HOLLER! Axtone HQ, but more impor tantly so has the new single from head honcho Axwell. Center Of The Universe comes ar med with both an Original and Remode. We were excited as anyone when the masters dropped for this one. Axwell has had a busy few months release wise, dropping his take on Discopolis’ cinematic Falling (Committed To Sparkle Motion) and soundtracking Monsters University with Roar. We ki ck ed off the early par t of 2013 wit h a rather loud bang with the release of Wakan da and Rasputin. The for mer by Belgian duo Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike and the latter by Russi an Brothers, Hard Rock Sofa; both of which stor med the Beatpor t char ts and the global DJ frater nities’ playlists. It’s fair to say that these records were a polarizer for fans of the label, gar nering a fascinating online debate over the ‘Axtone sound’. For anyone wondering what the Axtone sound currently stands for, the remit is the same today as when the label was conceived eight years ago. To release music that we love and only that. The core will always be quality house music, but with a broad musical palate we are only limited by our personal tas tes, not by styles or trends.

I started out as a producer and later on became a DJ as well. I have released several solo singles as well as collaborations with artists like Dragonette, Diplo, Noisia and Example. Describe yourself. I like to just describe it as electronic music. I use my the creative state I am in at that moment. I always spend a lot of time crafting new sounds & ideas in the studio and in a lot of my songs I like to use vocals as an instrument within the composition, I think that is probably one of my most important trademarks. How did you come into the Axtone family? "Starlight (Could You Be Mine)" song and he reacted back enthusiastically straight away. Not long after that he started playing the record during the last SHM concerts and he signed the record to Axtone. Ax then sent over some on point A&R remarks, we went back and forth over e-mail and eventually record and am very excited to be a part of the Axtone family, not only because Axwell is one of the best producers out there, the quality of the releases on the label have always stood out to me as well.

NG INCOMI

DO

Besides the obvious DJ dates left and right I have mainly been developing a full on interactive visual live show in Los Angeles together with the guys at VSquared labs, who have also created the Amon Tobin and Skrillex shows in the past. The new show will be titled "Don Diablo presents Hexagon" and I am very excited about it, because it combines my music. I just felt like I needed to take things a step further, even though it costing a lot time and money I know it will all be worth it in the end. We will Dance Event (ADE) in October and will then start doing selected dates with the show. I am also working on a lot of new releases in the studio, so I album early 2014. Before that I will release several singles that I’ve produced in the last 12 months and that I’m very excited about! And I will hopefully be touring throughout 2014. Ambitions for the future? album that I can share with the world. Working with ened my horizon as a producer and a writer and the same goes for this release on Axtone. In the future all I can ask for is that I get better at what I do and hopefully I can keep growing as an artist. I also want to expand the Hexagon liveshow with more features in 2014 and beyond. And last but not least I hope to be a part of festivals like Coachella, EDC and Ultra Music Festival in the near future as well.

1.

STROLL AROUND IBIZA OLD TOWN

For a real taste of Ibiza head over to Old Town on the South-East coast of the island. In the habourside quater the narrow, cobbled streets are bustling with bars, restaurants and fashionable boutiques; a perfect place to soak up the atmosphere. Then take a stroll up to Data Vila, the historic centre of Ibiza Old Town. It’s a climb but worth it for the panaramic views of the island.

2.

CHARTER A BOAT & GO DIVING Whether it’s for some exhilarating fun, a romantic getaway or just plain chilling... hire a boat. There are a number of companies on the island offering boat trips or daily privatecharters. It’s the perfect way to explore the Ibiza and Formentera coastlines. If you’re tempted to get in the warm, clear waters you should head to one of the island’s dive schools. They cater for beginner and advanced divers and will show you all the best dive spots including shipwrecks and underwater caves.

3.

GRAB A BITE AT THE FISH SHACK

Hidden away near on the edge of Talamanca, The Fish Shack is one of the islands best kept secrets. Head down to the Sa Punta restaurant, then go straight past it. You’re going off the beaten track but eventually you’ll see the hidden canopies of the Shack come into view. There’s no menu - but the fish is the best around. Try the grilled prawns and squid, or the dorada.

1. Tip for producing whilst touring? T. G : Always have a backup solution - at home. Make security copies of your ongoing projects and mixes or tracks. and if possible of all other stuff as well. Could be an USB or hard drive. If your laptop crashes or gets lost while travelling you will have your copies at home and at least it's not all gone. T. G : I n this order: 1) Have my coffee. 2) Check what’s happening on Twitter. 3) Read the newspaper online.

pillow? T. G : Relax and watch some TV. T. G : iTunes - I love that you can watch and listen to all those TV series, movies and of course the music - wherever you are.

T. G : Twitter and Skype, for sure.

FIRE FIVE 1. Tip for producing whilst touring? S.I: Tr y to get back the feeling of the night you've just played and think about what kind of feel you want to give the track. This works really w el l for us , we make ideas and set ups then work them out in the studio later. Don't go for the quick and easy result.

R AY: For me that's the weather repor t on my phone and after that I'll read some new tweets and see what the DJ world has been up to. JIM: I star t my day with some bouncy music. It gives me energy and wakes me up like a fresh news when I'm eating breakfast, at least when I'm at home.

R AY: I like to watch the Dutch news repor t or a good detective before I hit the sack. JIM: I like to read a novel to get my mind off things.

S.I: W hen we want to take a shor t break we end up watching fail compilations, police chases and "men and beast" compilations for hours. Make sure you don't google the men and beast compilations. You'll regret it ;-)

R AY: Bad Piggies; the follow up to Angr y Birds. It's a game I just can't stop playing. JIM: My phone is a bit boring, my favourite app is WhatsApp!
