Project type: science and technology museum Project year: graduation project spring 2017 Location given: Tepebasi, Taksim, Istanbul Project brief: an assignment to design a museum that will hold a collection of technological marvels that humanity have brought to the world, and how they affect the interpretation of scientific notions. The structure should reflect its content and still not be too dramatic to the location it’s context. The approach was to provide a walkthrough of the historical development and discoveries of technologies and how it has become a crucial aspect of the daily life, from gigantic mega machines that did such simple tasks, to Nano-augmentations that does complex math problems and tasks. Another point is keeping the location accessible to the public with the admission to the museum’s premises, for its astonishing view and node location. The site has multiple points of access and attractions, and all of them lead to one main gate through the curves of the design, and the peaks through its folds which attracts the passing eye wondering what’s held inside.

A long vertical building would creates a narrow space for an exhibition and a difficult circulation, Provides a view and a small footprint One Nature’s fastest animals ; the hummingbird
A horizontal building entirely above ground is good for ventilation and light, less green area Its intricate wing motion
Separated masses provides versatility and flexibility in theme application Circulation is difficult and ventilation is of high costs and less green area
Applying that wing motion diagram to refine the form and using a sphere like shape in the middle representing the bird’s head
A horizontal building buried entirely under the ground creates ventilation and light problems, 0 foot print above ground public circulation and green area And an open area for exhibition above ground
ideally, 2 small masses above ground and a giant vertical mass on the bottom is good for circulation, natural light and green areas.

From the keywords that relate to this project were; nature-inspired, rapid, self-sufficient. From nature comes technology and its rapid paste in development, an example from its fastest animals “the hummingbird. It has very interesting wing motion of how it can maneuver and be stable midair. Which played a role in defining the shape of the building.

Project type: Hotel Project year: Fall 2017 Location given: Buyukdere, Levent, Istanbul Project brief: Designing a hotel was the task, a hotel with a specified theme to it. Levent is a busy district and crowded with much noise and traffic surrounding it, so the design must be suitable to encounter all the site’s cons whilst still relating to the context of it. Also Levent lacks much greenery, so with the given footprint designing a public green area was mandatory, also since hotels opt for higher more vertical structures for isolation and view purposes. The theme chosen for this hotel was to be an artistic hotel which would hold 3 classes, Economy rooms, business suit, and Artistic duplexes. What separates a normal room from an artistic duplex is location at the top of the tower, it’s designated theme towards a certain profession in terms of isolation and layout. And the ability to pay the room’s stay with an artwork if the artist is known.

Concept Started with a primitive shape
Moved it away from noise and traffic
Lifted it up isolating it more and providing view
Revolved brush stroke like elements around it that resembles 5 branches of artistry: Illustrative, Performed, Musical, Literate, Crafty
Refined the shape
Final Result
02 Artisan Hotel
The levent district is one of the busiest districts in Istanbul which lead to the discussion of trying to isolate the rooms as much as possible keeping them away from traffic and lifting them away from the ground; which benefitted in the view also. The whole shape comes together in the combination of the solid cylindrical core in the middle surrounded by the clear strips of glass that opt for support aside from their aesthetic aspect.
02 Artisan Hotel The core is hollow in the inside creating a gallery which has the 3 elevators looking into, the gallery hold a collection of artworks hung inside for display along its vertical axes.

Project type: Conventional learning center Project year: spring 2016 Location given: Azapkapi, Halic, Istanbul Project brief: the task at hand was to design a cultural, community and a conventional learning center at the heart of Istanbul. Which was to be design in a fairly historically wealthy area. On one side the golden horn and on site there are some ruins of the Genevieve empire wall, And the mimar Sinan famous Sokillu Mehmet mosque. Modernly the site also holds a newly found bridge for the metro line which makes for another access point to the site which already has a land and sea access capabilities, making it a very important node. The structure must hold a library, an exhibition, and a conventional learning space. The space must be open to the public and easy of axes and not obstructive to the site in any way.

The earth we live on consists of multiple layers formed by many factors throughout its life, those elements are composed of archaeological ruins.
The concept is to do such a representation of gems as if they’re coming back to life through the ground, similar to the existent wall in the site which has a part of it protruding upwards while the other part lies berried .
Which like gems are being compressed under many layers of rock preserving them like a casket, those archeological remains are the gems of architecture.
Final Result
Concept Similar to what Robert Venturi and John Rauch has done the ghost structure, I’ve decided on making a frame surrounding the remains of the wall and other parts where the wall used to exist so visitors can perceive the scale and the shape of the wall in the past with a very light thin metal structure

Program wise the project consists of 2 separate structures, one is for the library and 3 combined on the opposing side for the rest public activities, the separation was made to isolate the library from the public noise to create user comfort and to be able to experience the site from another perspective,
The giant structure has 2 holes which are create sculptural light tunneled stairwells leading to the roof. Another access to the roof is through the ramped exhibition.

Project type: Youth center Project year: fall 2017 Location given: fictitious, Istanbul Participants count: 3 Project brief: designing a youth center was the task, said center had sustainability as a priority. The location though it was fictional it had similar aspects to a certain area in Istanbul “sutluce, with its riverside and weather. The site was a node in terms of its accessibility with many access points, it held importance forwarded towards these locations. Taking in advantage all the weather aspects the river and the materials that will be used in this design a relatively sustainable design was created.

N Program wise the compound consists of 4 semi-separate structures; 1 holds all indoor sports fields, 2 holds the restaurant and meeting hall, 3 holds the library, and the one at the center holds all the workshops classrooms and at the very center the plantation and sustainability workshop. And combing all 4 structures together is the multi-sloped roof that is accessible to the public
Project type: house Project year: spring 2017 Location given: Omotesando, Tokyo, Japan Participants count: 2 Project brief: The competition was to design a house for a person who will work in this house, and therefore the spaces for meeting the client and doing the actual work is totally separate from the relaxing environment. With keeping in mind the plot size is 25 m2 for the whole house, with a requirement of 9 m2 of that to be an outdoor space. Being so closely located to Omotesando, one of Tokyo’s most valued shopping districts, the most suits client to be assigned is an independent fashion designer along with his family of 3, with this came the concept of “the shifting house”. Since the client is an artist, the form of the dwelling should reflect his characteristics am this is done by the creation of playful and colorful façade, enriched with multiple geometrical forms.
