What
Is your route to engineering success? These programmes aim to develop a clear understanding of the principles and skills involved in the various Engineering disciplines. The courses have a strong vocational emphasis and provide general transferable skills in readiness for employment in this specialised field. This is a new approach to higher education, integrating academic and applied learning with an industrial context. It is the result of a partnership between employers and the College to develop innovative and flexible delivery models for all the HNC programmes.

Why
An HNC Engineering qualification? Skilled engineers are currently in short supply and excellent career opportunities exist as design production or project engineers at technician engineer level. Study options and prices Flexible study options At B&FC, students have the opportunity to study either full or part-time, depending on their external commitments. Parttime study is ideal for those in employment and wherever possible, we will fit timetabling around the demands of family and working life. Learning takes place at our Bispham Campus.

total fee Students receive 12 hours contact time per week for a period of 1 year; alternatively, fewer hours can be studied over a period of either 18 months or 2 years. Part-time students receive less individual support than full-time students and should be highly motivated towards independent learning.

HNC - Engineering Course outline The programmes offer a fixed package of 8 units. The units are seen as sections that complement each other and have been selected and developed through close links with manufacturing industries. You will be equipped with the skills and applied knowledge that will enable you to provide twenty first century technologies to industrial situations while glimpsing at what the future holds for these skills and technologies. Choose from: 1. HNC in Aeronautical Engineering 2. HNC in General Engineering 3. HNC in Mechanical Engineering 4. HNC in Electrical/Electronic Engineering Successful completion of this Level 4 programme at Merit Level will give you direct entry to one of our degree programmes, validated by Lancaster University but delivered here at our Bispham Campus.
For successful graduates, the employment prospects in this field are outstanding. Two recent alumni are now employed by Aston Martin, and by Atomic Weapons Establishment plc as a Trainee Warhead Safety Engineer. In addition, many work experience placements have the potential to turn into full-time, permanent positions.
What skills, qualities and experience do I need? You will need good communication skills as the modules are delivered using an array of lectures, discussions, seminars and presentations. Good interpersonal skills are also important as you will be working in groups on a regular basis and this provides an opportunity for networking. You will be required to complete assignments to tight deadlines so good time management skills are essential. What are we looking for? To obtain a place on this programme, candidates must be able to demonstrate evidence of analytical and communication skills at a higher level. Applicants without the standard entry requirements, but who have industrial experience, will be considered through an interview process and by demonstrating their ability to complete the programme satisfactorily.
Will I be able to fit study around my other commitments? B&FC has an ethos of ensuring that high quality learning is accessible to as many learners as possible and our approach to the HNC Engineering is no different. The qualification can be studied full-time, part-time or via a combination of the two, allowing each learner the flexibility to choose a mode of delivery appropriate to their own particular needs.
