Quiet Beauty in American Cities: Photography by William Fuller

presented by Phoenix Airport Museum Open 24 hours a day Through October 25, 2009 William W. Fuller lives in a remote area in central Arizona, surrounded by wild country, miles from the nearest town. Where he lives is a contrast to the cities he photographs, yet the solitude and spaces in wilderness have a common bond with the quiet beauty and vast expanses in the city. Fuller photographs high and wide with his large-format view camera, avoiding streets at the bottom of concrete canyons. He’s far enough away that the windows on buildings are distant patterns, not portals into the human activity inside. He strips places down to their bare essentials, turing cities into near abstractions. He turns their plainness into pattern, their simple geometries into engaging compositions.

“(500) Days of Summer”, an old school style “Who Done-it”, that works! Review by Stan Robinson The name of actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt is that name one may recognize but can’t quite put a face to it. He got my firm attention in the 2007 sleeper hit The Look Out as the promising star athlete whose life changes after an accident. Another powerful performance followed in 2008’s Stop-Loss as a soldier looking forward to returning from Iraq, only to be re-deployed for another tour of duty. I’m going on record, officially, after his role as Cobra Commander in the soon to be released G.I. Joe: Rise of the Cobra, Joseph Gordon-Levitt will be very recognizable as that next actor on the fast track to notoriety! In (500) Days of Summer, what could have been the average “teenage angst” movie about coming of age in the real world, Joseph Gordon-Levitt gives us a character that we all can relate to. Having a crush on someone and as life moves forward, it

grows into love on one side while indifference is the outcome on the other. The title is a girl named Summer (Zooey Deschanel) that Tom (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) casually meets. Over the next 500 days (a year and a half) their story is revealed as the narrator counts down the days with added insight, as Tom and Summer grow, by life’s experiences, into adults. The film moves quickly as the days go by, and the two main actors give us characters that grow before our eyes,

FILM! SECTION “Coraline” 3-D DVD, Technology takes a step! By Stan Robinson that mirrors her own, except that everything and everyone is as she imagines they should be in her real world. Frequently visiting the “other world”, all seems well until Coraline begins to realize that her “other parents”, in the alternate universe, have ulterior motives. When a writer forms the idea for a feature article, starts the process of research and data gathering for the basic theme, an overall concept is usually in place. Sometimes that concept will broaden. In this case, two aspects became apparent, and with space limitations will be presented in two parts. Part one is the DVD “Coraline” with two versions, a 2-D and a 3-D version (double sided DVD). Yes, that’s right, it’s 3-D on a DVD disc with the viewing glasses being provided as part of the package! In part two I’ll get into the technology behind 3-D on disc, along with the companies involved, tech data, and its future.

8

The animated story presents Coraline (voiced by Dakota Fanning), disillusioned with her parents who live in their own world because they’re both writers, is an only child and left to play on her own. She discovers a hidden door in her house that leads to another universe July 23rd - July 29th, 2009

Writer/director Henry Selick, his team of high-tech animators, and puppet makers using stop-motion animation, create the two worlds of Coraline in breathtaking style! The theatrical release featured the improved 3-D technology that can get in the way of a movie, sometimes even over powering it. This was not the case with “Coraline”. The 3D digital technology with the grey polarizing lens (unlike the old fashion one blue, one red lens glasses) is impressively flawless as it brought us into the world of Coraline for the movie theatre. On this DVD release of “Coraline”, the 3-D process on DVD, utilizes the familiar red/blue lens process, which I viewed on my Mac Mini with a widescreen LCD monitor, was acceptable. I did have to turn up the brightness to bring out the darker scenes. The high point of the DVD and well worth the price is the 35-minute special feature! The AZWeeklyMagazine.com

total process of making “Coraline” from concept to completion with input from the director, voice actors, and production personnel is highly informative. In fact, I watched the special feature a second time and watched “Coraline” again, paying special attention to a lot of the aspects highlighted in the special feature! Is 3-D on DVD the next step as technology moves forward not only in the production and making of movies, but also in the presentation for the theatre, and, home theatre systems? The answer that question and more in

