ARTS! Holiday Arts Preview It has dropped below 70 degrees at night. That can mean only one thing… it’s the holiday season! In most places the start of the holiday season is signaled by cold weather and a flurry of snow. That’s not the case here in Phoenix, although seventy could be considered “chilly” to those that are used to the 110 degree temperatures. You certainly don’t need mounds of snow to put you in the spirit; simply browse through the following pages of the annual AZ Weekly / ShowUp.com Holiday Arts Preview. On the following pages you will find variety of performances, concerts and holiday displays. When you find an event you’d like to attend, visit ShowUp. com for more information. Make sure to check the Chase Ticket

Marketplace on ShowUp.com to see if discount tickets are available. Classic holiday tales are as much a part of the holiday season as is eggnog, cookies and warm apple cider. Take in Ballet Arizona’s enchanting production of The Nutcracker, or plan a visit with Uncle Scrooge as Actors Theatre presents A Christmas Carol for the last time at the Herberger Theater Center. For a true winter fantasy, immerse yourself in the beauty of The Snow Queen as told by Center Dance Ensemble. The Phoenix Zoo’s annual holiday extravaganza Zoo Lights features millions of lights and dozens of animated displays. Next door, the Desert Botanical Garden lines its walkways with thousands of candles for its Las Noches de las Luminarias. Both events promise to “light up” your holiday. ●● Ballet Ariozna’s The Nutcracker cost $1.8 million to create, involving more than 300 people. The production was made possible with a $1.3 million grant from the Sybil B. Harrington Trust. ●● Revenue from The Nutcracker accounts for 30 percent of Ballet Arizona’s annual income. The box office staff must be doubled to manage the extra ticket sales of more than 50,000 seats.. ●● Ib Andersen(choreographer and Artistic Director), Carey Wong (set designer), and Fabio Toblini (costume designer) consulted for a year creating the production.

●● 120 children — 80 from The School of Ballet Arizona — were chosen by open audition to perform in three casts for 21 performances. ●● Ballet Arizona has 34 professional dancers in The Nutcracker and 120 dancing children, split into three rotating casting. 58 musicians of the Phoenix Symphony provide live music under the direction of conductor Timothy Russell.

●● Andersen and Toblini didn’t want the mice to be too cute, so he modeled them after New York City subway rats. The Mouse King is 9 feet tall without his crown. The costume balances on a backpack worn by the performer. ●● There are 260 costumes in The Nutcracker, requiring more than 6,500 yards of fabric. The costumes were created in 17 shops across America, including Ballet Arizona’s. A tutu alone takes 12 yards of material and 60 hours to produce. The Nutcracker costumes are covered in sequins and beads; all the movement of the dancers means constant costume repairs.

●● The sets were created in four shops in England, Oregon, New York, and Arizona. More than 100,000 Austrian Swarovski crystals were used to create the Snow scene. The production uses 25 different backdrops. Nearly 1 mile of gaffer’s tape (black cloth tape) will be used in the set-up of The Nutcracker.

●● On ‘load-in day” four tractor trailers and two 24-foot rental trucks bring The Nutcracker sets, flats, lights, and special effects to Symphony Hall. It will take the production crew a week to get the scenery and lighting in place. Performances require 30 stagehands per show.

●● During the run of The Nutcracker Ballet Arizona female dancers will use over 300 pairs of pointe shoes or “toe shoes”. Pointe shoes are custom made to fit each dancer’s foot and cost over $90 a pair. Most pairs of shoes last one performance. The budget for pointe shoes for December alone is $45,000.

●● All of the dancers apply their own makeup and style their own hair. Costume department personnel will wash more than 125 loads of laundry during the run of The Nutcracker. Ballet Arizona, The Nutcracker, photo Rosalie O’Connor

“I was actually shocked no one had ever made this movie before,” Turteltaub explains. “It’s a classic tale written by Goethe as poetry, retold by Dukas as a musical suite, retold by Walt Disney in animation and retold by us as a live-action film.”

