ncreasing uncontrolled pollution on earth was the basis for the choice of the function which is the planetarium. planetarium is considered to be an intuitive form of protest that can be experienced, the aim is to declare that nowadays to see the beauty of nature alone we need technology to achieve.
he site of this project is at the island of gods, devata bali, indonesia.
the planetarium, which is an exhibition and museum type building has a need for a lightless space. but contradicts it, the tropical site tends to emphasize openness and involve vistas.
by drewing the red line from the design problem, the main ideas of this building concept is to express contradictions and explore bizarre paradoxes throughout the buildings.
egalwangi, jimbaran, south kuta, bali.
the initial compositions inspired by the basic concept of curved orbit which also express centric shape of natah.
the addition of a datum to bind the masses in the form of a bridge which is an abstraction from the universe (bhachakra)
the composition is adjusted according to the space requirements and contour, also the planetarium in the spherical mass as an earth abstraction (Pratiwi) was added as an accent.
contradictions was the first impression to be pursued from the design of the façade. between modern and traditional materials, round and square shapes, and contrast colors, but all are united by a red thread in the form of the connecting bhachakra bridge facade.
modernity >< vernacularism
exposure >< closure
smoothness >< roughness
the dense and narrow mass was stretched out, creating an interconnecting space, as well as the addition of the vertical axis in the middle as an abstraction of Heaven (Akasa).

natah is philosophically the most important part of balinese buildings, it is basically an innercourt which has deep meaning in it: the heaven touch the earth and created a void with livings in it
natah, which is the center of the building, is taken to be the main concept while still making it a foyer of all space, where natah has a lobby that connects to all places of activity in this building.
to reinforce the philosophy, the vertical axis of the natah is stretched vertically with the elements that unravel: Earth, water, a void that rises to the sky, and also the life created in it (plants) according to Natah's own basic philosophy.
rinangga montessori school for the blind
ndonesia is a developing country, however the education sector is still not getting enough attention and even less. moreover disability awareness in Indonesia is still low. the ministry of education and culture estimates up to 70% ABK (Children with Special Needs) doesn’t receive a proper education
the site of this project is at the land of pasundan, bandung, west java, Indonesia.
The site is considered very suitable for implementing montessori schools but less suitable for implementation in schools with disabilities because of the extreme contour.
“give a man a fish and he’ll feed for a day, teach a man to fish and he’ll live everyday”
the concept of this school is to make use of the contour as a playful playground to improve sensing ability instead of seeing it as a disadvantage
ibeunying, bandung, west java.
the centralized composition zoning, circular shape was a representation of a school that has no corners and is childfriendly
the main concept of the school as mentioned earlier is playful design, to achieve the desirable benefits of the concept, sensory method was applied to the playful design base.
visual sensory applied to enhance the perception of space for the ones with impaired visions.
the active movement of vestibular is extracted from the montessori, to improve sensing ability.
tactile is the main sensor used by the blind, the application in this school is to differentiate the meaning of a space.
audial is applied in this building as a checkpoint of important spaces identified by different sounds.
the olfactory applied by using smell to be the class identity.
after the zoning defined, the axis added to separate the functions.
the terracing contour adjusted to be a playful playground yet not harmful for the children and the impaired vision.
detailings added, design revolves around minimalize cut and fill and circulation optimization
The round perforated facade is a symbol of the playful concept embodied in the facade, the geometric shape opening and bright contrast colors also has the function of helping the perception of the visually impaired.

gran meliá hotel & resort, torok hill
ran melia expands its wings to lombok island on torok hill, and inspiral architects was given an honor to design the area.
the given area was highly contoured yet a high reward of vista of the sea.
the contour will be taken as a unique experience for the user, making the villas terraced with infinity views and sequencing journey as the user walk themselves deeper into the site.
torok hill, lombok.
the design aim of torok beachfront’s roof was to provide interesting experience sequence within the limited time given.
modular design concept was implemented therefore the design could provide interesting form yet as efficient as possible that every changes in floor plan would not heavily affect the 3d modelling and overall design. interesting details taking form in a structural supports implements efficiency and honesty in the building.
my jobdesc in this project from the beginning was to resolve the missing links that cannot be handled due to the short period of time. the issue was no design connection from the main building to the beachclub building. so the aim was to redesign main building roof and the bridge connecting it to the beachclub according to the concept.
to achieve a highly efficient workflow, all the master files were compiled in revit. therefore to cut all unnecessary processes, the main building and connecting bridge modules were designed in revit as well by using mass and adaptive components.
the main building roof was designed to deliver a grand experience that carries the guests from the entrance to the sea-view restaurant. the exposed ceiling showcases the exploration of structural design. the space truss concept was chosen because of the flexibility and widespan capability.
the connecting bridge idea was to deliver a sequencing experience as a transition from the main building to the beachclub building. since the beachclub is the terminal destination for the sequence, it was designed to be the wildest and most unique roof of the whole site, meanwhile the main building was designed to be more welcoming and grand, so the challenge of designing the bridge was to design a modular yet unique and complex composition.
to achieve uniqueness and modularity, a triangle base was chosen. the design was inspired by the gothic arches, that can be recreated by bamboo to form a sequencing spatial experience.

