FORMAL REPRESENTATION OF SPACE (GROUP 190)

My Portfolio Axel David Agustín Martínez A00834313

DUE: 18/2/2022 EXPLANATION What am I going to learn with this activity?.. By the end of this course, you will be able to draw common objects. Draw what you see and observe. Draw basic lines and shapes. Understand the basics of volume, light, shadow and composition. Feel confident enough to further their artistic learning on any subject. Understand that everything is made of a few basic shapes

1. KNOWING SKETCHING DRAWING

PERSONAL CONCLUSION

I really liked this activity because i never had pay too much atention when drawing a cube and this will be useful for me in the future.

DUE: 19/2/2022 EXPLANATION . Think of an everyday object you have at home that you use on a daily basis (or at least regularly)... Take a nice picture (well lit and with a solid background) Now find a different version of that same object (not only different color, but a different form)... and include a picture as well. Reflect on the different shapes, materials, size, function, durability, etc. Write a brief essay with your thoughts.

3. FORM AND DESIGN

PERSONAL CONCLUSION

This activity was interesting because in our daily life we use many objects, thinking about varieties of these can open your mind to experiment with something new

DUE: 22/2/2022 EXPLANATION Answer the questions

2. MODELING A CUBE. 4 CORNER SECTIONS. QUESTIONS.

PERSONAL CONCLUSION

I already knew about the edges and corners of a cube but counting them in a cube with 4 corner section was very diferent for me

DUE: 23/2/2022 EXPLANATION Nearpod Presentation

7. DEFINITION OF SPACE

PERSONAL CONCLUSION

Knowing about space was very important in this class because we were going to work in molding our own space

DUE: 18/2/2022 EXPLANATION You'll be assigned a specific case study. In an abstraction exercise, first of all: Identifying all the volumes (shapes) that make up the building Make a hypothesis on how the architect worked on this shapes (the process) to create the final design. Think of the different operations that we talked during class.

8. FORM TRANSFORMATION

CASE STUDY

PERSONAL CONCLUSION

Working in team helped me because when i didnt understand something my partner explain me and helped me research about the building.

DUE: 25/2/2022 EXPLANATION 1.- Explain the importance of knowing the Bruno Munari Methodology. 2.- According to Bruno Munari's methodology. What is a problem? 3.- What is the synoptic scheme proposed by the author in order to better face a design problem? .. 4.- What are the main problems facing the modular shelter?..

CHALLENGE. ACTIVITY 1. BRUNO MUNARI METHODOLOGY

PERSONAL CONCLUSION

Reading about the Munari´s Methodology was intersting cause there are many steps to follow before getting into an idea

DUE: 28/2/2022 EXPLANATION Model a cube with 4 corner sections. Powerpoint presentation..

2.1- MODELING A CUBE. 4 CORNER SECTIONS

PERSONAL CONCLUSION

Molding a 4 section clay cube was intersting because we could see with more details the forms, the edges and the corners.

DUE: 1/3/2022 EXPLANATION 1Define the concept of your shelter. What are you looking for when being in your shelter? Is it a space for meditation? To take a break and isolate for a minute of all the noise and activities that surround us? A place to read? Listen to music? Concentrate and study? What are the feelings and impact you look forward to generate in the user: peace, calm, relaxation, distraction, joy, happiness, fun, etc...

CHALLENGE. ACTIVITY 2. BRAIN STORMING ABOUT MY SHELTER

PERSONAL CONCLUSION

Me and my partner worked in this activity giving ideas and some sketches for imagining how we wanted our shelter to be. This part of the process was very important for us to stablish concepts and forms

DUE: 2/3/2022 EXPLANATION Go through Nearpod's presentation about architectural drawings... Remember to identify yourself with name, surname and ID. Please answer all the questions correctly, that will be your grade. You can try several times until you complete 100.

6. ARCHITECTURAL DRAWINGS

PERSONAL CONCLUSION

We worked on a Nearpod presentation that was useful to know and lear about important concepts of the architectural drawings.

DUE: 4/2/2022 EXPLANATION This space is to upload evidence (printscreens) of the activity of your room developed with Mr. Ed.

13. LIVE HOME 3D

PERSONAL CONCLUSION

I think that starting to create spaces in 3D model programs was very imporant because we had to pay attention to details, lengths, heights and anything that can affect an area.

