As Health Alert Publication points out: “Scientists Are Tired of Explaining Why the Covid-19 Virus Was Not Made in a Lab.”

It all seems a conspiracy rumor that just will not go away. One only need to take a look at the global internet and supermarket tabloids to see that just about everyone and their Uncle Fred have speculated that China created a man-made or manipulated SARS-CoV-2 virus (which causes the Covid-19 disThe Paper - 760.747.7119

ease) and then unleashed it, intentionally, as a bio-weapon to “level the economic playing field” which is (collectively) dominated by Western powers, viz. the United States.

The conspiracy theory of China creating Covid-19 in the lab as a ferocious biological weapon emanates not only from the general public-at-large on social media, via Facebook posts, countless websites, blogs, etc., but this theory has also been advanced by well-known political figures and journalists, too

numerous to be mentioned here.

SHOCKING NEW EVIDENCE GIVES THE CHINA BIO-WEAPON CONSPIRACY THEORY SERIOUS RECONSIDERATION

Such speculation by even high-profile media folk mostly seem, in the final analysis (and by their own admission), to remain just that: just speculation. No documented scenarios were presented along with their theories; no critical names and dates of people who may have been

involved; nothing of substance to corroborate their conspiracy views.

The intent of this cover story was to investigate and research new areas and little-known facts (along with well-established facts) and attempt to “reconnect the dots” for creating a “behind-the-scenes” revelation of what truly happened prior – and leading up – to Covid19 first emerging from China, and if it truly was a bio-weapon that leaked from a secret lab. But, first things first.

The Paper

China’s Bio-Weapon? Cont. from Page 1

WHAT PROOF EXISTS THAT COVID-19 WAS NOT GENETICALLY ENGINEERED?

By general consensus from all reputable scientists globally, these credentialed researchers emphatically assert (on hard science) that Covid19 is naturally-derived and not man-made. In technical parlance: “If you were going to design it in a lab, the sequence changes make no sense. Two features of the virus, the mutations in the RBD portion of the spike protein and its backbone, definitely rules out laboratory manipulation as a potential origin for SARS-CoV-2.” Yet, such persistent conspiracy theories make entertaining reading. Along with the JFK assassination, space alien autopsies and even theories that the moon landing was all faked.

However, in the Covid-19 conspiracy theory of being a biological weapon, there are many facts that seem too compelling to be ignored. COVID-19 DOESN’T HAVE TO BE MAN-MADE TO BE A CHINESE BIO-WEAPON

Where the confusion begins is when one insists that Covid-19 has to be man-made in order for it to be suspected as a possible bio-weapon by,

Are you a Democrat, a Republican, or a Southerner? Here is a little test that will help you decide. The answer can be found by posing the following question:

for example, China.

That assumption is completely false.

There have been many past biological weapons used in warfare that were not created entirely in the laboratory.

That dichotomy must be clarified because many assume that once the “man-made theory” is (ostensibly) expunged by hard science, and generally accepted -- then one (wrongly) assumes that Covid-19 was not an intended biological weapon, after all.

It is still a viable allegation that Covid-19 – even though it “might” not have been created in a lab – could still have been intended as a Chinese bio-weapon, nonetheless. (And incidentally, don’t completely abandon the “man-made” theory, just yet.) CHINA’S ATTEMPT TO COVER-UP FACTS AROUSES SUSPICIONS OF BIO-WEAPON

The fact that China was, literally, caught lying about the existence (let alone the impending threat) of any Covid-19 disease, certainly raises valid suspicions on China’s other “intents and purposes” behind the communist country’s efforts to silence (and even punish) those who “blew the whistle” on the cloak of secrecy surrounding the emergence of the world’s first

Well, that's not enough information to answer the question! What is a Kimber 1911 cal. 45 ACP? Does the man look poor or oppressed? Is he really a terrorist? Am I guilty of profiling? Have I ever done anything to him that would inspire him to attack? Could we run away? What does my wife think? What about the kids? Could I possibly swing the gun like a club and knock the knife out of his hand? What does the law say about this situation? Does the pistol have appropriate safety built into it? Why am I carrying a loaded gun anyway, and what kind of message does this send to society and to my children? Is it possible he'd be happy with just killing me? Does he definitely want to kill me, or would he be content just to wound me? If I were to grab his knees and hold on, could my family get away while he was stabbing me? Should I call 9-1-1? Why is this street so deserted? Can we make this a happier, healthier street that would discourage

Covid-19 from one of China’s two highest-security level laboratories located at the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV).

It is there, at the Wuhan Institute of Virology that houses the world’s largest supply of coronaviruses from various species of bat that have been experimented upon for years.

Many suspect that the WIV is the site of the “smoking gun,” the very place where a highly-secretive biological warfare weapon may have been conceived.

If this is true, then it would clearly explain why China’s communist government made concerted efforts to draw suspicion away from the WIV and try to place the blame and locale of the Covid-19 outbreak miles away from the suspected Wuhan Institute of Virology. Nine officials from the current and former U. S. Intelligence and National Security Services who are familiar with the investigations in progress said that the probability that the pandemic was “triggered” at a research facility in Wuhan (WIV) was “certainly real,” and was “absolutely under scrutiny at the highest level.” How much of that “security” information will be made public is another issue, considering both its classification and sensitivity.

