Planning The kindergarten is designed to be isolated from the rest of the school for the kids safety. It has an open plan with offices and restrooms. Because their study doesn’t require specific areas, the teachers can use partitions to make areas big enough for the activity they are doing, and not bound kids within a specific space, but rather give them the freedom to expand their thinking. The roof can be walked over with and encircled with safety railing. Also, there are separate play areas from the rest of the campus. The primary school spaces are planned for larger classrooms and located in a 2 floor building. The outdoor space includes a playground, maze, open theater and gardening space. The middle and high school is a 3 floor building with a media center on the ground floor. The gymnasium and play fields are to be used by all students and is closest to the middle and high school. The administration and common areas are in the middle of the complex and include a theater, cafeteria, library and outdoor exhibition space. The landscape features include a running track, sports fields, grass hills, an open outdoor theater, a gardening space, and an open festival gallery between all the schools for events.

Mosque Design
11
Group project with Amna Attai Location Dubai, Knowledge Village Task Design a mosque Concept and approach The inspiration for the form was from the horizontal and vertical element of ‘Dubai pearl’ which is an iconic building beside the site. The site is drop-shaped. There were many constraints, the most inconvenient being making the building oriented towards al-quibla and the parking entrance. The mosque is designed to include spaces for prayer halls, toilets, ablution areas, a library, and residences for Iman, Muazen and the help.

Science Laboratories
Location Dubai, Dubaiotech (the emirate’s biotechnology research park.) Task Design a G+4 Laboratory Building Concept and approach The approach was an experimental one which is based on incremental rotation that is inspired from wind turbulence. Each floor of the building was designed for a specific function, and ways of egress were studied well to provide a safe environment. Each lab was designed for a different Biosafety level (BSL) according to the use.

RESIDENTIAL BUILDING
21
Location Dubai, Merdif Task Design a multistory residential building (G+4). Concept and approach Deconstructive architectural approach is used to produces the masses of the design. The building has 240 apartments including one, two, and three bedroom apartments. The concept came from the idea of the Arabian house which has a courtyard for family activities and gatherings. Therefore, the design includes all activities a family needs in the same building, while stressing on the linkage between community and socialization. This was achieved by providing the ground floor of the building with a courtyard, sports complex, swimming pool, play fields, parking spaces, gardens, a library, and shops.

ART GALLERY
Task Design an art gallery on the seaside in Sharjah city. Concept and approach To remodel a light house in an abstract form, since the lighthouse has always been an inspiration for artists. It is the main form with its platform that includes the main gallery, and a restaurant on the highest levels of the tower. The buildings around it represent the raging sea that have complementary spaces including the library, auditorium, gift shop and common areas. An outdoor gallery and a semi-open gallery are also provided in the design.

KINDERGARTEN Task Design a kindergarten on a square site in a residential area. Concept and approach To represent the school years by architectural vocabulary. A straight path represents ones’ journey in life, 18 columns represents school years, and cube shapes symbolize security and stabilization. Fun elements are also integrated as slopes, water pools and sand boxes. To the left are all the classrooms, and to the right is the administration, the multipurpose hall, the cafeteria, and library.

Architectural Design 1 : Spring 2010
KIOSK Task Design a kiosk on the university campus.
Concept and approach For this design, a deconstructive shape was used for the form, and an organic approach for the landscape. Although the form is contradicting with the university buildings that are very geometric in shape, the material reflects its surroundings. Seating and shading devices are integrated within the design.
