Actors Theatre at the Herberger Theatre Center in

Could there be a cure for Cancer? What if you discovered the cure for Cancer? This is the premise for Actors Theatre’s production of SECRET ORDER now playing at Stage West in the Herberger Theatre Center. Playwright Bob Clyman has fashioned an edgy story of power and intrigue into a subject that has affected virtually every person walking the streets of America. But there’s more to this picture than just DNA. There’s research, and money, and tumors to trick, and R Cells, and Pfizer and Merck, not to mention fraud. Director Matt Wiener has put this tricky story, with a disease no one believes will ever be cured, into a lively and dramatic dogfight between the forces of truth and deception. Starring as William Shumway, our sincere researcher on a mission to find the cure is Cale Epps. Cale is focused and caring as the man who would be king of the protocols. Keeping his story valuable is Mark DeMichele, as the corporate spin doctor Robert Brock. Mark is polished and concerned for the right reasons until Alice Curiton, played by Jessica Weaver, arrives to stimulate the research ideas. Add in a well versed Dr. Saul Roth, played by David Vining, and you have the perfect dramalies et all. For tickets 602-252-8497 or actorstheatrephx.org Through March 21st. THE LARAMIE PROJECT Phoenix Theatre, Greasepaint Youtheatre & QSpeak Greasepaint Youtheatre in collaboration with Q Speak, presented the THE LARAMIE PROJECT this past weekend at the Stagebrush Theatre in Scottsdale. Originally developed by Moises Kaufman and members of the Tectonic Theater Project, this dramatic presentation recounts the events and people of Laramie Wyoming, after the November 1998 hate crime murder of Matthew Sheppard, a young gay man who had moved to Laramie. Director Maren Maclean Mascarelli created a strong and revealing production using this hate crime history as a teaching tool to understand the emotions of fear and hate, while embracing the hope of acceptance for all of humanity. But this production shines with the passion and focus of fourteen talented young cast members. They captured the feelings and moments of this tragic story from Laramie like wise veterans. Bravo to Annissa, Aurora, Brianna, Charlie, Danny, Rylie, Isaiah, Emily, Nick, Tyler, Maggie, Paul, Liz and Nik, for a heartfelt and impressive display of dramatic theatre. We can look forward to more great performances from this company of actors in the coming months and years. COMING this week…MARTHA GRAHAM, at Scottsdale Center for the Arts, Friday and Saturday March 19 and 20th : BALLET FOLKLORICO DE MEXICO, at Mesa Arts Center, Saturday March 20th: THE DUTTONS, at Broadway Palm Dinner Theatre in Mesa, March 15,16,22,29,30: BREAK A LEG!

A bright young scientist, Dr. William Shumway, is on the verge of the most sought-after discovery in medical research today, the cure for cancer. Recruited by a prestigious New York research institution, Shumway finds himself in over his head with pharmaceutical companies, The New England Journal of Medicine, and even the Nobel committee demanding results that he is not ready to share. When his white mice start having trouble, he has to solve the problem before anyone notices or before he has to admit that his theory may be wrong. What unravels is a scientific and moral quandary which tests the will, desire and integrity of all involved. Playwright Bob Clyman crafts a suspenseful bio-medical psychological thriller which leaves the audience questioning how far people should go to alter the landscape of science and improve human life.

John Corbett presented by Harold’s Corral March 18, 2010 Thursday 6:30pm Known for taking country music’s earthy emotionalism and giving it a rowdy, rocking kick, The John Corbett Band had such a great time performing at Harold’s in July of last year, they were excited for another chance to entertain an appreciative, fun crowd of fans. Corbett has always brought an easy grace to his roles, whether in the acclaimed TV series Sex and the City and Northern Exposure or in the hit films My Big Fat Greek Wedding and Raising Helen. His music carries the same natural, down-to-earth spirit.

Sweet Charity presented by Tempe Little Theatre Tempe Center for the Arts March 19 – April 4, 2010 Thursday (4/1) 7pm Friday 8pm Saturday 2pm & 8pm Sunday 2pm Have you ever known ‘that girl’ who wanted something so badly, that she tried too hard to get it? Meet little Miss Charity. She is the girl who wants that idea of something so much, that she has lost sight of who she truly is, and it costs her. Charity makes her way through several changes, and chances at romance; but does she find love? Sweet Charity is many things. It’s a colorful, somewhat dark, and fascinating musical comedy; a show with memorable musical numbers, (‘Big Spender,’ ‘If My Friends Could See Me Now’), as well as a thoughtful script by Neil Simon. The production which faces the ultimate question -- What happens when we don’t get what we want? What would you do?