Apparently, the Baby-Boomers all have motorcycles, and Generation X is only buying a very few, and the next generation, the Millennial's, aren’t buying any at all.

Trump was quoted as saying: “With a high degree of confidence the (Covid-19) outbreak emanated from the WIV,” though he added that he could not reveal details.

This initial cover-up attempt by the communist nation, was eventually exposed only under scrutiny, and today it is generally accepted by international scientists that the WIV was most probably the locale and the source of any virus lab leak (regardless if it was part of a biological weapon program or not). EXACTLY WHERE DID CHINA “FABRICATE” WHERE THE VIRUS STARTED?

It is surmised that the Chinese officials wanted to select a distant locale away from its two highestsecurity “bat coronavirus research labs,” but the distant locale had be a “reasonable place” for the virus to have its genesis.

Because if the Covid-19 pandemic was released – either by accident or intentionally – such an egregious error (or worse, if it was an intended biochemical weapon) such a place of origin was better fabricated “outside” of the WIV to “save face” or international embarrassment and/or world condemnation, especially if the virus was connected to any Chinese high-security bio-weapon research labs.

2. Can't get their iPhone to their ear with a helmet on. 3. Can't use 2 hands to eat while driving.

4. They don't get a trophy and a recognition plaque just for buying one. 5. Don't have enough muscle to hold the bike up when stopped. 6 Might have a bug hit them in the face and then they would need emergency care..

So, in this case, the Wuhan Institute of Virology (with its highest security “Level-4” labs) first alleged that the Covid-19 virus came from the Huanan live animal market, some 8 miles away. This location was quickly proven to be false.

Investigations revealed indisputable facts that the “First Zero Patient” infected with Covid-19 did not visit the Huanan live animal market. It was firmly established and already known by the end of January 2020, that the initial patients hospitalized between December 1 thru December 10 of 2019, did not visit the market – and bats were NOT sold there.

According to unofficial reports and taking into account the virus’ incubation period, Patient Zero was apparently infected in Wuhan, China, in October or November of 2019. All the evidence thus far points to the two labs in Wuhan and not the Huanan live animal market, or wet market.

This Chinese ruse to distract from the virus’ true source of emergence was quickly dispelled by world research scientists who had tangible proof in tracking methods, thus forcing even the communist government to reluctantly acquiesce and recant its own information –

personally the virus was spawned in a P4 weapons lab. The Ground Zero (first infected) patient in Wuhan was within yards of the P4 lab. I think it is incumbent on China to prove that it wasn’t that lab. Whether it was purposely spawned in the Chinese lab is still an open question. ”

In summation, Mr. Navarro concluded: “It is China’s responsibility to provide evidence of a ‘natural contagion’ of SARS-CoV-2. As long as China fails to do this, the contagion is to be regarded as unnatural.” (Peter Navarro is also Director of Trade and Manufacturing Policy Defense National the and Production Act policy coordinator.) As far back as 2015, an article in the Journal of Defense Studies profiled the Chinese warfare program and noted that the Wuhan Institute of Virology was involved in the (improper) dispatch of highly virulent (highly contagious) viruses from Canada to the Chinese WIV labs. On April 5, 2020, British Intelligence indicated that the features of SARS-CoV-2, as well as extensive studies conducted at WIV, were all similar coronaviruses which have long been linked to the two high-level research labs.

A classified military document alleges that the WIV lab (one or both) “Enabled the virus to emerge, whether it was intentional or not, resulting in the present day Covid19 pandemic that is decimating countries around the globe.”

British military and intelligence expert, Colonel (ret.) Richard Kemp, said he had been informed by an unnamed “insider” that there was a “very high probability” that SARS-CoV-2 was released from a Wuhan lab and was a “man-made variation.” CHINA’S TOP BIO-WARFARE EXPERT ASSIGNED TO HEAD WIV VIRUS LABS.

On January 31, 2020, China’s own state-run “Pengbai” news outlet reported that 56-year-old Maj. Gen. Prof. Wei Chen, China’s top biological warfare expert, was assigned by the Chinese central government to take over the classified labs at the Wuhan Institute of Virology. The appointment confirmed suspicions in the West that the WIV labs had, for many years, been covertly affiliated with the military’s Institute of Biotechnology and, therefore, long involved in secret biological weaponry. China’s own news reports proudly and openly described the general as: “Our nation’s ultimate expert in biological and chemical warfare and weapons defense.”

On 09-17-20, at 1:11 am, Escondido Police officers were dispatched to the 7 Eleven at 522 W. 9th Ave in Escondido regarding a subject passed out in a vehicle. The caller informed the police dispatcher that they tried to wake the man, but he was incoherent and the caller thought that the man appeared to be under the influence of drugs. When the responding officers approached the vehicle, they recognized the subject as Thomas Vann, a known prior felon. Vann was observed wearing a ballistic style vest and loaded rifle magazines were plainly visible on the front passenger seat next to Vann.

Officers were able to wake Vann and detain him. As a result of a search of Vann and his vehicle, officers recovered 4 fully loaded rifle magazines, 126 rounds of rifle and shotgun ammo, 392 grams of methamphetamine, 78 grams of heroin, and stolen law enforcement gear (tactical vest, duty belt, medical kit, handcuffs, etc.).