part two, “3-D on DVD: Yea or Nay?” “Coraline”; now on DVD, suggested retail price $29.98; Featuring the voices of Dakota Fanning, Teri Hatcher, Jennifer Saunders, Dawn French, Keith David, John Hodgman, Robert Bailey Jr., and Ian McShane. Written and directed by Henry Selick; Focus Features / Universal Studios Home Entertainment; Rated PG for thematic elements, scary images, some language and suggestive humor. Runtime: 100 minutes.

to prove Soraya’s innocence in a legal system stacked against her. Soraya’s husband, with his powerful connections, prevails and she’s found guilty. And, Zahra is absolutely devastated as the death penalty is carried out in the town square. When a journalist (Jim Caviezel) is stranded in her remote village, Zahra risks everything including her life, and tells Soraya’s story. And he, realizing the gravity of what he has been told, has to flee to save his own life when it becomes apparent that the villagers will stop at nothing to keep the event hidden from the outside world.

“The Stoning of Soraya M.” A powerful reminder of the rights of women… Review by Stan Robinson This film will bring tears, because, it’s based on a true story. I was also reminded of the ideals of this country, as well as others throughout the world, that hold women equal to men… Soraya (Mozhan Marnò), an Iranian woman, is a kind, spirited woman whose bad marriage leads her cruel, divorce-seeking husband to conspire against her, trumping up charges of infidelity, which carry the unimaginable penalty. Zahra (Shohreh Aghdashloo), Soraya’s aunt, becomes aware of the scheming, and outright lies and deceit, and attempts

This is the first film in quite some time that I’ve viewed, and had to turn away, as the villagers carried out the death penalty. “The Stoning of Soraya M.” is an upfront, in your face, reminder of the basic principal of mankind. We’re all equal, no matter the race, religion, politics, and most importantly: gender… In Iranian with English subtitles. Starring Shohreh Aghdashloo, Mozhan Marnò, James Caviezel, Navid Negahban, Ali Pourtash, and David Diaan. Directed by Cyrus Nowrasteh; written by Betsy Giffen Nowrasteh & Cyrus Nowrasteh; Roadside Attractions release; Rated R for a disturbing sequence of cruel and brutal violence, and brief strong language; Runtime: 116 minutes

help her find love. “G-Force” In this animated story, its government’s never ending quest to use every means at their disposal in the world of spys and counter spys. A covert program is put into play, train a special unit and arm them with the latest high-tech spy equipment. Just who are the members of this special unit, “Guinea Pigs”! All is fun and games for them until they realize that the fate of the world is in their hands! Featuring the voices of Nicolas Cage, Penelope Cruz, and Sam Rockwell. Rated PG

“Orphan” In this horror/thriller, a couple decides to adopt after the tragic loss of their unborn child. Eats and Treats to Beat the Heat When it’s over 110 out, we all want to cool down any way we can. And dining is no exception! If you live or work in the North Valley area, check out these nearby hotspots that’ll leave you feeling cool.

Eats

1. Pita Jungle: Pita Jungle has a “best-kept secret” location across Tatum from Desert Ridge, north of the 101, south of Walgreens, and behind the U.S. bank. This location is worth the treasure hunt – the décor is chic and more upscale than the location near Shea 14, with funky art focal points adorning the walls and tables. As with all locations, the menu offers a tantalizing array of hot and cold dishes, with surprisingly low prices relative to portion size. We recommend the hummus appetizer, Riviera Tuna Salad, and a Diet Coke, served in an oversized glass to keep

you cool. 20910 N. Tatum Blvd. Ste. 140, Phoenix, AZ 85050.

