ARCHITECTURAL PORTFOLIO AVINASH I SELECTED WORKS 2017-2021
AVINASH S ARCHITECTURE STUDENT AT WADIYAR CENTRE FOR ARCHITECTURE MYSURU
My name is Avinash S, a present fourth-year undergraduate student at Wadiyar Centre for Architecture in Mysuru, India. Watching Megastructures: National Geograpgic channel on television to seeing images of skyscrapers on the front cover of books has fascinated me towards it’s technique, how it’s made, which has been an inspiration for me to work on design. The portfolio is a collection of selected works from the first three years in architecture school. It’s the resemblance of where I stand in the journey in this profession.

CITY LIBRARY AND MUSEUM SEM 07 I SUSTAINABLE ARCHITECTURE
Prof. Manoj Ladhad Prof. Anand Krishnamurthy Asst .Prof. Shantesh Kelvekar Asst. Prof. Pallavi Dhomse The semester’s focus calls for a public building in the realm of the Urban envelope. Under the shadow of the historic architecture and culture of the city of Jaipur. The direction of this studio is to gauge that the student is attuned to dealing with multiple issues of performative architecture alongside the base design idea, leading to an imaginative proposal. This studio is not about trying to achieve an objective score on fitting the requirement or designing an iconic building. But in achieving a design solution that combines simple logic, imagination, and street-smart pragmatism.

CASA DE PATRIMANIO SEM 05 I HERITAGE CENTER DESIGN
Prof.Ryan Thomas Prof. Srinivas S G The program arises out of observing the existing condition of the built heritage that is undergoing slow decay. Ways of rejuvenating the place were deliberated upon. this included queries regarding how to keep the culture and the built heritage alive. The program involves exploring ways of modulating scale to create a presence at the precinct level but an appropriate one at street level considering the proximity of the heritage buildings flanking the site. It would also have room to look at the source of heritage and dwell in means of expressing it architecturally. The task is to relook at this portion of the city with a comprehensive and with a more sympathetic small scale process of renewal/regeneration. Each site is comprised of 28 dwelling units (of varied socio-economic group). The aim is to give significance to the collective living through sharing spaces & infrastructure. The task also expects the design to be flexible in which each house is considered simultaneously as a unit (Unique) and in relation to the whole group, without losing the quality, rigor and standardization that the social housing requires. The stress is also on creating an identity or uniqueness for individual units without much variation in sizes. The varying volumes also help in experiencing the unbuilt at different times of the day. Emphasis is on climate to necessitate an inventiveness in the living patterns.

SEM 03 I GROUP WORK
Prof. Kukke Subramanya Asst Prof. Toshi Singh Asst Prof. Indu Panicker
An RSP aims to study a place (Ganapathi Agraharam) for its history, culture, people and architectural typologies. The study expects students to research enquire and analyze the place. Architecture is understood with respect to people and culture. The students understand indigenous typologies with respect to climate and socio-economic aspects. In the design studio, a site is choosen in the agraharam ,a befitting design program is derived based on the student’s understanding of theplace.
GANAPATHI AGRAHARAM : A small village of Papanasan taluk, Ganapathi Agraharam is situated in the district of Tanjavur, Tamil Nadu . 25km from the town of Kumbakonam. It affords a panoramic beauty due to its agricultural fields and the river Kaveri flowing by. The Sri Maha Ganapathi Temple, Sri Vardaraja Perumal temple, and a shiva temple can be found here. The Ganapathi temple was the main reason for this settlement to come into existence. CULTURE AND LIVING : This village revolves around the Lord Maha Ganapathi temple which sustained the Nayakar and Maratha rule. It is said to have been instituted by sage Agastya. Legend has it, that several centuries ago this land was affected by a drought. Gautama Maharishi was traveling through the village at this time. He was hailed as a savior and villages asked him for the rain to make the land fertile. The Maharshi appeased Lord Ganapathi with the sadatchara Mantra, bringing rain. River goddess Kaveri diverted herself through the village for a darshan of Ganapathi. The village became fertile and prospered due to the temple, hence the name. Another belief among the people is that Lord Ganesha was born here. The village is based on image worship as legend proclaims that idol worship led to the idol itself turning into snakes. This is why idols are not immersed during Ganesh Chaturthi. RESIDENCE : Agraharas are more humane, in a way that the house signifies the person, and the thinai welcome one and all. Thinnais are a thin line between the inside and outside and act as an extroverted space. This part of the house was generously donated to form a connection between the house and the stranger or traveler, to ensure interaction. Even now, thinnais are platforms of communication and sharing for the people. The idea of knowing your neighbour, gives a very friendly appeal to these settlements.