China’s Bio-Weapon? Cont. from Page 3

On the Intelligence level, evidence was now being accumulated that gave greater credence to the theory that the WIV may have kept the Covid-19 as a secret biological weapon before it was accidently (or intentionally) leaked. On April 5, 2020, British Intelligence indicated that the features of SARS-CoV-2, as well as the extensive studies conducted at the WIV on coronaviruses, now rendered the suspicions of a biological weapon from a lab as a: “A credible alternative view.”

Ostensibly, British and American Intelligence have, for many years, been aware of Maj. Gen. Wei Chen’s involvement with the WIV labs before “openly reported” as being appointed the Head of the WIV secretive labs. As far back as 20 years, Wei Chen worked with the WIV. In 2003, Chen developed a nasal spray during the SARS outbreak in 2003. Published documents from the WIV irrefutably describe Gen. Wei Chen’s biological warfare credentials as such: “Chen is also a leading specialist in ‘genetic engineering’ vaccines in China.” DEFECTORS FROM CHINA MAY PROVIDE DATA THAT WILL “SHOCK” THE WORLD!

Former U. S. presidential advisor, Steve Bannon, revealed on July 13, 2020, that some scientists have defected from China’s research labs to the U. S. In part, Bannon was quoted as saying: “They (the defectors) don’t speak with the Press yet, but there are people from Wuhan’s laboratory and from other laboratories who have come to the West and are wrapping up evidence. I think the people (of the world) will be shocked.” CHINA NEVER ELIMINATED ITS BIOLOGICAL WARFARE ARSENAL AS IT AGREED.

In late June of 2020, an unclassified report by the U. S. State Department referred to China’s biological warfare program at large: “The United States does not have sufficient information to determine whether China eliminated its assessed biological warfare program, as required under Article II of the Convention.” The documents that China did submit to the convention never documented that China eliminated their biological warfare program, nor did China document that any remaining (or in progress) biological weaponry in their arsenal were ever destroyed. On February 2, 2020, according to prominent U. S. professor, Dr. Francis Boyle (of the University of Illinois, who is an expert in international law and biological warfare), the Chinese held the virus at the Wuhan Institute of Virology as a bio-weapon and leaked it from its lab. (Dr. Francis Boyle drafted the law which the U. S. Congress

passed to comply with the 1972 Biological Weapons Convention.)

Former Director of CIA Mike Pompeo (2017-2018) and newlyappointed U. S. Secretary of State by President Donald Trump, clearly stated: “China is working to take down America.” WUHAN SCIENTISTS TRAVELLED TO CAVES TO GET CORONAVIRUS-INFECTED BATS.

It is no secret, even by Chinese researchers, that they have – for years – travelled to caves in Yunnam to find horseshoe bats containing SARS-like coronaviruses.

The progenitor (source) strain of SARS-CoV-2 which causes Covid19 was a virus that infected six miners in Mojiang, in the Yunnair Province in 2012. The mine in which they contracted their illness is well known to be a breeding ground of bats infected abundantly with assorted coronaviruses. The virus killed three of the six infected miners. China’s earlier studies of bats infected with coronaviruses resulted in past deaths on a global scale, such as with the 2002-2004 SARS outbreak, which was an epidemic involving severe acute respiratory syndrome. The outbreak originated in China at Foshan, Guangdong, on November 16, 2002. The SARSCoV or SARS-CoV-1 was the world’s first identified strain of the SARS coronavirus species. Years later, in late 2017, China’s scientists traced the deadly virus through the “intermediary” animal known as the Asian palm civet. These small Asian animals (civets) are claimed to be the carrier that transmits SARS from horseshoe bats to humans. WIV SCIENTISTS INJECTED “BAT CORONAVIRUSES” INTO HUMAN CELLS.

Led by researcher Zheng-Li Shi, Wuhan Institute of Virology scientists have also (published) experiments in which: “Live bat coronaviruses were introduced into human cells.” (Hu et al, 2017)

Introducing bat coronaviruses into actual human cells (as openly published as far back as 2017 in one of China’s leading medical-research journals), may have brought about results which soon after made such pursuits “highly secretive” and “promising” as a possible biological weapon, ostensibly in the eyes of China’s military. Perhaps, a formidable bio-weapon, which China could add to its already-huge arsenal of “very advanced and sophisticated” biological weaponry (a biological arsenal which China never proved it eliminated, as previously discussed). SCIENTISTS INJECTED THE VIRUS INTO HUMAN & MONKEY CELLS.”

According to many, such pursuits as the aforementioned (introducing bat

viruses into human cells), may have created something viral that eventually was unable to be contained. In other words, something so powerful and unknown (which Covid-19 is), that it was only inevitable that it became an accidental (or perhaps, intentional) lab leak.

According to many scientists, one possibility is that a “wild type of virus” was first “propagated” (bred) repeatedly in human tissue cultures and the resulting “spontaneously upgraded” virus was then experimentally used to infect monkeys or ferrets – one of which then accidentally infected a person in the lab. (The WIV has long been experimenting on human cells and monkeys – the labs were routinely supplied with rhesus monkeys from the Macque Breeding Base in Suizhou City. WIV scientists experimented by injecting and infecting the monkeys with viruses.)