Cursed by the goddess Aphrodite, Phaedre, the dying queen of Athens, falls in love with her stepson, Hippolytus. Her love grows into a dangerously passionate obsession that will destroy fathers, sons and kingdoms with its fury. One of the most enduring and powerful stories of classical mythology, this production of Phaedre will switch between classical and modern language, and between ancient and modern eras. An obsessive love story recalling the poetry of Euripides and the violent energy of Fatal Attraction. Important Information: Phaedre is intended for mature audiences, containing adult themes and language, sexuality and nudity.

the exploitation gets them noticed. With Joan Jett (Kristen Stewart) and Cherie Currie (Dakota Fanning) fronting the band, they ultimately succeed on their own merits as musicians. Of course, history tells us that they become the first all-girl rock-band to break into the world of arena-filled hard rock acts and set the tone for many female ‘rockers’ to follow. Dynamic performances by Kristen Stewart (of the ‘Twilight’ movies) as Joan Jett and Dakota Fanning (also in the upcoming ‘The Twilight Saga: Eclipse’ later this year) as Cherie Currie, deliver powerful portrayals that reminds us the path of striving to make our dreams become a reality, will take every ounce of courage to survive… Starring Kristen Stewart, Dakota Fanning, Michael Shannon, Stella Maeve, Scout Taylor-Compton, and Alia Shawkat.

“The Runaways”, a sterling portrait of the first female ‘Rock & Roll’ band… Movie review by Stan Robinson For a lot of us ‘boomers’ of the 60’s and 70’s, the story of Joan Jett and ‘Rock & Roll’ holds fond memories. For us, there were a lot of ‘firsts’, including the first moon landing. Music is a prominent factor for ‘firsts’. Every time I hear the tunes “I Love Rock & Roll” and “Crimson and Clover”, made household sounds by Joan Jett in 80’s, are reminders of the forceful, creative progress of individuality. The movie “The Runaways” captures that time when history was being made all around us… “The Runaways” is based on leadsinger Cherie Currie’s (an original member of the band) book, ‘Neon Angel’, which chronicles her experiences as a rock star. The years from 1975 – 1977 are highlighted as teenage girls, living near Hollywood, CA, form the band. With a strong PR sell by their manager Kim Fowley (Michael Shannon) as ‘jailbait rock’ since all the girls were 16 or younger,

“Creation” This is the story of English naturalist Charles Darwin and his masterwork

“The Origin of Species”. Darwin (Paul Bettany) struggles to find a balance between his revolutionary theories on evolution and the relationship with his religious wife (Jennifer Connelly), whose faith contradicts his work. Crushed by the loss of his eldest daughter, he formulates the controversial theory, often in conflict with religious dogma, his passionate marriage torn apart by the most dangerous idea in history; and a theory saved from extinction by the logic of a child. Starring Paul Bettany, Jennifer Connelly, Jeremy Northam, Toby Jones, Jim Carter, and Benedict Cumberbatch. Directed by Jon Amiel. Written by John Collee. Newmarket Films release. Rated PG-13 for some intense thematic material. Runtime: 108 minutes.

Caught between his disgust for the war, and the responsibility for his fighter wing, von Richthofen sets out to fly once again. Starring Matthias Schweighöfer, Maxim Mehmet, Hanno Koffler, Til Schweiger, Richard Krajco, and Joseph Fiennes. Written and Directed by Nikolai Müllerschön. Monterey Media release. Humidor for the Frugal Traveler OK, you’re traveling and you don’t want to lug your $250 humidor around the airport. The best alternative for the frugal cigar smoker is a common Tupperware container with a slice of cedar wood inside to give the stogies a humidor-like taste. Place a moisture device (humidifying sponge, etc.), inside and poke a hole in the lid to let the excess moisture out or you will have moldy cigars in no time. Of course, while this will work, we don’t recommend bringing your handy little “Tuppidor” to the next country club gathering or cigar tasting. You might just want to make that your little secret.

