TRAVEL AND TRANSPORT GUIDELINES University Centre

University Centre at Blackpool and The Fylde College

University Centre Car Parking Blackpool and The Fylde College, like many other Universities and Colleges, provides very limited parking for students at its town centre sites. The College has a strategic aim to phase out the provision of car parking for students other than for Blue Badge holders due to the limited parking spaces available and as part of the long-term Green Travel Plan. Car parking permits will only be issued for the following: • Blue Badge holders • Staff • Students who currently hold a car parking pass for previous years who are participating in the car share scheme. Students who do not fall into any of the above categories are advised that there are no parking facilities available on site. Any students starting a course of study will not therefore be able to park on site unless they hold a valid Blue Badge. The holding of a Parking Permit does not guarantee a College parking space. Spaces will be filled on a first come first served basis.

Applications If you currently participate in the College’s car share scheme you will need to reapply for a 2012/2013 parking permit online at: www.blackpool.ac.uk/permits

Disabled Badge holders Students who hold a disabled badge are welcome to park on site in the designated disabled parking bays. You will be required to display your badge in the front screen of the car at all times and must also register for a barrier pass. To register simply visit www.blackpool.ac.uk/permits

In Year Changes to Vehicle Details If you change your car during the year and need to update your permit go online and amend your details and a new pass will be issued within seven days. To make amendments visit www.blackpool.ac.uk/permits and log in.

Visitor Parking Official visitor parking is permitted on site. Arrangements should be made in advance with your College contact who will make the appropriate arrangements and send you access details. The College cannot however guarantee that there will be spaces available and visitors may need to consider alternative parking arrangements as identified in this leaflet.

Barrier System A vehicle access control barrier is in operation at the University Centre. Access will only be possible from Bennett Avenue and an authorised access card will be required.

Local Parking A number of local streets are resident-only parking and further areas are likely to become access only areas. Staff and students are therefore advised to avoid parking in any restricted area which may result in a fixed penalty from the authorities. Transport and Travel Guidelines – University Centre
