Prodi-Gill Son Returns to Define Artist’s Worth

The MGM Movie Classic Comes To Life On Stage! THE RAIN N I ’ N I G N I S Scottsdale- ‘James Gill: The Return, an Arizona Debut’, presented by Peggy Lanning and Lanning Gallery, is a most unusual exhibition by this newlyreturned 60s pop artist. Years ago, Gill relinquished national notoriety as a Sao Paulo 9 artist, and inclusion in notable museum collections (such as The Smithsonian, the Whitney, the Museum of Modern Art, and the Art Institute of Chicago) to pursue a private, isolated life. Thirty-five years later, Gill has now chosen to return with a scheduled 22-city USA exhibition spanning 2008-2009, which Lanning Gallery will present beginning February 20th.

FEBRUARY 20 - APRIL 11

Make a splash with Singin’ in the Rain. Based on the classic 1952 MGM movie musical, it’s an all-singing, all-dancing extravaganza. The incredible score features “Lucky Star,” “Good Mornin’,” “Make ‘Em Laugh” and the showstopping title number, “Singin’ in the Rain,” complete with a live, on-stage rainstorm!

Given the correlation of Gill’s Scottsdale exhibition with current economic and global situations, the questions of value and the artist’s worth are quite timely. In public and private, Gill has always maintained values that influenced the content and imagery of his work, from the beginning of his career to modern times. Childhood and student days in Texas were followed with a brief term of military service in the Marines, which occasioned the young man’s first opportunity to speak up for himself and state his interest in art. Pursuit of a dream is the hallmark of youth, and the tempting allure of California prompted Gill to break away

Singin’ in the Rain

and head for the LA world of celebrity, where his paintings took on a life of their own, at the time documenting the glamour of vogue fashion, the beauty of the feminine, and his fascination with technology. Gill subsequently made a choice to live a more private life: He withdrew to the mountains bordering California and Oregon, thinking he could still be present to the art world from a distance. Thirty-five years later, Gill has chosen to return to the public. Timing is all, and it’s the good fortune of the art collecting public they have a chance to purchase original work of James Francis Gill at a fraction of the cost that his contemporaries from the Sao Paulo 9 (Rauschenberg, Oldenberg, Warhol, to mention a few) command today. What is the artist’s worth: to himself, to his collectors, to the museums, to his dealers, to his collectors? This is a moment of striking value to capture, to appreciate, to collect, as well as a time to celebrate the power of choice! The Lanning Gallery is located at 6105 N. Cattle Track in Scottsdale. Madea Goes to Jail opens this weekend, and features thespian Derek Luke in the role of Joshua. Some would say he’s on the fast track to becoming a star, an overnight success, or perhaps just lucky. I’ve paid special attention to Luke after we met in 2006 and talked about his starring role in the basketball docudrama, Glory Road. Since that film, he has starred in no less than six others with power names like Tom Cruise, Katie Holmes, Denzel Washington, and Meryl Streep. The wide range of roles in the movies Catch a Fire (2006), Lions for Lambs (2007), Definitely, Maybe (2008), Miracle at St. Anna (2008), and Notorious (2009), gives an indication of the wide acting range of Derek Luke. What’s the reason for this relatively sudden demonstration of Luke’s diverse acting skills? He answered this question when we talked again recently: “Every movie that I’ve been in is a part of a higher plan and a message,” he says. “It’s not just happenstance.” Read more of my interview with actor Derek Luke at www.azweeklymagazine.com or www. ScreenScene.org Madea Goes to Jail; starring Tyler Perry, Keshia Knight Pulliam, David Mann, Tamela J. Mann, RonReaco Lee, Ion Overman, Vanessa Ferlito, and Viola Davis. Written and directed by Tyler Perry; Lionsgate release; Rated PG-13 for mature thematic material, drug content, some violence and sexual situations; Runtime: 118 minutes.