10

2. Chloe’s Corner: This hip and affordable café/coffee shop, located July 23rd - July 29th, 2009

in Kierland Commons across from Anthropologie, is the brainchild of FOX Restaurant Concepts, the guys who brought us Sauce, North, and True Food Kitchen. Chloe’s is as popular as FOX’s other bustling moneymakers, and with good reason! Coffee is $.50 (yes, fifty cents!) per cup, and the food is outstanding. We recommend the Chinese Chicken Salad, and any of the completely delectable cookies. To stay cool, try a chocolate, vanilla, or strawberry milkshake! 15215 N. Kierland Blvd. Ste. 190, Scottsdale, AZ 85254.

4. Yogurtology: Yogurtology is a business in the same vein as Mojo Yogurt, but their extensive topping selection sets them above and apart even from Mojo. The store is located at the corner of Thomson Peak and Frank Lloyd Wright next to AJ’s, with decorative white plastic chairs and tables which offer funk of their own. Yogurtology offers twelve yogurt flavors (which rotate) and an elaborate array of mix-ins ranging from gumballs to baklava. Price is based on total weight of purchase.

fruits, berries, and cereals offered. The chain was founded in South Korea in 2002, and professes to be the original frozen yogurt chain of its type, having opened three years before its chronologically closest competitor. Like Mojo Yogurt, Red Mango has a red décor theme, but with a much more upscale appearance: tiles decorate outdoor tables as in a home and garden magazine, rather than aligning the walls as part of a funky motif. 7000 E. Mayo Blvd. Ste. 1020, Phoenix, AZ 85054. 6. Scala’s Italian Ice: Scala’s is by far a crowd-favorite here in the valley. It’s a family-owned Italian ice shop located in North Phoenix, at Bell Rd. & 40th Street. Scala’s offers 13 Italian ices every day, gelati, soft serve ice cream with mix-ins, and

Treats 3. Mojo Yogurt: Mojo Yogurt is awesome. It’s so awesome that we could make some lame pun here about it getting our mojo going, but we’ll spare you. Point being: this place is cool. It’s located on High Street in City North (you’ll recognize it by the crowds out front), and offers eight frozen yogurt flavors (tart, sweet, and non-dairy), which vary by week, and mix-ins a plenty! Mix-ins range from fruit to Cap’n Crunch to melon mochi (mochi is a Japanese rice cake) to Snickers. Price is based on total weight of purchase. The décor is contemporary funk, with tiles lining the store’s red walls, and funky plastic chairs for patrons. 5410 High St., Phoenix, AZ 85054. AZ WeeklyMagazine.com

15029 N Thompson Peak Pkwy. Ste. B107, Scottsdale, AZ 85260. 5. Red Mango: Red Mango, located at Scottsdale and the 101 next to Subway, offers three staple frozen yogurt flavors: tart original, pomegranate, and tangerine-flavored tangomonium. Their mix-ins are decidedly healthy, with a variety of

even New York Egg Creams, but we’re loyal to the Italian ices (at unbeatable prices!). We highly recommend the peanut butter chocolate chip and mint chocolate chip ices, and promise – they’ll keep you cool! If you visit one place on this list, visit Scala’s. It’s worth the trip! 4030 E. Bell Rd. Ste. 101, Phoenix, AZ, 85032.

The Night Owl If you have an entertainment event or item to include in “The Night Owl” send to brent.diggins@azweeklymagazine.com “The Night Owl” will cover restaurants, clubs, bars, celebrities, music and other miscellaneous events.

