Dear Members, It’s Easter time! We have had some great Winter weather, lots of sun and mostly clear blue skies with the sea as calm as a lake down in the bay. I haven’t seen so many people on the beach between January and March in a long time. I do not think many people realise how stunning it really is at this time of year. On another note there have been days where the scene was starkly different. Gales, huge hailstones battering the area even piercing cars soft tops and denting car bonnets! The sea in the bay was immensely powerful and rough but you know, in a weird kind of way it was equally as dramatic and beautiful to watch for the short time it lasted until the sun came out again, I suppose its all natures way of cleansing and renewing. We are now approaching Easter time and Spring, a time that I believe to be one of the best times to visit Malta. Strong sun, clear skies, warmer weather in general and no big crowds to hamper the cultural tours or pretty seaside bars which are so great around the island for people watching and just generally taking life at a slower pace enjoying the view and letting the world go by. We do have a passionate and dedicated team here at Golden Sands and I know some of you have your favourites… so we once again look forward to welcoming you home to Malta!

Team Azure visit Real Estate Summit in London GRAZIELLE CAMILLERI

AZURE IN LONDON Team Azure has just returned to Malta from an interesting trip to London where we attended the Leisure Real Estate Summit 2013 incorporating a Fractional Summit conference. Sarah Mazzone (Azure E-Commerce Specialist) and Gavin Dickinson (Azure Memberships Director) joined me at this Summit where professionals gather each year to exchange information and to get abreast of the most recent developments in the Real Estate industry. At this Summit we had the opportunity to network with fractional ownership developers and operators, buyers and sellers in the market, owners and investors. We were introduced to new exchange programmes and vacation rentals on the market and we also looked at a few potential strategic brand alliances for Azure. Despite the continued difficult economic situation that companies in Europe face year after year, it is exciting to witness the increase in the synergies and changes between various elements of the international mixed-use leisure real estate sector which includes that of hotels, home ownership, fractional ownership, private

residence clubs, and vacation rental. We made some new contacts with professionals in the industry who were as excited about the future of leisure real estate as we are. These included Ben Wosskow from Love Home Swap; Matt Holmes Business Development Manager at Wyndham Exchange and Rentals; Dimitris Manikis VP Business Development, Group RCI; Piers Brown Founder at Serviced Apartment Summit; Carl Berry CEO at Star Resort Group; Julian Houchin Commercial Director at iO Adria London Limited; Russell Bragg Launching lifestyle ventures and building luxury brands; Alex Blackwood, Senior executive in Real Estate Investments and so many more! On my part it was great to meet friends from around the business, we are also up for a few awards this year which will be great for the resort and the Azure team, it is interesting to see there’s a lot of interest in the future development of hotels holidays lifestyle products which include timeshare or fractional products.

see that a great deal of investment is going into these sectors, the business is evolving and with it come an increasing amount of future possibilities to enhance the products features and benefits. We will be looking at every thing and anything that may be beneficial to our member base in the coming year in order to keep our product

offering at the highest level possible for the coming years and as always any feedback is greatly appreciated on any and all fronts. We look forward to welcoming you home to Malta 00356 2356 1875 so call reservations and start booking!

The potential is clearly apparent from all angles and its good to

Azure Malta supports Integra Foundation and Migrants Solidarity Movement GRAZIELLE CAMILLERI For the past couple of years Integra Foundation and Migrants’ Solidarity Movement in Malta have joined forces to create a new department called “Konnect Kulturi” which was formed to promote education and integration through projects. The project is about opening a drop-in centre in the library in Ursula Street, Valletta. Currently it is open to the general public by appointment especially asylum seekers who would like to further their education. The scope is to create a recreation area where one can read books and use a computer and Internet at no charge. In the near future they are planning to expand their educational projects where computers would be essential in the teaching process. For about 4 years, the project has been organising English language lessons in this education

centre for asylum seekers and for about two years they have been offering Maltese language lessons as well. There are plans to introduce basic lessons on how to use computers and the Internet.

