It’s surprising that Adam Pally, who plays Ben on ABC’s “Happy Endings,” went into show business considering how he fared in his first performance. “There is a video of me doing standup at 5 for my cousin’s Hanukkah talent show,” he says. “I am bombing, and everyone is heckling me. It prepares you for the rejection of this business.” Pally recalls trying next for the fifth grade production of “Fiddler on the Roof.” “It was clear in my audition – even at a young age – I was blowing everyone away,” Pally says, deadpan. “There were politics. I wound up playing Lazar Wolf. I f... stole that show. My go-to karaoke jam is, ‘If I Were a Rich Man.’ ” Unlike most kids who target show business as their dreams, Pally grew up knowing success in the business was hardly a given. Both of his parents had been entertainers, his dad an actor and his mom a singer. His dad lost a few parts and decided to switch gears, and went to medical school in Chicago. “Not often as a child do you get to see two separate occupations, especially such polar opposites,” Pally says. “Show business was very romanticized for me at a young age, and at a certain level I can finish what was started, which was completely misguided.”

FILM! Stan Robinson, ScreenScene.org

Reviewers’ Roundtable The following are reactions from each of AZ Weekly Entertainment Magazine’s film commentators in an effort to generate a well-rounded overview of this weekend’s new releases.

Randy Montgomery, AZ Weekly Film Critic Listen to Joseph J. Airdo’s movie reviews and more during the entertainment portion of “Breakthrough Thinking Radio,” 2-3 p.m. Thursdays on KXXT 1010 AM.

‘The Central Park Five’* Filmmakers Ken Burns, Sarah Burns and David McMahon examine the 1989 case of five black and Latino teenagers who were convicted of raping a white woman in Central Park. After having spent between 6 and 13 years each in prison, a serial rapist confessed to the crime. (NR – 120 minutes) *Not reviewed.

‘The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey’ Martin Freeman plays a hobbit named Bilbo Baggins who is swept into an epic quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor, which was long ago conquered by the dragon Smaug. (PG-13 – 170 minutes) Stan: This latest offering from writer/ directorPeter Jacksonwas indeed

a test to bear with the 3D and 48 frames per second technology to absorb the heart of the story. Having read the Tolkienclassic in school, and an admirer of director Ralph Bakshi’s 1978 animated version of the classic story, this latest in the saga suffers from too much presentation technology, prompting this reviewer to seek out a 2D showing in the hope of a more ‘down to Earth’ look at ‘Middle Earth’…(Grade: B-)

‘Hyde Park on Hudson’

Joseph: Forget “unexpected.” The journey that writer/director Peter Jackson takes viewers on with his first installment of his new prequel to “The Lord of the Rings” would be more accurately be described as “unbearable,” “undesirable” and “unendurable.” “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey” simply stretches author J.R.R. Tolkien’s story too thin – covering roughly 100 pages in close to 3 hours. As a result, the film features a tortuously tortoise like pace. Gollum is the movie’s only saving grace; giving an otherwise mundane migration through Middle Earth some much needed energy. Making matters worse, Jackson’s new 48-frames-persecond technology makes everyone look like they are hopped-up cartoon characters. (Grade: D)

Stan: Providing a historical glimpse of the president that my parents very highly respected during their day and named me after, my middle name is Delanor which is Delano + the ‘R’ from his wife Eleanor Roosevelt. The film has more of a character sketch feel than a drama of the man who guided our country through the ‘Great Depression’ with formidable insight for many of the social programs that are a main stay of American life today. (Grade: C+)

Bill Murray plays President Franklin Delano Roosevelt who, in June 1939, hosts the King and Queen of England only to find that international affairs must be juggled with the complexities of his domestic establishment – as wife, mother and mistresses all conspire to make the royal weekend an unforgettable one. (R – 95 minutes)

Randy: A fun, albeit probably not completely accurate historical picture featuring a cast of talented actors. Murray is surprising well cast and does an honorable job portraying the former philandering President. A holiday opening of a picture such as this would signify the desire to

