A sweet new style for SS12 by Ayten Gasson The everevolving designer lingerie label, Ayten Gasson introduces sugar & spice and all things nice for SS12 with her new collection of pretty pastel lingerie and nightwear pieces inspired by vintage penny sweets. Sherbet lemons and limes are mixed with vintage English lace to create playful silk sets, while silk georgette is used to create stunning liquoriceinspired bodysuits with a contemporary feel. The new stretch bodysuits will appeal to a younger audience who embrace the ‘lingerie as outerwear’ look that never seems to be offtrend. Introducing not only new shapes to the latest collection, but new fabrics from UK suppliers, the brand continues its commitment to produce a quintessentially British product. All the ranges within the collection have been influenced by the favourite childhood sweets of her north London studio collective, including Ayten’s assistant Sarah Graham. The innovative collection includes: Rebecca, Lara, Natalie, Lucky and, of course, Sarah. The full range of pulsequickening pieces for SS12 features bodysuits, highwaisted knickers, teddies, nightdresses, soft bras and knicker sets – all produced with beautiful English lace, often handcrafted vintage trims which are used to embellish the stunning silk silhouettes. The designer has also expanded her limited edition range of organic silk pieces this season. A stunning bridal collection of soft bras, highwaisted knickers and strapless bodysuits has an additional twist of combining vintage lace with organic silk satin. Traditionalists will savour the best vintage lace trims which have been sourced from the old lace mills in Nottingham to highlight the incredible skills which the area was once famous for. Playful types will love the peekaboo cutouts and lace backed knicker. The romantics will enjoy the feel of the finest luxury silks, and the ecoconscious will welcome the organic silk bridal range. Central St Martin’s graduate, Ayten Mustafa who founded the Ayten Gasson label in 2005 once again captures the portrait of a lady with a superfeminine collection with vintage appeal for SS12. Arriving in stores in mid January, the SS12 collection heralds a fresh look for the brand, featuring familiar key pieces which have been upgraded with a twist. Ends

Notes to Editors: SS12 Collection About the Label Launched in the summer of 2005, Ayten Gasson Lingerie has become recognised in the UK not only as a luxury lingerie label but for its firm commitment to supporting the UK fashion industry. The globallyrecognised, quintessentially British label supports the few remaining underwear factories in the UK. In addition to the Nottingham lace, new English lace is sourced from companies based in the UK to support the few people still manufacturing. Pieces from her SS11 collection even used the lace of Roger Watson, who famously created the lace for Princess Diana’s wedding dress in 1981. Growing up with a family full of designers and makers, creative director Ayten Mustafa knew the importance of well made pieces, which should not be comprised by using inferior fabrics. Upon graduating from Central Saint Martin’s in 2004, Ayten was disheartened to find the closure of many of the UK based manufactures and design houses. All design jobs had moved to Europe while the London factories she knew as a child had all closed as designers now searched for a cheaper alternative overseas. With the help of the Prince’s Trust, Ayten launched the lingerie label with a firm commitment to supporting other UK businesses and highlighting the traditional skills which the UK was once celebrated for. To this day Ayten Gasson continues to utilise and support the UK fashion industry by producing every item, from garters to teddies, in small production units in London, Nottingham and Wales. The label, which featured in the film 'Underworld' (shown at London Fashion Week), has been previewed in international publications including Elle, Vogue, Marie Claire and Cosmopolitan. Ayten Gasson is currently available at some of the most exclusive boutiques in the world, and is stocked in the UK by Tallulah Lingerie, Lulu & Lush, Bordello, and Fenwick’s of Bond Street. The AW11 collection will also be available in luxury department store Le Bon Marche in Paris. The label is also available to buy online at www.aytengasson.com.