By Joseph J. Airdo While promoting the new action flick “Faster,” Billy Bob Thornton admitted that he is interested in appearing in a rumored sequel to the 2003 holiday comedy “Bad Santa,” saying “‘Bad Santa’s’ become like a classic Christmas movie. I’ve never done a sequel to one of my movies, but that one makes sense to me to do it.” Meanwhile, Ben Hibon (who helmed the animated shadow sequence in “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1”) is set to direct “Pan,” a gritty contemporary adaptation of J.M. Barrie’s classic “Peter Pan” tale that sees Captain Hook as a burned out ex-cop trying to track down a kidnapper whom witnesses describe as being “childlike.” Finally, “The Polar Express” director Robert Zemeckis is in talks to helm a straight-forward remake of MGM’s 1939 classic “The Wizard of Oz” for Warner Bros. Pictures. The motion picture is one of several similar projects currently in development, including an animated musical, a sequel and a prequel. Find out how to see Justin Bieber’s new 3D film “Never Say Never,” due in theaters Feb. 11, before everyone else and be among the first to get the latest scoop from Joseph J. Airdo at Examiner.com

Director Jon Turteltaub brings ‘Sorcerer’s Apprentice’ to life Interview by Joseph J. Airdo In “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice,” now available on DVD, Jay Baruchel plays a young man named Dave who receives a lesson in the art of magic from Nicholas Cage’s Balthazar Bake in order to protect Manhattan from Alfred Molina’s Maxim Horvath all while still trying to win the heart of Teresa Palmer’s Becky. Needless to say, the character has a lot on his plate. But director Jon Turteltaub acknowledged the impor-

December 2nd, 2010 - December 8th, 2010

Turteltaub even directly mirrors the sequence featured in “Fantasia” during a scene in “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice” in which Dave takes a few shortcuts during his training, resulting in a mishap involving several mops and other cleaning supplies.

tance of adding an ounce of simple beauty to the family friendly fantasy flick. Therefore, about halfway through the movie, Dave and Becky share a cage together while Tesla coil lightning bolts flicker all around them. “The writers did a beautiful job of finding a situation in which Dave could show his gifts, his talents to Becky while also making it romantic,” Turteltaub says. “Filming it, however, was insane because even though the lightning bolts are put in with CGI, the light effects themselves are real.”

“The trick for us in this sequence was balance,” the filmmaker notes. “How many effects? How big should they be? How many mops? How many brooms? How vital to the story? Should the music lead the action or the action lead the music? The balance was uniquely tricky in that scene.” Read Joseph J. Airdo’s review of “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice” and more from his interview with director Jon Turteltaub exclusively online at Examiner.com

Turteltaub added that a song had not yet been chosen for the sequence, making it quite a technical challenge to synchronize said light effects with the eventually selected “Secrets” by OneRepublic. “The soundtrack is beyond important to a movie,” Turteltaub explains. “It is perhaps the most important emotional aspect of the film. Music is everything. So the poor editor and the poor [visual effects] guys had to meticulously cut and create the scene not just for actor performances, but for the timing of the lightning bolts.” Of course, if you have not already recognized it, “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice” is designed around the popular animated musical segment from Disney’s 1940 motion picture “Fantasia.” It is something that Turteltaub calls the movie’s “raison d’etre.”

Filmmaker J. Blakeson talks ‘Alice Creed,’ ‘Hell and Gone’ Interview by Joseph J. Airdo J. Blakeson, writer and director of “The Disappearance of Alice Creed,” now available on DVD, be-

“I’m quite eager for people to come to the material cold,” Blakeson says. “That’s the way I love to watch films. I try to not watch trailers. I just go and see [the movie] so I can get the pure experience.”

Nolan, who also penned “The Dark Knight” and its upcoming sequel. Read Joseph J. Airdo’s review of “The Disappearance of Alice Creed” and more from his interview with writer/ director J. Blakeson exclusively online at Examiner.com

The filmmaker has reason behind his preference as “The Disappearance of Alice Creed” features more twists and turns than even the best amusement park roller coaster.

“I really enjoy it when a film grabs my by the scruff of the neck and just pulls me in,” Blakeson explains. “If you can do that and you can keep your audience, then I think they’ll thank you for it.” Much like his preference to avoid spoiling “The Disappearance of Alice Creed” for viewers who love surprises, Blakeson is remaining close-lipped about the other projects on which he is working. However, the filmmaker does acknowledge that he is in talks with Warner Bros. Pictures to direct the studio’s “Hell and Gone,” a “Titanic”-like historical tragedy/ romance set against the backdrop of the 1871 Great Chicago Fire. “I very much hope that it’s all going to pan out because it has got a really good script and I think it will make a phenomenal movie,” says Blakeson, giving credit to screenwriter Jonah

A follow-up to the special is currently in the works but Foley notes fans will be happy to know that a seven-minute short dubbed “Operation: Secret Santa,” in which Betty White voices Mrs. Claus, will accompany ABC’s rebroadcast of “Prep & Landing” later this month. Meanwhile, in “Coopers’ Christmas,” set in 1985, Foley plays Bill Davidson, a man who gives his brand new, state-of-the-art home video camera to Gord (Jason Jones), who then uses it to document his family’s holiday.