BY BRENT DIGGINS AND EFIA MOORE Are you in a relationship? If you aren’t, do you want to be or are you just living the life? In this edition of the Night Owl, Efia tell you what she thinks of relationships, and we take a look at some drink specials and more. For all that happened, is happening and will happen in the Valley, read on. Are you following us on Twitter yet? @bdiggs and @myFEmy. Happy Hour at Sam’s Café: With every bar and restaurant beginning to offer or extending their happy hour, it’s easy to forget what a good happy hour really is. I was reminded recently when I visited Sam’s Café, a southwestern restaurant located on the second level of the Biltmore Fashion Park. To say Sam’s Café offered an affordable happy hour would be an understatement. Food selections range from $3.95 to $5.95, and drink selections include $2.95 house margaritas and wine, $1 off draft beer and $1.95 bottled beer. I over-indulged on the free chips and salsa and paired the Sedona rolls ($3.95), two large southwestern egg rolls stuffed with chicken and cabbage, with a house Coyote Margarita ($2.95). All of it was delicious and filling, and left me a little embarrassed that I put way so much food. My only complaint is the restaurant’s air conditioning is lacking, and between all the windows and the delicious hot salsa, I was burning up. The Night Owl gives Sam’s Café’s happy hour four hoots, and will be soliciting friends to do happy hour there again soon. For more info visit canyoncafe.com The Lazy Singleton: Lately it seems that every one of my girl friends is either in a relationship or starting one, leaving me to be the solo one in the pack. I get forwards of the sweet texts they receive from their prospective beaus, second hand accounts of romantic evenings, and asked to play interpreter on situations and behaviors. I can honestly say that I’m happy that they’re falling in love, but I’m just as happy that I’m not. Listening to their relationship progress is enough of an emotional roller coaster; I can’t even imagine having to deal with one myself. Sure romantic nights of dinners, cocktails, and talking on the phone sounds fun, but going into work on two hours sleep do not. Call me lazy and selfish, but rearranging my schedule to accommodate another person is not worth it for me right now; period. I can scarcely keep up with my life and my friend’s lives, let alone another person’s too. Besides, I only recently started to be good at being single. I’m very much enjoying cooking elaborate dinners for myself, and getting all dressed up to go out alone. So while all of my friends are enjoying late nights with their new men, I’ll be happily at home reading with a nice glass of wine and

looking forward to my early morning workout. Cardinals Fans!: Are you ready for some football? The Big Red Army, an Arizona Cardinals fan club is, and they are having their first party of the season at Cadillac Ranch and the Tempe Marketplace plaza on Saturday, July 25 from 4 – 11 p.m. There will be all sorts of fun including live bands, Cardinals players, Big Red and the Arizona Cardinals Cheerleaders, and a pep rally at 6 p.m. Plus there will be a great raffle with prizes that include sports memorabilia, a flat screen TV, a trip to the Cardinals vs. Seahawks game, and a Cardinals slot machine. Sounds like a good time; all you need to do is show up. For more info on the fan club visit azcardsfanclub.com. Train Tracks Program: Have you heard about the Train Tracks program? It is a contest that hosts live performances along the Metro Light Rail stations. Since The Train Tracks launched in February, artists ranging from single performers to entire bands, rockers to opera singers, have been performing once a week on the Metro Light Rail. Their unedited performances are posted to thetraintracks. org where the general public votes for their favorite. Anyways, the second of four Train Tracks Quarter Finals featuring three local bands will be held on Friday, August 7, 2009 at Phoenix Art Museum as part of first Friday activities. Mark it on your First Friday itinerary. Visit thetraintracks.org to hear the musicians and vote for your favorite. Café Carumba New Menu: Downtown Scottsdale spot Café Carumba has introduced a new menu that brings in some more Mexican inspired dishes. They still have their signature sandwiches and salads, but they’ve added a “Mexican Platter” section that features items like Carne Asada, Green Chile Pork, Taco Platter, and Pescado Veracruz. I think this was a good move for them as some things on their old menu weren’t familiar to many, which scared a lot of the “average” consumers off. Café Carumba does have great food an awesome happy hour located right in Downtown Scottsdale. For more information visit cafecarumba.com. Be safe, be a good person. Till next time…

Summer Fashion DO’s and DONT’s

and beach-friendly - and you can easily find one in the right size to match your needs.

It’s summertime in the Valley, and it is HOT! Everyone is showing more skin. Here’s some helpful insight as to what to show off, what to cover up and how to look good doing it! Check out four fabulous fashion trends and their heinous counterpart fashion” DON’Ts” (DON’T try them at home, at the pool, or anywhere else!).

