READING IS ESSENTIAL! The Library knows reading is a great way to keep brains active. That's why we offer the Summer Reading Club for children, teens and adults. It's our way of encouraging reading so that children and teens are ready for school in the fall and adults continue to learn and set a good example for their families. It's completely FREE TO PARTICIPATE and there are no strings attached! Anyone who participates will have opportunities to win prizes--just for reading!
WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?
CHILDREN The Children Summer Reading Club is for children ages 0 to 12.
TEENS
HOW TO GET A READING LOG:
Teens who are 18 can choose to participate in either the Teen OR Adult Summer Reading Club.
Pick up a free Summer Reading Log during the library's open hours beginning June 1st--but don't count your reading until June 7th!
The Teen Summer Reading Club is open to teens ages 13 to 18.
ADULTS The Adult Summer Reading Club is open to adults ages 18 and older.

Read to yourself or listen to someone else read. Parents & siblings, read to infants and toddlers so they can also participate!
The more days you read, the more prizes you will be eligible for!
JULY 23 - AUGUST 6 RETURN LOGS TO LIBRARY & PICK UP PRIZES! Everyone who reads at least 5 days total in June & July will get a goody bag with candy! Read 10 days and win a goody bag with age appropriate prizes! Those who read EVERY DAY in June & July will be entered into one of 50+ Grand Prize drawings. READING LOGS WILL BE ACCEPTED JULY 23 - AUGUST 6 ONLY. NO LATE ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED.
Age appropriate snack offered for ages 0-2. A limited number of sugar-free and allergy sensitive candy bags will be available, upon request.

A goody bag with age appropriate prizes including library swag, bookmarks and more! Children will also receive a Summer Reading necklace!
GRAND PRIZE DRAWINGS
Museum Passes & Gift Cards ranging from $5-$25 to stores such as: Wal-Mart, Amazon, Target, area restaurants & more! (50+ available) Winners will be notified August 9th and will have until August 20th to pick up their prize. (Prize winners will be drawn at random, but will be awarded based on age appropriateness.)

TAKE-AWAY & FUN ACTIVITIES
STORYBOOK PEN PALS! (FOR AGES 5-10)
MINUTE-TO-WIN-IT! Pick up June 7 - July 23
Perfect for families & groups of all ages. All you need are 2 or more people! Pick up a packet containing instructions for several group games you can play at home using basic supplies. These activities are a great way to bond with family or friends, as well as a perfect way for younger kids to learn new skills. Let us know how much you enjoyed this takehome activity by sharing with the Library on Facebook or Instagram!
June 7 - June 30 From June 7 to June 30, children ages 5-10 can practice their writing skills by sending a letter to a favorite character. 1. Stop by the Children's Area in the Library to write your letter. (All supplies will be provided.) 2. Choose from ONE of the following characters to write to: Peppa Pig, Pete the Cat, The Berenstain Bears, or Curious George. 3. Drop your letter in the mailbox located in the Children's Area. 4. In July, look for a letter from your Storybook Pen Pal in the mail! Parents, don’t forget to include your mailing address if your child wants to receive a letter from their Storybook Pen Pal.

AZLE COMMUNITY COLOR COLLAGE June 7 - July 23 All ages can participate! Help us create a one-of-a-kind art collage! Pick up a blank paper square in the library and take it home to decorate using any art materials you have on hand. Return it to the library and we will add it to our display! The display will be up all summer long!