DUE: 4/3/2022 EXPLANATION We are going to learn the different types of shades when we usually draw with sunlight or a desklamb light. You are going to deliver 2 different drawings types of an object close to you!.. (it could be a fruit, ball or a chess piece).

3.1 - A THEORY OF LIGHT AND SHADE

PERSONAL CONCLUSION

I liked this activity because I like to draw, giving dimentions to an apple in paper was funny for me cause I used my imagination.

DUE: 7/3/2022 EXPLANATION Individually you'lll be making the following: A cardboard model of the exact same cube that you made with clay and 3 cut off the corners. Once you're done, take GOOD pictures, that show ALL of the faces and make a powerpoint presentation.

11.- MY CLAY CUBE IN A CARDBOARD SCALE MODEL

PERSONAL CONCLUSION

Making a cardboard scale model of the cube was easy but making the corner sections was difficult, i find this activity really intersting cause it need time and effort to make this cardboard forms.

DUE: 9/3/2022 EXPLANATION Shape. Remember to work the operations of the form, make design a priority. Include: Sketches of the top and side views (plan and elevations) Conceptual model Materials. How is this shelter going to be built? List the materials for the shelter (in real life) Materials for the scale model Environment. The position and orientation in the specific location you've chosen

CHALLENGE. ACTIVITY 3. FIRST DELIVERY OF MY SHELTER

PERSONAL CONCLUSION

Me and my partner worked on how the shelter would look first with paper forms and a 3d model in sketchup, we knew this was going to define the final delivery and we considered it important

DUE: 17/3/2022 EXPLANATION This activity will help you understand the following concepts: Main commands defining elements of space Graphic design and threedimensional (3D) modeling based on its main views You will learn to represent objects in three dimensions and 3D objects Create large designs precision, from basic lines and figures

12.- CUBE SKETCHUP MODELING

PERSONAL CONCLUSION

This activity helped me a lot to understand how sketchup works, i think this was an important activity because of that and I wanted more activitys shaping 3d forms like this.

DUE: 18/3/2022 EXPLANATION Include all the process you underwent to create the shelter. Include sketches, which must be iterative and progressive where the evolution of decision making and design of the modular shelter is appreciated Pictures of the scale model with a human scale over solid background (show various views) Photoshop of the model on the actual location you decided for your shelter Details of different types of slammers or building blocks of your shelter (if applies). Pictures under natural daylight

EVIDENCE 1.PROCESS LOG OF YOUR SHELTER

PERSONAL CONCLUSION

We compiled the most important details of our shelter such as the materials, purpose, location, etc.

DUE: 19/3/2022 EXPLANATION IYou'll be making a VIDEO which talks all about your modular shelter. Think of this as your five minute pitch or shark tank pitch to convince investors to actually build your modular shelter. Your pitch should be designed to impress, inform and persuade. Include: Location Use (concept) Material selection Form of shelter Scale model Proportions Etc... HTTPS://WWW.YOUTUBE.COM/WATCH?V=WEGXI7KMYYS

EVIDENCE 2.MY FINAL VIDEO

PERSONAL CONCLUSION

We considered important to talk about the details because that is how we present our shelter once we choose the purpose, and the goal we wanted to achieve.

DUE: 19/3/2022 EXPLANATION You need to decide the materials you will be using in your shelter... both the model and the 1:1 scale model (We are not actually going to build it, but as a designer you need to know everything about your shelter). The budget is somewhat tight... up to $ 6,000 MXNP. Ask for quotes on different types of material, think about their properties before choosing... Put all the information together in a document that includes: - type of material (name and pictures) - dimensions - price - quantity that you'll be needing (an estimate) - TOTAL (under $6,000)

11.1 MATERIAL PROPOSAL. SHELTER AND CARDBOAR MODEL

PERSONAL CONCLUSION

It was important to know the materials we were going to use for the real life shelter, we did a list with the inside furniture and the materials for the structure.

DUE: 18/3/2022 EXPLANATION Feel free to use all the slammers that you want. Create shapes and forms that can be combined together from recycled cardboard materials. Create small and large scale sculpture using slotted sculpture techniques. Learn the techniques and practice creating slots and sliding separate pieces of cardboard together to combine shapes without the use of an adhesive

10.1 MY SLOTTED SCULPTURE

PERSONAL CONCLUSION

Making and using slammers was a different way to work for me, it was difficult to find a shape to the sculpture so i decided to make something abstract. Was impressive that the slammer didn´t fall
