Gail Jhonson The BLG Label Group & 111 East Jazz Records Present: HerStory B.L.G. Music 360 Nov. 2010

They call her “the First Lady of Smooth Jazz…” and it is a distinction that Gail Denise Jhonson has worked a lifetime to achieve. Let‟s learn a little about HerStory. Born and raised in the city of Philadelphia, Gail‟s fascination with the endless possibilities of the piano began at the young age of 10. By 14, Gail had played her first professional gig, starting her on a journey that has seen her travel the world, touching lives through her gift of music. From her humble beginnings on the streets of Philly to the height of her success on the stage and in the studio, Gail Jhonson has lived a life fully committed to music. The next chapter in HerStory saw Gail graduate from the Berklee College of Music, with a B.A. in Composition. Gail made the move west to Los Angeles, where she established herself in the vibrant heart of the music industry. Gail‟s impressive resume as a recording artist and touring musician includes appearances with such notables as Morris Day, Kevin Toney/The Blackbyrds, Pink, Milli Vanilli, Jermaine Jackson, Bobby Womack, Ray Parker Jr., Vesta, Patti Austin, Peabo Bryson, Jeff Lorber, and Paul Taylor, to name a few… To give you some more background to Her Story, in 2008, Gail‟s CD Pearls was entered for nomination in the 51st Annual Grammy Awards. That same year, Gail shared the prestigious San Diego Market Place stage with her JaZz in P!nk project, an all-star female ensemble of empowered women in jazz. HerStory continues with Gail serving as the music director for Grammy-Award winning guitarist Norman Brown. Gail was also a featured artist on the 2009 and 2010 editions of the Summer Storm Tour. In 2010, Gail took HerStory to the airwaves and began hosting her own Internet radio program, Jaz-Pel Journey on 111 East Praise Radio, presenting the best of contemporary jazz and gospel… music for the spirit and the soul. And now, Gail Jhonson is ready to share with you the latest chapter in HerStory... With her first single “Do Something Else,” Gail Jhonson is creating smooth jazz that is the culmination of HerStory and her life‟s work in music. A track that demonstrates her mastery of composition and the keyboard, Gail inspires her listeners and touches their hearts through the positive power of her music. Her Story is just that good! In joining The BLG Label Group as an artist on 111 East Jazz Records, Gail Jhonson is poised to take HerStory to new places, having new experiences and making a host of new friends and fans along the way. HerStory is far from over, and Gail Jhonson is inviting you to join her for the ride of a lifetime to see where this adventure will lead. HerStory, the new album by “the First Lady of Smooth Jazz” Gail Jhonson, along with the first single “Do Something Else” is available worldwide on 111 East Jazz Records. Ife www.ifemusic.com

B.L.G. Music 360 December 2010

In this issue:

She's being called, "A young Sade meets Lena Horne for the new millennium, " but, the enthralling singer/songwriter with a sound and style all her own, writes and performs music that fuses R&B and Pop with elements of Jazz and Hip Hop that create melodic gems that are hard to forget. The Seattle native grew up studying musical theater, and began honing her raw skills singing in various choirs before going on to study voice in college. During her undergraduate studies in Washington, D.C., Ifé began working as back up singer on the burgeoning music scene that produced artists such as Tank and Raheem DeVaughn. After years of honing her craft developing her live stage show, style and approach, Ifé is ready to take center stage with the release of her debut EP, "CRESCENDO". The eponymous five-song collection is just a taste of the chanteuse's musical offerings and only the beginning of what is sure to be a long career that will include film, television, fashion, as well as business and philanthropy. Currently based in Los Angeles Ifé can be seen performing at some of the hottest spots in the country with her live band and throughout southern California. Ifé is one of music‟s superstars in the making: one to watch and on the verge.

Artist: 111 East Single Song: “Sunset”Review by Gary Brown Rating: 5 Stars (out of 5) B.L.G. Music 360 December 2010

