A WORK IN PROGRESS, A WORK OF ART

After the Black Lives Matter protest in Grand Rapids, Michigan on May 30th 2020, artists from across the west side of the state showcased artwork on a myriad of buildings. Art speaks volumes and helps us remember events that have happened throughout time. The art that is showcased on plywood, where windows once were gives a chance to connect and understand what the tragedy of George Floyd and the Black Lives Matter movement means to the people of Grand Rapids. The project that was once a work in progress is now a work of art and an invitation to a new dialogue and a better approach to community and justice. - Providence B.