The “lab escape” theory is that researchers from one or both of these labs may have picked up a SARS-CoV-2-like bat coronavirus on one of their many bat collecting trips (what the WIV scientists themselves refer to as “virus surveillance”) and, in addition, one of these viruses that they were “studying, passaging, engineering, or otherwise manipulating – escaped.” The WIV, which added a BSL-4 lab (highest security “bio-safety lab”) as recent as 2018, had long been collecting large numbers of coronaviruses from bat samples ever since the original SARS outbreak of 2002-2003. (Hu, et al, 2017 and Zhou et al. 2018)

Since the two previous coronavirus near-pandemic of SARS (20022003) and MERS (2012) both probably came from bats and both are thought (but not proven) to have “transitioned” to humans through an “intermediary” (or “inbetween”) animal first, such as civets or dromedaries) which then provided a “bridge” or “pathway” to humans. The SARS-CoV-2 virus which causes today’s Covid-19 is also thought to have an “intermediary” animal before it infected humans. For example, an infected bat passes it to another animal, say a pangolin (which is highly suspected), and then transitions to humans. Normally, such scenarios would then establish that Covid-19 was naturally found, then “mutated” and, not man-made. Or does it?

THE CASE IS BUILDING THAT COVID-19 COULD HAVE A “LAB ORIGIN.”

According to leading investigative scientists, the crucial genetic “human-adapted shift” that the virus underwent (or a major part of it) took place during the infection of one or more of the miners (previously mentioned). This “shift” could have continued while the virus was isolated and being “studied” at the Wuhan Institute of

Virology, prior to the initial outbreak of Covid-19 and/or during the infection of Patient Zero.

The virus may have partially “evolved” at the WIV.

If this is true, then it is plausible that the origin of Covid-19 was a “manipulated virus” which then: “Would, probably, technically, not be provable (or not detectable through scientific testing, as we know it today).”

As scientists, Jonathan Latham and Allison Wilson expressed: “If the public has learned a lesson from the Covid-19 pandemic, it is that science does not always generate certainty.” A DECEPTIVE MAN-MADE VIRUS MAY BE IMPOSSIBLE TO DETECT BY TODAY’S SCIENCE.

First, it is paramount that “manmade” be explained from the vantage point of the world’s leading scientists today: “Synthetic virology” and “genetic engineering” are NOT the only ways humans can scientifically “manipulate” the evolutionary course of viruses. It is possible that a ‘wild-type’ virus underwent a ‘spontaneous genetic drift’ after being administered to or ‘seeded’ in experimental animals or (human tissue) cultures.” (As previously mentioned in this article, this is precisely what WIV virologists did – introduced bat coronaviruses into human cells.)

Scientists further explained how the misconception of “man-made” viruses can further lead to faulty detection: “A man-made virus literally means it is ‘wholly’ synthetic, however, there are variations on the term ‘man-made’ – for example, ‘partly synthesized,’ or hybrid, recombinant, mutant, and so on, all of which are artificial and preplanned. Often, also, evolutionary processes leading to similar viruses take place ‘spontaneously’ in viruses due to ‘man-induced’ courses in a lab. Chinese bio-technology has long mastered both modes of virus handling. Of all the nations in the world, none compares with the sophistication, and advanced knowledge of China in the arena of biological warfare capability. Many say that China’s bio-technological science is so “cutting-edge” that they could “write the book” by which current science would have to catch-up on. OF THE TOP 40 NATIONS HARDEST HIT BY COVID-19, CHINA IS NO. 39.

If the allegations are true that China purposely unleashed the Covid-19 virus worldwide to bring America to its knees, and “leveling the economic playing field” in China’s favor, one thing is for certain: Of the top 40 countries of the world most affected from total cases and deaths from Covid-19 . . . China is

No. 39, one country down from Sweden.

For the record, the United States sits at the top of the list as the No.1 nation hardest hit by the global pandemic with U. S. infection cases well over 6 ½ million and a death toll now close to 200,000. Relative to most of the civilized world, China has remained – by comparison – almost untouched with only 4,634 fatalities. A mere drop in the bucket for China, which is the most populated country on Earth, with well over 1.4-billion people.

If, and that’s a big “if,” Covid-19 is, indeed, a Chinese bio-weapon conspiracy designed to bring America down to its knees then, yes, Covid19 has accomplished that (whether it was truly intended to do so or not). In world ranking, the United States has the largest economy on Earth, with China in second place. Is it a coincidence that China’s dream of surpassing the U. S. economically is, somehow, becoming a reality? And also coincidental that the very cause of this new reality is because of a Covid-19 virus . . . which just happened to be released from China? On July 16, 2020, Reuters International News Service reported: “China is the first world economy to recover from business shutdowns.” In a CNBC newsbreak, it was reported: “In a post-coronavirus world, China looks to grow while the rest of the world contracts.” World analysts also reported: “In the face of global recession, China looks set, to become one of the few countries of the world that will expand, economically and politically.” SUMMATION.

From the very beginning, communist China silenced the “whistle blowers” (the WIV scientists) who were over-whelmed (and panicstruck) when the deadly Covid-19 virus first manifested and “became uncontrollable.”

Dr. Li Wenliang (who worked at the WIV lab) panicked and issued an early warning of a “strange new virus” and signaling for help. On December 30, 2019, Dr. Wenliang dropped a bombshell to his Medical School alumni on the popular Chinese messaging app called “WeChat.” His words included: “Seven patients have been diagnosed with a (strange) SARS-like illness and quarantined in the hospital.” Dr. Wenliang further explained on WeChat: “According to a test I have seen, the illness was a coronavirus – a large family of viruses that include severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS).” This was the family of coronaviruses that Dr. Wenliang’s WIV labs were experimenting with by intro-

What Can We Do About Wildfires?

