REPORT ON ARCHITECTURAL INTERNSHIP PROGRAM
Performed at
Innovative CREATEERS Pvt. Ltd. Thirbam Sadak,Maharajgunj, Kathmandu, Nepal
Supervised by Ar. Sushma Bajracharya This report is submitted in partial fulfillment of the requirements of the Bachelor of Architecture Program Submitted to: Department of Architecture KHWOPA ENGINEERING COLLEGE
ABSTRACT This report is curated as the mid term assignment of the practicum that i practiced as a course for the 5th year 1st part, in context of my Bachelor in Architecture. This report covers the insights on how architecture firms like ‘Innovative Createers’ function and about my journey and the experiences in the professional realm of an architect’s life. The aim and objective of the practicum is to introduce the architecture students like myself to the reality of architecture which can be contradicting to the student life as we know. Practicum provides us, the future architects, with that very opportunity and helps us experience it firsthand. The valuable experience we can get through practicum, the practical knowledge that we all lack, is fulfilled to a great extent. The constraints apply, making us fully aware of the reality of planning in the real world unlike our design studio projects. This report is intended to provide our supervisors with an idea of what I, an intern, have learnt in this semester through Practicum. This report includes 2d drawings, pictures of 3d models, photographs of sites and other miscellaneous items which I have had the opportunity to work on.
ACKNOWLEDGEMENT First of all, I would like to acknowledge the support of Department of Architecture, Khwopa Engineering College for providing us with a platform to work as a Trainee Architect as a part of V/I curriculum. This has helped me gain practical knowledge on this field and also has given me a chance to work in a professional manner. I would like to offer my gratitude to the firm Innovative CREATEERS Pvt. Ltd. for accepting me to guide through my practical knowledge intake and making my internship tenure a fulfilled one. And not forgetting about the working environment they provided. This few months of internships period has been my most prolific periods of the architectural course during which I experience the practical know- how of architecture. The practicum period helped me realize the similarities and differences between the student and the professional life. And how the group coordination between client, architects, engineers, contractors and suppliers is required to complete any project. I would like to show my sincere gratitude to Ar. Ujjwal Man Shakya, the chief architect for granting me an opportunity to enhance and expand my knowledge in architecture. I would extend my gratitude to Ar. Annie Shrestha, Ar. Shailesh Ratna Sthapit, Ar .Anika Dhaubadel for their continuous guidance and support. I would also like to express my gratitude to my practicum supervisor, Ar. Mimang Hang Kirat for his frequent feedbacks and comments in making this practicum period an education experience. My special thanks goes to Ar. Subecha Pradhananga and Ar. Bipasana Tuladhar for their continuous help, support and guidance throughout my internship period. I can never forget their inspiring and friendly behavior which always boosted my energy during the rush hours. And finally, I would like to thank my fellow interns, batch mates, respected teachers and everyone who directly or indirectly prepared me for this feat. Thank You Ayushma Baidawar 740108

PRACTICUM REPORT 2022
MY INVOLVEMENT I was tasked to rearrange the rooms and furniture layout of the third floor and render 3D images for visualization on Vray. The 3D renders alongside every page are space viasualizations of the various units present in the third floor of the building. This is the Executive Floor and has units like; the reception and waiting area, meeting room, CEO’s office and the Chairman’s office. As this was a turn-key project the company was required to design the furnitures as well. I was tasked to draft and explore materials for the furnitures. Each of the floor has a specific color scheme concept throughout the building likewise the Executive floor. I also learnt exterior 3D rendering and worked to curate the night view of the building.

MY INVOLVEMENT I was tasked to design the main gate for the Umesh Thapa Residence. This was my first designing experience in the firm. According to the brief provided by the client, the brainstorming for designs resulted in a minimalistic and chic design that followed the theme of the other design elements like the feature facade wall of mountains and hills. The client requirement prioritized privacy and security so privacy is maintained by the design as visual accessibility is blocked by the design elements of layered mountain silhouette. Copper sprayed grills are used as other elements of the gate as shown in the render visualization below. The posts and lintel are kept minimalistic and are just reinforced elements that contrast with the wooden batten and copper sprayed gate panels.