Joseph: There is just something that feels a bit off about “Hyde Park on Hudson.” The new biographical dramedy about President Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s romantic life from director Roger Michell and screenwriter Richard Nelson is simply not substantial enough to be even remotely important yet it is not nearly colorful or lively enough to be entertaining, either. Instead, it sits squarely in the mundane and monotonous middle, coming across as some sort of vapid soap opera. Save for a charming performance from star Bill Murray whose story sadly takes a backseat to costar Laura Linney’s character, there really is nothing to see here. (Grade: D)

before we started shooting. “I saw the places even before I read the script and I came back with two images – one of the ski station with the mountains around it and one of the valley down below. I wanted to relay the relationship between the dark valley and the bright mountain. “I wanted to show some picturesque and descriptive images but I was really worried about that because I wanted the characters and the story to be the description of this geographic situation. I did not want the images to take place of that so I tried to be as discreet as possible.” – Agnes Godard

Professional Skateboarder Danny Way (“Waiting for Lightning”) By Joseph J. Airdo

The following quotes were pulled from interviews conducted by AZ Weekly Entertainment Magazine’s film columnists with talent speaking on behalf of movies recently released in theaters.

By Joseph J. Airdo

“I normally read [a script] one time without stopping and a few images come into my mind. I keep those images and try to make something around that. But this film project was a bit different because I went to see the shooting locations with [writer/ director] Ursula Meier one year

“Jake and I met up a few years ago and wanted to collaborate on a project. The idea of doing this documentary came up and Jake had been archiving footage of my career and some of my personal life since I was 11 years old all the way up until now. We never planned to do a documentary but we had all of this archived footage of these different events that happened. “Whatever drama that unraveled in the midst, we captured it all. Combined with some of the stuff that Jake knows about my personal life, he thought he could create a compelling film that breaks beyond the walls of the skateboarding world and would be appealing to anybody that potentially could see the movie and could relate to some of these scenarios – skateboarding or not. “I always say that you have to start with having belief in yourself – having confidence and not having doubt. Believe that no challenge is too great. Regardless if you win the challenge or not, the attempt is the win to me. So I say to never give up. Believe in yourself. If you have a dream, then pursue it. You are your own worst enemy. The only one who can stop you is yourself.” – Danny Way

Cinematographer Agnes Godard (‘Sister’) In “Sister,” which opened last weekend, Kacey Mottet Klein plays a boy who supports his older sister (Léa Seydoux) by stealing from the wealthy guests of a Swiss ski resort.

Then Jake moved to Hollywood, went to school for directing and eventually started his own company – Bandido Brothers.

In “Waiting for Lightning,” which opened last weekend, filmmaker Jacob Rosenberg tells the story of Danny Way, a young man whose dream was to jump China’s Great Wall on a skateboard. In his quest for greatness, Way continues to shape the very sport which helped save his own life. “Jake and I have a pretty deep friendship that goes way beyond making this film. It goes back into our childhood at skate camp. We worked on tons of skate videos over the years.

During the filming of the shower scene in ‘American Psycho’(2000), all of the women on the set gathered around to watch Christian Bale wash himself!

Editor Carol Martori (‘Waiting for Lightning’) By Stan Robinson “I happened to be working on another project called ‘King of Luck’ about Willie Nelson and was talking with Jacob Rosenberg about his project ‘Waiting for Lightning’. My husband has been involved in skateboarding industry for a very long time. I told Jacob I know the story about Danny Way I’m really interested, this sounds like a really great project, when I’m done with this let me know if you’re looking for an editor. Sure enough, he called and I came on board.

“Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire” (2005) There’s a lot going on in this fourth Harry Potter film, but it focuses in large part on the Triwizard Tournament, a major component of which requires Harry and his rivals for the trophy to face off against a fire-breathing dragon. Then again, how surprising is that, given that one of Hogwarts’ school mottos is “Draco dormiens nunquam titillandus” (never tickle a sleeping dragon)? “How to Train Your Dragon” (2010) Dreamworks Animation scored a major success with this franchise-launching computer-animated adventure about a Viking teenager (voiced by Jay Baruchel) who disrupts his village’s legacy of dragon slaying after he befriends a wounded young dragon that challenges his perceptions. The voice cast also includes Gerard Butler, Christopher Mintz-Plasse and America Ferrera.

‘Fritz the Cat’, released in 1972, was the first animated film to receive an X rating from the Motion Picture Association of America and the most successful independent animated feature of all time.