This year, devastation from California’s wildfires is at record levels of destruction - about 3.4 million acres already burned! We have some of the toughest environmental standards in the nation, but our success in reducing greenhouse gas emissions is wiped out by tons of carbon dioxide spewed into the atmosphere by these fires.

The Legislature recently passed legislation to help prevent wildfires and deal with their aftermath. Two years ago, I supported a bi-partisan plan with then Governor Jerry Brown to increase vegetation clearance funding, and to empower CalFire and the California Department of Forestry to strategically and scientifically thin forest overgrowth, while holding utility companies more accountable for keeping power lines safe. I also supported the Wildfire Fund to help people who lost their homes deal with the aftermath of wildfires. But we must be more proactive to lessen the number and severity of wildfires. Over 40% of open land is owned by the Federal gov't. We need to push for aggressive vegetation management for government and private lands. Our fire and

weather technology infrastructure will need an upgrade statewide so that we can better predict wildfires and their probable path, similar to what we have in our county and SDGE. We need more technology and equipment for local and state fire departments with modernized communications systems for better coordination between federal, state and local agencies to manage incidents under their jurisdictions and keep them and the public safe. County roadways need more vegetation clearance as vehicles cause about 25% of fires in high-risk zones. Obviously, there will be a cost for all this, but if we don’t take action, the brush, dead trees and overgrown forests will still be thinned – wildfires will do the job. Those costs are much higher. As always, I continue to make wildfire prevention and management a top priority. Assembly Republican Leader Marie Waldron, R-Escondido, represents the 75th Assembly District in the California Legislature, which includes the communities of Bonsall, Escondido, Fallbrook, Hidden Meadows, Pala, Palomar Mountain, Pauma Valley, Rainbow, San Marcos, Temecula, Valley Center and Vista

Trying to Reopen

San Diego has been backed into a corner with unreasonable expectations. The States new, color coded criteria makes it impossible for San Diego County to ever completely open. Last week, I made a motion at the Board of Supervisors meeting for the County to no longer enforce whether businesses should be open or closed. I still believe that we should enforce the health and safety protocols, but let the State enforce their closure requirements. Unfortunately, my motion didn’t receive a second and failed prior to the vote. I’m disappointed by my colleagues’ lack of support, and the County will continue to enforce business closures, rather than safe reopenings. There is a new crisis - and it’s now economic. The April lockdown continues indefinitely with 200,000 San Diegans unemployed and $5 Billion in lost wages for the region’s workforce. In April, we were told that we need to protect hospital beds, ICUs, and respirators, and there was limited personal protective equipment. We have lost sight of the original

goals. As of September, we are in single digit percentages of Coronavirus patients in hospital beds. We have proven we can identify, treat, and protect the most vulnerable people in San Diego County.

We have done all that was asked of us by the State. It’s time for us to take local control, to stay safe, protect our most vulnerable, and allow our businesses to open safely and our workforce the opportunity to get back to work.

ducing bat coronaviruses into human cells and monkey cells (purposely infecting monkeys to analyze the effects).

Within hours Dr. Wenliang’s frantic message went global, his message and screen shots saturated the internet. Dr. Wenliang knew he would be punished by China’s government as he expressed via WeChat: “When I saw them (my messages and screen shots) circulating online, I realized that it was out of control and I would be punished.”

He was right. China quickly imposed a “state censorship” around the illness. Dr. Wenliang and seven of his colleagues were called to the Wuhan Police Station. They were silenced and reprimanded for: “Spreading rumors online” and “Severely damaging social order.”

On January 1, 2020, the Wuhan Police Department announced it had “taken legal measures” against eight people who had recently “Published and shared rumors online” about the pneumonia-like illness and “caused adverse impacts on society.” Dr. Wenliang informed America’s CNN in a desperate message from WeChat: “My family would worry sick about me, if I lose my freedom in a few days.” He was coughing too much and breathing too poorly to speak over the phone to CNN. He soon after was hospitalized for the Covid-19 virus. On February 7, 2020, at precisely 2:58 a.m., Dr. Li Wenliang died of Covid-19. He was only 34 years old. His last words were: “I only wanted to warn my classmates (and the world) to be careful (of this mysterious virus now unleashed).”

The father of Dr. Li Wenliang was later interviewed by the BBC (British Broadcasting Co.). Dr. Li Wenliang’s father was inconsolable. He was quoted as saying: “I don’t think my son was rumormongering. Hasn’t this turned into reality now?” Then his voice trailed off in sadness and he managed to whisper: “My son was wonderful.”

Before turning away in grief, the father issued one final volley which would reverberate around the world: “If Wuhan had not covered-up back then, it would be a completely different world today.”

by Tom Morrow

He looks at the frog and decides to prove the frog wrong, puts the club away, and grabs a 9 iron. Boom! He hits it 10 inches from the cup. He is shocked.

He says to the frog, 'Wow that's amazing. You must be a lucky frog, eh?

The frog replies, 'Ribbit Lucky frog.'

The man decides to take the frog with him to the next hole.

The Nation’s Highway System ‘Ike’ Built

If you could credit the person most responsible for our nation’s massive highway system you might think it would have to be Henry Ford. In reality it was President Dwight D. Eisenhower.