In “The Disappearance of Alice Creed,” two men (Eddie Marsan and Martin Compston) turn their apartment into a fortified prison, then kidnap a woman (Gemma Arterton) and tie her to a bed. Revealing any more would be unfair to the unsuspecting viewer. In fact, the surprises begin piling up from the opening scene, a title credits sequence that Blakeson admits is far from the norm, immediately tossing the audience into the action but keeping a sense of looming uncertainty at arm’s length.

Richardson), is reminded of the spirit of Christmas and the importance of being on Santa Claus’s North Pole team.

Naturally, Christmas chaos ensues and Gord quickly discovers that some memories simply should not be recorded. Although Foley admits to being born prior to the home video craze, he is well aware of the medium’s inevitable futility.

Actor Dave Foley decks the halls in ‘Coopers’ Christmas’ Interview by Joseph J. Airdo Dave Foley, one of the stars of the new movie “Cooper’s Christmas,” now available on DVD, can relate to the yuletide dysfunction demonstrated by the family in the flick. “I grew up in a house with a father who hated Christmas and he pretty much try to make it as miserable as possible for everyone,” Foley explains. “So my Christmas was mostly in the movies and television specials.” When asked about his favorite holiday classics, Foley listed “It’s a Wonderful Life,” “Dr. Seuss’s How the Grinch Stole Christmas,” “The Bishop’s Wife” and, of course, “A Christmas Story.” In fact, Walt Disney Animation Studios last year gave Foley an opportunity to participate in a new Christmas classic of his own, a half-hour special titled “Prep & Landing.” Foley lends his voice to an elf named Wayne who, after getting a new rookie partner named Lanny (Derek

“With my own kids, I do what every parent does and shoot video constantly,” Foley adds. “So I have hundreds and hundreds of hours of video that just sits in a box that nobody wants to watch.” Read Joseph J. Savvy with Citrus by Chef Rachel Albert

Expand your recipe repertoire. Flavor fish, add pizzazz to poultry, vitalize cooked vegetables, add sizzle to salads, and make delicious drinks with citrus fruits with citrus juice and zest. You’ll add flair to your daily fare for very few calories with fresh lemons, limes, oranges, and tangerines. (FYI: Many of these fruits and juices can be used interchangeably in recipes.) For the most satisfying experience, seek out freshly picked citrus fruits that matured on the tree not in some warehouse washed with detergents, de-greened with ethylene gas to bring on an artificial yellow-orange color in immature flesh, coated with orange dye, and treated with antibacterial compounds to discourage spoilage and create an extra-long shelf life. To unhook from the mass market food system and reconnect with Mother Nature, “purchase from small regional growers that use only fresh water to clean their fruit before packaging, pick mature tree-ripened fruit grown without pesticides and shipped without 24 hours of coming off the tree, and allow you to experience extraordinary citrus flavor,” recommends Bob

McClendon of McClendon’s Select Citrus of Peoria, Arizona. You can find his famous citrus fruits at these farmers’ markets around the valley. Town and Country Farmers’ Market October 6, 2010 - June 22, 2011 Wednesday’s 8:30 A.M. - 2:00 P.M. 4881 N. 20th Street, Phoenix, AZ 85016

Ever since Michael Jackson published his seminal work on beer styles, The World Guide to Beer, there have been efforts to pinpoint each style and pigeon-hole beers accordingly. And, while this has been helpful to most consumers since it allows them to easily determine which types of beers they prefer to drink, it has been equally maddening because many beers don’t lend themselves to rigid classification. Given the creativity of American brewers, along with the multitude of European and Asian brewers making their versions of traditional American styles, the lines have somewhat faded. Regardless, over the next few weeks, we are going to attempt to give you our interpretation of most of the basic styles of beer. Hopefully, this helps you find your favorites and expand your beer horizons.

