Our Five Senses The sun, the trees, The sky, Even the moon that Shines at night, I make sense of the Things in sight, I am the eye. The birds that chirp, The wind that blows, Even the sound of the Rain and the thunder That rolls, I make sense of the Things you hear, I am the ear. Roses and vanilla Candles, Different scents from Every angle, I make sense of the Things you smell, I am the nose. 1
Salty, sour, bitter, Sweet, Chocolate, candies your Favourite treats, I make sense of the Things you taste, I am the tongue. And finally the one kids Love so much, Everything they see, Hear, smell and taste, They touch! I make sense of the Things you feel, I am the hand.

The Four Seasons
Summer, winter, autumn
Spring, there’s a season for Everything. I’m going to teach you About all four, turn this page to Learn some more.

Summer
In the midst of the Year summer comes Forth, With rays of sunlight Warming the earth. The school year ends The work is done, Summer is a long Holiday filled with fun.

Winter
Plants stop growing And the weather gets Cold, The sun disappears And it starts to snow. Families make Snowman everywhere, This lets us know the Winter is here.

Autumn
Leaves change colour, then Fall to the ground, They supply soil with nutrients, Once broken down, Squirrels hide nuts by burying Them in many different places, And soon the season of autumn Is gone from our faces.

Spring
After the dark, cold winter, Everything comes alive. There’s a fresh scent of green As the trees begin to thrive. Flowers blossom and bloom While the lovely birds sing, These signs welcome the season 0f spring.

Living and Non-Living Things You can dig a hole and bury a seed And with water and sunlight it Becomes a tiny weed. Through the roots beneath the Soil, nutrients are fetched, Then it gets taller and wider with Branches outstretched. It becomes a tree and produces Fruit, But is then cut down and dies from The root. It is no longer alive; it makes Tables and chairs, And man-made materials which are Sold everywhere. You see living things grow, living Things breathe, They use energy to change Reproduce and excrete. But non-living things are not quite Alike, non-living things display no Characteristic of life. 9

Don’t Waste Water Don’t waste water, water is Life. If we run out of water we Will all die. Turn off the taps while you Brush your teeth, Take shorter showers you’ll Still be clean! Don’t pollute rivers; Animals need clean water To drink, We don’t want to make Them sick but little do we Think. Saving water is not hard To do. Saving water starts With you.

Save Energy I see smoke, I hear Machines, But I dream of a world That is safe and clean. So I shut off the Lights when they are Not in use, and turn all Appliances off when I Leave the room. I go outside when I want To have fun, And make the most of The wind and sun. To save energy I will do Whatever it takes,and so Should you for your own Life’s sake. I cant do it alone I’m just One girl, I need your help to save Our world. 13

Save Planet Earth The Earth needs our help, We all understand. So let us keep our Surroundings as clean as We can. Throw garbage in trash Cans, don’t litter the Streets. This can be harmful, By spreading diseases. Your plastic bottles, Don’t throw them away, Let us recycle, so they Can be used another day. If you haven’t been doing This, its time to start. We can save the earth, if We each take part.

Stop Pollution Pollution is bad but how much do we Care? Why are we destroying layers Of the atmosphere? Burning garbage and cutting down Trees, then we wonder why the Weather is sometimes 33 degrees Garbage is floating in our rivers, oil Spills in our sea, Soon it will only be a place, where our Fishes use to be. Smoke from our cars makes the air Outside gray, We might not see it now but it will Make us sick one day. To save our earth there is something We must do, I will stop pollution. Will you help me too?

Deforestation Our forests are being cleared Of trees, To build houses, furniture and Many things we see. But our trees are important For us to stay alive, And for our earth to be Around for a while. Trees take in carbon dioxide And release oxygen that we Breathe,trees also make food That we need.

Trees provide shade from the Harsh sunrays, Trees keep our atmosphere cool And cause rain. Trees provide animals with a Place to live and breed, But trees are almost all gone Because of our greed. Our forests are important so Children please, let us save our Earth by saving trees.

Global Warming Global warming is also called climate Change, It causes the earth to get Warmer with age. Greenhouse gases that trap heat Like a blanket cause it, Global warming is a result of the Greenhouse effect.
As time goes by the earth’s Temperatures rise, and the air Around the earth gets thicker in Size. Global warming is happening Everywhere and this will affect the Earth in future years. Lets do what We can to stop it today and save Our earth before its too late. 19

Plant Back a Tree For every tree that is cut down I plant five, Because trees are pretty and They keep us alive. They take in the dirty air that Is outside (carbon dioxide) And give us clean air so we can Survive (oxygen). Help me plant trees to keep Our forests green, help me Stop those forest fires so Beauty can be seen. Help me save our animals they Need a home and food, Help me make our earth stay Clean and safe and cool.

Atmosphere-The envelope of Gases surrounding the earth or Another planet.
Characteristic-A feature or Quality of a person place or thing That is used to identify them.
Deforestation-The action of Clearing a wide area of trees.
Energy-The ability to do work.

Global warming-The process that Causes the Earth’s tempertature to Rise and makes the earth warmer.

The poetry book ‘Saving The World Outside’ will take children on a journey led by action-adventure superheroes Tim and Tiana. Their ultimate goal is to protect the environment, hence saving nature, creatures and their habitats. The book is a simplified and artistic form of environmental education, composed of poems and images accompanied by learning activities. It is designed for children and is practical in
teaching the components
that make up the environment, as well as simple ways in which children can care for the environment. Preserve, Conserve and Protect!