If you are interested to learn more about this nonprofit organisation or to contact the organisers to donate books or computers, you may visit the website integrafoundation.org

If we all start by giving a little, the world will really become a better place each day. Everyone has things to give; to someone just to carry on, a little help makes wonders.

Azure has decided recently to support Integra Foundation’s charity project by donating three computers to the Valletta centre. Perry Newton, Azure Malta’s Project Director believes that access to educational tools is the key to better living, better performance and better communication in today’s world. “If Azure Malta can assist to improve the long term growth and development of education in small ways such as these, we will be glad to support this worthy project.”

Kevin & Perry have successfully completed the 2012 Heroes Legend Rally GRAZIELLE CAMILLERI What’s next for 2013? Kevin and Perry, now known in Malta as the two “crazy” guys from Azure have successfully completed the extremely challenging Paris to Dakar Rally known Heroes Legend last year on their specially prepared KTM rally bikes built by John Mitchinson’s Rally Raid (UK). They raised funds for charities including UNICEF UK, Cancer Research UK and the Malta Community Chest Fund. Malta President Hon George Abela and the Prime Minister of Malta Dr Gonzi have both publicly acknowledged their great feat in the media and have wished them the best of luck in the future… So what will their next challenge be? What would you like them to do this year? “You” can decide their fate with your vote. With the aim of raising funds for the Malta Community Chest Fund, Cancer Research (UK) and UNICEF, if you had the option of making a choice FOR them which of the following three challenges would you pick?

1) Transanatolia rally raid 2013 in turkey Transanatolia 2013, Turkey’s first, 7 full days long rally raid will see the boys in numerous challenging stages of earth, mud and water on rally bikes, off road vehicles, quads and buggies starts in Antalya, goes over the Taurus Mountains into Cappadocia and finishes in Alanya. Just like the previous years, Transanatolia will be hosting motor sport connoisseurs all over the world as well as Turkish participants. Will our Maltese modern day crusaders apply for this challenge? 2) The enduro challenge 2013 in australia The ‘Enduro Adventure’ is through the heart of the hostile Australian outback passing through Uluru [Ayers Rock], the Olgas and all the rest, but the roads to get there are so much more challenging! Kevin & Perry would have to try riding via the waterfalls and swimming holes of the lovely Edith Falls to the spectacular Katherine Gorge and then on to Kununurra. Here they will visit Lake Argyle and perhaps take a flight over the Bungle

Bungle Range. The Wolfe Creek meteorite crater is next up, before a ride down the 1,000km of remote Tanami Track to Alice Springs… its all so exciting. Will Kevin & Perry go Down Under? 3) Expedition Patagonia in Argentina This remote, but incredibly beautiful part of the world, at the most southern tip of South America will steal your heart. Indian Cuisine Expert Chef Ms. Sheila Somers invited to Azure Malta resort GRAZIELLE CAMILLERI Ms. Sheila Somers is an expert chef and author of a number of books on Indian Cuisine. This weekend she was invited by the Radisson Blu Resort & Spa Golden Sands Malta where she has teamed up with the hotel chefs to present a mouthwatering Indian table for our guests as part of the Sunday Buffet Lunch.

A few words from the Chief Operating Officer Dear Members, We send you warm greetings from Malta! As you are all aware our commitment towards our members is of great importance to our team. In 2012 we upgraded various services and refurbished areas of the property in order to keep the resort looking fresh and well maintained. This year will be no different and we have invested heavily within various areas of the property. Our largest investment has gone towards the changing of our seven-year-old TV sets and their operating system. As you know TV systems today are part and parcel of our computer system and thus the new LCD TV’s not only have visual benefits but many other tools at our disposition. The Rezidor group was the first hotel chain in the world to offer free internet throughout the properties and even today this service is still free of charge in all guest rooms notwithstanding the fact that majority of hotels do charge for internet connectivity. We have now gone a step further and I am pleased to inform you that we are offering Wi-Fi in all our guest rooms thus replacing the cable system. The pay per view TV has now been upgraded and the new agreement ensures that the prices for all movies is regulated and thus movies are now charged at only €5.00 per film for 2013 instead of €16.00 per film thus making this service an excellent and very affordable luxury within your apartment. Now coming to the content, as you know the majority of hotels worldwide offer very limited TV content and this was also the case at The Golden Sands yet we have now packaged together a total of over 50 channels for your entertainment. All of the above has ensured that we can now move away from the old fashioned DVD players and the issues brought over by having such players in the rooms.

