-SUMMER READING PHOTOS -FALL STORYTIME ANNOUNCEMENT -I SPY SUMMERTIME -AND MORE!

From the Library Director Who turned up the heat? Recently a patron was checking out books with her grandchildren. As she was getting ready to leave and told them, "Let's go out into the misery." It's the truth - all summer we have darted from one air conditioned place to the next, with hardly enough time to cool our cars off in between locations. I have been especially grateful for books and audiobooks this summer since I am spending most of my time indoors due to the heat. I know many of you have been doing the same since we have had over 1,075 kids, teens and adults participate in Summer Reading! Thousands of hours have been read by participants this summer and they have earned prizes galore in return. If you were one of our Summer Reading participants, thank you for joining in the fun! If you have feedback about your Summer Reading experience I would love to hear it! You can email us at library@cityofazle.org or you can drop a note in our comment box, located near the front of the library. We will use your feedback to help shape our plans for Summer 2023 so that we can offer an even bigger and better program! I would also like to give a huge thank you to the sponsors who donated prizes this summer. You can see a list of sponsors later in this newsletter. Please help us thank them when you visit their businesses. Now that August is here, I need to announce that the Library will be closed on Mondays for the entire month due to a staffing shortage. This summer we said goodbye to Library Assistant Marian, who retired, as well as part-timer Averie and Librarian Liz who have moved on to the next stages of their careers. In order to continue library services to the best of our ability as we hire and train new staff, we realized it would be necessary to close one day a week. Once August ends we will be closed on one additional Monday on September 5th for Labor Day, but we will be open 10am-6pm on Mondays again beginning September 12th. As a reminder, the outside return drops and access to your online account remain accessible 24/7. Thank you for your patience and understanding during this time.

Who's Who on Staff? Meet Nora! Nora joined the library as a part-timer in 2020 and in June 2022 was moved to full-time when a vacancy opened up. Nora's duties include processing new books (meaning she makes sure the computer record is filled out, the labels are correct and they are ready for check-out), repairing books, and keeping up with a myriad of paperwork and filing. You will also frequently see her working at the Information Desk and shelving. Nora graduated from the University of Texas at Arlington with a bachelors in Business Administration & Management. She has an adorable 1 year old daughter and loves spending time at the lake with her family and taking her dogs on walks. The Library service that Nora wishes more people knew about is Scholastic Teachables, which offers FREE learning resources for K-6 students.

Nora loves romantic comedies and is currently reading:

Nora

The Unhoneymooners by Christina Lauren & Beach Read by Emily Henry (She really likes ebooks, but will also listen to audiobooks when she is cleaning her house.)