Eleven Minutes opens this weekend. Chronicling the highs and lows of the fashion industry, this documentary follows fashion designer Jay McCarroll’s year-long journey as he prepares for his first independent runway fashion show in New York City and endeavors to sell his clothing line to stores. Some of you may remember that McCarroll was the final winner of the first season (’05) of the reality TV show, Project Runway. Model Heidi Klum hosts the show, where aspiring fashion designers compete for a chance to break into the industry. I asked Jay if the victory over other competitors gave his fashion design career the boost he thought it would? “Right after I won Project Runway, so many people were like, ‘Are you going to be a reality TV person or are you going to be a fashion designer?’” he says. “I find that they work off of each other. And unfortunately or fortunately, that’s the case.” The conversation with McCarroll was insightful and informative, and touched on his celebrity status and fashion career journey to present his first runway show. There’s more on this fascinating conversation at www.azweeklymagazine.com or www. ScreenScene.org Eleven Minutes; Regent Releasing release; Rated R for language; Runtime: 103 minutes. (230 words; photos are in the McCarroll/ Eleven folder)

This excellent film follows a teacher during a school year as he strives to help and instruct his raciallymixed students from a tough Paris neighborhood. The universal theme translates into any language and any country; although in a French school setting, the film provides global insight. The issues that teachers and students face, no matter what the country or class stature, can be resolved when finding common ground. I’m reminded of classic ‘Teacher-Student’ films like The Blackboard Jungle (1955) and Dangerous Minds (1995). Read my full review for The Class at www. azweeklymagazine.com or www. Sedona Film Festival: Red Rocks, Cool Temps, and Hot Films By Randy Montgomery Celebrating its 15th anniversary, the Sedona International Film Festival has entertained, delighted, and inspired nearly 70,000 film-goers over its history. The 2009 festival promises to do the same for the 7,000 expected attendees that will pack the Harkins Sedona 6, which is set amongst the famous red rocks that compose some of America’s more gripping natural beauty. The intimate setting of the multiplex adds to the event’s charm, where you will undoubtedly make friends when standing in line, waiting to experience the next film. Discussing what you have watched and asking for recommendations is usually the topic of conversation, as fellow patrons are always happy to share their emotional response. “Seeing the audience reactions to our films is always my favorite thing each year,” says executive Director Patrick Schweiss. “When we’ve presented something that really resonates with a group of people or really sparks

conversation or action, I feel we’ve done our job as a festival.” With nearly twelve dozen films hailing from 18 countries, which should you chose to see? You can look in the program guide, or pick at random. More than likely, you have not heard of most of the films being presented, but that’s half the fun. There’s a strong chance a selection you will see will end up at your local theatre months later. There’s also a good possibility that one (or several) may end up at those big awards ceremonies next year. Filmmakers use festivals to promote their work, and studio executives look to audience reaction when choosing which to pick up for distribution. Movies are only part of the experience at the Sedona International Film Festival. There are parties, workshops, and celebrity sightings. Past guests have included Ned Beatty, Lainie Kazan, and Nick Nolte, to name a few. This year, audiences will have the pleasure of meeting Doris Roberts (Everybody Loves Raymond, Grandma’s Boy, Christmas

I give my ‘Digital Dave Choice Award’ to this product, which is a little more expensive than the others, but isn’t the safety of your children worth it?! This is the top of the bunch, and it does a great job of filtering web sites and uses its huge database to categorize sites based on gambling, hate/violence, and pornography. It also has an indexer that will analyze a new site that hasn’t been logged into their database yet, so new sites won’t slip through the system. This software does it all and will manage the web filtering, game rating control, internet time schedule, illegal file sharing, and alert you of dangerous IM conversations. AUCTION With the nice weather we’re having, this is a good time to get a luxury convertible, like the Lexus SC-430. It has a hard metal top, but it retracts at the push of a button, allowing open-air driving. This contributes to a weight of almost two tons. Good thing it has a potent 4.3 liter V-8 engine. The interior is plush. This is no sports car, but the steering, handling, and braking are above average for a luxury machine. Trunk space is limited, and your bank account shouldn’t be, since these sell for $67,630. One word of warning: Some of these are shipped with run-flat tires. The advantage is you can drive on a flat for about 50 miles. The disadvantage is these tires don’t come with a spare. So, if the nearest town is farther away, you’re stuck. If it’s a three-day holiday weekend, you’re stranded! Also, these tires provide a horrible ride that’s out of place in a luxury car. I suggest standard tires. Either way, make sure you get a spare!

Cave Creek- Enjoy a spirited, gallery style evening on Saturday, February 21st, as Brix Wine Spot, located at Cave Creek’s StagecoachVillage, comes alive with a dynamic pairing of wine and art. Arizona artist Lance Headlee, whose works have attracted collectors worldwide, brings his bold and captivating contemporary paintings to the warm and rustic atmosphere of Brix beginning at 5pm. Headlee will hold a special showing of his latest works, including ‘Cowboy Caddy’ and ‘Tickled Pink’- along with the unveiling of a new BRIX piece titled ‘Wine & Roses’ at 7pm that will hang on permanent display. “Brix is the perfect place in Cave Creek to enjoy good company and great wine,” says Headlee. “I look forward to sharing my work here with owners Nancy and Bryan, along with the rest of the community.” Guests will enjoy fabulous wine and hors d’oeuvres while viewing the works of this nationally recognized artist’s never-ending palette of unique, unpredictable, formidable style. Visitors can also pick up a complimentary, signed limited edition print of ‘Bonnie & Clyde’. For more information, call (480) 575-9900 or visit www.brixwinespot.com and www.lanceheadlee.com.

