But there are some basics that will help you rank higher in all search engines. Here we will share the building blocks and fundamental SEO that all websites must apply. After reading, please feel free to contact if you have any questions or would like a free SEO review of your website. Step 1: Domain Age & Expiration Date Longevity is a helpful factor when it comes to ranking a website/domain. It is not required to be successful but it does help if your domain is 3 years old opposed to 3 months. The expiration date on your domain is also important. Google does not favour expiring domains. Buying up to or above 5 years in domain age will help give your website an added authority boost. Step 2: Keyword Selection It all begins and ends with your keywords. Many of the single and double word keywords are so saturated with competition that a new website or someone new to the web industry may never get to the Top 10 by themselves. We recommend selecting a variety of keywords. A few high competition and a large number of long-tail, 3 words or more, keyword phrases. So instead of "Keyword" go for "Keyword in Local Area" or "Keyword Help and Tips". Long tail phrases can still send significant traffic to your website and are a great place to start your SEO. Some more examples of long tail keywords are: • Keyword Guide • Local Keyword offices in State • Free tutorial on Keyword • What is the best Keyword Picking the right keywords is essential. You want to choose keywords the people using to search for your company. We suggest that you split your keywords between general and specific terms for your industry. If you are a local company, be sure to add your location to your search term. Rethink Networks uses a variety of programs and collected data to provide a strong keyword list to our clients. But a quick and easy method is to search the terms you believe are best is to check keyword trends data on Google, Yahoo, and Bing and how many results they provide. "Free Coffee Samples" for example have 9,650,000 results. You can assume that this keyword has value. Rethink Networks also offers a free SEO quote for your website which includes a keyword review. If you are aiming for higher traffic keywords, you will most likely run into professionally managed competition. This is where utilizing a service like Rethink Network's SEO services can help extend your groundwork above and beyond the competition.
Step 3 - Website URL, The Title, Meta Tags, and Description. Make sure the URL, title, meta, and description tags are all different but are focused on the main keywords you are trying to rank for. The website URL and tags play a roll in a search engine determining what your website is about and how high it should rank. It is best to use your primary keyword in your URL. For example: www.KeywordStoreUK.com will rank higher then www.CompanyName.com for your keyword if both pages are identical. If you find using keywords in your domain-name to be unprofessional, you can use your keywords in the name of your website pages. For example: www.CompanyName.com/Keyword-Store-UK.html. This common and effective practice uses your keywords in your URL but retains your current website title. The title tag should be a phrase about your website using your keywords. The title should not longer than 96 characters including spaces. It is not recommended that you use your website name in the title as it takes up valuable space and offers no value in that location. Make sure you write a phrase and not simply list the keywords. For example: <title>Keyword shop and locations in Location. Keyword2, Keyword3 and Keyword4 for discount prices.</title> Meta Keywords is the simple part as you just list your keywords. Do not go crazy and add hundreds of keywords you believe are good for your website. List your best 10 or 15 keywords and make sure you use those keywords throughout the text on the site. For example: <META name="keywords" content="Keyword1, Keyword2, Keyword3, Keyword4, Keyword5, Keyword6, Keyword7, Keyword8 "> Meta Description is text that will show next to your website in a search result. Try to focus less on keywords here and more towards selling your product. Make sure the description accurate and relative to the content and text on this page. For example: <META name="description" content=" Great place to get deals on Keyword in the Location area. We offer amazing Keyword2 deal for all occasions. Ask about our senior discount for Keyword 3."> There is always debate on what the best way to manage is and what order to use the keywords for these sections. Step 4 - Keyword Density and the Magic H1 Tag There is no point in trying to rank for keywords if you do not use them on your website. The goal is to use a keyword enough times so that your audience and search engines find your website to be a credible source of information for that keyword, but not overdoing or spamming the keywords. We recommend that a keyword does not take up more than 7% of the content on your page but is used more than 3%, including your Title and Meta tags. The "H1" tag is a big help when Google is determining on-page relevancy of the webpage and the keyword your trying to rank for. Only use 1 "H1" tag per page on your website and make sure it contains the primary keyword used in the content. By default "H1" tags typically do not look good on websites. But you can use CSS style to override the default look. Ex: H1 { colour: black; font-family: Verdana; font-size: 18px }
Rethink Networks scans every page of our clients websites to find overall keyword density and "H1" tag use as well as over 100 other on-page variables. We use this information to maximize the benefit of Keyword Density on our clientsâ&#x20AC;&#x2122; websites. For more information please contact: chris@b2blueprint.co.uk Step 5 - Back Links! This is by far the toughest part of SEO. A back link is a link to your website from another website. The simple way to describe the value of a back link is to think of it as a vote. If a website links you your website it is a vote in your favour. The higher the websites page-rank - the higher the vote counts. The best back link is one from a website that has information on your keyword and a high page rank. Many websites have thousands if not more back links to their site and this tells the search engines that the site is credible and should rank accordingly.
