Mirdif City Center Site Analysis

SITE: Mirdif City Center, Dubai UAE CLIENT: LOTOCOHO is a label of creation that translates signs into symbols, landscapes and concepts to create unique jewelry by using geometry as a universal language. CONCEPT: As the customers enter the showroom they are greeted with a suspended 3-dimensional sculpture. This sculpture is then deconstructed and used as an inspiration to design the suspended lights of the showroom. This sculpture is a translation of Lotocoho’s 2-dimensional logo which is mirrored directly under it on the showroom floor. The jewelry is designed to be the center of attention by incorporating different materials into the jewelry displays. Mirdif City Center Site Analysis 06

CONCEPT: Design Build is a collaborative group project between 13 interior design students. The purpose of this project is to create a comfortable place for students to both socialize and work. The design is built around a dead end space underneath the main stairs. The space includes a built-in display area that allows students to display their personal works along with a built-in projector to help transform the zone into a theatre leisure space or a presentation work oriented space. The inspiration behind this build is the Arabic tent “Khaimah. The design consists of two main materials which are ash wood and rope. The ash wood was used along with an exposed steel structure to carry the overall construction. In addition, the ropes were used for a comfortable and flexible seating experience that takes the shape of the human body.

Pottery 4rth Year Design Studio | Spring Semester 2017 CONCEPT: Pottery for me was a breath of fresh air. Initially it started out as a chore, however after spending countless hours forming and molding clay, it became something I needed to do out of love and not something required to do. At first, I struggled forming objects out of clay however with enough practice, diligence, dedication and perseverance I was able to form the following pots on display. 62

63

TYPOGRAPHIC DESIGN | MAGAZINE Design Masters| Fall Semester 2018

USERS: Young adults, older adults and people with health issues PROJECT: This project is about creating a trusted magazine using one chosen color and representing its meaning through the overall design. The color chosen for this brief was Green. There are many different meanings for green however, for this project it only focuses on three, which are, nature, growth, and health. CONCEPT: The design focuses on creating a minimal and peaceful layout with the concept of a healthy diet aiming to encourage people to eat and live a healthier life style. The magazine is based on a watercolor theme expressing the idea of the juices that flow and spills out of fruits, vegetables and meats when preparing for a meal. In addition, it includes the color stains that remain along with the textures it leaves behind. All these characteristics have been accounted for to creating a playful and visual interactive design. Overall, the design is balanced between text and visuals for people to enjoy and understand. 64

USER INTERFACE DESIGN | SKY Masters Degree | Fall Semester 2018

USERS: Fashion bloggers, teens, anyone interested in keeping up with top fashion, and people who need wardrobe help and guidance CLIENT: The objective of this project is to produce a digital product that concentrates on creating an authentic sense of emotion and excitement for the user. According to Sky, an international multimedia news organization based in the UK, by fighting for people’s attention, we must support autonomy, control and self, else we risk bewildering and ultimately losing, our audience. CONCEPT: By widening Sky’s success, the project developed a new application that focuses on introducing Sky with a brandnew channel of Sky Fashion. The app allows interested people to keep up with the latest fashion designs, learn tips and tricks and engage with other users. Sky Fashion App Link: https://pr.to/A6IQ4G/ 65

PORTION CONTROL PACKAGING Masters Degree | Spring Semester 2018

USERS: Parents and guardians who are purchasing and dispensing the food products for children CLIENT + PROBLEM: In a group of 5 designers, this project aimed at promoting healthy portion control of high energy dense snacks/drinks commonly consumed by children. The goal of the ‘Downsizing’ project is to inform and educate both guardian and child about the correct portion control sizes; with the intention that they become familiar with correct measurements in preparation through packaging. Having Marks and Spencer as the chosen brand, the group and I decided to pick 2 different flavoured biscuits and juice to re-package; using environment friendly, sustainable materials. CONCEPT: To further promote healthy portion control, an in-store advertising plays an important role for customers at the point of sales. The design is an in-store mobile approach that promotes the final design outcomes of 2 fla-vored biscuits and juice. The design focuses on the targeted audience by including different heights, playful illustrations, necessary signage, and a soft color palette to represent the products. The mobile advertisement can be seen from all sides along with the wildlife theme along with the animal illustrations carrying the selling snack. 66

CONCEPT: Before designing, extensive research, data collection and testing have been made to identify the problems and patients preferences. The new design provides an improved, user-friendly, instructional booklet that carries the essential information along with visually drawn illustrations that complement the text. As shown by research, visualizing information can be an essential tool in enhancing comprehension and recall for all levels of literacy. The booklet uses warm colors and well-structured pages with subject dividers as a helpful tool to finding information faster.

CLIENT + PROBLEM: The National Health Service (NHS) is a public health cooperation that strives to improve people’s lives, health, and wellbeing in the UK. The project focuses on redesigning the NHS instructions booklet on bowel cancer screening preparations. Since bowel cancer is one of the most common cancers in the UK, patients are given important information on how to prepare for the procedure. The clarity of this information is a main factor to a better bowel preparation. However, due to its poor design, the booklet, lacks visuals and is text dense therefore, leading to many inadequate results.

CLIENT + PROBLEM: In a group of 3; this project contributes to the design development/improvement of the information on the Military Intelligence Security Service Government website. The MI5 is an organization that aims to protect the UK and its citizens from any possible terror threats. Their mission is to create a positive difference, however, their current webpage on terrorism carry three main problems, (1) the amount of text, (2) the lack of legibility through their visualization and, (3) the absence of information provided. CONCEPT: The aim of this project is to create an infographic and motion graphics video that is accessible, attractive and, user-friendly. The design is assembled using storytelling illustrations that carry the practical basics of line, colour, form, and composition. The content focuses on three main actions the public must follow, (Inform, Escape, Help) along with the necessary guidelines under each action. This has been developed through extensive primary and secondary research including many usability tests. In addition, the design outcomes have been achieved using the principles of information/instructional design and user-centered design research.