Cut out processed foods - they have little or no nutritional value and wreak havoc on your digestive system. Your food should actually contain food, not chemicals! Eat at least one raw meal a day; raw foods have the most nutrients, flavor and benefits. By not cooking your food you will be eating live enzymes, living water, real vitamins, and minerals. Add nuts to one meal a day; nuts are an excellent source of protein and good fats. Almonds, Cashews, Macadamia, Pecans, Pine nuts, and Walnuts are super foods and will satisfy that crunchy ‘gotta have it now’ craving. Drink one glass of pure vegetable juice a day. Not the pasteurized kind bought in stores; all nutrients are depleted from them before they even get into your body. Your return on investment from buying a juicer is immeasurable!

If there were a “Golden Rule” for being a DJ, what would it be? Markus Schultz told me the key to being a successful DJ is to always be humble and respect others around you. People in this scene have huge egos and usually tend to forget the reason they got into DJing in the first place.

AKA Joshua James joshua@deviantdesignlab.com www.myspace.com/elwood Where and when do you spin? I have nights at Hanny’s downtown, AZ/88 in Scottsdale, and Prep School in Central Phoenix. I have also had the pleasure of spinning many parties with Jared Alan and William Reed (Faux Show/Adult Swim/Cheap Thrills/Shake!). How did you get started in the industry? I have been producing music for over five years. It seemed like a natural progression. Having an understanding of musical structure greatly enhances your ability to be a DJ.

Your favorite places to play? Glam (R.I.P) and Adult Swim. What would you be doing if you weren’t DJing? Promoting probably. I praise all those who have the dedication to keep this scene going. Bringing new music to the Valley is not always easy, and we owe a great deal of gratitude to those who are trying: Jared Alan, The Party Foul Crew, Stateside Productions, William Reed, Dumperfoo, and The Professional are just a few examples. Jennifer Deveroux is a Phoenix-based promoter who works extremely hard to find work and exposure for DJs and other local artists in Phoenix; she hooked me up with you guys for this profile!

The NBA All-Star Weekend was hot! Celebs, players and parties seemed to be at every turn, and there were very few “incidents” reported. We’ll run through a quick recap of some gossip and sightings plus some music festival and concert news and a restaurant review. For all that happened, is happening and will happen in the Valley, read on. Restaurant Review--Sens: My friend recently celebrated her birthday, and invited a bunch of us to dinner. I was really quite happy because-1) she was going to enjoy her birthday rather than bitch and whine and 2) she was going to celebrate downtown at Sens, an Asian tapas and sake bar. I haven’t been downtown in a while, and I almost forgot how much I loved the vibe. I was the first to arrive, so I had plenty of time to review the menu and chat it up with the friendly bartender. I went on a Friday between the end of happy hour and the beginning of the dinner crowd, so the DJ was setting up in the corner, but even he politely greeted me. The inside is small but open as they use curtains to partition spaces. The décor is modern Asian with cherry blossoms throughout, and a big Buddha greets guests at the door. I sat at the bar, which touts a varying cocktail, beer, and wine list, including over 60 sakes. I started off with a ginger cocktail, and sampled sake later. Besides, a multitude of sakes, Sens infuses many of its vodkas with garnishes, including a spicy Thai chili pepper vodka that would be an awesome in a bloody mary.

My party finally arrived, and we wasted no time ordering and sharing tapas, my favorites being the fried quail, and the flavorful Shu Mai, wasabi pork and shrimp dumplings. Surprisingly most of the menu items are between $6 to $10 which is cheap enough to let you try a lot of dishes. Open until midnight during the week and 2:30 a.m. on weekends, Sens offers a relaxing atmosphere to grab a cocktail after work, enjoy some late night noshing, or meet up with friends. Check Sens out at, www.sensake.com. Tempe Music Festival: The ultra popular Tempe Music Festival is getting closer so who is exactly performing? The event, set for April 3rd and 4th, is still adding acts and finalizing details, but we know that we’ll get to see Kid Rock, Roger Cline and the Peacemakers,

