By keeping the previous positioning of creating Intelligence and Health driven development, project had a vision to make the place ; - A Center for International Education of Guizhou - A New Waterfront Livable World of Guiyang - A Health and SPA Leader of Guiyang - A Vibrant Town Center
As the key project drivers are set to be an International School ( which Atkins commissioned to be designing , with 5000 student capacity) , a leading Spa and Wellness center and a creative business center and a commercial hub. Project also involves in providing a sustainable riverfront park design ideas which integrates the riverfront park into the communities and public places to enhance the quality of lifestyle. A water sensitive urban design for the rivers edge is the main design principle of the project along with the other low carbon considerations within the project.
Beijing Tanzhesi 3rd District Detailed Urban Design and Urban Design Guidelines Project - Ongoing
Location : Tanzhe Town - Beijing Site Area : 1.3 KM2 Working Position : Associate Principal Urban Planner / Designer It is the detailed urban design and urban design guidelines of third district of Tanzhesi project. The project sought the most appropriate design solutions to promote living standards in Tanzhe town by introducing contemporary design solutions that have considerable successful precedent cases implemented in China previously.

The project mainly had two aims ; firstly is to create an attractive tourism town and secondly to enhance the community life by introducing appropriate place making decisions.
Secondly for enhancing the community life, project looked into different ways around the world. By respecting and preserving Chinese style community life culture some worldwide recognised techniques also introduced such as ‘‘ Woonerf ’’.
In order to achieve these, project had deep research on how to generate tourism attraction to improve town`s vision not only by looking into Chinese traditional cases
Because it is a detailed urban design project , architecture style has been considered in a great deal and cases like Xin Tian Di - Shanghai, Hangzhou and Foshan style
modern interpretation of Chinese traditional architecture proposed for the architecture style especially on public buildings. Introducing sustainable design solutions has been a key from the beginning of the project and the design provided innovative methods in the overall especially in integrating river and riverside park with the tourism and community. Water sensitive urban design methods and waters edge study emphasized greatly to hold the existing water sources and to keep it sustainably.
Harbin Sun Island West Festival Park Master Plan and Urban Design Project - Ongoing
Location : Sun Island - Harbin Site Area : 7.1 KM2 Working Position : Team Coordinator Associate Principal Urban Planner / Designer The project is located in a prime space, in the heart of today`s Harbin City. The site is named Sun Island which had been well known as the city`s suburban recreation and leisure park as the island used to be on the near outskirts of the city center. As the city grows and expands towards the north of the island and the central government moves to the north, Sun Island became a central recreation, leisure and festival place. It holds the famous International Ice and Snow Festival every year and the project site also covers one part of the Ice and Snow festival. In this context, the project aims to create an International Ice-Snow-Water Festival & Entertainment Destination by introducing a new concentrated leisure and entertainment attractions to the whole Sun Island Park. In order to do this the project upgrades the park by providing attractive products that would strengthen the `a year round ` Festival Park and Holiday Park function in a themepark feeling setting.
With a 0.25 FAR, the project consists of ; a 700-800 m long indoor ski center/ hotel / conference & exhibition center mixed use complex, an indoor water park, retail street,, entertainment facilities ( kids indoor water sports, kids talent center, toys world, theatre, cinema and KTV), food and bar street, sports center ( gym and indoor sports facilities), wellness center, ice and snow festival park ( that hold one part of yearly int`l ice & snow festival) , holiday park ( which will accommodate international culture themed resorts). The place making strategy of the project is to arrange the functions in a park-like setting and concentrate the developments around a big lake in order to provide best accessibility to all attractions in convenience. Therefore the park that surrounds the entertainment hub could accommodate the open air activities and festivals, most importantly the ice & snow festival and a number of festivals that has been held in Harbin City since the past which implies the cultural importance of Harbin City in China.