'What do you think frog?' the man asks. 'Ribbit 3 wood.'

The guy takes out a 3 wood and, boom! Hole in one. The man is befuddled and doesn't know what to say. By the end of the day, the man golfed the best game of golf in his life and asks the frog, 'OK where to next?'

The frog replies, 'Ribbit Las Vegas.’

They go to Las Vegas and the guy says, 'OK frog, now What?' The frog says, 'Ribbit Roulette.'

Upon approaching the roulette table, the man asks, 'What do you think I should bet?'

The frog replies, 'Ribbit $3000, black 6.'

Now, this is a million-to-one shot to win, but after the golf game the man figures what the heck. Boom! Tons of cash comes sliding back across the table. The man takes his winnings and buys the best room in the Hotel. He sits the frog down and Says,

'Frog, I don't know how to repay you. You've won me all this money and I am forever grateful.' The frog replies, 'Ribbit KissMe.'

He figures why not, since after all the frog did for him, he deserves it. With a kiss, the frog turns into a gorgeous 15-year-old girl. 'And that, your honor, is how the girl ended up in my room. So help me God or my name is not William Jefferson Clinton.'

Early in the 20th century Ford made cars affordable for the average working man but there was a limited number of roadways in which to travel. Few roads in the Southwestern and Western states were nothing more than a two-track pathway cut through the landscape connecting one city or town with another.

In 1919 and 1920, two future U.S. presidents were involved in the development of our cross-country highway system. In 1920, the first major highway in the U.S. was built by the “Old Trails Road Association, a private organization that built a Missouri roadway connecting St. Louis and Kansas City. The Association’s president, at that time was Jackson County Judge Harry S. Truman of Independence, Mo. Later, in 1926, the Association determined the road be split into several “numbered” highways throughout the nation. A portion of the “Old Trails Road from Chicago to Los Angeles would later become the iconic U.S. Route 66.

The “Lincoln Highway” became the first coast-to-coast roadway running from New York’s Times Square to L.A. The Old Trails Association proposed automobile manufacturers donate 1 percent of their annual revenue to building the various national roads. All the major company heads complied except one … Henry Ford. He declared highways were the responsibility of the national government and not private enterprise.

In 1919, before there was any real organization connecting the West to the East, the U.S. Army mounted a car and truck convoy to travel the length of the new Lincoln Highway to determine viability of the road. The convoy was headed by Lt. Col. Dwight D. Eisenhower. Results of the Army’s mission encouraged Congress to pass the Federal Aid Highway Act of 1921, which greatly increased matching state

funds. Various states contributed to building and improving roadways connecting to the Lincoln Highway.

Eisenhower reported the Lincoln Highway through Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Indiana were in “fairly good shape,” much of it paved, but the roadway from Illinois on to the West, was mostly dirt. It became nearly unpassable during bad weather, especially rain, leaving much of it little more than a deep two-rutted roadway. Today, small sections of the old “Oregon Trail” cut by pioneers during the mid-1800s were still visible along the first westward path to the Pacific. Until roads were built in the various western states, the “Oregon Trail” often was used by early motorists, especially those driving tall-wheeled vehicles like Model T Fords.

After the Army convoy excursion, young Eisenhower (“Ike”) vowed to do everything he could to improve the nation’s roadways. Years later President Eisenhower would oversee the creation of our modern Interstate Highway system. Today, much of the Lincoln Highway still exists as U.S. 30, which follows nearly the same route between Lincoln Park in San Francisco and Times Square in New York City. Much of U.S. 30 parallels Interstate 80. The interstate idea was first conceived in Germany. The “autobahn” was started in the mid-1920s, but its construction did not make progress beyond the planning stage due to the Great Depression. One of the sections was planned as a "car-only road" crossing Germany from Hamburg south through Frankfurt then on to Switzerland. When Adolf Hitler became chancellor in 1933, sections were completed by the late 1930s and early 1940s, but construction eventually was halted because of World War II. Interestingly, the first autobahn section was completed in 1932 between Cologne and Bonn, officially dedicated on Aug. 6, 1932, by Konrad Adenauer, Lord Mayor of Cologne and future Chancellor of West Germany.

Today, the “Dwight D. Eisenhower National System of Interstate & Defense Highways,” using the German scheme as a network of controlledaccess highways, connects most principal cities across the nation. The Interstate system extends throughout the contiguous United States and has routes in Hawaii, Alaska, and Puerto Rico. After Eisenhower became president in 1953, his administration developed plans for the interstate system. Construction began in 1956, and was proclaimed completed in 1992. The cost of construction was approximately $114 billion (equivalent to $521 billion in 2018).

The Interstate system uses a numbering scheme in which primary Interstates are assigned one- or two-digit numbers and shorter routes are assigned threedigit numbers where the last two digits match the parent route. Example: Interstate 805 bypass for the I-8 and I5 in San Diego. One-quarter of all miles driven in the U.S. use the Interstate which has a network of 48,440 miles. Because of its heavy use, especially by truck traffic, the system is constantly under restorative construction. Thanks to “Ike,” our lives have been greatly changed because of the Interstate … for both good and bad … good for travel, bad for the futures of many small towns.

People should be more like dogs.