Cowboy Mouth, 3 Doors Down, Tom Morello: The Nightwatchman, and the All-American Rejects. I like that the festival is taking more of a band approach instead of hip-hop and pop idol line-up this year. After last year, we all heard a chorus of grumbling and I’m glad the organizers took note. I’m actually looking forward to this year’s festival, something I haven’t been able to say for the past couple of years. As it gets closer, we’ll have more details for you, but tickets are now on sale (for an early bird price of $25). For more information visit tempemusicfestival.com. NBA Parties and Seen: There was just SO much going on at the All-Star weekend that I’m going to do a 30,000 foot view of what I saw and people reported to me. Kobe Bryant and Cedric the Entertainer at Z-Tejas in Scottsdale Fashion Square. LeBron James and Jay-Z hosted “Two Kings Party” at the Phoenician where tons of celebs attended including John Legend, Chris Tucker and Spike Lee. Snoop Dogg had a party at Rain and people seen included ASU’s Terrell Suggs and Cuba Gooding Jr. Young NBA guns LeBron James and Dwayne Wade hosted “Tha Big One” at Myst where they partnered with designer Roberto Botticelli for a hot fashion show and party. Sunday Night was a final bash at Axis-Radius and celebs included Jermaine Dupri, Young Jeezy, Rick Ross, Busta Rhymes, Jim Jones, Juelz Santana and The Clipse. There were sighting of athletes and celebs at many restaurants, hotels and clubs; just too many to name. The NBA All Star game was a great event, and Phoenix, we were a great host. Can’t wait for the next one. Clapton and Winwood: I can’t believe this is happening, but Eric Clapton is hitting the road again, this time with Steve Winwood, and they’ll be making a Valley stop on June 26th at Jobbing.com Arena. Every time “slow-hand” comes around I think it will be his last time. I’ve had the privilege to see him a few times, and every show is amazing. With Winwood on board, this seems like another “can’t-miss.” I don’t see that tickets are on sale yet, but keep your eyes peeled. Night Owls on Twitter: Who’s on Twitter? Know a great restaurant, club, bar or event? Let me know and follow us (and see what we do) @bdiggs and @mindspazzer. Do it now and sign up. We talk about everything Phoenix. Be safe, be a good person. Till next time…

“Show me the money. . .” By Kevin Breger, Esq. www.TheAZCriminalLawyer.com

Francis B. Palmer created a last will and testament in which he set out that he would leave a small legacy to his daughters, and the rest of his estate, which was quite substantial, to his grandson, Elmer. Francis remarried and Elmer became worried. Elmer, who was only sixteen years old at the time, knew that he was due a large inheritance from his grandfather. He was concerned that since his grandfather had remarried, he would change his will and leave everything to his new wife instead of to Elmer. So Elmer murdered his grandfather. Elmer was subsequently convicted of the murder and the last will and testament was contested by Francis’s daughters. They were of the view that since Elmer killed their father- and he did so with the specific intent of benefiting- he should not get anything from the will. Elmer was of the view that the letter of the law is clear: the law specifically states how a last will and testament is to be created. The will in question provides that he should get his money regardless, and there is nothing in the law to contradict this. The above fact pattern and issues were real and emanate from the New York case of Riggs v. Palmer in 1889. One of the judges agreed with Elmer and pointed out that “…the matter does not lie within the domain of conscience. We are bound by the rigid rules of law, which have been established by the legislature, and within the limits of which the determination of this question is confined. The question we are dealing with is whether a testamentary disposition can be altered, or a will revoked, after the testator’s death,

through an appeal to the courts, when the legislature has by its enactments prescribed exactly when and how wills may be made, altered, and revoked, and apparently, as it seems to me, when they have been fully complied with, has left no room for the exercise of an equitable jurisdiction by courts over such matters.” Ultimately the court disagreed with Elmer and Justice Gray and ruled that he could not inherit. Justice Earl noted that, “It was the intention of the law-makers that the donees in a will should have the property given to them. But it never could have been their intention that a donee who murdered the testator to make the will operative should have any benefit under it.” Fortunately, Arizona law agrees and states that “[a] person who feloniously and intentionally kills the decedent forfeits all benefits under this chapter. . .”