“It’s been years in the making, we were in editorial for a year and a half. There were 50 interviews averaging 2-3 hours long to edit and an awful to work. Asyou know, working with docs [documentaries] they can be cut in any number of ways and it took us some time to figure that out because we had such great material. Also since Danny was such a star at a very young age, there’s tons of footage of Danny out there so it became a task of really sorting through hundreds of hour and to determinewhat’s the story going to be. “The most compelling thing is, we knew we wanted to to make it about a human story, something that was broader than a story about a skate boarder and a stunt guy type of thing. We wanted to try to broaden the audience and make it appeal to people who can connect to some of the issues, trials, obstacles, and that human experience we all have in life. It took a while to get there, but I think we’ve accomplished that with ‘Waiting for Lightning’!”

Holiday Gift Guide: Thrillers Throughout the holidays, AZ Weekly Entertainment Magazine’s film columnists will share quotes from interviews they have conducted with talent speaking on behalf of movies released on Blu-ray and DVD just in time for the gift-giving season. This week, they take a look at some of the selections that are available to purchase for your friends and loved ones who thrive on thrillers.

would be more thrilling and exciting if I looked at it literally and carried it over into the realm of a real blood crime. How far will this man go to not die in jail? Because that is what is going to happen to him if he is unable to solve his problems. The question we wanted to ask was, ‘Will you give up the power that you love in order to hang on to your last shred of humanity?’ You kind of see that question being contemplated behind the eyes of all of these people.” – Nicholas Jarecki

In “Arbitrage,” Richard Gere plays a New York hedge-fund magnate who is desperately trying to complete the sale of his trading empire to a major bank before the depths of his fraud are revealed. Just as he is about to unload his troubled empire, an unexpected bloody error forces him to juggle family, business and crime, igniting the suspicions of a police detective (Tim Roth).

In “Killer Joe,”Emile Hirsch plays a young man who finds himself in debt to a drug lord and, with the help of his father (Thomas Haden Church), hires a hit man (Matthew McConaughey) to murder his mother, whose $50,000 life insurance policy benefits his sister (Juno Temple). Gina Gershon also stars.

Steven Spielberg “Saving Private Ryan” (1998): Spielberg’s World War II drama opens with what remains one of the most intense battle sequences ever filmed. “Schindler’s List” (1993): Brilliantly acted, this drama of a profiteer (Liam Neeson) bargaining for Jewish prisoners’ lives during World War II launched a new chapter of Spielberg’s career. “E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial” (1982): Before he phoned home, the title alien endeared himself to millions of moviegoers. “Jaws” (1975): It famously malfunctioned during filming, but a shark put Spielberg on the map with this still-suspenseful adaptation of Peter Benchley’s beachclearing best-seller.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey

Actor Steven Seagal (‘Maximum Conviction’) By Joseph J. Airdo In “Maximum Conviction,” Steven Seagal plays a former black ops operative who is assigned with his partner (Steve Austin) to decommission an old prison and oversee the arrival of two mysterious female prisoners. Before long, an elite force of mercenaries assaults the prison in search of the new arrivals. “My character is just a guy who has a background in the military with what we call special operations forces. That was not a far reach for me. I know a little bit about that. So I just kind of tried to breathe some of my experience and some of my friends’ experience into the character. It is really me – my background, my skilllevel and my history – with that kind of a character. I just sort of tried to use whatever I have in my repertoire of knowledge and so forth and so on to try and set up a situation where I am doing stuff that people have not seen a million times.” – Steven Seagal

Rapala Pro Bass Fishing WIIU/$49.99/Available Now

Videogame fishing has been around for quite some time and has managed to develop a dedicated following that has fallen in love with the concept of virtual angling from the comfort of their couch. With the development of motion controls the experience managed to become even more immersive, allowing games to include fishing rod peripherals. Now, as the WiiU brings the concept of second screen technology to the videogame market, the sport of video fishing just became a bit more interesting. “Rapala Pro Bass Fishing” takes advantage of the all-new Wii U GamePad by allowing players to explore lakes, display hot spots through fish finders and map displays, and cast and reel their line. While the game touts some new technology, it also sports some standards that fans have come to love, including realistic tournaments complete with announcers, leaderboards and updates, as well as trueto-life angling equipment and tools that will help you land the winning fish.

