ast year’s Industry Partner of the Year, Rug Worx, is owned and operated by the dynamic duo of Scott and Miranda Gwilliam. Scott’s passion for area rugs, fine fibers and cleaning has made their rug cleaning business a unique partner for our local design community. He prides himself on being the last line of defense and says “I’m often the one they call when no one else can solve the issue. I’m usually referred by their flooring sales rep, designer or even another carpet/rug cleaner. I work on rugs regularly that have already been professionally cleaned and perhaps something went wrong. I set realistic expectations and educate them on their rug throughout the process.” Scott prides himself on rug and fiber education for himself, his staff, designers, customers, and even other cleaners in his Textile Pro or Master Rug Cleaner networks. Rug Worx now carries a full line of Fiber Protector products which they recommend having applied on most rugs, furniture, and fabrics prior to use so they can prevent potential damage and gain the best cleaning results in the future. They have four products which include a Green Seal approved protector and a brand-new product specifically designed for use on rayon/viscose or plant fibers. Miranda says “we’ve seen the trends with furniture specifically move to lighter colors and more delicate fibers such as linen and chenille. We’ve also seen a lot of sofas made of poly blended with rayon which can be tricky to clean. Scott and I feel a strong pull to try to get to these pieces to apply protector before they are installed or right after.