More good news is that our new agreement with our internet supplier means that the Members Lounge and Business centre computers are accessible at a very reasonable rate of €2.00 for 60 minutes and the internet card has a seven day time window to be used. I am sure that this comes as very welcome news for a good number of our members who have shared their concerns with me regarding all of the above over the past two years.

About Ms. Somers It was her mother and her grandmother who got her to appreciate Indian Cooking at the tender age of six in their own kitchen at home. Her first training was when she attended the Christine Martin French Cooking School in South Africa her birthplace. At the end of her studies in this school, she left for India to broaden her horizons in the exotic and traditional foods typical of her family’s country of origin. Working in a 5 star hotel in New Delhi she gained valuable experience in the rich culinary heritage of India. Her encounter with the various spices and herbs from the multitude of regions making up this sub-continent has enriched her knowledge in the art of cooking and presentation of her dishes. On returning to South Africa Ms. Somers lectured at the ML Sultan Institute and the Sastri Catering College. Apart from

giving demonstrations in Schools and on participating in Culinary TV Programmes, Sheila had her own column in a local newspaper regarding the gastronomic delights on Indian food. Her first publication in 1991 was entitled “Indian Entertainment Cookery” where she presented the typical festive food reflected in Indian traditions being of a religious nature, weddings or special occasions. Her book “Indian Cuisines the South African Way “ was published in 2008 and it incorporates the traditional Indian way of cooking with a South African approach, thus combining the two diverse cultures. Ms. Somers’ intention is to train chefs to become more and more acquainted with Indian Gastronomy. Ms. Somers was invited to the resort this month by the Radisson Blu Resort & Spa, Golden Sands Malta to share her culinary tips and to prepare together with the team of resort chefs a unique Indian food station for the Sunday Buffet Lunch which is becoming very popular with local and international hotel guests during Winter months. Our guests were treated to a taste of India!

On another note, in 2010 all carpets within Sunset tower apartments were replaced. We are at the moment in the process of replacing all carpets in all apartments within Twilight Tower and floors 3,4,5,6,7,10 have been completed whilst the 3rd, 8th and 9th floor apartments will be complete by the first week of March. Malta Carnival 2013 What a party! KIRSTI NEWTON

Held every year in the week running up to Ash Wednesday, Carnival fever grips Malta. This year Carnival was celebrated from 8th to 12th February 2013. It is a time when the island explodes in to song and dance against a backdrop of colourful floats and vibrant costumes. Culminating in an impressive display of fireworks. For many months, local dance troupes perfected their steps and their dedicated families wore put to work creating the eye-catching costumes. The work that goes on behind the scenes pre-carnival is quite astounding. Generations of families involved in designing and building the huge scenes atop the floats, put in an immense amount of time and effort in a bid to create the ultimate float and do so with a little friendly rivalry between them. Anyone visiting the island during Carnival time must include a visit to Valletta and Floriana during this five day event, where the Carnival parade weaves their way through the streets of Valletta, finishing in Floriana. Although not on the carnival scale of Brazil and with costumes a lot more reserved than their racy South American counterparts, the party mood creates an amazing atmosphere amongst a riot of colour. An orchestra of sound from singing; and whistle and horn blowing from the floats, fills the air. A rainbow of coloured confetti carpets the streets and mythical creatures tower above the floats, alongside cartoon character faces and grotesque masques. As with all events, the Maltese place a lot of emphasis on getting together with family and friends, alongside food and drink. I am finding out that there is always a sweet food specific to a particular tradition or festivity and Carnival is no exception. Prinjolata the Carnival Cake Prinjol meaning pine nuts in Maltese is one of the main ingredients alongside Madeira cake and citrus peel, in this snow-topped mountain shaped delight.

