Raven

Part-Time Library Assistant

Lisa B.

Children's Services Librarian

Meet Some of Our Staff!

Raven joined our crew in November of 2019. You will often see her working our front Information Desk, shelving books, or doing many other tasks. Raven aspires to make librarianship her career and is currently pursuing a Master's of Library Science degree. She decided to go into library work because she wholeheartedly believes that libraries are more than passive repositories, but rather spaces in which active learning and community building take place. Raven enjoys writing, yoga and improv comedy. Her favorite food is popcorn and her favorite genres to read are literary fiction and poetry.

Lisa B. was added to our team in March 2019, right after we celebrated 10 years in our current building! She holds a masters degree in Library Science and can often be found working at the Children's Services Desk. Lisa helps select the Juvenile and YA books, plans children's programming, and shares a positive attitude everywhere she goes. Lisa says she became a librarian because she enjoys helping people and loves working with children. If you ever need help finding a book for your child, Lisa is a great person to ask! Her favorite book growing up was Anne of Green Gables and her current favorite author is Neil Gaiman. She adores the color blue and she loves tacos more than any other food.

DEWEY DECIMAL NUMBER OF THE MONTH

796

(SPORTS & GAMES)

ANCIENT OLYMPICS FUN FACTS The games first started in Olympia, Greece in 796 BC and took place every 4 years. Prior to the games, the Greek City-States would call for a truce that banned wars for one month and forbade arms from being carried into Olympia. Winners of the ancient Olympic games did not receive medals but rather wreaths made from the leaves of sacred olive trees of Olympia. The ancient games took place in the heat of summer because this was the quietest time of year for agricultural work. The last ancient Olympic game took place in 394 AD, and the first of the modern games took place 1,503 years later in 1896 in Athens. (SOURCE: OLYMPICS.COM)