Phoenix- It wasn’t Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O’Neal combining for Co-MVP awards via 5-hole giveand-go dunks, and it wasn’t the sizzle and flash and thumping pageantry of the NBA All-Star game that sent this lucky observer into uncontrollable fits of giggles and ‘I’m not worthy’ wonderment. It was Steve Smith and Charles Oakley chatting in the US Airways Center halls with Dominique Wilkins and Dikembe Mutombo; it was Bill Russell celebrating his 75th birthday; and it was Oscar Robertson sitting four seats down from me that set my hoops crazy heart a-flutter on this day. The gathering of NBA’s current elite last weekend for the 58th All-Star game also saw the gathering of NBA’s living legends, and though the no-look, high-flying, lights-out on-court display that resulted in a 146-117 Western Conference victory brought out plenty of ‘ooohs’ and ‘ahhs’, for a die-hard student of the round ball, it was the aging faces and legacies of old-school greatness that made the biggest impression. Just in case you didn’t read that right the first time: Oscar Robertson sat four seats down from me. He passed me a Bud Lite and my change. He touched my beer. He averaged a triple double in a season. Oscar Robertson touched my beer and my money. Now I can die happy.

‘09 Navy SEAL Fitness Challenge Coming to Phoenix

Tempe- The Navy SEAL Fitness Challenge, coming to the Valley on March 14th at ASU, consists of a 500-yard swim, push-ups, situps, pull-ups, and a 1.5-mile run. It is identical to the Navy SEAL Physical Screening test that SEAL candidates must pass in order to get into the rigorous training program. The event is free to enter, with pre-registration available through the web site, www. sealfitnesschallenge.com. Registration is free.

Queen + Paul Rodgers = ‘Nah’

SM

By Stephen Wilkinson

When one uses the name of their glory days and adds a new ingredient, they are bound to draw comparisons. This album is no exception. Having finally found a voice to lead the band back to the concert stage in recent years, Queen’s remaining members Brian May and Roger Taylor have enlisted world class vocalist Paul Rodgers to take over the vocal slot of the departed Freddie Mercury. You can at least have enough respect for them not enlisting a clone like other bands have (Journey, Judas Priest, etc.). However, something that Freddie brought to the band’s music was panache, style, and flavor. No offense to Rodgers, but what talents and abilities he brings to the table simply don’t do justice to the name Queen. The material, although decent and with stellar production, unfortunately is nothing that compares to the band’s back catalogue. The cover art and font choice for the band’s name sum it up…nothing special. Admittedly, I am a fan of both Queen and Rodgers, but I’m calling it as I see it. Rockzone Records 1721 E. team up with other musicians, form a band, and prepare for a live concert to show off their new skills. The next session of camp will run from March 6th through the 8th at Scottsdale Studios, 9445 E Doubletree Ranch Rd. in Scottsdale. The weekend includes several hours of small group instruction, coached rehearsals, master classes, and live concert performances with world-renowned musicians. Students also learn other aspects of being in a band, such as songwriting, audio recording, and the music business. At the end of the three-day rock experience, the student bands perform a live concert for parents, faculty, and peers. Included in the $299 tuition, participants receive a DVD recording of the three-day event and the final concert. Special guests include Bill “The Buddha” Dickens who has performed with Victor Wooten, Mary J. Blige, Chaka Khan, George Michael, Grover Washington, and Janet Jackson. Rock Boot Camp also features Neil Zaza, virtuoso guitarist and composer who has shared the stage with Steve Vai and Joe Satriani; and Bobby Rock who played drums for Gary Hoey, Carnival of Souls, Vinnie Vincent Invasion, Neal Schon, and many others. The High Rollers

Band Members Joe Booth Bobby Joe Bad Andy Ulibarri

Instruments Guitar, Lead Locals Upright Bass, Vocals Drums www.myspace.com/thehighrollersaz

Why did this band get started? We originally started the band because we were all sick of hearing nothing but Classic Rock Cover bands in our hometown of Prescott. It obviously has progressed more than we ever though it would!!

Who is the craziest band member and why? Bad Andy for sure. We have traveled 100,000 miles in our ten years as a band and he has put at least ten years extra on our life. He is the only dependable drummer we know of though.

What’s the most difficult aspect of trying to make it in this biz? Maintaining focus and not getting frustrated. We’re a band from a small town and often don’t get taken seriously. Oh…and getting on FM radio!

Do you play cover tunes or originals? We mainly play originals and throw in a few covers here or there. We grew up having to play four 45 minute sets so we can play over 60 songs.

What do you do different that kicks ass over other bands? We are REAL! We put our soul into what we do! Well, that and the fact we have managed to stay a band for over ten years.

What will people see when you perform live? A high-energy band that will probably drink you under the table!! The High Rollers entertain people, and we love what we do!