DON’T: Straw hats. We’re fashionistas, not mountain climbers or Animal Planet hosts. There’s no reason to be toting straw as anything other than a tote. Back away from the hats, ladies – it’s just not worth it! DO: Long, loose dresses + skirts. An abundance of hip, chic, and hippieinspired skirts and dresses are gracing sizzling preview of what’s waiting for them later on. Ladies, when your clothes are off, these suits should be on! DON’T: Lingerie worn badly. Showing bra straps is sexy and cute, but make sure your bras are up to being paraded in public. Frayed and tattered bras are a turn-off, and so are mismatched bras or bras that show too much for your shirt. If you wouldn’t let a friend wear it, don’t wear it yourself.

DO: Lingerie-inspired swimsuits. We first spotted these at a SKYY vodka pool party, and they’ve been popping up at pools all over the Valley. They’re sexy to boot, and give the guys a

DO: Straw bags. These nifty bags are ideal for schlepping all of your items necessary for summer survival: cell phones, makeup, sunscreen, water bottles, swimsuits and towels, and the like. They’re extremely poolside metropolitan area in the United States, Phoenix Fashion Week was established in 2005 with a mission to feature talented, established and emerging fashion designers from around the globe. Quickly growing to become the leading fashion industry event in Arizona, Phoenix Fashion Week has been successful in its core goal and mission of bridging designers and buyers. With many success stories already documented such as 7 Diamonds’ (a premiere line of men’s trendy dress shirts) entry into Nordstrom via Phoenix Fashion Week last year, this fast growing organization is moving full force to make 2009’s fashion week the best and biggest yet! In honor of its 5th Anniversary, the first half of 2009 already boasted major additions to Phoenix Fashion Week. The organization launched its first ever “giving back” holiday

to wear everywhere from poolside to partying. DON’T: Baggy shirts + shorts. Your apparel should show off your assets! Hiding your curves beneath loose, boy-like shirts and long, unflattering shorts is never sexy. Whatever your body type, you can find the right outfit to make you feel glamorous, pretty, and self-confident. Don’t hide your body – embrace it! DO: Aviators. When Target begins carrying a trend, it’s not always still hot. But we’re making an exception for aviators. These are very well-liked. If you own a pair, bust them out this summer! Aviators are fun and frisky conversation-starters; you never know what might take flight! DON’T: Stunner shades. Kanye West creates some awesome dance music, but his glasses are not as cool as he thinks. The only thing stunning about these shades is how stunningly difficult it is to see while wearing them.

boutique and department store hangers this season. If you haven’t purchased one already, it’s time to add this trend to your personal wardrobe. These items have forgiving shapes, and are soft, comfy, and easy initiative working with the local – Helping Hands AZ - to raise money and donate apparel and gift cards to needy families across the Valley for the holidays. The organization has launched the first in a series of Apparel for Success Workshops, a two day seminar featuring industry experts teaching the basics of launching, maintaining and growing a successful apparel business. Phoenix Fashion Week has also contributed to television by offering advice on simple twists on every day fashions, from the style experts of Phoenix Fashion Week on Sonoran Living ABC 15 and previewing 80s comeback style on Fox 10. Taking place October 1-3, 2009 Phoenix Fashion Week’s 5th anniversary event will be held at the famed hipster Mecca - Hotel Valley Ho. It will feature 24 established designers including four accessory

designers, and 12 emerging designers that will showcase prêt-a-porter, couture, denim and luxury sportswear collections. The event will kick off with the Fashionably Pink opening gala highlighting an all pink celebrity fashion show and benefiting the Phoenix chapter of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. The three day event will also include a style villa with designer sample sales and public and private after parties each night. Having garnered major support from the local community for the past four years, including high profile residents, city officials, business leaders and the media, Phoenix Fashion Week is already an internationally recognized fashion event while still maintaining its strong ties within the state of Arizona.