CIGARS Full Cigar Lounge • Huge Cigar Selection • Large Walk-In Humidor • Eight beers on tap and over fifty bottles. • Chess, Checkers • Humidors Torches Cutters • Gift Cards Available

Women in Beer – Part 1 by Chuck Noll

of the Pharohs of Egypt, women brewed in a part of the kitchen called “the pure”. The beer produced was called “Hekt” and was exported throughout the world. Through the times of Christ and beyond, women continued to brew beer. As recently as the 13th century, only 8 percent of the brewers in England were men. The women would brew in their home and put a broom handle over their door to show that they had extra beer for sale. Native African women would also put this “ale-stake” out to indicate beer was available,

Ninkasi…ever hear of her? Probably not, but she might very well be the first brewer, or in this case brewster, as females who brew are known. Ninkasi is an ancient Sumerian Goddess, and her purview is beer. She brewed daily and supposedly produced some very fine beer, although there were no beer judges around back then, so who knows. In 1989, the ancient Sumerian style of beer was reproduced faithfully and was much different than the beer we know. Made with bread, additional malt, honey and dates, and without use of any hops or other bittering agents, it was very sweet. The beer was so thick with impurities that some method needed to be developed to get the liquid through the sludge. The drinking straw is another invention that occurred because of beer. The point is that women have been involved in brewing for centuries, and in some instances have taken the lead role in brewing.

Women from the time of Ninkasi on have always been actively involved in all aspects of the brewing process. In South America, in the Amazon Rain Forest, women still chew cereal grain to introduce the enzyme ptyalin, spitting the chewed “mash” into buckets where the ptyalin begins the fermentation process. For early mankind this beer was a valuable dietary staple, a source of protein and vitamins. The tradition has continued and only women chew the grain to produce this unique beer. During the times

except theirs was decorated with fresh vines and flowers. Throughout Medieval Europe, women continued to play a large role in brewing, although in an act of chauvinism, they could only hold a license in their husband’s name. It was during these times that Saint Brigid through prayer and faith supposedly changed bath water into beer for the benefit of a colony of thirsty lepers. In the American colonies, women continued their brewing prowess, Continued on Page 26...

Interview with Larry Bell Larry Bell, founder of Bell’s Brewery was recently in Phoenix to take in some Spring Training baseball games and enjoy the beauty of our area. Along the way, he brought us some cases and kegs of his spectacular Batch 9000 Ale and introduced it to a great audience at Papago Brewing. On our word of honor, we did our best to get time to interview Larry, but the crowds clamoring for him were too impatient, so instead we offer some insights into the evening and the man. Larry Bell started a homebrew supply shop in 1983. By 1985 they were brewing and selling beer and are now the oldest brewery east of Boulder, Colorado. They are the

thirteenth largest craft brewer in the country and the number three best selling brewery in his home market. To interpret that, rarely does a local brewer eclipse sales figures of one of the three large national breweries, but Bell’s does just that. Anyhow, Larry Bell showed up at Papago after coming from a twelve mile hike and looking in need of refreshment. He immediately ordered an Oberon, since Arizona is one of only two states where the beer is available year round. The first group of Michiganders approached him to tell him how much they loved his beer. Larry was gracious and chatted with each one of them before making his way to a seat near the bar. This would become the recurring theme

learning to brew with what was available to them. Corn, pumpkins, artichokes, oats, wheat, honey, and molasses were all part of these early brews. In the late 18th century, as brewing became more commercial, it moved out of the home and women started to fade from the brewing scene. When homebrewing returned in the late 1970’s, so did women brewers. As craft beer started to take off the following decade, women brewers and brewery owners were right there as well. Today there are literally hundreds, if not thousands of women in the brewing industry. Kim Jordan of New Belgium may be one of the best known of these women in brewing. New Belgium, in fact, has a strong feminine presence throughout their company. Lauren Salazar is their sensory expert and their staff is brimming with other women in key positions, especially the Beer Rangers, who are responsible for representing the brand throughout their territories. In Arizona, three of the five Beer Rangers are ladies. Lost Coast Brewing was one of the first breweries founded by women today. Barbara Groom still runs the business and keeps a close eye on things. Denise Jones at Moylan’s is another well known brewster, along with Molly Browning at Jolly Pumpkin. In Europe, women are also starting to reclaim their brewing roles. Hildegard van Ostaden, who along with her husband Bas owns Urthel Brewery, is one of the only brewsters in Belgium. Have women made a difference in the industry? Absolutely. Teri Fahrendorf, brewer at Steelhead and Bulldog in Eugene, OR, was one of the groundbreakers. Initially, men were concerned about her ability to do the heavy physical work required in brewing. She showed them that the job could get done by working smarter, using brains not brawn. Result? The male brewers she supervises work smarter too, and sustain fewer back injuries. Fahrendorf was also instrumental in founding The Pink Boot Society, so named for the boots that the brewers wear, consists solely of women in the industry and now numbers in excess