James Bratton‟s enormous arranging and musical talents are on full display with the rich, percussion-laden, calypso flavor of “Sunset”. The tune exhibits a well-balanced arrangement of keyboards, guitar solos, saxophone leads, drums and eclectic tempos. The melodic piece immediately calls to mind a fusion of smooth jazz harmony and rhythmic beats of an immense island dance ensemble. James Bratton has captured the essence of Contemporary Jazz with a very fresh and upbeat single ready for Smooth Jazz Radio stations at home and abroad. The song should also enjoy heavy airplay with Adult Contemporary Radio listeners because of its wide-crossing application of instrumental pitch and style. Although soft in tone, “Sunset” exhibits a very strong portrait of an unforgettable melody encased with lush overtones of a captivating beat. A short but effective element of the great George Benson-like guitar solo, really transitions the tune into another level. The captivating saxophone riffs advances the song even further into a climax of keyboards as the song ends as smoothly as it began. James Bratton‟s collaborations with other talented musicians in the R&B, Dance, House and Hip-Hop genres shine radiantly with his release of “Sunset”. As the song is widely appealing for radio-play listeners it is equally attractive as an addition to anyone‟s MP3 library and for home entertainment as well. The easy-going and pleasant sounds of” Sunset” culminates a perfect end to a day on the beach with that special someone or simply a peaceful departure from today‟s worries. The temptation to start dancing, finger-popping, and just feeling uplifted speaks to the tune‟s pure allure quality combined with a constant percussion-based snare in both the opening and closing of the track. “Sunset” resonates with traditional and contemporary jazz aficionados alike. The track‟s easy listening attraction makes the song an instant favorite among jazz enthusiasts as well as those that simply appreciate great music. “Sunset” exhibits an atmosphere similar to a cool island drenched with a piña colada twist! James Bratton‟s “Sunset” delivers and is destined to become a favorite among his fans and others. Hopefully the sun continues to set brightly for James Bratton as his new track “Sunset” promises to strengthen his current professional resume of diverse yet entertaining music.

“Patchwork” By Daniel Domenge B.L.G. Music 360 December 2010

Daniel has been a professional musician for approximately 20 years. He has played on stage in France (LanguedocRoussillon) with a lot of bands in different kinds of music and has recorded jingles for national and local radio stations as well as writing the arrangements for them. Three years ago he decided to work on his first release ' Patchwork ' in his home studio. When he had written the lyrics and finished the arrangements he began to word seriously with his engineer friend, Reynald Evrard from his studio. He called other musician friends to record the keyboards and drums. Emmanuel Beer (Organik Trio) played Fender Rhodes piano and Hammond B3 organ, Thierry Gautier (Thierry Gautier Trio) played organ solo on the “Influences” track and Bruno Monard features on drum programming loops. Afterwards they recorded definitive guitars. For this album Daniel wanted to mix old sounds like Rhodes piano, Hammond keyboards and “wha-wha guitars” with some contemporary current sounds, sometimes he used voices on the melody. He was delighted to collaborate with Reynald Evrard, his input was very important for Daniel. His new album is recorded, mixed and mastered by Reynald and produced by Daniel. He is looking forward to working together with Reynald for the next project as well. Daniels' influence - he listened to a lot of jazz guitarists like Pat Martino, Wes Montgomery, Joe Pass and many others and of course, George Benson. He is also inspired by Chuck Loeb, Robben Ford, Paul Jackson Jr. and Steve Laury.

LeNora Jaye www.lenorajaye.com

B.L.G. Music 360 December 2010

In this issue:

“Play… a song for the good times, for the bad times…When you wanna lay your problems down and just be…It‟s the music that moves you”-- “Play”Words by LeNora Jaye In a musical wasteland crowded with posers, gimmick peddlers and rump-shaking pop tarts, singer, songwriter and vocal arranger LeNora Jaye stands out like a luxuriant diamond amongst the ashes. Possessing a soul-sweetened voice that evokes the magic of the 1970s, LeNora‟s original songs reconcile old school R&B, street-wise funk and velvety Adult Contemporary pop, while her deep-felt lyrics capture the essence of modern femininity in all its wondrous complexity -- independent yet nurturing, strong yet alluringly vulnerable, cautious, yet capable of wild-eyed impulsiveness. Formerly the lead female vocalist for the Black Rock Coalition band Rhythm Republik, LeNora has opened shows for the esteemed likes of Teena Marie, The Meters, Roger Troutman & Zapp and Roy Ayers, while her solo career has found her sharing stages with some of the classiest names in hip hop, pop and soul, including The Roots, Floetry, India.Arie, Amel Larrieux and others. Now, with the release of her independently produced solo debut album, the talented Ms. Jaye officially steps onto the world stage, with magnificent results. Featuring 15 original compositions and interludes, The Story is an answered prayer for the legions of doubters who thought they couldn‟t write and sing „em like they used to. Assisted by a bevy of skilled co-producers including Supa, Steve Wallace, Thierry DeJean, Armand Tulumello (Astral22), Angela Johnson and Jonathan Lloyd/Douglas Glover (aka NewBlackMusic.net), The Story heralds the arrival of a truly unique singer-songwriter. Asked if there is a theme to the album, LeNora contemplates for a moment, then replies matter-of-factly. “It‟s a woman‟s experience… an urban black woman‟s experience.” While The Story may chronicle the experience of a black American woman, there‟s no denying the album‟s universal appeal. Discerning music lovers will relate to LeNora‟s singular perspectives on life, love and sexual politics, not to mention her enviable ability to convey dignity without ever crossing over into finger-wagging preachiness. As its literary title suggests, The Story is an assemblage of revealing musical chapters authored by a truth-seeking artist. With the long-awaited arrival of her solo debut album, fans can finally experience the performing magic of LeNora Jaye in their everyday lives. But for LeNora herself, the album symbolizes the realization of a lifelong dream. With its soul-stirring original songs and peerless vocals and performances, The Story marks the auspicious beginning of a recording career that promises to influence the shape of R&B to come. “From the start, I always wanted to make sure that whatever I did was real and true to who I was,” LeNora says, earnestly. “That certainly applies to this record. I love these songs 100 percent, because I feel them 100 percent.”

