Last week we bragged about our seven year winning streak as “Best North County Computer Store” in the Union Tribune “Best of San Diego Readers Poll”. We believe our success is a result of how we see our relationship with our customers. Our job is to help business and home PC users find the combination of features and functions that best fit their PC usage patterns. That’s not as easy as it sounds. Most home and business users today have relatively simple needs when it comes to the functionality of the PC itself. Hardware considerations like CPU speed, the amount of RAM and the size of our storage devices are not nearly as important as they once were, and for a very good reason.

September is a perfect time to celebrate your pets!
Celebrate our pets during September. This is Responsible Dog Ownership Month and it’s also Happy Healthy Cat Month.
Remember pets who have crossed the Rainbow Bridge during this National Pet Memorial Month and World Animal Remembrance Month by making a donation to a shelter or rescue. September 11 is National Pet Memorial Day. You can set up an automatic donation in your pet’s honor every year.
You can make a donation any day, but Thursday, September 8 is San Diego Gives Day. Judi Sanzo, President and CEO of Rancho Coastal Humane Society, says, “San Diego Gives is an opportunity to highlight the tremendous work of all of the amazing nonprofits here lunch. She put me on hold to take medication. It sounded like she was inhaling a pharmacy.
Before the Internet came to dominate, our PCs worked as stand-alone computing devices. We purchased floppies, CDs and DVDs to load and execute the programs and applications we used. Tax, finance, art, graphics, spread sheets, genealogy and word processing are just some examples of the applications we used. Our PCs were required to have the processing power to run the applications and the storage capacity to hold the application programs and the data files generated.
As the Internet matured, powerful network servers began to take over the number crunching and storage activities, once the sole domain of the stand-alone PC. Most applications no longer require local storage and processing power because their processing and storage can be accomplished on the Internet. We no longer need to buy floppies, CDs or DVDs to load programs because we can access and run our applications directly on the Internet. Our PCs slowly have become little more than “dumb Internet terminals.”
As the Internet continues to become ever more capable in handling high speed applications, it has become clear that that for the great majority of PC users, the era of constantly increasing PC speeds and storage capacities ended years ago. Even power users of stand-alone applications like solids modeling, gaming, day trading, crypto-currency mining etc will eventually be co-opted by Internet supercomputers.
As Internet servers make local speed and storage less relevant, other considerations are important in determining what type of PC and configuration best fits an individual user’s
in San Diego County. So, whether it’s animals, arts and culture, environment or education, there’s a cause for everyone.”
September 11 is Grandparents’ Day. I love bragging about my five grand dogs, grand kitten, three grand chickens, and grand duck. (I have a grand-duck named Waddles. Don’t judge.) Combine this with National Hug Your Hound Day on the 11th. Don’t have a pet? Hug someone else’s pet. Ask permission first. I know a duck who isn’t big on hugs.
Still looking for a way to honor animals? Attend Rancho Coastal Humane Society’s Celebration of Second Chances, “Unleashing the Magic!” on Saturday, September 17 at the Omni La Costa Resort and Spa in Carlsbad.

needs. Space limitations, screen size, input/output devices, mobility, peripheral connectivity and a host of other features determine what exact configuration best fits. A salesman may need the portability of his notebook tethered to the Internet through his smart phone while on the road, but at home he plugs his portable PC into a wireless keyboard and mouse and a 24 inch monitor and closes the lid. Voila, he now has a comfortable home workstation. Micro-PCs are powerful full function computers that weigh about a pound and fit in your coat pocket. For some folks the Micro is the perfect solution for moving work between locations, like home and work. All-in-Ones are complete PCs built into a 20 to 24 inch monitor housing. With webcam, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and all the “bells and whistles”, the only connection needed is the power cord. Windows 10 refurb desktop/tower PCs start at under $200 and are perfect for student bedroom or dorm Internet connected workstations.
At the Computer Factory we have a large inventory of workstations, notebooks, micros and All-in-ones. We can build, upgrade, or customize a Windows 10/11 PC configuration to meet virtually any purpose or application. Bring your old PC in and let’s talk about what you want your PC to be able to do. Between us we can probably come up with a solution. Remember, at The Computer Factory, talk isn’t just cheap, it’s free.

“I take a lot of meds,” she remarked. “Usually, I’m on about eleven medications.”
I asked what it’s like having someone else’s heart.
“You’re not the same person you were before surgery. You are literally someone else. “Something inside you changes. There isn’t a day that goes by when I don’t think of my donor. I’m alive because that family made a decision in a time of grief.”
Then there’s Roger. He grew up with cystic fibrosis. When I called, he was about to hike into Grand Canyon. A lifelong dream for him. “I basically lived in a hospital until my donors could be found. I was going to die there. “But then my doctor came in and said they found a donor. I started crying. I was like, ‘Which organ?’ The doctor said it was for my liver AND kidneys. “My donor was a 24-year-old police officer. I’m in the Grand Canyon today because of his gift.”
Right now, doctors are flipping off Seara’s machines. have gathered around her in silence, remembering the sacred wonder she brought into this world.
Surgeons will cart her away. And although nobody will ever see her beautiful face again, her beautiful energy shall not vanish.
Her heart will continue to live. So will her spirit. This world will miss her dearly. Her department will miss her fiercely.
But Seara Burton is not dead. No way. No how.