The High-End Beer Division of Crescent Crown”

We’ll start with the Ales. All beers are essentially ales or lagers. Ales are brewed using top fermenting yeasts at temperatures normally in the 60-75F range. These yeasts normally produce additional fruity type flavors and the higher temperatures result in fast (one week) fermentations. Most ales can be sub-classified into one of the many ale categories. In some cases (i.e. Amber Ales), categories have been created just because nothing else fits. Altbier - Sometimes referred to as Germany’s brown ale, altbiers are fermented beers native to the North German area of Dusseldorf, brewed under cooler temperatures than most other ales (and later lagered). They are crisp and clean (more similar to lagers), and typically take on an orange-copper color appearance with a thick head. The beer’s backbone is normally moderately malty with an assertive bitter hop profile and a dry finish. Depth and balance of both malt and hops is quite common in a classic altbier. Amber Ale - A “catch-all” category of ales that has a broad spectrum of attributes, amber or red ales encompass those hard to classify beers with more color than an American pale ale but less than a brown ale (the amber to copper range). Because of their diversity, amber ales can have low to high malty character (although most are moderate to high with caramel representing the most common component of both aroma and flavor) and a hop level (citrus aromas and flavors common) that is anywhere from supporting and balanced to aggressive. The mouthfeel of an amber ale is heavier than an American pale ale and the roasted character nearly absent relative to an Irish red ale.

and then amped up a notch. American barleywines are among the highest strength beers available (at least 8% ABV, normally more than 10% ABV, and sometimes much higher), which is where their name is derived (like wine made from barley instead of grapes). They are typically amber to light brown in color with varying head sizes, sometimes cloudiness, and very thick bodies. Within the spectrum of beer styles, American

barleywines are stronger (alcohol and malt) than strong ales. The same is generally true relative to imperial IPAs, although the latter are typically more strongly hopped. American barleywines are distinguished from their English siblings in that they are generally hoppier in aroma, flavor, and bitterness and feature American hops. Continued on Page 27...

English Barleywine - Like the American barleywines, English barleywines are among the highest strength beers available (at least 8% ABV, normally more than 10% ABV, and sometimes much higher), which is where their name is derived (like wine made from barley instead of grapes). They are typically orange-amber to deep brown in color with varying head sizes, sometimes cloudiness, and very thick bodies. Within the spectrum of beer styles, English barleywines are stronger (alcohol and malt) than English strong ales, ESB’s, and brown ales. The same is generally true relative to old ales, although the latter can still be quite strong and only arbitrarily different. English barleywines are distinguished from their American siblings in that they are generally less hoppy in aroma, flavor, and bitterness and feature English hops. Wheatwine - A hybrid style between basic wheat beers and barleywines, the wheatwine (sometimes referred to as an Imperial/ Double Wheat) is a relatively “new” creation with a growing number of brewers making attempts at the style. They can range from deep golden or straw to orange-brown in color and be anywhere from clear to cloudy in appearance. As their name (barleywine)

implies, they are often quite strong in aroma and flavor in both alcohol and malt content. The malt base is not only rich, but includes a signifcant amount (but no more than 50%) of wheat in the profile. American wheatwines are typically balanced out with a significant amount of hops (much like an American wheat beer, tipping toward a hoppy vs. malty emphasis), although as more brewers create new examples of this style, the boundaries may become broader. For now, most wheatwines are imperal American wheat beers, while most of the higher alcohol content (but less than 8% ABV) German wheat beers are still classified as hefeweizens.

Belgian Ales - Abbey Dubbel - Originating from Belgian monastic brewing traditions of the Middle Ages, abbey dubbel ales are now produced by many secular commercial breweries in addition to some of the “authentic” Trappist (real Belgian monasteries) brewers. The dubbel is a double fermented ale that is dark amber to brown in color with a long lasting dense head. Dubbels often have low bitterness and reveal rich malt flavors of dark fruits, dry fruits, chocolate, nuts, and caramel. Belgian Ales - Belgian Ale - The Belgian ale category captures the regular, every day, yet distinctive ales characteristic of Belgium. These ales are the most “drinkable” of the Belgian styles (analogous to the range of ales between pale, amber, and brown of England or the U.S.) and are characterized by good balance and a relatively low alcohol content of less than 6%. The pale varieties often feature fruity, spicey, yeasty, and light malt aromas and flavors with light to medium bodies and a noticeable to prominently hopped finish. The dark