of 300 ladies. The group is dedicated to supporting women in all aspects of the brewing industry. Locally, women are also making an impact. Leah Huss of Papago Brewing is one of the local women in brewing, and is also considered by many to be one of the most knowledgeable beer people in the state. She supervises the massive amounts of great beer that flow in and out of the restaurant. Lori Eccles owns and operates Sun Devil Liquors, long considered one of the best locations for beer in Arizona. Key buyers for AJ’s Fine Foods, Whole Foods, Sunflower Markets and BevMo are female as well. They help to keep the state stocked with great beer. Surely nobody can deny the impact of women on brewing throughout history, but what about the ladies on the other side of the bar? Next week we will look at women consumers of beer and their involvement in the growing craft beer movement.

of the night as almost everybody in the bar seemed to be from Michigan and all had experiences with Bell’s that they remembered fondly. Larry shared memories as well, frequently talking about favorite bars or fishing holes in whatever hometown his conversation partner might have been from. It truly seemed as if Larry knew everybody and every place in that state. Larry also was keenly interested in the local homebrewers, as he spent a good bit of time speaking with several of them. A very personable man, Larry would have had a 30 minute conversation with everyone waiting to speak with him if time had permitted. As the line to speak with him came and went, and drawings were held for the giveaways, there was never a chance to grab even five minutes with him for an interview. He was simply too busy speaking with people who buy his beer and support his business. In the long run, maybe that says more about Larry Bell than an interview ever could.

WRESTLEMANIA SET TO INVADE THE VALLEY OF THE SUN University of Phoenix Stadium to Host WrestleMania XXVI World Wrestling Entertainment’s WrestleMania, the “Super Bowl of pro wrestling,” will bring its highflying athletes and earth-shaking pyrotechnics to University of Phoenix Stadium on March 28, 2010. WrestleMania is historically a fan favorite. The spectacle attracted more than 80,000 fans to Detroit’s Ford Field in 2007, and nearly 75,000 to Orlando’s Citrus Bowl in 2008. University of Phoenix Stadium, in Glendale, is expected to seat at least 65,000 for WrestleMania XXVI. World Wrestling Entertainment is the latest organization to choose Greater Phoenix as the site of its signature fan event. The National Football League selected University of Phoenix Stadium as the site of the Super Bowl in February 2008, and the National Basketball Association held its 2009 All-Star Game at US Airways Center in February 2009. The WrestleMania Kickoff Party at Westgate City Center in Glendale takes place March 19, 2010 from 6-10 p.m. and will include Superstar and Diva appearances, autograph signings, live entertainment, prizes, face painting, and a chance to win floor-seat tickets to the March 28 WrestleMania event. Westgate will be showing SmackDown on its 30-by-50-foot Plaza LED screen (the LAST televised WWE event before to the self-proclaimed Super Bowl of professional wrestling). Admission to this event is free.

Match Preview: Unified Tag Team Champions Big Show & The Miz vs. John Morrison & R-Truth Unified Tag Team Champion Big Show & The Miz vs. John Morrison & R-Truth - Unified Tag Team Championship Match March 28, 2010 In a match that will pit the immovable and the awesome against the fast and the furious, John Morrison & R-Truth will challenge Unified Tag Team Champions Big Show & The Miz at WrestleMania. Shortly after United States Champion The Miz joined forces with The World’s Largest Athlete, the impressive duo overcame D-Generation X to capture the illustrious Tag Team Titles. Retaining the championships in hard-fought defenses against both Michaels & Triple H and Mark Henry & MVP on Money Night Raw, the dominant mixture of power and resourcefulness turned its attention to Friday nights in search of new competition. Knowing that he could seek tag team contenders on any WWE show he wished, outspoken Unified Tag Team Champ The Miz arrived on SmackDown to mark his territory. SmackDown General Manager Theodore Long’s response would be swift, resulting in a Triple Threat Tag Team Match the following week to see