Called the Prinjalata the outside is covered with cream, and splattered messily with grated chocolate, pine nuts and candied cherries or sugared almonds. Incredibly sweet and definitely not for those counting the calories, this pre lent indulgence may have begun life as a final blow out for anyone thinking of giving up the sweet excess of sugar as their sacrifice for Lent! Carnival and the Knights Of Malta Dating back to the 16th Century Carnival has been an integral part of this Mediterranean island’s life, where a week long event leading up to Ash Wednesday would be enjoyed by the Maltese and the Knights Of St John. Jousting events were held and a game called The Kukkanja saw contestants racing up tall poles to reach the top, where the aim was to run off with the food items tied to the top.

Carnival floats in Valletta

The name Carnival comes from the Latin expression ‘Carne Vale’ which literally means ‘goodbye to meat’. Celebrations were held and people ate and drank, enjoying their last indulgences before the fasting began and meat forbidden for the forty days of Lent. There are many different sides to Carnival in Malta, with outside dance displays and competitions, processions of floats and food stalls lining the streets during the day, as well as evening refinement in the form of classic venetian masked balls and dinners. If you wish to take a walk on the dark side, the now becoming infamous Nadur carnival in Gozo, is quite a night to attend, by all accounts. It is said that anything goes and masses take to the streets, dressed in weird and wonderful costumes. The more shocking the better! Everyone participates in Carnival fever that envelops the island every year, children at school get a chance to ditch their school uniform and dress in their favourite costumes to celebrate and enjoy a few days off to join in the fun.

What’s on in Malta and Gozo during Easter 2013? GRAZIELLE CAMILLERI If you are in Malta for Easter you will notice that it is a very busy time in the religious calendar, more than Christmas believe it or not. A great deal of preparation and man power is needed to organise all the passion plays, band marches, carrying of statues, street processions, re-enactments and so much more! Several parishes with the help of volunteers stage pageants during Holy Week. Some have dedicated drama groups who are founded specifically for this purpose. Officially this year Easter week starts on Palm Sunday falling on March 24th and ends a week later, Easter Sunday. On Palm Sunday and Good Friday you can witness one of the most popular, yet somber, traditions through the streets of over a dozen villages in Malta – the re enactments and the processions. You will witness men dressed in hooded robes carrying statues or dragging chains at their feet, men dressed as Roman guards riding horses or leading their chariots and last but not least the procession of statues depicting the Stations of the Cross. Id–Duluri (The Friday before Good Friday) The Friday, a week before Good Friday is called id-Duluri, or the feast of our Lady of Sorrow where you will see an impressive traditional procession of people slowly following the statue of “Our Lady” in a mournful manner. Maundy Thursday (The day before Good Friday) This day commemorates the Last Supper and is the start of the mourning. You will find that a great deal of parishes create representations of the Last Supper or the entire Easter story in model form, like they do at Christmas with crib displays. It is a tradition on this important day for locals to tour around the islands in search of these ‘Altars of Repose’. The original and correct way is to visit seven different churches or chapels but it is still accepted to do the tour in one chapel. Altars are elaborately dressed up for the occasion with white flowers and candles. Recommended Procession for Maundy Thursday: Girgenti This special event – a torch lit procession starts off in Siggiewi

village square at about 8pm and leads on by torchlight out of the village up to Girgenti hill to the Laferla Cross. The last part of the route is a rough steep path along which there will be the Stations of the Cross depicted It certainly is an event to visit if you have the opportunity!

The most notable event on Easter Sunday is the celebration of the Risen Christ – (L-Irxoxt) and it is held in Birgu. This involves a group of fit and super healthy men making a fast dash uphill carrying a heavy statue of the Ascending Christ. It is a popular event in Malta and draws a lot of tourists too.