Location : Zhangzhou-Zhangpu Site Area : Three sites - 17 km2 Working Position : Team Coordinator-Senior Urban Planner / Designer The Site is composed of three separated sites (Site 1Site 2 and Site 3) but located along the same coastline in Zhangzhou City near Xiamen on Taiwan Strait. Xiamen is an island city located along the south central coast of China. It is a major regional hub for commerce and industry with important port and industrial facilities. Due to its recent economic expansion, Xiamen has fully developer the original island and must now engage the surrounding lands in order to support the region`s future growth. Therefore due to it is proximity to Xiamen, Zhangzhou plays an important role to support Xiamen City in terms of providing both first and second home living, tourism activities especially seafront hotels and resorts. Taiwan Strait is historically known as Formosa Coast. FORMOSA means “beautiful” in Portuguese and
the name was given by the Portuguese explorers when they sailed past in the 16th century.
XIAMEN
Basing on this historical and cultural elements the project aims to create an international waterfront destination by blending cultural and historical flavours into it as well as the natural beauties to catalyse Xiamen Citi`s growth. Total site area is 17 km2 and there are three separated sites connected by a main road which is linking to Xiamen City in the north. Project will be finalized by provision of three site`s master plans and detail urban design and control plans for site one which is going to start constructed in the mid 2012. Site one is positioned as luxury and exclusive waterfront destination with 18 hole golf park and island rivers luxury living areas, two marinas , five star waterfront hotel and resorts.

SITE 1 - GREEN HARBOUR Site 1 is the first development which is to be constructed straight after the project is completed. It has magnificent natural resources. Project aimed to utilize these elements into the concept by introducing distinctive tourism and entertainment hubs and luxury living around them. Creating quality tourism spots and accessible public commercial, entertainment and leisure facilities was the main objective of the project. Besides providing sustainable living environments by maximizing sea and golf view and creating internal landscape by utilizing existing river and water systems enhanced the overall quality . Almost 6 km2, site 1 is positioned as the major waterfront tourist destination and golf and luxury living environment. Site will accommodate 5 luxury hotels and resorts, high-end shopping and entertainment centres, imax cinema, riverside luxury villa living, yacht marinas and yacht community.

SITE 2 - GOLDEN RIVERS 5.5 km2 , site 2 has planned mainly to provide alternative living environments for all income people. Site is very close to Jian village that has characteristics of Minnan culture, therefore site 2 aimed to provide a culture and waterfront living centre for both local people and second home seeker in the near region. Luxurious Australian Gold Coast style canal villas, perfect sea view apartments right on the edge of the sea and internal lake view apartments and golf apartments and villas are the main types of property that would provide alternative choices.
Core culture, entertainment, leisure and living area is planned around the big internal lake and provides a sustainable compact mixed use centre that will be active and alive all day through. Pedestrian priority emphasised in order to create quality public realm in the project. Site will also provide two hotels and two resorts and a water sport complex.

SITE 3 - WHITE NATURE Site 3 is mainly aimed to accommodate a community living base for the industrial area employees that is located near the site. Site has valuable, grade one agricultural land which is protected and integrated with overall ecodevelopment concept. Existing villages living standards are to be promoted and enhanced by introducing accessible community centres, and public facilities located in the walkable distances. One of the characteristic feature of the site 3 is the existing twelve wind turbines which are placed along the sea and are in the proposed eco-energy park, that will provide a noise barriers for the developments around.

It`s first phase is already being built, the project is composed of three phases and Atkins commissioned to provide a master plan and detailed urban design plan and control plans for second and third phases. The site is located in the east of Guiyang City. First phase is already being implemented with a 18 hole signature golf course and golf property (apartments and villas), adjacent to first phase , second phase(on the north of first phase) and third phase (on the south) are aimed to complement first phase by introducing more urban living in the second phase and mountain retreat in the third phase.