There are only a few differences between people and dogs, chief of which is, people go to the bathroom when and where it is appropriate. Dogs don't always do that. Aside from that, dogs are generally better than people.

Consider the fact that if/when you have a slight tummy upset and lie down to rest, your pup will likely jump up in the bed beside you. Does she lie down with you? No, she most certainly does not. She wants to play. She nips at your ear, she chews on your hair, she runs around the bed and then comes back and snuggles up against you . . . then starts all over again. When she wants to play you'll get no rest and there's no way you can get mad at her, or stay mad at her.

People aren't like that. Sometimes they don't wanna play. Sometimes they don't have time left to play. They're too busy with other things. Sometimes I think humans have forgotten how to play. And I can stay angry with humans, and they with me. Not so with dogs. They won't let you stay mad. In fact, they can look at your with sorrowful eyes after

you've chewed them out and make you feel about one inch tall. Naturally, you pick them up and hug them and what do they do? They kiss you and love you and are as happy as can be. People ain't like that. People get chewed out, they resent you. For a long time. They give you a totally different look than a pup does. People don't forgive . . . or, if they do, they take their own sweet time about it. People ought to be more like dogs.

The $145 adoption fee for Neon includes medical exams, vaccinations, spay, registered microchip, and a free one-year license if her new home is within the jurisdictions controlled by San Diego Humane Society’s Department of Animal Services. For information about Adoption by Appointment or to become a Virtual Foster log on to www.SDpets.org.

Our biased news media supporting this hatred makes the hatred perfectly reasonable to them. Hatred prevents necessary discussion in the solving of problems.

Hatred seems to benefit the motives of politicians as they us it to attack any activity or project of the President. Hatred is so poweful it prevents honesty or compromise working together to solve our country’s problems. /s/ Fran and Neal Hook.

The Pastor Says...

Pet Parade

Neon is pet of the week at your Rancho Coastal Humane Society. She’s a 2 year old, 46 pound, female, Pit Bull Terrier mix.

Hatred makes a person unreasonable, bitter, and mean spirited.

Moses may be one of the best known Old Testament characters. Like many of us, he had a questionable past, but when God got his full attention, he became a great servant. In Exodus 19, Moses has convinced Egypt’s Pharaoh to release the Israelites from slavery and has led them to the foot of Mt. Sinai, where they have made camp. You astute Bible scholars know that the Ten Commandments are coming in the next chapter. But first, God must be assured of the commitment of the Israelites and set some boundaries for their conduct.

Moses is the liaison between God, who is on the mountain, and the people, who are at the bottom. As you read the chapter, Moses is constantly going between God and the people. Up and down the mountain.

Moses is around 80 years old by now, and even if that is around 55 in today’s years, it is still quite a climb. The mountain most believe is the Mt. Sinai of the Ten Commandments is about 7500 feet above sea level. Modern climbers can climb the mountain in a little over two hours and descend in about an hour. But they have better equipment and probably better trails than Moses had. When we think of Moses, we think of the great moments. Confronting Pharaoh. Parting the Red Sea. Receiving the tablets of the Ten Commandments. But what about all that climbing and descending, doing the work of a messenger? Just common ordinary chores. Yet, without those ordinary duties, the setting the Ten Commandments could not have been given. The world is made up of ordinary people doing ordinary things to accomplish extraordinary things. To paraphrase Abe Lincoln, God loves ordinary people. That’s why he made so many of them. Most of us are ordinary. But we can do amazing things when we allow God to use us in the ordinary things of life.

A Weekly Message from the Mayor of Your Community published in the belief that it is important for elected leaders to communicate with their constituents and that constituents have a means of hearing from their elected leaders.

San Marcos • Mayor Rebecca Jones

A very special thanks to our ‘Friends!’

The Friends of San Marcos Parks & Recreation always make a big impact in our community, but this summer was truly a standout season for their support.

COVID-19 has presented numerous challenges, one of which was the closure of Las Posas pool. The Friends pledged $10,000 to cover the cost of part-time staff (lifeguards and cashiers) to operate the pool for eight weeks this summer. The pool would have remained closed for the entire summer had the Friends not stepped in with this generous donation.

They’ve also donated $5,000 in scholarship funds to be used by community members who meet income requirements to participate in San Marcos recreation opportunities ranging from swimming lessons to senior classes. And that’s not all! They are on a quest to raise even more scholarship funds by promoting the Double Peak Challenge Virtual 10K, and you can help by participating in this fun program. Go to doublepeakchallenge.com to register and help our Friends’ group meet their goal of raising $10,000!

Escondido • Mayor Paul “Mac” McNamara Greetings Escondido,

Recently, I attended a 9/11 remembrance event at the Escondido American Legion Post. It was really well done by the Brothers of Six, which, if you are not familia,r is a history preservation organization, and the Post itself.

I was there with Congressman Issa and we both had a chance to speak. We are both veterans and share a common bond in that our first adult venture in the world was to serve in the armed forces. As veterans, we have a common bond of service to our country that transcends partisan politics. I think it is important to remember that point during this election season where the country seems to divide along party lines. And while debate is important, at the end of the day, we all share a common bond. We are all Americans. At the 9/11 event, one was reminded that we are all part of the same grand community. And when attacked, we come together. So, after this election season, make sure you are still friends with those you disagree with. Stay informed, Be Kind, Remember your neighbor, and Stay safe! Semper Fi, Mac

Old computers, phones, batteries, fluorescent light bulbs, pool and photo chemicals, as well as old or unused medications and home-generated sharps can also be dropped off. Oceanside • Mayor Peter Weiss

California is in the midst of an unprecedented economic crisis, and yet another threat is on the horizon for small businesses. Prop 15 on the November ballot will be the largest property tax increase in state history at $12.5 billion per year.

