5TH ANNIVERSARY EVENT PROGRAM
1
“ CONGRATULATIONS ASTEROID DAY NOW AT HOME IN LUXEMBOURG! ” BRIAN MAY, QUEEN guitarist and astrophysicist Co-Founder, Asteroid Day
Five years ago, we launched ASTEROID DAY to bring awareness and education about asteroids into a global conversation–and we are succeeding. In 2015, we started with two events and we have thousands being hosted accross 192 countries. In 2016, we were officially recognized by the United Nations, and in 2017, we formed a partnership with the Luxembourg Ministry of the Economy and Luxembourg Space Agency to form the Asteroid Foundation. Today, our home and the hub of all activities for Asteroid Day is here in Luxembourg. As we celebrate our fifth anniversary, we are excited to bring you five days of programming dedicated to all things asteroids. Guided by accomplished physicists, scientists, and astronauts, we will talk about the role of asteroids in the formation of our solar system, and how we can utilize their resources to pave the way for future exploration. We also will learn how new technologies are being used to better understand the composition and nature of asteroids and how to protect our planet from asteroid impacts.

This year, we are broadcasting Asteroid Day LIVE from the historic Cercle-CitÊ, which allows us to showcase the beauty of Luxembourg. We welcome our newest premier sponsor, Euro-Composites (EC), a leader in high-quality composite materials, who join OHB, an innovative space technology company, which has been a major sponsor for the last three years. We thank BCE and SES, which are responsible for making our LIVE programming accessible to the world. We recognize B612, which has enabled us to grow the team and provide infrastructure to deliver Asteroid Day programming year-round. Asteroid Day 2019 was also made possible thanks to the support of Sofitel, Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce, NewSpace Capital Fund, Tomorrow Street, and GLAE. Our heartfelt gratitude goes to all the speakers, astronauts, astrophysicists, asteroid experts, and industry professionals and partners who have traveled to Luxembourg to participate in Asteroid Day 2019. We could not achieve our mission without their expertise and enthusiasm. Finally, we want to recognize the talent and hard work behind the thousands of independently organized activities worldwide. These events would not happen without our Asteroid Day team: Venelin Bochev, Colleen Fiaschetti, Philippine Griveaud, Hillary Aiken, Daniel de Zeeuw, Diane Murphy, Zach Gerber, Forrest Pommer-Schindler, Kathleen Young, Abdalla Dafiah, Lisa Franck and Joelle Byars, who organized five days of activities in Luxembourg. Thank you for these five wonderful years and here’s to many more!

Niessen

The story of our family business began on January 24, 1982 when Maria and Alfred Niessen opened the Niessen-Huppertz Butcher Shop in Troisvierges. Very quickly the small company was known in Troisvierges and surroundings for its products of first choice and for its irreproachable quality; this in particular thanks to their private slaughterhouse. In 2007, Patrick and Jean-Marie take up the torch and diversify the activity by completing their offer with a catering service, in 2015 by an exclusively organic point of sale in Luxembourg-City followed by a new butcher’s shop in Bertrange in July 2017. Patrick, for his part, devotes himself to the catering service which, in less than 10 years, has secured a place among the major players in the market. His watchwords: respect for products and customer service. Thus we devote a major importance to listening to your needs to make your event a unique experience.
Tito’s Handmade Vodka Love, Tito’s is a movement of individuals giving back to causes, efforts and organizations united under the goal to turn spirits into love and goodness. It all started twenty-one years ago. Tito was asked to donate product for a local nonprofit fundraiser. Onsite, he told attendees: “If you like it, tell 20 of your closest friends.” And they did just that — not only about the vodka, but also about how Tito would support charitable events. The phone started to ring more often, and Tito’s fell into the “charity event” business. Through Love, Tito’s, the team has supported thousands of causes.
