied the facade style derived from the tree to the structure.