Sportsman’s Fine Wine & Spirts

By Nathan Mears

Mears is the Director of Operations at Sportman’s Fine Wine & Spirits, Choosing the “correct” wines for with multiple Valley Locations a casual party, elegant dinner, or family gathering can be a daunting (www.sportsmans4wine. com). If you have questions or task for some. As much as it would please my mother, a rocket comments, please write to nate@ sportsmans4wine.com. scientist I am not; therefore, if I can do this, so can you. When selecting the wine, most people Phoenix focus on the food; however it 3205 E. Camelback Rd isn’t the only thing to consider (602) 955-WINE – it’s just the most discussed. Your event and the people who Glendale will be sharing the wine are just 6685 West Beardsley as important and need to be (623) 572-WINE considered. An intimate evening is a good time for those really special wines. The flavors, aromas, and textures delivered by a great Red Burgundy, Russian River Valley Chardonnay, or Washington State Syrah evoke emotions the wine drinkers share, and create an even more memorable night. For a completely different scenario, like the neighborhood barbecue, you need to look for drink-ability; something tasty but not thoughtprovoking. A juicy Spanish Garnacha, simple New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc, or dare I suggest something with bubbles, perhaps an Italian Prosecco, would all be good choices. These two occasions to share wine represent opposite ends of the spectrum, and there are many more spanning the scale. The next time you are picking out wine for an event, first think about where it lies on this ‘social scale’. And remember, if you would prefer someone else do the wine selecting, stop in to your favorite wine shop and let them do it for you; they’ll make you look like a star.

Ford Edge

Picture and Review by Chad Haire The Ford Edge is one of the better looking SUV models sold today, especially if done in a nice color. But how does it drive? Well, the 3.5 liter V-6 puts out 265 horsepower and is hooked to a 6-speed automatic gearbox. Good acceleration here, but gas mileage has a wide range. I only got 13 mpg in heavy traffic, but keep in mind, this rig weighs over two tons. On the freeway, we saw 21 mpg, so it would appear the body does a good job of slicing through air. Expect an average of 16-17 mpg overall. The Edge has a sporty look to it,

but don’t attempt sporty driving. The steering and suspension are too soft for race-like cornering. This is a street/highway cruiser. The ride is very comfortable if you order the optional all-wheel drive system, which will set you back a few thousand. The two-wheel drive Edge is less expensive, but has a very firm ride. Take your pick. There is not a third-row seat here, but four passengers will have plenty of room in the tworow seats. The Edge starts at about $25,000. Loaded up, it can hit $35 grand. Lincoln has a fancier version called MKX, but it sells for $45,000.

AZ Weekly’s have been true in the stone ages, but in today’s society, producing children cannot be and is not the only function of a family. Also, traditionally, the family was society’s primary economic unit. In today’s epoch the economic role of the family has gradually diminished. We now find that while ideally the family is a wonderful and strong concert, it can also be a great distraction and constant interruption. You Have The Green Light To Rock Out At Club Red (NAKED DAVE’S ANNUAL NAKEDFEST FRIDAY JULY 31ST AT CLUB RED)

up loud, hot and sticky by the same line-up that’s been unapologetically delivering what BC has come to be known for – powerful, melodic music laced with fun, swagger, great playing, and expert showmanship. MotherLoad is blatant truth in advertising and everything you might expect from a band of rock stars called Big Cock.

Come kick back, rock out, raise hell and let loose at Naked Dave’s Annual NakedFest, Friday July 31st at Club Red. Headlining the show will be Phoenix’s own “Big Cock” along with an impressive ten band line-up including Naked Dave and the Hollywood Saints, Dirty Dan and the Distributors, Love Mound, The Relics, Arvin’s Garden, Chasing Claymores (from San Diego, CA) Bash (from El Paso, TX) and more.

