WHAT IS SUMMER READING?

HERE'S THE SCOOP:

The Azle Library knows life is busy, but it's important to Paws to Read in order to keep brains active. Summer Reading is our way of incentivizing reading by combining it with prizes and fun programs! Our goal is to encourage everyone in our community to read over the summer, and particularly children and teens so they are ready for school in the fall.

Parents and siblings can read to younger children who are still learning to read and it counts for both the reader and listener! All reading counts: picture books, chapter books, graphic novels, etc

All ages can register for FREE beginning

June 2nd at our Kick Off Event or anytime through July 24th when the library is open.

Once registered, you will be provided with a reading log to track the hours you read from June 2-July 24. When you reach your reading milestones, bring your log to the library to earn FREE prizes and raffle tickets!

Celebrate Summer Reading success with a party in the park! Popsicles, a petting zoo, face painting, and MORE will be a perfect way to wrap up a summer of fun for CHILDREN and TEENS who read 5 hours!

Participants of the Adult Summer Reading Club who read at least 5 hours

are invited to attend the finale party - no ticket required! Enjoy a fun, library-themed trivia game with LIVE raffle prize drawing door prizes just for attendees, and tons of yummy food

This event is for adult participants and we ask that children and teens remain at home due to space limitations.

Any CHILD or TEEN who registers for Summer Reading and reads 5 hours by July 24 will earn a ticket for a free popsicle and face painting at this event. Parents and family members are welcome to accompany ticket holders and enjoy the petting zoo and music. Raffle prizes will NOT be drawn at this event. Prize winners will be notified no later than Monday August 31. The library building will be CLOSED all day on July 28 so staff can prepare for and clean up the finale event.