Proof Positive Arizona’s Wine, Cocktail Scene Rocks Responsibly By: Alison BailinBatz Look no further than the Four Seasons Troon North for Proof that Arizona takes the wine, beer and cocktail community – and its safety – seriously. Throughout the holiday season, the lux resort has launched a special “Make Merry” promotion, offering a last-minute overnight room rate to local guests dining at either Proof or Talavera restaurant. “Make Merry” rates can be booked two days in advance, and begin at $129 per night; the rate also is inclusive of complimentary overnight valet parking. For guests who prefer to be spontaneous, the promotion can even be reserved the same day or night of a guest’s dinner reservation. The Resort has prepared overnight “his” and “her” necessity kits for guests needing items such as makeup remover, toothbrush and face wash. The promotion can only be booked in conjunction with a reservation in Talavera or Proof restaurants, and is valid November 23 until December

23, 2012. It is only valid for new reservations, and does not apply to existing room reservations. For more information, please call (480) 5135039 and mention the “Make Merry” promotion.

Authentic. Fresh. Local.

“We want guests to enjoy the festivities of the season, while keeping safety top-of-mind,” says Director of Food & Beverage Bryan Feigenbaum. “This package allows them to indulge in a celebratory extra glass of Champagne or after-dinner glass of port, knowing they can sleep sound at Four Seasons rather than drive home.”

30 Wines for $30 Mon-Sat 11 am to Midnight, Sunday 10-2 brunch, 2 to Midnight.

Indulgence is easy at both Talavera – known for its creative wine and cocktail dinners – and the venue’s newest offering, Proof. Designed with the theme of an American canteen in mind, the restaurant focuses on home-style comfort fare sourced exclusively from the 50 states. The restaurant highlights small batch and craft distilled American spirits, with an emphasis on bourbon and whiskey, as well as wines from across the United States. More than 50 microbrews are available, with six beers on draft, while a wine selection of more than 50 bottles includes four wines on tap, served in chemist beakers.

Ask for these wines at finer restauarants Valley-wide www.distinctiveitalianwines.com

I am thrilled to write about a fantastic Italian sparkling wine that is brand new to the Arizona market. Ca’ del Bosco is its name and a reputation for excellence is its game! The winery is located in the Franciacorta wine region of northern Italy, just an hour northeast of Milan. Franciacorta is Italy’s leading production area for sparkling wines. Most of the Prosecco you find comes from the Franciacorta wine zone. Prosecco is indeed lovely and very popular especially this time of the year. But once you try the sparkling wines of Ca’ del Bosco, you will fall in love with their elegance and balance. They produce many– the one I wish to focus on is the Ca’ del Bosco Prestige Brut Non-Vintage. First a little about the winery – its founder, Maurizio Zanella, is quite an ambassador for the wine zone of Franciacorta. In the 1970’s, he saw the quality that could be produced from the grapes of Franciacorta. On a visit to France as a young man, he learned the French method for making quality Champagne. The influence on him was deep – in fact, one of his first winemakers came from the Champagne house of Dom Perignon. Maurizio set out to put Italian sparkling wines on the map and in the top league. The name, Ca’ del Bosco, means a house in the woods and that is just what it was for Maurizio’s parents, who purchased it as a country home to get away from Milan on the weekends. The little house on a hill, surrounded by chestnut woods had a few acres of vines, from which Maurizio built the winery to what it is today – one of the most respected and highlyacclaimed wineries in all of Italy. The Ca’ del Bosco Prestige Brut can currently be found in several restaurants in the Phoenix/ Scottsdale area; with an expected increase in popularity, its availability will soon be more wide-spread. The quality of the wine and attractive price point make it irresistible. It is at once fresh, elegant, delicate, and full of fruit on the palate. Made in the traditional method as used in Champagne, the sparkling wine Ca’del Bosco Prestige Brut is a blend of mainly Chardonnay grapes with smaller quantities of Pinot Noir and Pinot Bianco. Some of the vines are 135 years old and the winemaker also blends in 20% of his top reserve to make the Ca’ del Bosco Prestige Brut even more desirable. The wine has been awarded 90 points by Wine Spectator. The packaging is unmistakable – a beautiful clear bottle, enabling you to see the excellent color of the wine itself, topped off with an attractive gold foil capsule and gold label, and finally all wrapped in a vibrant orange cellophane. So perfect for holiday giving and celebrating! Even if you don’t normally turn to champagne or sparkling wines—this one should not be missed– it is a winner. I can’t wait to share a bottle with friends!