Belgian Ales - Abbey Quadrupel Sometimes referred to as “Abt,” the abbey quadrupel style is a product of Belgian monastic brewing. Like other abbey ales, these beers are now produced by many secular commercial breweries in addition to some of the “authentic” Trappist (real Belgian monasteries) brewers. These beers are quadruple fermented ales that offer the richest, strongest, and most complex flavors to be found among the Belgian abbey ales. These beers are dark red-brown to brown in color, can display relatively nice heads (despite the high alcohol level), and feature full and sometimes creamy mouthfeels. The flavors are highly imbalanced towards malty flavors (fruits such as plums, raisins, figs, even peaches are common, as well as chocolate and caramel), often contain yeasty tones (including the phenolic/ spicey byproducts of fermentation), and feature no hoppy character. The alcohol levels of these special beers are typically in the 10% and higher range.

Belgian Ales - Abbey Tripel - Abbey tripels are triple fermented Belgian ales that are brewed by secular brewers all over the world in addition to some of the “authentic” Trappist (real Belgian monasteries) brewers. A style first concocted by the monks at Westmalle, tripels are golden to slight amber in color and normally display generous and showy heads and great lacing. Their aroma and flavor profiles are rich, strong, and complex, displaying yeasty, spicey (clove and/ or peppery), fruity (e.g. oranges and bananas) and sometimes floral attributes. The addition of candi sugar and high carbonation keeps their bodies lighter than one might anticipate and the best examples hide the high alcohol presence quite well. While tripels can feature a sweetness, they unlike the other abbey ales - are often hopped enough to add a somewhat balancing bitterness to the flavor.

Abbey dubbels overlap some examples of both dark Belgian ales and strong ales in maltiness, complexity, and alcohol strength, normally nestled right in between the two.

Belgian ales can range in color from pale golden to a rich amber for the pale versions, and from amber to brownred for the dark versions. These beers can pour with huge heads, generally lace the glass well, and leave behind yeast sedimentation in the bottles from which they are poured. Belgian Ales - Belgian Strong Ale - Like regular Belgian ales, the Belgian strong ales also can range in color from pale to dark varieties. Regardless of the color, however, the Belgian strong ales are significantly stronger in alcohol content (7% and higher) and more complex than their weaker counterparts, although the good examples are not harsh. Flavors for the pale colored varieites include earthy, yeasty, fruity, peppery, sweet, and spicey attributes, while the dark colored varieties include caramel, bready, dark fruits (figs, prunes, raisins, plums), sweet, and spicey character. Belgian strong ales are also normally fermented with an addition of candi sugar. The resulting mouthfeel is typically moderate, often deceivingly lighter than their malt and alcohol content would suggest, due to the added candi sugar and high carbonation levels. The pale and golden varieties of Belgian strong ales normally differ from abbey tripels (which could be considered a subcategory of golden Belgian strong ales) in their lower bittering levels than the tripels, while the dark strong ales differ from dubbels in their malt and alcohol levels, but often overlap with the Abbey Quadrupels on both malt and alcohol levels (Abbey Quadrupels could be considered a subcategory of dark Belgian strong ales).

THE NEXT DANA WHITE? Shine Fights COO Jason Chambers Continues to Defy, Impress and Re-Invent the World of MMA “The More The Merrier” …or so they say. As far as the world of Mixed Martial Arts is concerned, the phrase holds tremendous value - and rings truer than ever. As the world’s most popular sport continues to evolve, one particularly ambitious behind the scenes force has managed to stir up plenty of excitement, grasping the strict attention of the fight world along the way.

MMA-purist in every sense of the word and often referred to as “The Mayor of MMA”, Chambers has seen all sides of the MMA universe from numerous perspectives as a fighter, television personality, manager, commentator, matchmaker and now promoter. One can argue that the perfect piece to the ever-growing MMA puzzle is now in place and has officially arrived. One peek at his resume and it’s quite clear Chambers is hardly one to shy away from a challenge, despite the size of the task at hand.

Despite the odds stacked against organizations rivaling that of the Ultimate Fighting Championship, features such as these integrated by Chambers have quickly earned the unanimous respect and approval of MMA-enthusiasts around the globe who crave their fights in quality and quantity - every way, shape and form. Having successfully overcome a laundry list of hoops, hurdles and obstacles in record pace, Chambers and his newly assembled team at Shine Fight Promotions have thus far proven themselves worthy – and have certainly come out fighting.