How would you describe your style of music? Rocka-Psycho-Punk-Country…abilly!! Are you any good? We’re the best band in the world…in our opinion!! We invite everyone to come out and see us perform and make there own decision. Name one thing that you hope to accomplish during your musical career. We all hope to make the band our career sometime soon. How often do you perform live? We have played 50-100 shows a year for the last 10 years with an average of about 85 here in the last few years. It all depends on how long our tour is every year.

36

What’s the funniest thing that ever happened while performing? One night we had a cross-dresser dancing at one of our shows. Two of us saw the adams apple, one of us didn’t. We’ll leave it at that… February 19th - February 25th, 2009

Who gets the most Groupies and why? Bobby Joe gets the most groupies because he is the only person in the band that is married. People always want what they can’t have! He has good hair too! Tell us a secret about the band: Joe is a secret government biological weapon of massdestruction! What advice would you give a startup band? Don’t give up. Very rarely does a band make it big in the first few years. It takes a lot of hard work. Overnight sensations don’t come around that often, and are usually gone as fast as they’ve come! What’s the biggest misconception people have about musicians? That all musicians are cocky! We’ve played with a lot of other musicians and have found that generally the people in the good bands are real people. The others give us a bad name.

AZWeeklyMagazine.com

Got any CDs out that we might buy? We have 3 CDs. Our first is self titled, Hungover is the 2nd and the latest is titled Locked, Loaded, and Long Gone. We are currently writing material for our fourth CD which should be out by the end of the year. Where can folks find your CD’s or music? You can go to www.highrollersaz.com and order CDs through our site or download the albums on either iTunes or Amazon mp3. Where can we come see you perform? Our next shows are: February 20th we’ll be at the Yucca Tap Room in Tempe and we’ll be rocking it at 10pm. The 25th we’ll be playing at 8pm at Sundance’s in Prescott and the 27th we’ll be in Tucson at the The Surly Wench Pub at 10pm. We’ve got a lot more shows coming up and you can always check out show listing at www.highrollersaz. com.

The 15th Annual Northwest Black History Committee (NBHC) Community Cultural Awareness Music Festival kicks off February 27th and runs through March 1st at the Peoria Municipal Complex (83rd Avenue and Cinnabar, between Peoria and Olive). This event features family style entertainment and many live performances by artists such as Greg Kelly Foundation, Tommy Dukes, Gregg Austin & Second Wind, Big Pete Pearson, Masquerade, Royce Murray, Chris, “Doc” Stewart, Michael Powers and many more! A virtuoso in both acoustic an electric guitar, Michael Powers is an accomplished Seattle, Washington jazz musician. He has impressive credentials playing in Europe with the likes of George Benson, where he was deemed a “ferocious musical crocodile.” Since February is Black History Month, and for fifteen years the NBHC has provided and earned the number one ranking for the best event in addition to attracting exceptional entertainment, Powers is a must see treat for fans of jazz and blues. True to the core values of the NBHC, the event will be showing positive images and educating attendees about the vast importance of accomplishment and contributions of African Americans. Please visit www. aznbhc.org, or call (623) 204-0959.

Plan & Save When Renting Moving Truck By Diane Schmidt, About.com

When planning to relocate, you must determine how far you’re moving and what size of truck you need. Some rental agencies will charge a flat daily rate, including a determined amount of miles, while others will charge an inclusive rate. Know your mileage and size of truck you’ll need before you start your research so you can shop around and compare prices. Remember, your truck should be large enough to accommodate 10-15% more than what you own. This is just to ensure you’re going to have enough room. Too much room is better than too little.

Do you have old, broken, unwanted gold? T E G FAST CASH

FOR YOUR GOLD! 1. 2.

It’s also a good idea to determine how long you’ll need the truck (how many days), when you want to pick it up, and whether it’s a one-way or two-way move. Many companies charge a premium price for one-way moves; this is to cover the cost or retrieving the truck. Call at least 5 rental agencies to find the one that works for you. Remember that the cheapest agency isn’t necessarily the best one for your move. Ask the company what is included in the price and if there are any discounts available depending on when you move. Saving money can sometimes be determined by when you move. And you never know until you ask! After deciding which company to use, go online or phone the agency at least two weeks before the move to reserve the truck. If you’re moving in high season (June 15th to September 1st), try to book sooner rather than later. High season means higher prices and more demand. Also, this is the time to book any additional tools you may need. This may include an extra trailer or towing equipment or moving dolly.