Good Friday Good Friday is the official mourning day so no masses are held all day. People are still allowed to visit churches to make their personal prayers or to pray in particular at 3pm (said to be the time when Christ died). The day is silent. No bells are peeling. However it is the big day for large processions. Malta has some spectacular processions set up, in some cases involving casts of hundreds of volunteers or actors. Some have become main tourist attractions in recent years, with TV stations broadcasting a live commentary in several languages. Zebbug in Malta is renowned for its extravagant, almost-passion play style procession. The one in Xaghra, Gozo is also very highly recommended.

Maltese Traditional Easter Sweets In Malta for Easter, the Maltese love to prepare “figolli” which they usually give to their loved ones, families and close friends. The figolla is a famous Maltese figurative shape of pastry, baked during the Holy Week for children to be eaten on Easter Sunday. It is made from flour pastry and is decorated with an egg as a symbol of life for the family and friends. The eggs are sometimes tinted with bright peacock colours - blue, green, yellow, white, brown or red. The earliest recalled Maltese ‘figolli’ were made of different shapes such as a horse, star, a grilled basket with an egg placed in the centre held by a pastry cross.

The main processions includes people dressed as Romans, Jewish priests, disciples, other biblical figures and country folk, like shepherds for example taken from the stories in the Bible. You will also see people dressed in white cloaks and pointed hoods, covered from head to toe. These represent the penitents and are often seen carrying crosses as a personal sacrifice. The procession usually files out in a specifically planned and rehearsed manner – out of the church and goes around the specific village. Easter Sunday This is the day for celebration! To celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus Christ, in total contrast to all that has gone before in Holy Week the church doors are open and special masses takes place. Bells chiming away again! It is a day for families and friends to flock home to their lavish lunches as big as Christmas lunches. It is also a time to visit relatives and friends, exchanging good wishes and small presents. It is an old tradition on Easter Sunday to give children chocolate-coated Easter Eggs and a ‘figolla’, an almondfilled pastry in the shape of a rabbit, lamb, fish or heart, covered in icing sugar.

The figolla became more popular with children and adults when the almond intrita filling was placed between two similar shapes of pastry and embellished with icing ġelu, or chocolate coating. A half chocolate egg wrapped in colourful foil paper is these days put on the figolla to make it more attractive for children. Many local housewives enjoy making figolli in the company of young children who draw their favourite shapes on cardboard – for example cars, d rabbits, mermaids, fish and butterflies. Usually figolli are served with a good hot cup of tea or coffee!

Natural dyed Easter eggs by local housewife Doris Fenech Ingredients 400g plain flour 170g sugar 170g margarine 2 eggs slightly beaten 2 teaspoons anisette 1 lemon juice 1 orange juice 1 orange zest figolla shapes

Method Rub the flour and margarine and sugar well. Make a hollow in the centre and put the orange zest, eggs. Add anisette and sufficient lemon and orange juice to make dough. Leave the dough to stay for 1 hr. On a well floured surface roll out the pastry 2cm tick and cut two different figolla shapes, decorate with the dye egg and place on a greased try. Bake for 30 minutes or until golden brown.

Experience Nenu the Artisan Baker

KIRSTI NEWTON

With an abundance of excellent restaurants offering mouth watering dishes, around the island, one will never be stuck for choice on where to eat when visiting Malta, but I recently visited a new concept that offers traditional Maltese food along with a chance to learn a little history and participate in the craft of Maltese bread baking. Located in the capital city of Valletta, in St Dominic Street (just off Merchant Street) is a welcoming red fronted establishment named Nenu The Artisan Baker. A glass floor greets you showcasing a typical scene below of traditional bakers at work. The restaurant is the idea of Carmelo Debono, the son of a baker, who followed in his father’s footsteps at the tender age of 14. What he doesn’t know about the traditional Maltese bread really isn’t worth knowing. Moving his business back to the town of Qormi in 1974 - known across the island as the capital of bread making, Carmelo is affectionately known as Nenu and along with his wife Angela they worked tirelessly day and night making bread, whilst simultaneously raising a family, some of whom have followed them into the business.