Carmen Rodgers www.carmenrodgers.com

B.L.G. Music B.L.G. Music 360 December 2010

(Neo-Soul) Singer, Songwriter Carmen Rodgers to release part one of two-part album, The Bitter Suite after 5-Year Hiatus. DALLAS, TEXAS 12 May 2010 - Like the old saying 'you‟re beautiful when you‟re angry,' Carmen Rodgers sounds really good when she‟s bitter. The Bitter Suite captures beautifully the stages of hurt, anger and resignation of a love gone bad, says Chris Rizik of Soultracks.com. Dallas' own rising singer-songwriter, Carmen Rodgers, will officially drop her sophomore album, part one of two summer releases, The Bitter Suite digitally on May 25, 2010. The Bitter Suite is an incredible 5-song 3-interlude collection of stories and conversations Carmen has experienced during this 5-year intermission. Filled with blunt truths and dark thoughts she exhibits what her first album, Free, suggested. Freedom. This time, she reveals a freedom in expression, a liberation to lose control and an independence that she's grown to recognize while being away for so long. Jodine of Jodinescorner.com says, "Once again, Carmen Rodgers nails it! Listening to this album, I hear her growth, development, experience, strength as well as sensitivity. It served as a window of her soul and I saw my reflection. We grew together. This wait for her second album was so worth it. She delivered and fed my soul." Produced entirely by Ernie G. and Carmen Rodgers, songs on the album are Tell Your Story, Home, It's Me, Never Again, Better U Than Me, respectively. The entire album is filled with a mixture of slow, melodramatic and sultry instrumentals with provoking lyrics. Never Again, an up-tempo, drum and base tune brings a bit of color in the otherwise somber collection. The single, What Hurts You, a mid-tempo groove that both men and women can relate to, will be included on Intermission, the second summer release which also features a duet with Anthony David. Carmen Rodgers, born in a small town in Mississippi was inspired to sing in church and intrigued by the sounds of blues, R&B and funk music from her uncle's juke joint. After years of singing background for various Indie artists, most notably, N'dambi, she released her debut release, Free, a "compelling neo-soul album featuring rich, jazzy production"1. Since the last album, Carmen has pursued and completed a bachelors degree in Music & Psychology at Dallas Baptist University while managing her own production company, Candigirl Music with partner Michael Reimonenq of Acoustical Endeavors. Kelli & Charli of 2Ntrigue - A Different League 22

A Different League 2Ntrigue is the SISTER ACT DUO from the twin islands of Trinidad and Tobago. The very name evokes a sensual yet mysterious atmosphere. Very diverse in their writing and singing, these exotic beauties exude sexy, sultry and they sizzle! The sisters are as cosmopolitan as the land of their birth. Having been blessed with great talent, the ladies decided to showcase their abilities. Their gospel of M.U.S.I.C. (Making Universal Sounds integrate Completely) says it all. Their MUSIC is a “pepperpot”…sizzling spicy with just enough Caribbean flavor, adding a dose of R&B and a pinch of Pop to create sweet music! Starting their journey singing with the best gospel youth choir in Trinidad and Tobago, these ladies ventured out as the sister act, becoming 2Ntrigue. Their stage presence & creative style were easily recognized and the duo was sought after, opening for international artistes such as Akon, Whitney Houston, Rod Stewart, Usher, Joe, 112, Jagged Edge, Damien „Jr Gong‟ Marley & Beres Hammond, to name a few. They were also on tour with Atlantic‟s recording soca (soul calypso) star “Rupee‟. In 2005 they rejuvenated the „80s classic dance hit “Finally” with a soca twist and featured the original vocalist CeCe Penniston. The song was also remixed and placed on the 2007 dance compilation entitled “Club Hits 2007”. Their first single “KRYPTONITE” from their upcoming album “With No Apologies!”is soon to be released. This album will take you on a musical holiday, a joyful journey more easily experienced than explained. The album will showcase their vocal versatility and writing skills in every aspect!