PROLBLEM Birds would find the window sill the best area to rest and dirty them really fast affecting the aesthetic view of the whole facade. DESIGN SOLUTION Slope of 45degrees in the window sill provided with marble finishing to create further less friction and reduce the birds grip on the surface. As shown in the window section above and the Section is a very important tool to visualize and cross check its structural positioning and test thefeasibility of the designed element.Section helped me to undersand the design mero and interpretation that are made through sections are more understandable and precise Here,we underwent through detail section at different areas which needed to be understood and desiged more precisely before the reference is provided for the structural engineer .
I studied the past project where this type of column was used and gained some ideas. The main advantage of the columnare: It prevents the column protrusion from the 1 walls and they can save the space. Aesthetically also they look more better than the rectangular or square as they get merge with the wall prevents nooks and corner formation.

This master bedroom is spacious with a dresser unit and large mirror and false ceiling. The door leads to an attached bathroom. The ceiling chandelier fans also known as fandeliers generally don’t move air as well as traditional fans, because they tend to have shorter blades and smaller motors. Haire says they make the most sense in bedrooms, playrooms, home gyms and offices. They go well with industrial or farmhouse looks. FALSE CEILING DESIGN False ceilings are used for, a. Concealing beams b. Concealing wires c. Soundproofing d. Fire safety, energy efficiency e. To help in moisture and sag resistance.
WHY FALSE CEILING? The prime necessity of the false ceiling arose with the beam crossing over the living room ceiling. To accompany in the HVAC system for connection inlays to the ceiling cassette. Third, was due to the drop slab. The major aim was to make seamless ceiling proving a false ceiling.
Client requirement- to give as much height to the rooms providing false ceiling only in the required parts.Elegant and sophisticated design. AYUSHMA BAIDAWAR

The spacious room is with a monochromatic combination of shades. A large wardrobe with sliding shutters brings about ease of use, smart space utilisation and a good amount of storage space. WHY IS SECTIONAL ELEVATION NECESSARY? A sectional elevation of a room is necessary for follow reasons:• Mostly for the interior work. • To determine the positioning of switches and power points. •To design a false ceiling. •To position various fixtures incase of bathrooms and WCs. CONSIDERATIONS The section line should pass throughopenings if present. This provides ease in designing a false ceiling .Should show all the details from plaster line to floor finish and skirting.

CONCEPT
picture of Tayo
Tayo is the one of the largest Newar ethnic Jewelry piece of Nepal. It is a necklace worn by Newar girls, brides, and women as well as deities like Lokeswors, Yognis, Dipankers and Kumaris on the special ceremony. Tayo has high symbolic meanings and religious values. It is worn as it is believed that the pointed pendent part of the necklace symbolizes the Kathmandu Valley, while the facets of the pendent for the directions of the Valley, and a center jewel under the hood of the snake-heads is for the Swayambhu Stupa of the Kathmandu valley. The resort has various architecture elements that have taken inspiration from the newari architecture and it’s essence can be seen in the design and space allocation. The swimming pool is in the shape of a Tayo and it is also from where the name of the resort comes from.

EPILOGUE Intering at ‘Innovative Createers’ has been one of the best decisions of my life till date. I was completely mesmerized the first time I had entered the office during a case study for Architect’s Office Design for our Interior Studio. In this firm I have made friends for life and have gotten the opportunity to work under some amazing architects and mentors. There is always room for improvement and improvement only comes thorough research and understanding, this motto has been pushing me to do better and learn more things. The amazing team at Innovative Createers have taught me to embrace my flaws and incompetence and have been encouraging me to overcome my fears of the professional life. I have been learning many things, detailed drawings, 3D rendering, design process, visualization and most importantly how life is all about balancing between professional life and personal life. The team has taught me determination and hardwork and I will forever cherish my time spent at the firm and the friends and mentors I have had the opportunity of getting to know and learn from. THANK YOU