gurih 7 restaurant, puncak
gurih 7 is one of the known sundanese restaurants in bogor, indonesia, which wishes to thrive even more within the area. inspiral architects was given the opportunity to design a unique resto as a pioneer in puncak.
learning from previous problems that occurred in the predecessor resto, the clients want a unique design that accommodates efficiency in ergonomic space usage.
the design will use the flexibility concept within simplified general planning.
orok hill, lombok.
the site shape is classified as a linear type, therefore the concept departs from one single line as the axis that forms a strong hierarchy throughout the site. the narrow and irregular boundary line treated in an introverted manner, the site seeks oasis within itself, then does not require much views to the outside.
in this project, i was given the opportunity to deliver the principal’s main idea and develop it within the team. my part was to be in charge of general concept, planning, and design development of the main building and dining saung.
the main building is strategically placed at the heart of the site, providing a welcoming space for guests. It serves as a stopping point after a significant walk between the saungs. the design concept focuses on striking yet fluid architecture that creates a focal point throughout the layout.
he open spaces within the main building are designed to accommodate the tropical weather needs, while the unique tiered dining areas offers different perspectives of space on every level. it also works as a solution to the extreme site contour. the steel truss arches keeps the space clean from column, concealed by the bamboo weaving and rafters, observers won’t see any secret behind the magical space.
the space above the main building is optimized as a convention hall that can host multiple events simultaneously. Carefully planned circulation paths ensure a separate flow for the restaurant and other areas, minimizing interference. with steel structure and lightweight roof material, further optimization of space could be achieved due to no structures pop in the middle of the room.
The saung designs are rooted in a modular approach, driven by the goal of achieving efficient and rapid construction. Inspired by the traditional philosophy of sundanese culture, the aim is to preserve the esteemed “lesehan” experience.
the dining
built upon the foundation of the main building design, it seamlessly integrate with undulating roofs from the main building roof.
he modules are well composed, creating a smooth transition between rows and levels, further enhancing the visual harmony and cohesion between the structures . these designs prioritize privacy requirements and feature ergonomic research to enhance the comfort of “lesehan” seating.

the transition - bintaro design district 2020
bintaro design district (BDD) is a creative community located in bintaro, tangerang, Indonesia. It serves as a platform for designers and artists to showcase their work, collaborate, and engage with the local community. Through events, exhibitions, and workshops, BDD promotes design, art, and creativity while contributing to the cultural and economic development of the area.
the theme for bdd 2020 was “common future”, by which we are supposed to express what we perceive as a future from a design perspective.
the idea will explore contradictory and sequential design language, as we perceive that today’s

the primary focus of the exhibition's storyboard is to showcase the inherent beauty found within paradoxes, using various forms and textures as expressive elements. This serves as an analogy for life, where each stage often presents us with unwelcome surprises; however, by approaching these experiences from a different perspective, we may discover the profound beauty they hold.
our passage across different time periods creates patterns, sometimes characterized by regularity, but also exhibiting certain mutations. By maintaining a deliberate sense of purpose and direction, we aspire for our evolution to align with our intentions.
paradoxes are inherent in any line of thinking, often driven by the pursuit of universal truths. The relationship between the collective and the individual is always a dynamic interplay, and fostering greater interconnectedness serves as a means to achieve harmony.
Change is an unavoidable aspect of life, but what sets us apart is our response to it whether we find ourselves captivated by the process or persistently deny its occurrence.
within the entrance, the distinction between inside and outside is very pronounced, much like our present time between our natural selves and our technogical existence.
this natural existence is what we yearn for. Smooth, playful, weightless and connecting to both natural elements and each other. we feel secure and inspired.

the rampant disasters in Indonesia have recently traumatized many people. The most vulnerable to trauma are children, because children are deemed not to have adequate capacity to control emotions and solve problems adaptively. therefore, something right is needed to help children express fear, anxiety, pessimism which also foster hope and optimism about the future.

bhakti ganva ‘18
organization project
2.0
bhakti ganva is a collaboration project of civil engineer and architecture student of parahyangan catholic university. the ego of a designer often consume the user. probably that is a phrase most suitable to describe this project.
the local birds inhibit the loosen insulation, the brutalism style is being seen as “incomplete building” by the villagers, the excessive openings not suitable for the windy site.
in this project, due to regulation change, our year of project only took a semester instead of the usual length of 2 semester. so we decided to not forcing our ego to build something during the given time, but we should make sure that all the buildings that has been built is useful for the user. we found that the building that been built 2 year prior is forsaken by the villagers, due to “alien” design that’s not familiar to the user nor being fit to site to the environment.
although the design is not as pretty as the former, the function of a building clearly fulfilled after the renovation.
we contacted the students who participated in constructing the building, and have a “redesign” project, doing questionnaire and fulfill the needs of the user.