Are you one of those cats who wears their sunglasses at night? Or better yet, do you wish you lacked the consciousness so you could wear them? After all, that’s just about as “rockstar” as you can get - sort of. Now is your time to shine because not only you, but an entire group of partiers have come up on the same idea, and thus, the Stunner Shade Pub Crawl was formed. $25 guarantees you a night on the town without the usual party downers, as in long lines and cover charge. Ever come out of a bar high on life and ready to conquer the next, only to discover that 20 minutes in a line kills any buzz you have going? This time we skip those poor souls, say “No Thanks” to the cover charge and fist pump our way inside towards a selection of drink specials specifically for our crew. Half price drinks and some $4 you-call-its sound tasty. You will start at Firehouse Bar and prepare for the night with free pizza and bounce around to American Junkie, Suede, and Disco. After partying your little heart out, you call a taxi and even get a discount there!!! Now nothing beats that kids, so please, grab those sunglasses you have always wanted to sport even though they scream “douche” and make your way to Old Town Scottsdale at 7pm. www.meetup.com/TheScottsdale-Pub-Crawl/

Big Red Pour: International Craft Beer & Music Festival Sat Dec 4th The first and last thing you will see this Saturday is the lawn of the University of Phoenix Stadium. Why? Because the opportunity to taste over 100 craft beers is too exciting to say no to. Hence the eventual black out. The best part is these beers will be from all across the world including rare brews you have never heard of. As far as entertainment goes, there is a very special guest, Blues guitarist, singer, and songwriter Kenny Wayne Shepherd. If you don’t know who this is, you should because according to Guitar World he was ranked #3 after B.B. King and Eric Clapton. In other words, a

true artist. Kenny will headline at 8pm but prior to that there is more music to keep us moving. The lineup features The Elevens, Steve Ansel & the Jackson Street Band, and Sludge (KDKB band). Tickets are $10-$15 plus a beer passport and VIP tickets are also available for $35. 12pm11pm www.draftmag.com/bigpour

1st Annual Downtown DineAround Sat Dec 4th

I don’t know about you, but when going to a new restaurant I always like to sample it first, as in not drop $15 on an appetizer. This new “dine-around” has this same concept in mind. Ten downtown restaurants invite you in to take in their atmosphere and sample their cuisine. This means “restaurant hopping” and paying $2-$3 for small portions that give you an idea of what the place has to offer. Sample the Smoked Salmon & Warm Corn Cakes or Bison Bacon Sliders, even original cocktails and craft beers are on special. Make an event out of it. Each place is located in walking distance from the light rail, making it the perfect opportunity to swing through every place and stroll the streets of downtown enjoying eachothers company vs just sitting at a table for a numerous amount of time. Think of this as a foodie adventure of sorts. Onward we go! 11am-4pm www. downtownphoenix.com/dinearound

Got a hot event? Grand opening? Cool new promotion? Undiscovered gem? Please write to Maria at Nightowl@azweeklymagazine.com to possibly be featured here each week. Please include pictures when possible.

‘VALLEY LOVE’ to Perform at Joe’s Grotto Friday, December 10th in Support of Annual Christmas Wish Foundation

In September 2010, band manager Kyle Hollenbeck presented the group with the idea of working with various charity’s around the valley, one of those being 104.7 radio personalities John Jay & Rich’s annual Christmas wish foundation. This particular charity has done wonders to improve the quality of life for children and their families in need by offering assistance, comfort and most importantly, hope. Christmas Wish will inspire people and businesses forward on the journey from “wanting to help” to “can help” to “helping”. For their contribution, the band wrote and recorded a truly special song dedicated to their mission, teaming up with Local Music Venue Joes Grotto to throw this very special charity event

Yucca Rocks The Valley This past Tuesday, November 23rd, Social Distortion canceled their show at the Marquee Theater. Those of us lucky enough to be at the Yucca Taproom were treated to an incredible jam-session that doesn’t happen very often. Frank Turner was joined by members of both Social Distortion as well as Lucero for a late night set that both rocked and closed the bar. This Sunday, December 5th, Full Nelson, Valley Fever’s tribute to Willy Nelson will play the Yucca at 6PM. The night will include acts such as Hashknife Outfit, Junction 10, Tony Martinez, James Parks, Cody Gibson, Barefoot And Pregnant, Michelle Glimpse and Dog Of The Moon. Hope to see you there.....