THE MIZ MEANS BIZ’NESS - Current WWE United States Champion ‘THE MIZ’ will be on hand doing what he does best at WrestleMania XXVI, being just plain awesome. WWE Unified Tag Team Champions THE MIZ and Big Show will be defending their belts at WrestleMania XXVI against worthy opponents John Morrison and R-Truth in what is slated to be one of the most electric tag team showdowns in WWE history. THE MIZ is widely known for having appeared on multiple reality TV shows, particularly The Real World on Mtv, before becoming a fullfledged WWE Superstar. MIZ brings a larger than life persona and uncanny levels of energy, ambition and drive to the ring each and every night out. What makes him tick? Victory, plain and simple. If MIZ has his way, his name and face will embody all that is WWE wrestling to fans all around the world in the very near future. There’s no quit in this one. And whatever you do, don’t blink. You never know what tricks he may have up his sleeve next.

just who would face the “Awesome One” and his enormous partner at WrestleMania. When the smoke cleared in the brutal tag team showdown one week later, the electric combination of Morrison & Truth stood triumphant; overcoming both Cryme Tyme and The Hart Dynasty to become No. 1 Contenders to Show-Miz’s much sought-after throne. The collective high-octane force of two of WWE’s most explosively dynamic Superstars will serve as a tremendous threat to the reigning champions. Just one year after the Tag Team Championships were fused together, the fate of the coveted titles will once again be decided on The Grandest Stage of Them All. Find out who will claim unified glory at WrestleMania, March 28 in Glendale, AZ.

Last week I had the pleasure of going to a few new places I had not ventured to before. I also saw Avatar before it left the Imax… and I cried. That’s right... and I’m man enough to admit that. On the prior note, I want to know where YOU are going! There are so many spots here and I know some are just word of mouth. So come on, spit it out! Sharing is caring people. Email me your FAVORITE BARS/ CAFES/WHATEVER I need to go to at nightowl@azweeklymagazine.com! The Lost Leaf I heard about this place randomly, as in I listened into someone else’s conversation. *Ahem.* As I went off on a search to find it downtown I got distracted by a vegan donut sign and got lost- ironic? Little did I know that the little house across the street was not an artsy house party but The Lost Leaf itself. Why had no one thought of this prior I do not know. Walking in was like walking into a house party where you don’t know anyone, but there is a live band so you can just pretend you came there for the music. It’s a small place with brick walls lined with local art. The lit up bar holds over 120 international beers, ciders and wines. YUM. And all at great prices! Come here with a group of your friends or make some new ones after that familiar buzz kicks in. After all there’s no attitude here. I was there Wed. night and for some reason everyone had beards. Needless to say I felt left out. The vibe was chill but the rock band made sure it was kept alive and going. Sunday night is jazz night and I’ll be back to check out what sort of atmosphere it brings in. The Lost Leaf is open 7 nights a week with live music every night! Now that’s admirable. www.thelostleaf.org

The ClubHouse Music Venue Last Friday was my first time venturing in. Why have I never been here before? Oh yeah cause there’s no corporate advertising selling itself out. This place is underground with some of the best local and national touring bands making their way through. Like any rock venue worthy to call itself one, the interior is open, dark, and beckoning. Black paint covers the walls leading to good size stage at the end of the room. Well, if you can call it a “room” …it fits 600people! The band that Friday night was rock/ reggae performing shirtless against the red and green stage lights - how very festive. Right under the stage you have your chance to get out your 9 to 5 rage in the mosh-pit. Luckily for me and my vodka/cran, it wasn’t a heavy metal band. A huge bar divides the room with 21 and over to the back where there’s space to kick it and enjoy the show if you’re more on the chill side or if you have a stagediving phobia. However, finish your drink and make your way back up to the front to catch the show front row. An average of 5 bands play per night leading up to the headlining band. This gives you time to chat up your friends, hit on some people and then go rock out with your non-conformism out. And yes I have realized my quotes are really cool sometimes. Check out their website for some cool upcoming shows from Copeland, Smile Empty Soul and Story of the Year. www. clubhousemusicvenue.com