Unless defeated by voters, the measure shreds long-standing Prop 13 protections that have kept property taxes affordable and provided every taxpayer that buys a home or operates business with certainty that they can afford their property tax bills in the future. Prop 15 repeals these protections for business property by requiring reassessment at current market value at least every three years.

Prop 15’s higher property taxes will cause rents to skyrocket for small businesses and the cost of living to increase for all Californians. That’s why small businesses, farmers, social justice organizations, and taxpayer advocates across California oppose this massive tax increase.

in small town restaurants. Usually the restaurant would push three or four tables together to make seating for a dozen or more and keep that configuration through the morning and noon meals. Then they would separate the tables and go back to normal seating for “supper.”

The “Farmers Table”

This morning over breakfast Nome and I were remembering the “Farmer’s Table” in the restaurants where we grew up in Indiana. The “Farmer’s table” is a feature in small town restaurants in middle-America and we love to see them when we go back to visit. If you type “Farmers Table” into a search engine today, you will find things like “farm to table” or health food outlets. The Internet doesn’t seem to know about the “Farmer’s table” tradition of the mid-west. After 1920 when cars and trucks became a feature on every farm, the “farmers table” became ubiquitous

Farmer’s would rise before sun-up and start the morning chores. The farm wife would get the kids up, fed and off to school. At some point in the morning the farmer might take a break jump in the pick-em-up truck and head to the “farmers table” for breakfast. The town’s banker, insurance agent, hardware store owner, constable, mayor and other “pillars of the community” would often join them during the breakfast hours. These men had known one another their entire lives, and the morning “Farmers Table” was definitely a guy thing. The wives and town preacher left the “boys” alone at breakfast. Dinner time was entirely different. If the Farmer took his break at lunch time, the hard working farm wife often came along. Everyone, even the preacher, was welcome at the lunch time “farmers Table.”

Even if you weren’t a regular at the restaurant, you had to feel good about “the Farmers Table” anyway. The feeling of brotherhood, community and connectedness was pervasive. In a small town it was easy to stay connected. We had the Farmers Table, the American Legion, church and a dozen other ways to stay connected. To a large extent in urban California many of us find it harder to connect and

have lost that feeling of community.

We often no longer have the luxury of being able to express ourselves openly without fear of “offending.” In today’s disconnected society, the honest response of “I don’t like that” has been replaced by the more nebulous “that offends me.” There is a huge difference. “I don’t like that” leaves a burden on the responder to explain why they don’t like what was said. “That offends me” makes the assumption that the speaker has done something inappropriate to hurt the responder and owes them an explanation. It is a communications blocker. San Marcos still has some of that

So if you get tired of being cooped up and feel the need for some “down home” company, think up a couple of computer questions, put on a mask and come on in.

you tell me why?

I am glad to report that my husband who was missing is dead. This is my ninth child. What are you going to do about it?

I am very annoyed to find you have branded my son illiterate. This is a dirty lie, as I was married a week before he was born. I am fowarding my marriage certificate and three children, one of which is a mistake as you can see. Unless I get my husband's money pretty soon I will be forced to lead an immortal life. •••• Last week, I took my children to a restaurant.

My six-year-old son asked if he could say grace. As we bowed our heads he said, 'God is good, God is great. Thank you for the food, and I would even thank you more if Mom gets us ice cream for dessert. And Liberty and justice for all! Amen!'

Along with the laughter from the other customers nearby, I heard a woman remark, '...That's what's wrong with this country. Kids today don't even know how to pray. Asking God for ice cream! Why, I never!' Hearing this, my son burst into tears and asked me, 'Did I do it wrong? Is God mad at me?'

As I held him and assured him that he had done a terrific job, and God was certainly not mad at him, an elderly gentleman approached the table. He winked at my son and said, 'I ha ppen to know that God thought that was a great prayer.' Really?' my son asked.

'Cross my heart,' the man replied.

Then, in a theatrical whisper, he added (indicating the woman whose remark had started this whole thing), 'Too bad she never asks God for ice cream. A little ice cream is good for the soul sometimes.'

Naturally, I bought my kids ice cream at the end of the meal. My son stared at his for a moment, and then did something I will remember the rest of my life. He picked up his sundae and, without a word, walked over and placed it in front of the woman. With a big smile he told her, 'Here, this is for you. Ice cream is good for the soul sometimes; and my soul is good already.' The End

“If it wasn’t for The Paper, I’d be a nobody!”

People tell me I’m a genius. Well, that’s probably true. Of couse, it’s all relative.

Whatever it is that I am, I owe to The Paper. My friends and I never miss an edition. We absolutely love the Chuckles Column, and that guy that writes the Computer Column? Brilliant! And the Cover Stories? Listen . . . I wouldn’t be nearly as smart as I am if I didn’t avidly devour each week’s cover story. What great research! Listen . . . you wanna be smart like me? Read The Paper! It’s free! lÉâÜ yÜ|xÇw? TA X|Çáàx|Ç