Beijing Mentougou Tanzhesi Project Conceptual Planning & Design
Location : Tanzhe Town - Beijing Site Area : 4.8 km2 Working Position : Team Coordinator - Senior Urban Planner / Designer
The Key Issues of the project was to introduce Land Development Strategies for Tanzhesi Town and to maximize the land value by utilizing existing cultural and heritage values of the town which would promote the tourism. Besides, the project aimed to provide ecological protection strategies and environmental assessment, including strategies about promoting the ability of river water maintenance and water saving resource, rain water and grey water utilization and carbon neutral assessment to assess the ecological impact of the conceptual plan
Tanzhesi Temple is one of the important heritage asset of the town which gives its name to the town. It is 1800 years old even older than the Forbidden City in Beijing. In this respect project concept consisted of three main aspects which are, - to create Zen Life / Living (based on the Tanzhesi Temple),and Zen Tourism Development - to regenerate the old villages to be a living museum which will promote the Cultural and Heritage Tourism, and
Three elements are to be complemented by mountain area which will accommodate Eco-Tourism Development Belt. In respect to the existing traditional pattern of the town, the concept integrates Chinese Traditional Urban Space Style in Nolli plan in order to generate a distinctive urban space and a unique town. It also strengthens the unique urban style by grouping the urban space within coherent functions. Empire`s Road and Mountain area Eco-Tourism would form the Tanzhesi Overall Tourism System.

Location : Huludao City Site Area : 3.36 km2 Working Position : Team Coordinator - Senior Urban Planner / Designer The project aims to provide a tourism driven new town adjacent to the government centre and CBD of HuluDao City which is located between Hebai and LiaoNing provinces. Having rich historical relics and culture, attractive, lush landscape with many rivers and untouched golden beach, the site has the high potential of developing high quality tourism attraction centre both as historical tourism centre and a four season beach front tourism town.

The project is mainly about obtaining the policy support from government in order to acquire the land and develop a high end hot spring – SPA tourism and property development . The vision of the project is to create an International Ocean SPA Resort Destination in the West PRD (Pearl River Delta) of Zhuhai City. The main drivers of the projects are the ocean and the natural resource of hot spring. Project developer is CTS which is China`s one of the biggest developers.
Project has three phases and the first phase has already been constructed. First phase also accommodates two five star SPA-Hot spring hotels and one hot spring theme park. Second and third stages purpose to provide an extension of the SPA oriented development including very exclusive island SPA-Hot spring resort, 18 hole golf course and an executive business hotel and conference, luxury golf villas and apartments with private hot spring-SPA facilities.

Projects aims to provide a signature urban retreat resort tied with hot spring and high quality SPA facilities together with water related tourism attractions such as water sports (white water rafting, jet skiing, kayaking , etc..) around bay area and luxurious housing with exclusive SPA lifestyle. The projects creates a new sustainable Central Service District (CSD) for Yantai new CBD which facilitates and encourages hi-tech and information based developments by integrating creative business offices, SoHo, 5 star hotel, a boutique hotel, culture and low carbon - international living . Site has the privilege of being adjacent to new and thriving CBD and the project provides a gateway and service disposition to it. Info-tech corridor will provide iconic entrance with landmark hotels, commercial and entertainment and business centres.
Since the surrounding area of the site is already accommodated by Hi-Tech R&D facilities, 2 universities, Biological Research institute , the project site is planned and designed to rich the goal of creating a centre for local and international enterprises and headquarters, investors and also a show case space for low carbon living for their families.
Conceptual Planning for Scenic Area of Danzhou-Hainan (Competition Project)

The project is composed of 6 separated clusters (over 200 Ha in total) each has individual urban characteristics. The aim of the project is provision of sustainable conceptual development plans and innovative planning principles that would enhance Danzhou city’s strategic importance in Hainan island and China by introducing strong and attractive economic drivers to the site that would draw investors both from China and the world.
Hainan is one of the most important tourism resort attraction spot since it is within the world’s tropical belt. At the east side, Danzhou city has great potentials both nature wise and industry wise as it has Yangpu economic development zone which comprises a large amount of China’s Petrol Refinery Industries, Petrol Chemical Industry, Paper Pulp Industry, Logistics and an importexport port that would be expected to cover 50% of Hainan’s GDP’s source in ten years.
Shaohai Lake Conceptual Master Plan and Urban Design Project
Location : Qingdao-China Site Area : 16 km2 Working Position : Project Urban Planner / Designer
16 km2 area conceptual plan (6km2 lake) , revision of control plans and first phase area (~ 35 ha) detail design. Functions included residential, recreation and tourism . Project overall concept emphasises connectivity of the tourism attractions along the lake and gives identity by introducing European style architecture flavoured places. Site is envisioned one of the most exclusive living and business enterprise developments area.
Therefore it also accommodates 18 hole golf course, business enterprise park, R&D park and educational facilities. Core area tourism and retail centre is designed to be a main activity hub to whole lakeside development which would hold two hotels, Jiazhou`s first Imax entertainment centre and an outlet shopping centre.

