Insulin is the hormone produced by the cells of the pancreas. The pancreas produces hormones in its endocrine cells. At some stage, the pancreas is unable to produce sufficient amount of insulin for the body and this leads to the rise in blood sugar level. Insulin resistance is the condition in which body cells become resistant to the effect of insulin. As a result, the body produces a larger amount of insulin to maintain a normal level of blood sugar.  Fruits: Fruits such as apples, berries, bananas, plums, guava, grapes contain all sorts of nutrients including vitamins, minerals etc. Every fruit has its own unique nutrient profile. Avoid fruits juices as they increase blood sugar level very rapidly. People who eat fruits as a part of healthy diet generally have a reduced risk of diseases.

 Whole Grains: Whole grain foods are good for the people with insulin resistance. It is important to choose healthy, unprocessed grains as much as possible. To get the good amount of nutrients, keep an eye on whole-grain ingredients first on the label of the product such as whole grain wheat, whole grain oats, whole grain barley etc.


 Fish: Fish is loaded with omega-3 fatty acids that can reduce the risks of insulin resistance in the body. Fish that is rich in omega-3 includes salmon, mackerel, herring, sardines etc. But avoid fried and breaded fish. Proper intake of insulin resistance diet takes at least 2 to 3 months to reestablish insulin sensitivity and if there is severe IR, it could take much longer time to recover.
