Travel and Transport
Guidelines
University Centre Car Parking Blackpool and The Fylde College, like many other universities and colleges, provides very limited parking for students at its town centre sites. Car parking permits will currently only be issued for the following: • Blue Badge holders • Staff • Students who have held a car parking pass for previous years Students who do not fall into any of the above categories are advised that there are no parking facilities currently available on site. The holding of a parking permit does not guarantee a College parking space. Spaces will be filled on a first-come first-served basis.
Applications If you currently participate in the College’s car share scheme you will need to reapply for a new parking permit online at: www.blackpool.ac.uk/permits
Disabled Badge Holders Students who hold a disabled badge are welcome to park on site in the designated disabled parking bays. You will be required to display your badge in the front screen of the car at all times and must also register for a barrier pass at: www.blackpool.ac.uk/permits
In Year Changes to Vehicle Details If you change your car during the year and need to update your permit, please go online and amend your details. A new pass will be issued within seven days. To make amendments visit www.blackpool.ac.uk/permits and log in.
Visitor Parking Official visitor parking is permitted on site. Arrangements should be made in advance with your College contact who will make the appropriate arrangements and send you access details. The College cannot however guarantee that there will be spaces available and visitors may need to consider alternative parking arrangements as identified in this leaflet. 2
Transport and Travel Guidelines – University Centre
Barrier System A vehicle access control barrier is in operation at the University Centre and an authorised access card will be required.
Local Parking A number of local streets are resident-only parking and further areas are likely to become access-only areas. Staff and students are therefore advised to avoid parking in any restricted area which may result in a fixed penalty from the authorities.
Car Share The College strongly recommends using alternative means of transport and not driving to the College, as we aim to help reduce road congestion, pollution and other detrimental environmental impacts that are associated with the number of vehicles travelling to and from the College. If you do drive, by car sharing the cost of travelling and parking can be split between passengers. Having a travel companion can also improve your journey to College. By registering online, you can search for other people who make similar car journeys to the College. For more information and to register online, go to: www.blackpool.ac.uk/carshare Transport and Travel Guidelines – University Centre