It is basically a real estate project which would benefit the developer who firstly would get the approval for comic industry development which is in the same area. The project was mainly an architecture driven project as all the architectural details of the building types were described in the design brief primarily .After Architecture team has designed the buildings, urban design has applied given building types onto the site by introducing an overall story that would tie architectural elements with design principles. Ocenia Point Tourism & Lifestyle Destination Tourism Master Plan–Xunliao(UNDER CONSTRUCTION)
Location : Huizhou-Xunliao Site Area : 20 km2 Working Position : Urban Planner / Designer Xunliao Ocenia Point is becoming one of the most important tourism and lifestyle destination for its region in Guangdong province of China. Project is visioned to be a tourism and living area which accommodates signature hotels , exclusive waterfront tourism destinations including Sheraton hotel. One of the most important design driver of Ocenia Point was its natural beauties which are long seafront, golden beaches and green forest mountains. The design challenged to utilize all these values into the project and provide attractive and relaxing spaces for both its residents and visitors. Total GFA is about 4.5 million m2.
It will provide a vibrant tourism centre to young and busy people who wishes to escape the city for short vacation. Middle Zone also has the longest golden beach amongst three zones , which will serve as an excellent public beach both for residents and for tourists. South Zone - Lifestyle Resort - It is international exclusive resort destination of the whole site that will take Ocenia Point amongst the most important International Tourism Destinations in China. Zone includes five, five star hotels including Sheraton hotel which its construction already completed. It also accommodates 18 hole golf course with golf property and exclusive, very low density, luxurious resort style villas. Zone will provide its visitors a high-end community core with signature brands shopping centre and entertainment facilities and a yacht marina. Xunliao Core Area Property Analysis Project
Site comprises mainly three zones ; North Zone - Nature Environment - It is the gateway zone of the whole site. Main characteristic of this zone is to provide very low density, hillside, sea view and valley view second homes and community centres. It has also an equestrian centre and mountain sports centre.
It is the downstream work of Xunliao project . The objective of the project is to provide the implementation principles and strategies, property analysis and phasing strategies of Core Area-Middle Zone of Xunliao Tourism Master Plan.
Middle Zone - Destination Core - Middle Zone is the town centre which will consist of comprehensive mixed use developments including waterfront tourism activities, more affordable sea view apartments, commercial, entertainment and leisure facilities.
Project provided more profound research on how the proposed functions will work and also provided specific retail and tourism research and detailed facility functions that would be satisfactory for the proposed tourist numbers.

The project explored the lessons learnt from an analysis of public spaces in traditional settlement of Magang, Shunde District, Guangdong Province aiming at how to transform the vernacular human scale public spaces onto new area via integrating with the contemporary design solutions. Accordingly, the whole project was divided into two independent but logical parts.
Part 1 mainly focused on research of public spaces of MaGang. Qualitative and Quantitative analysis justified the research outcomes and consolidated the public space evaluation framework methodologically. By applying the findings of the vernacular public space design in MaGang second part aimed at providing pragmatic and Shunde featured design solution including such as public space retrofitting design in informal settlement and waterfront development integrated with retail and public activity space at guidelines level and development phasing and planning mechanism at implementation level.
Conceptual Planning for ShiZhiKou Lake Recreational Tourism Development District

The project consists of two stages including tourism consultancy marketing analysis and conceptual urban planning and design in 7km2 ShiZiKou lakeside development area on the outskirts of Guilin City. First stage mainly aims to provide positioning and visioning of the site by supporting it with deeply studied marketing research and analysis and generating the economic figures for ShiZiKou area for the future. As a transition to second stage and also to ease the spatial decisions and allocations a preliminary conceptual plan has also been introduced.