Pulling no punches, vocalist and lead loud-mouth Robert Mason, BMF (formerly the front man for Elektra records’ Lynch Mob and Sony’s Cry of Love) breaks the ice with “Get a load of Me”, a raucous city-to-city romp through groupie-filled back-stages and endless throngs of adoring fans. Track two is a thundering, drumheavy Zeppelin-esque homage aptlytitled “Stamina” and drummer John Covington has it – pummeling the song with the braggadocio of his 48” (gong), ear-splitting cymbal crashes, and giant, vintage Leedy drum kit. There’s no subtlety to his earnednickname “The Pulverizer”.

Two venues in one, Club Red in Tempe is a live music venue featuring the most talented local bands, regional bands and national touring acts. Its spacious, crowd-friendly atmosphere is well-equipped for a night of rock, metal, mayhem and fun. Doors will open at 7:30pm and the first band goes live at 8pm! All proceeds from the event will be donated to Phoenix Children’s Hospital. All pre-sold tickets will receive (1) raffle ticket with each ticket purchase. Raffles will be held for (3) autographed guitars (Greg Bennett, BC Rich, Mudd Guitars, along with a MetalMaster Warlock signed by King from Slayer) and so much more. Fans can also enjoy an in-store Meet and Greet with Big Cock Friday afternoon before the show.

Headliner… (Sneak Peak) BIG COCK – SAVIORS OF ARENA ROCK

42

July 23rd - July 29th, 2009

Big Cock, the self-

AZWeeklyMagazine.com

proclaimed “Hardest Band in the Land!” follows up 2005’s debut CD “Year of the Cock” and 2006’s sophomore “Big C**k” with a sonic, hard rock blast to the face “MotherLoad.” MotherLoad makes it clear that Big Cock considers themselves the heirapparent to the rock & roll throne, reverently treading in the footsteps of classic rock bands such as AC/DC, Montrose, Van Halen and Guns N’ Roses - and they aim to save rock & roll one arena at a time. A tall order and an arrogant proclamation, but Big Cock clearly fills an aural void left vacant of late. MotherLoad, the band’s third fulllength CD is a satisfying dose of hard rock served

The bombastic “Breaking My Balls” continues with an infectious, dirty groove that is guaranteed to keep heads banging and clenched fists pumping– spewing raw energy you can taste and smell. By the time “Bump and Grind” climaxes, you’re covered in enough nicotine, cheap perfume and the sour sweat of your favorite exotic dancer that you’re feeling guilty and begging for a shower. “Road to Ruin” puts you on the Big Cock tour bus where guitar hero Dave

NAKED DAVE’S MUSIC – A PASSION SECOND TO NONE Henzerling injects blood and emotion into the track with a signature, riffladen style honed during his 80’s days with bands such as L.A.’s Keel, Lizzy Borden and Capitol Records’ King Kobra. On the sensitive side, Big Cock delivers a classic power ballad on MotherLoad’s “Don’t Ask Me to be Faithful”, taunting love-struck rockers everywhere to wave their cell-phones and lighters while Mason not-soinnocently discloses his philandering ways with a crooning vocal and piano delivery that could bring a tear to Elton John’s eye. If radio still had balls this tune would sweep the air waves as the soundtrack for a million teenage heartbreaks. Colby’s thundering bass lays it down long and low on the sing-along anthem “Live to Rock” and you can literally feel the testosterone flow like a raging river on “M.I.L.F.”, a loving tribute to every hot mom you’ve ever lusted after. The laid back swing of “Feverish” sets up the CD’s coup de grâce, “Built for Speed”, a slamming rocker tooled for every NASCAR junkie who’s ever dreamed of barreling down the Daytona Speedway at 200 mph with two lingerie models making out in the back seat. Big Cock carries the rock-&-roll-allnight/lock-up-your-daughters banner with pride and MotherLoad may very well be the next classic hard rock record you’ll hear. BC delivers exactly what you’d expect from four guys that claim to be “The Hardest Band in the Land!” – songs about women, fast cars, hard-partying, and the trail of a thousand soiled hotel-room sheets... they’re the saviors of arena rock and they’re coming to Club Red to rock your world.
