There is little usable open space available within the community. This means that a majority of the celebrations during festivals occurs out on the streets which is the only open space disposable to the people.
A Project on Community Open Space Bombay Hotel - Pirana, Ahmedabad | December 2021
The project involved engaging with public open spaces of varying sizes and characters, to achieve an understanding of their evolution and present functioning. The intangible attributes of a space will also be studied, including it’s connections to the art and traditions of the place, and the cultural meanings that it holds for it’s varied set of users.

THE FORBIDDEN FOREST One Forest Hemkund Sahib | Uttarakhand | December 2020 The project was a study of the existing forest system and its several aspects such as spatial quality, heights, quality of light, clearings, presence of light and the temporal qualities of the forest experience were explored and represented using charcoal as a medium. Avneet Kaur|PORTFOLIO
The project looks at the idea of expanding and acknowledging the forest from within and beyond, in both a physical and metaphorical manner. From the stories of the dark dense forests came the concept of ‘forbidden’ as a boundary which should not be crossed. This was translated into the idea of identifying the Inconspicuous Edges of these Himalayan Alpine forests and its systems which in turn define the fragile ecoregions which should remain unhindered.

HIDDEN HERITAGE Seeding Streets | Hill Road, Bandra (West), Mumbai Hill Road, Bandra (West), Mumbai | April 2021 Streets in India have historically been social magnets. This project investigated how Indian streets could be adapted so that people can meet and interact, children can play, and at the same time make the people and the environment healthier. The project identified and proposed alternative ways to reimagine streets as public spaces in different cities as a site for social activity by creating landscape pockets, corridors, and nodes: Mumbai in this instance. CORRIDOR LEVEL INTERVENTION At a corridor level, the eastern half becomes a cultural gateway, connecting Bandra Station pedestrian activity to the markets and the heritage precinct in the western half of the site. The node can be tranformed into an urban gesture centered around the pedestrian’s experience of the street. The concept of connecting two levels to enhance pedestrian passage and engagement along the street can be implemented at each exit point of this foot over bridge.
Exploring the eastern half of the site, the strategies used are to create a more engaging experience for the pedestrian. One which makes the stretch more walkable and allows them to pause and engage more actively with the street edges. The footpath, primary movement spaces and stretch for engagement along the built forms, have been widened to allow increased activation.
Avneet Kaur|PORTFOLIO
NODE INTERVENTION
The node at the entrance of the corridor was designed with an insert, connecting two levels. This includes a foot over bridge, a median and a food street. The design is an 8 m wide median starting from the landing of the staircase coming down directly onto the middle of the 24 m street, with two plazas and an avenue flanked by trees.

While designing the landscape proposal for the commercial and retail project Elpro Mall. I designed a tree base detail for accomodating potted plants within the tiled flooring for the Mall Plaza in addition to designing the planting list under guidance of the Principal Architect.
The sections of Elpro Mall were challenging as they were carefully designed with a retaining wall running along the Northern facade which abutted the landscaping pockets. Here are some of the sections made in a sustainable design developing an individual design acumen.

Working in a Landscape design firm, I have dabbled in landscape projects of different scales. With APCRDA I was given the chance to work in tandem with Master planning project as well, visualizing the landscape design proposal for Andhara Pradesh Capital Regional Authority.

understanding the site
Design layout options designed for a small scale terrace garden at ICICI Prudential Offices at Prabhadevi. The opportunity of working on a commercial project led me to various permutations in my design exploration.
As part of a research team with seven other architects, we designed a proposal for the Urban void and unused space under Bandra Reclamation flyoverin Mumbai as a multipurpose public pavillion.