In Support of Blends By Nathan Brugnone,

Nathan@AZWineMakers.com Think of one red wine or white wine. Chances are the first wine that comes to mind is a single varietal, like Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Chardonnay, or White Zinfandel. These are single varietal wines, meaning they are made from a single grape (technically, these wines are a minimum of 75% of a specific grape). However, there are some blends with much history, like Bordeaux (Merlot, Cab Sauv, Cab Franc, Malbec, Petit Verdot). Still, there is some reservation regarding new blends by many in the wine-drinking world, and I would like to make an argument for them. There is always a push back against new trends and technologies. The

wine world is seeing this from consumers in regards to twist tops, even as Chateau Margaux adopts them for all but their Grand Crus (probably from reservations concerning market reception). There is also buyer anxiety regarding wine blends. Maybe you’re buying wine for a romantic evening. A blend is likely to give you more bang for your buck, no pun intended. Well, if you’re wondering why, here is the answer. Mystery, complexity, and depth—a reflection of what the evening is hopefully full of. Blends offer this because the winemaker’s arsenal of textures, colors, aromas, and flavors is vastly larger with many types of less expensive grapes than with one mass-produced variety. This holds true up through the price rungs. So, break rank. Expand your palette. Tweet me some of your favorite blends! @NathanBrugnone

HOLIDAY GIFT GUIDE The holiday season is here and if you haven’t started planning your holiday gifts, you really need to start now…especially if you are buying something for me. I prefer something in a 22, Extra Hoppy. Enough about me, let’s try to figure out what kind of gifts to give this season. First decide if you want to give the gift of beer or give the gift of a beer gift. Once you do that, then you can decide exactly how much you like the recipient and spend, I mean choose accordingly. Let’s start with the easy one. Beer is a great gift and there are so many ways to give it. The easiest, if not the cheapest, method is a Beer of the Month Club. These clubs will prepackage a couple of six-packs of a different beer every month and send it to your recipient. The advantage to this is your lucky person gets at least two different beers each month

from a variety of breweries. Prices start as little as $23 per month (you can usually choose the number of months) for basic craft beers and go upwards of $70 per month for a variety of international beers. A quick check of one of the less expensive clubs (www.beermonthclub.com) shows that for $23.95 (plus shipping and handling) you would be giving two beers from Lakefront Brewing Company and two beers from Lucky Bucket Brewing Company, three of each for a total of twelve. If you step up to the Rare Beer Club, you would be giving Grand Teton Bourbon Barrel Aged Black Cauldron and Scaldis Triple, three 750 milliliter bottles of each for just $69.95. Who knows what they might offer next month. A year’s worth of holiday giving would set you back just over $800. If that seems a little rich for your blood, how about trying some individual beers, maybe a gift basket for the beer geek in your life? Anyway, here are some suggestions for beers based off who you are buying for. Continued On Page 48

STONE 12 12 12, The Final Chapter BY “KING” JAMES SWANN

Hello again craft beer lovers, today let’s take a break from the bar reviews to discuss a very important beer coming here to Arizona this week. The Stone Brewing Company Vertical Epic 12 12 12. As many of you know, Stone adds a different brew to this collection every year with an eye on one gigantic vertical tasting. There are an odd number of beers in this collection, eleven to be exact beginning strangely enough with 2 2 2 and finishing at 12 12 12. Many friends of mine have actually managed to collect each year’s release and have patiently hoarded them waiting for the right time. The final chapter, the 12 12 12 was brewed with a Belgian yeast strain and contains hints of allspice, cinnamon, clove, ripe orange peel and nutmeg. Dark amber in colour with lots of caramel, toffee and molasses flavours, this warm holiday brew balances all those complexities with a large modicum of hop character, 50 IBUs to be exact and a stout 9% ABV! As always this is a very limited edition release so get out there and get it while you can. Regardless of how many editions you have managed to collect, the time to open and share this experience with friends is NOW. Eleven different beers aging for as much as eleven years all made to be tasted at one time. What a concept!

