Trigon A lighting product family for METU alley, ďŹ tting campus identity and environment. 2017 (Graduation Project)

Energy Saving with Sensors Campus alley is not used frequently at night. Because of this, pole top increases its light (number of LEDs) when people comes around it by detecting them with sensors. The other aim of this is not to disturb animals and plants on campus with intensive light.

Wi-Fi and Sockets Outside of buildings in campus, Internet access is not available everywhere. When people wants to study or have fun on the grass, they can need Internet and charge for PCâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s or phones. Pole tops provide them Internet and electricity.

Voice from Control Center / One by One from Users Trigon promotes activities by having its own speaker and it is used in activities not only in the central system that includes couples of Trigon but also separate speakers.

Music or Announcements

USB and Plug Sockets

Trigon has USB and plug sockets and also a place which came from its own form to put the device while charging it. In this way there is no need for standing up next to the pole top.

Meadows at Night

By using RGB LEDs on bollards, Trigon tries to create an ambiance when provides lighting to use grass at night.

Areas for Posters/ Exhibitions

Trigon enables to hang posters and make some exhibitions on its surface by regarding the social activities which take place in gathering areas such as; physics grass and library yard.

Solar Panels

Aiming the idea that METU should produce its own energy as a technical university, solar panels are used.

Researching

Overview A pumper that has all the necessary equipment for different types of incident, with various back-up equipment, emergency intervention kits and modular units.

Vision and Motivation -Creating an apparatus suitable for various interventions. -Separetely transfering required tools as close as possible to the operation area. -Taking only required units to site instead of changing the whole vehicle according to seasonal needs. -Increasing efficiency of the intervention. -Optimizing the usage of parts by including modular systems. -Meeting the needs of the firefighters and ensuring their safety.

Form FireďŹ ghter apparatus is designed as a whole while considering current vehicle types to make a difference with graphics and form. Curves of the cabin is sustained to come up with a form. Ultimate look is prepared to refer stateliness and power.

Aim Aim of Optio is interfering different types of incidents, to do so Optio has so many design solutions to make these interventions successful. Such as; extra (back-up) tools, extensive water tank, easily assembling systems to save the time and effective usage of lay out of the tools.

Usage Scenerios Disaster Scenerio

According to place of incident, there could be earthquakes etc. In these situations it is hard to reach the venue and to interfere for a long time.

Such long interventions cause insufﬁciency of tools, therefore Optio has extra (back-up) tools for interfering on and on.

By using modular parts and extra tools, ﬁreﬁghters can interfere uninterrupted.

Fire Scenario

When the alarm is rung, the squad leaves the station as soon as possible. Aprx in 1 minute.

After deciding on the type of intervention, they set their tools by starting with suitable nozzle or reel.

According to the fire magnitude, firefighters decide on amound of vehicle to interfere.

If they decide on laying out hoses, there is need for extra manpower. They can assemble hoses with their sled in the vehicle.

If ladder is needed, they can reach the ladder from back side of the Optio. The ladder is easy to reach and carry with two people (time saving).

The intervention is completed in time, by reaching all tools quickly and make them ready to use fastly.

Trafﬁc Accident Scenario

If the intervention is an accident, they interfere according to the situation. Depending on the time there could be trafﬁc jam.

When the traffic is completely jammed, firefighters use the modular part to interfere immediately.

The portable part has basic intervention tools and its own otomatic folding system, so they easily make the tool ready.

The modular part is movable by its own wheel system, so ﬁreﬁghters quickly reach the venue.

There is a small seperator (holmatro), ﬁrst aid kit and some other tools to take the action.

Fireﬁghters are able to interfere successfully and immediately by using the modular part.

User Observation with ERM (experience reflection modelling) session It is a design research method which helps users express and externalize their needs, experiences, preferences and expectations about a cooker.

And she tryed some combinations.

For these purposes, we prepare some 3D models for our interviewee. We ask about different types of cooking and she told about her cooking problems, she wanted some features from us.

Usage Scenarios

When Ayşe see the product’s properties in the website, she decides to buy it and orders it.

Cargo is come and she opens the box, takes out product’s parts.

Firstly, she ﬁt the plate to the base and then she put the pot to the platform.

And then, she put the meal into pot, she adjusts temperature and time and starts to cook her meal.

While she searching on the Internet she sees the tile plate of the product and she decide to buy it and give a barbeque party.

She carries the platform parts to the balcony and sets the barbeque conﬁguration.

She cooks ﬁsh on the tile plate, while speaking with her friends.

She serves the ﬁsh and they eat them on the balcony.

Usage Scenarios

Arkus A furniture design for new generationâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s work practices. 2015 in collaboration with Nurus.

Diversity & Usage

Arcus provides a LCD screen, a pinboard and a white board for presentations. It separates or creates an area to help employees, especially teams or groups, which working on a project and having to do quick meetings, evaluation and planning their project, to be isolated and focused.

Stop Design solution that inspire collective creativity and environmental avareness in METU campus. 2014

Idea Generation, Sketches and Moodboard If it is under the shadow of trees, this is made out of perforated metal or opal glass. Solar panels can be used to generate its own energy.

Where the table lamp light is not enough, post top has an indirect lighting, not to disturb animals on the campus.

At the bottom, there are LEDs.

It can be used just as a table for exhibition and etc.

When it is closed, it can be used as a board.

Foldable desk and table. Icons: To make recycling baskets readable some icons can be used. Baskets can also made out of perforated metal.

Overview Table when needed (ie. exhibitions, sales, outside course work, knowledge sharing as a group like to teach origami...) panels are converted to tables.

This is a seating unit that groups can gather to make information sharing. They can be used in various combinations.

When tables are off, panels can be used to hang posters, exhibit photographs etc., in addition to be back part of seats. Seats behind the panels will still be available to relax or to perform other activities like playing or teaching guitar.

Inspired by seating units, recycling unit is formed by taking into account wet weather conditions, and ease of use, like throwing away the garbage without touching basketsâ&#x20AC;&#x2122; covers.

Overview In bathrooms, water is usually used at a certain temperature in some seasons and can be changed another seasons. Adjusting water to a proper temperature every time when it used, leads to waste of it.

Faucet is inspired by branches that do not have any sharp edges so it is easy to clean it.

There is an independent temperature adjustment lever to prevent over usage of water.

It also aimes enabling to change ďŹ xtures by using common taps.