Aubergine pizza

Perfect experience for all the family It is often difficult when sightseeing to choose somewhere to visit that will please the whole family, especially if you have children of varying ages. This bakery offers: A chance to visit an old bakery that has been lovingly restored. The history of the site plays on TV screens within the restaurant area. A chance to see the original bakers oven, restored and still used today. A mouth-watering selection of Maltese dishes on the menu An ideal venue for families with small children. High chairs and baby changing facilities are available. A hands on experience for anyone wishing to participate in learning the art of bread making is available to pre-book, with a chance to taste your creation, after! What is Ftira? The traditional Maltese Ftira can be a confusing concept to visitors, with some restaurants serving more of a sandwich from the round bread with the hole in the middle and others presenting something more resembling a round pizza. This offers visitors to the island many ways to enjoy this versatile and filling, popular lunchtime treat and with every bar and restaurant

offering their own personal twist, who is to say which way is the right way? Nenu The Artisan offers Ftira that are rectangular in shape. The base is made from ingredients typically used in white bread. The Ftira is actually very low in fat and cholesterol and contributes towards the daily allowance of fibre, iron and Vitamin B. Obviously the toppings you choose will pave the way for the amount of calories you consume - but with the mouth-watering selection of fresh local ingredients to choose including the local fresh sheep cheeselets, aubergines, capers, mint, sliced beef and chicken, to name a few, I would suggest you arrive hungry! So if you are planning your visit and are looking at where to go in Malta, then be sure to sample the local cuisine, whilst learning a little about bread making at the same time. You can then take in the sights of beautiful Valletta and walk around the capital, whilst walking off your lunch! Nenu The Artisan Baker restaurant is open Tuesday - Saturday from 11am - 11pm and for lunch on Sunday. For reservations please speak to our concierge during your stay.

Latest News From Azure Members’ Club Lounge HENRI DIACONO February is Carnival time and one of the most attractive events in the Maltese cultural calendar, actually the name Carnival derives from the Italian words ‘carne vale’ meaning when meat and other similar pleasures could be indulged in, prior to the beginning of Lent. The Maltese word for lent is Randan – a period of sacrifice and repentance in preparation for Easter. Traditional carnival dances include the ‘Parata’ – a light hearted re-enactment of the Knights 1565 victory over the Turks and ‘Il Maltija’, an 18th century court dance. Although the weather could have been a bit brighter on a few of the days, Valletta and Floriana was still packed with locals and tourists alike, enjoying five days of merriment and fun. Nadur in Gozo presents a more spontaneous street party type of carnivalesque atmosphere while the Mdina Masked Ball, similar to the Venetian tradition. Now Easter and Holy week celebrations are rich in both cultural and religious traditions together with typical Lenten food, an experience to live through. I can guide you to the various churches, processions and sites linked to these festivities.

As mentioned last time, I have been out and about and Safi was the first location to be visited followed by Qrendi for the exploration of non-traditional itineraries. It was like plunging into the heart of rural Malta and witnessing a completely different scenario, which we are planning for you on future visits to our resort. Soon it will be Zurrieq where Mattia Preti, the well-known painter of the barrel-vaulted ceiling of St. John Co-Cathedral, took refuge from the plaque that hit Valletta. The house where he lived during that time and his works of art in the Zurrieq Parish Church will be our celebration of the 400 years of his birth in 1613. We look forward to revealing a little more of Malta to you and perhaps an alternative side of the island that our seasoned travellers may not have had the chance to see as yet. Although Sliema does not neighbour the resort, it is not a bridge too far when it comes to playing what is often called the ‘ultimate card game’. The Malta Bridge Club are only too pleased to invite their guests who are keen players, to attend sessions at their premises or at the Union Club. Arrangements can be made through the Members lounge. Also, as previously mentioned, The