Check out where to enjoy and purchase these local Fox Cigar brands on “Beer Spy” at www.worldclassbeer.com AZWeeklyMagazine.com

I personally own every brew from 5 5 5 going forward so this weekend it’s on baby! Anyone care to join me? As always keep sending those comments and questions to kingjamesswann@gmail. com and don’t ever stop stockpiling those hard to find brews. You never know when an opportunity for a great vertical tasting will present itself! Until next week, cheers! December 13th, 2012 - December 19th, 2012

BEER! SECTION Buying for your boss? Impress him or her with a really high end beer. Bosteels Deus comes immediately to mind. This beer is fermented and then finished with champagne yeast and aged in the Champagne region of France just like the bubbly stuff made from grapes. The beer tastes wonderful and delicate and tickles your nose just like a sparkling wine. If you want something more manly, go for Scaldis Prestige. This vintage oakaged ale is a monster at 13% ABV. It is an intensely complex, balanced beer, Prestige is triple fermented, the final time in French oak for a minimum of six months. Every batch differs according to its rate of maturation. Deep caramel malt notes blend perfectly with the vanilla and tannin of the oak. There has never been a better marriage of wood and beer. If you want something even bolder, go for the Prestige de Nuits which is the Scaldis Noel beer aged in a burgundy barrel. The flavors that come out of that are even more amazing.

How about a friend who is a gourmet? Pick out an amazing food beer and watch the fun begin. Try a Belgian like TripelKarmeliet or Saison Dupont to really explore food flavors. Go safer with some nice American craft beer, perhaps Oskar Blues Old Chub, or Anderson Valley Boont Amber, maybe even something from the Sonoran Chef Series. Better yet, pick up The Brewmaster’s Table by Garrett Oliver of Brooklyn Brewing fame. It is the definitive book on food and beer. While we are on the topic of books

and Garrett Oliver, his latest book is out there. Tom Colicchio, co-founder of the Gramercy Tavern and recipient of five James Beard Foundation medals wrote the introduction to the book and gives perfect reason for buying this book as evidenced by this excerpt. The Oxford Companion to Beer provides and exhaustive account of not only beer’s history but its science and art at a time when people are more willing than ever to take beer seriously. And if I had to choose one person to be my beer guide and teacher, it would be Garrett Oliver, whose passion for beer is only surpassed by his sheer knowledge on the subject. In this volume, Oliver and numerous experts have assembled beer wisdom from around the globe, creating a virtual beer symposium – the scope of which the world has never known. And we, as readers have a front row seat. And did I mention, it’s almost 1,000 pages and has 166 different contributors. I already have my copy, but you can get one for less than $40 on Amazon or anywhere else fine books are sold. But back to beer. Do you have a dessert lover that you are buying for? Go for an interesting sweet beer. Left Hand Milk Stout makes a nice gift. The residual sugars from the lactose that is added leaves a pleasant sweetness and makes it perfect with chocolate or other sweets or even by itself. Breckenridge Vanilla Porter also works for dessert. The vanilla beans flown in from Madagascar and Papua New Guinea make this a

great fit with a crème brulee or on top of some ice cream. Looking for something on the fruity side, then go with Abita Purple Haze. Flavored with real raspberries, this wheat beer is a nice easy way to wind down a meal. For somebody who prefers a richer flavor after dinner, go for Old Rasputin Russian Imperial Stout from North Coast Brewing. Big and rich, it doesn’t need anything else to go with it, although chocolate is a nice accompaniment. I am also a fan of Barley Wines, so look for some Angels’ Share from The Lost Abbey. This beer comes aged in either bourbon or brandy barrels depending on the batch and drinks a little like a fine cognac. Finally, pick up a bottle of Redstone Vanilla Bean Cinnamon Stick Mead. This Boulder based meadery has been turning out some of the best honey wine (a close cousin to beer) for a while and makes some of the best available in the United States.

There are so many non-beer options to choose from. Get a nice glassware set with different styles of glasses to complement the different styles of beer. Look for a tulip, goblet, snifter, pint, mug (dimpled is my preference) and a large wheat beer glass to be prepared for almost any beer. Or get bar accessories from your recipient’s favorite brewery. Bar mats, towels, bottle openers all combine to make a great gift. While you are shopping at your favorite brewery, bring somebody home the gift of a T-shirt or some other apparel. If you know someone into bicycling, get them their very own brewery bike jersey.

If you really want to splurge for that special someone, pick a beer destination and plan a trip. You could go to San Diego, San Francisco, Portland, Denver, Philadelphia or head to Europe. Belgium is always appropriate and has so many great breweries. But look into Germany, The Netherland or the Czech Republic as well. And some people don’t know this but Italy has an exciting craft beer scene, so you can combine a little wine with the beer if that is your preference. No matter which way you go this holiday season, you can’t go wrong with beer or beer themed gifts. You know what they say, when all else fails, take the easy way out. I have just given it to you.
