AYESHA BROWN
hello!
I’m a graphic artist/illustrator or as I prefer to say a ‘creative space invader’. With key interests in packaging, editorial and animation my designs seek to provide creative solutions to design problems. Fluid, full of flair and occasionally funny, drawing is at the heart of all my work.

PENGUIN STUDENT DESIGN AWARDS AYESHA BROWN
BRIEF

CONCEPT Using visual metaphors, and trying to stay away from the atypical image of a bird for a front cover, this drawing of protagonist ‘Scout’ reflects the conflict of prejudice and childish innocence. The crown of thorns/ doubling as a birds nest aims to reflect the quote featured in the first phrase of the copy for the blurb. “Shoot all the bluejays you want, if you can hit ‘em, but remember it’s a sin to kill a mockingbird.”

D&AD - MONOTYPE AYESHA BROWN
BRIEF Produce a typography led campaign, product or service that will get people interested in a culture that you feel is misunderstood, misrepresented or under-represented.
AYESHA BROWN
CONCEPT Far too often, the 26 islands of that make the Caribbean are underepresented in favour of Caribbeans being grouped together as being Jamaicans. I decided to produce a multi-function stress-relief kit that would inform users about other Caribbean countries as well as some well needed relaxation. The kits contained sand from different Caribbean countries, a booklet with information about the country featured and stencils featuring and embelem inspired by signifcant cultural symbols.

SQUISH HOUSE RE-BRAND AYESHA BROWN
BRIEF
Squish House whilst successful in its production of streetwear fashion garments was seriously lacking in its branding, a change was needed to awaken more users to the Birmingham based spirtiual fashion line.
AYESHA BROWN
AYESHA BROWN
CONCEPT Squish House wasn’t really working for the target audience that the client was trying to attract, so after some persuasion ‘awoken’ was born. Fusing the zen and abstract shapes that are heavily featured throughout the collections, the new brand concept cements this indpendent Birmingham brand on the streetwear scene as a one-to-watch.

ANAMNESIS AYESHA BROWN
BRIEF To work in collaboration with four other visual communicators, stylists and make-up artists to produce a 3-10 minute fashion film to promote graduate fashion designer Jo Mills.
AYESHA BROWN
AYESHA BROWN
CONCEPT The story behind Jo’s collection focuses on the deterioration of the mind due to the effects of Alzheimer’s. The rope represents two contrasting ideas. It symbolizes the person being trapped and constricted by the disease but also them attempting to hang onto the memories which are slipping away from them. We decided to use these two concepts at the core of our film.

THE LIGHT CYCLE AYESHA BROWN
BRIEF The Light Cycle is a new iniative started by Birmingham City University to celebrate the best work from art, design and media. As part of Inspired festival, the selected artworks chosen by a panel of judges are then projected across different landmarks and areas of Birmingham.
AYESHA BROWN
CONCEPT Playing on the classic phrase ‘See no evil, Hear no evil, Speak no evil,’ ‘Speak No Evil to Everyone was an editorial illustration for Culture of Birmingham magazine. At a time of mass islamaphobia and ignorance amongst allegations of trojan horse schemes to install Sharia Law in state schools , the piece came as a much needed message of support for Muslim communities.
