Leonardo da Vinci is generally recognized as one of the great geniuses of all time - even in his own time he was known as the 'Divine Leonardo'.
Vasari, his biographer, a painter in his own right and an astute observer of his contemporaries, made this observation: 'The gifts that Leonardo possessed seemed unlimited, extending to all areas of human knowledge and skill - artist, scientist, architect, musician, engineer, court entertainer, inventor and philosopher'.
Leonardo is generally considered to be the ultimate 'Renaissance man', a man capable of turning his mind to anything. We have his notebooks to prove it, and what we will do is to explore his words, his achievement and his thinking and illustrate his words with my pictures.
