Real Cittadella Renovation (ME, Sicily)
Restoration and renovation project hypothesis of the Real Cittadella of Messina. The decay of the historic military fort led to the almost total abandonment of the area, now used only for rail transit and port discharge. After an accurate anamnesis and a careful analysis of materials, surface conditions and the crack pattern we could come to the drafting of a masterplan. The design strategy is based on three main guidelines: - "Save" the existing; - Increase the value of the traces of what was completely destroyed; - Create paths on the trail of the historical ones and assign functions in order to give new life to the Cittadella. 08

Private residence and block restyling Marzamemi (SR, Sicily) Marzamemi is a beautiful village on the sea, full of tourists in summer. The project is located in a central area, very busy in summer, enjoying the beautiful sea view from one side, and an overlook of a bog on the other, full of rare animal species. The project involves the construction of some commercial spaces on the ground floors, a single family residence and a small open-air space connecting symbolically the sea to the bog. This concept is reinforced by the presence of a stretch of water which also recalls "materially" this link.
12
The residence spaces are designed taking into consideration the views: for example the position of the master bedroom is intimate, overlooking the quiet bog through a niche facing. A large balcony allows, however, from the living area to enjoy the st u n n i n g s e a v i e w o f t h e p o r t o f Marzamemi.

Social housing in Avola and re-bOOth (SR, Sicily) In a popular district of Avola, the City asks the construction of new housing. The project involves the construction of a parallel stick to the existing surrounding ones, containing studio apartment, two-room and duplex in the header. Each apartment is self served by its own stairway made of adjustable brise-soleil to manage the light. The same system is used for patios / niche of the ground floor but this time to shield from the public garden in front of and passer-by. Each apartment has an open space of relevance, a small garden on the ground floors, large verandas on the first floors. The cover has large terraces enriched with green, accessible to all residents. The public green is conceived as a large boulevard that allows the pedestrian connection between a major street and the square of the district. Parallel to this project, we thought to study a design object that could be useful in limited living space. Thus RE-BOOTH was born, a panel made of aluminum and recycled electrical wires, which can assume the most useful function...

Guest (Light)House
at Capo Murro di Porco (SR, Sicily)
An inaccessible place, where even the Mediterranean woodland bends down to protect itself from the fury of the wind and where the violence of the sea digs and models the hard rock. A harsh place dominated by an irreducible stone hero who fights the most terrifying storms. Inhabiting this place means getting to know the pitfalls, protect yourself. Thus there is the need to think of an architecture leathery, which, despite appearing a break between man and nature, create instead a conciliatory relationship and a balance between the parties. A continuous hard shell, hardened to withstand the most adverse conditions, hides and protects the inner core, a patio that reflects a more domestic dimension. Inspired by the Roman house, introversion creates a hierarchical series of spaces that moving from a public and closed space to the central courtyard, open and private space (clear reference to the Roman impluvium). Succession of solids and voids, like a container erected around the empty spaces; an introvert fence, whose introversion comes paradoxically from a synergy with its surroundings. ph. Maurizio Grasso

Medusa art installation
After a two months workshop, the collaboration with the Mexican artist AdrianSierraGarcia grew. The partnership lasts one month, during which a proposal for urban light installation on the island of Ortigia and a low-cost permanent light installation for the cultural center/vegan restaurant MOON are produced. The installation theme is the myth of Medusa. As the snake-haired gorgon leaves petrified at a glance, so our Medusa, twisted and light, attracts attention to herself to enchante you with her mesmerizing and continuous light movement.