Members lounge will be offering you a new members club menu, which we will be hoping to launch by Easter. Great news from the Gaia Foundation located next to the Resort. The Coastal Tower overlooking the bay will be open to our guests. This tower built during the reign of Grand master Lascaris in 1637 still dominates the promontory as a reminder of the dangerous times of Saracens attacks on the neighbouring villages. As part of our exposure to our rich cultural heritage, we are encouraging our guests to take back home “Treasures Of Malta” a booklet containing a wealth of information on Maltese History and other related publications which will

serve both as a gift or for oneself make such interesting reading. For any members who are over in March, there will be a guided walk headed by Nature Trust (Malta) around Il Majjistral Nature & History Park, adjacent to the Resort. This will offer those interested, a guide to the wealth of Flora and Fauna living within this area. With spring nearly upon us, I am sure I will have more events and activities across our wonderful island, to share with you very soon! Once again I look forward to welcoming you to the Resort, upon your return this year. Kind Regards Henri Diacono Club Concierge

HOTEL REVIEWS “Lovely visit to Malta” Mrs Marion F, London Reviewed February 2013, 2013 Have just spent a week at this lovely Hotel. It’s great if you want a quiet secluded hotel, the beach looks lovely although not warm enough for us to use in February. However, the hotel has many varied restaurants and a lovely indoor pool and spa area where you can relax and/or be pampered. The room met all our expectations and all the staff couldn’t have been more helpful.

“Superb stay” Mr & Mrs Y, Kilgetty UK Reviewed July 27, 2012 NEW This hotel resort is absolutely fantastic. We had a superb stay and can only say it was a fabulous holiday + so relaxing. The staff were excellent in all the facilities + made us very welcome. We dined at the “Agliolio Restaurant” which we rate as 5*. The food was freshly cooked, the menu very varied + had something different to eat every evening. One night we had room service the presentation was excellent, food very hot thoroughly enjoyable, It was just like being in the movies!! Other facilities were excellent, 2 outdoor swimming pools + 1 indoor with the usual jacuzzi, sauna, steam room, all excellent + very clean, although we only used the indoor one as it was February + not hot enough to use the outdoor pools.

“Excellent break!” Mr Andrew S, Ireland Reviewed July 27, 2012 NEW Recently visited the Golden Sands on a fractional ownership vacation package. Although the prices were fair, we decided to think about it first and get back to them. Over all it was a great experience. The food was excellent and the service was outstanding. The view from our room is like nothing we have ever seen before. The lagoon pool is amazing, however we couldn’t swim as it was still quite cold. We will definitely be returning back in the Summer! I totally recommend this hotel, and furthermore, we met a cab driver who is the politest we have ever seen.

Radisson Blu Resort & Spa, Malta Golden Sands “Great choice: The Golden Sands Hotel” Reviewed February 22, 2013 We only had a short stay of 3 nights at Golden Sands during vacation on Malta in mid Feb 2013, that we very much enjoyed. The place is exclusive: between the Golden Bay and a nature reserve area, holding a private section of the beach. Optimal area for snorkelling and diving. This is in fact a 5-star hotel, and we’ll recommend it to our friends. Rooms and the whole hotel complex are nice, well equipped, well maintained and clean, staff is very friendly and service-oriented. Excellent restaurants for all tastes. We only had a quick look at the the fitness and relaxing areas, no time to enjoy, but everything looked great! We do plan for another stay and having more time to enjoy!

“Good experience in Malta” Reviewed February 17, 2013 Enjoyed a great trip to Malta. The Radisson Hotel is a terrific place to stay with super facilities, friendly and efficient staff and a beautiful beach location. There are excellent restaurants within the hotel complex to suit all tastes. The indoor pool and spa are very relaxing clean and well maintained as was the rest of the complex. Rooms were well serviced and very well equipped. Having a car hire desk at reception was a tremendous benefit and I would recommend car hire which was very reasonably priced and enabled us to see lots more of the beautiful island than would otherwise have been possible.

“Radisson Blu,Golden Sands.” Reviewed February 9, 2013 Spent five days in this lovely hotel, after spending ten days in Gozo (St Patrick’s Xlendi, excellent). We where upgraded to a suite that was luxury, feather pillows and full kitchen and massive balconies. The food was top class and we used room service a few times and was very impressed. The hotel is in a lovely area and we did quite a lot of walking. They had a great set up on the beach with a good snack bar, free sun loungers and the sea was beautiful for october,we really enjoyed our time at the Radisson and would return.