It will work like this; once fans purchase tickets online they will receive an email with codes entitling them to download two tracks from Mojo (“First Flash Of Freedom” and “Good Enough.”) Then, on the release date of the album, currently slated for this spring, ticket buyers will be sent a download of the entire album. Also included with every online ticket purchase, to be delivered at the end of the 2010 tour, will be a selection of live tracks recorded during the tour. Mojo is a fiery statement from a band that is making some of their most exciting music over three decades into their career. “Good Enough” from the new album is now available for streaming at the revamped TOMPETTY.com. Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2002, their first year of eligibility, and in recent years have continued to build on their already legendary success. out 2008 tour was the biggest of their career and came right after the band’s acclaimed Super Bowl XLII halftime performance with a worldwide audience of nearly a billion people. The 2009 release of Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers’ career spanning Live Anthology garnered glowing reviews including a rave four and a half stars from Rolling Stone. The 2007 release of the Peter Bogdanovichdirected documentary Runnin’ Down A Dream earned a Grammy award and established the Heartbreakers’ story as a striking embodiment of the more rocking side of the classic rock genre. With the countless great rock songs each band will be performing this is going to be a guitars-a-blazin’ good time had by all. STYX is a band that one of our best known songs is about the blue collar man in the unemployment line and we totally identify with the average hard working people that are facing difficult economic times. We want to say thank you with affordable tickets for you and your family,” said James “JY” Young of Styx. “Super line up, amazing songs, can’t wait, let’s rock,” said Foreigner’s Mick Jones. BONE THUGS-NHARMONY NATIONAL TOUR “UNI5: THE WORLD’S ENEMY” REUNION ALBUM OUT APRIL 27

Grammy Award winning hip-hop group Bone Thugs-N-Harmony will launch a 34-city U.S. tour this spring in support of their longawaited reunion album entitled Uni5: The World’s Enemy set for an April 27 release on BTNH Worldwide/Asylum/Warner Bros. Records. Krayzie, Wish, Layzie and Flesh-N-Bone will kick off the tour on March 24 in Minneapolis, MN and wrap-up in Phoenix, AZ on May 2 at the Celebrity Theatre. The album is a 15-year reunion that chronicles the unity and adversity issues that have rifled the group’s successful, often turbulent career while opening up a broader discussion on how these same

themes manifest themselves in society. “You go through things to make you stronger,” Layzie says. “All your obstacles, all the things you go through that don’t seem positive at that particular time are only to get you ready for your next phase of life.” With more than 30 million albums sold worldwide and a very active (almost cult-like) loyal fan base, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony have become one of the most popular hip-hop groups in the genre’s history. The recipients of numerous awards and accolades, the Bone Thugs are also the only artists or group to collaborate with icons Eazy-E, 2Pac, Big Pun and the Notorious B.I.G. while they were still alive. These Midwest franchise players, most revered for popularizing staccato rhymes with melodic vocals, have influenced the cadence and delivery of many of today’s MCs. Tickets for the tour are now available on www. ticketmaster.com.

LOOK! SECTION

The Man’s Guide to Dressing Sharp and Turning Heads

By The Feisty Fashionista Spring is right around the corner and with it brings an onslaught of new fashion trends. Bold, brightly colored ties should be on your radar. It’s what’s hot for Spring and a must have for the hip guy who is in the know. If you are conservative this is your chance to step outside of that box ever so slightly and instead of your boring basic tie paired with your solid color shirt and trousers you can punch things up a notch by adding a blast of color to your look with a tie that demands attention. If you are a cutting edge fashionista you can pair that bold tie with another hot new look this Spring; paisley. Yes, paisley. If you are not feeling the paisley, try it anyway. Why? You’ll look cool and if nothing else your paisley shirt will be a conversation starter which, if you are single, is never a bad thing.

There is another trend I feel I must warn you about. Note, I am not endorsing this one. It showed up in London on the catwalk of major designers recently and I am here to say I hope it stays there. You might, and I cringe as I write this, see guys in casual suits with their trousers cuffed several times over in an attempt to mimic the clam digger look. I kid you not. It is suppose to be a loose cuff and rolled just enough so that only a bit of the sock shows as one is walking. I am reporting it as a fashion “Don’t”. Please DON’T go there. Married or single you will not score any points with this look. Yes, I want you to turn heads but only because you look sharp and emit an air of sophistication. Also, watch out for the color yellow to show up randomly in an otherwise dark look. And now for some quick tips: 1) Square- toed dress shoes are out, round is now the look. 2) Ditch the box pleated dress shirt it makes you look like a hunch back. Choose side pleat or no pleat instead.

Look for next week column when I will discuss trousers and what you should do concerning pleats thereof and what is the best material for our

3) Match your socks to the color of your trousers not your shoes. A shade darker is OK. 4) If vertically challenged DO NOT cuff your trousers- the effect shortens ones overall appearance. 5) If not vertically challenged DO NOT cuff your trousers- why not play up your assets?
