My 2016 wish for you We always have a choice The beginning of a brand new year can be very exciting, but also just as overwhelming. When I look back on 2015, I’m amazed at how fast time flew by and I wonder if 2016 will also be a whirlwind of emotions and events. But then I remember that 2016, just like every day, is a blank canvas in front of me and I can create the scene I want to create on it. It’s like writing a new song, I can pick any style, any beat or rhythm and I can make the melody and words up as I go along. It’s my choice, it’s my song. The last three years were very challenging for many of us. I myself lost my Mother and got divorced. These challenges guided me to a place where I needed to stop and do some inner healing. During this process I’ve remembered that I chose all my experiences before I was born and remembering this placed me in a position of power, instead of feeling like a victim. I had to ask myself why I have picked these experiences. What did I want to learn? How did it make me grow and did it make me stronger and better? The answer was yes and suddenly I was thankful and grateful for everything that happened. I saw the perfection in it all and I was amazed at how wonderful life can be, if we realise we have a choice in every situation. We can choose to grow and become stronger. We can choose to focus on all the good. We can choose to be the love we want to receive. We can choose to be the miracle we want to see. We can choose to be the authority in our own lives and give ourselves permission to be happy. What we focus on will grow, so I choose to focus on love this year. Love for my life, love for my Creator, love for my fellow human beings, love for all of creation and very importantly, love for myself. Because what I cannot give to myself, I won’t have to give to others. I know 2016 will be a year filled with love, joy andpeace for all, so happy New Year beautiful friends.

You will need : Canvas or wood (size is your choice) Fabric Quilt Ba Ribbon Staple Gun/Staples Hanging br acket

Cut your fabric 3 inches taller and wider than your canvas. Put your covered canvas face down on the wr ong side of y our fabric. Staple all the way around, tucking the f abric around the corners. Be generous with the staples so that the fabric stays smooth t. This is what it will look like on the front and back at this point 3. Lay the ribbon out in a criss-cr oss pa ern, and leave about 5cm on either end to be stapled around the back. I used 10 pieces of ribbon – 5 running in each dir 15 cm apart. Staple the ribbon on one side of the c anv t, and staple around the other side. 4. A ach a picture hanging br acket to the back so you can hang on the w all. Banting Recipes for your New 2016 Body Low Carb Cheesecake Base: 2 beaten eggs 1 cup almond flour 1/3 cup xylitol 1 tsp baking powder Mix together well and put into a greased pie dish, bake in oven at 180 degrees for about 15 mins until golden. Once done, leave to cool. Filling: 250g full fat cottage cheese ± 300ml banting condensed milk (recipe below) juice of 2 lemons Mix together all 3 ingredients until well blended and smooth. Put on top of the base and spread evenly. Place in the fridge for a few hours to chill and then enjoy! Banting condensed milk: 375ml fresh cream 1/2 cup xylitol 3 tbs butter 1/4 tsp xantham gum (optional) 1 tsp vanilla extract Combine first 3 ingredients together in a pot and place on stove. Bring to a boil and then turn down the heat to allow the
custard to simmer for about 30 mins, stirring occasionally. Once reduced, whisk in xantham gum and boil for another minute. Then remove from heat and stir in vanilla. Allow to cool completely.
Refreshing Drinks
Here are some recipes for those of you who want options other than water to drink. These drinks are refreshing and delicious, especially when served with water sparkling water, ice and fresh mint leaves. It is made from fresh, natural ingredients and contains no sugar. It is also a good option for your child’s “juice” bottle for school. A little goes a long way and makes water taste way more interesting. Tastes like Lemon Twist 750ml Sparkling Water 50ml Lemon Juice 50ml Lime Juice 2/3 sachets of Stevia or 2/3 teaspoons Xylitol Mix all together and refrigerate. Add a sprig of mint for a minty twist.

Lemon & Lime Cordial Juice 2 1/2 lemons and a lime. Zest of both lemons Half a cup Xylitol 2 cups water. Bring to the boil & simmer for 2 mins. Dilute with plain or sparkling water. Can add a little grated ginger Lemon & Grenadilla Syrup 2 cups water 1/4 cup freshly lemon juice 1/4 cup xylitol Boil together for 3-4 min Pulp of 2 grenadillas boil for another 3-4 min Cool down Use syrup and mix it in sparkling water with lemon slices Gives 15x 200 ml cups each 2g carbs per cup.

How to Check Your Car Before a Road Trip Planning on going on a road trip soon? Before you do so, you should check your car to make sure that it is in good condition and running smooth. This will help you to drive safe and avoid any breakdowns or mechanical issues. Then you’ll be free to just roll down the windows, turn on the radio and enjoy the open road! 1 Check the fluids in your car. Checking the oil, coolant, brake fluid and windscreen wash levels may help you avoid an accident or an unnecessary breakdown (also check the levels for the clutch fluid (often the same as brake fluid) and power steering fluid (if fitted to your car) refer to your owner’s manual to see where fluid reservoirs are located. 2 Check your air pressure. These should be printed in the owner’s manual or a sticker on the body where the driver’s door shuts. The pressure marked on the side of the tyre is the max which must not be exceeded. Also, don’t forget to check your spare tyre pressure. Often neglected, not doing so will turn a bad time into a worse one if the spare is unusable. 3 If it is almost time to get the oil changed, do it before you leave. A long trip can put additional stress on your motor. Also don’t think that adding extra oil by yourself will work like an oil

change, because that does not get rid of the sludge from old used oil. You may not realise this due to the fact that your continuously adding new cleaner oil which makes it appears as if its clean oil. When changing your car’s oil you must always replace the oil filter at the same time. Check your tyre wear by using a penny or tread gauge. Ensure you have at least 1.6mm tread left, if the tread is less than or 2.5mm consider replacing your tyres for very long journeys as they will wear down more quickly. Tyres heat up on long trips which can cause blowouts on worn out tyres. Check your car’s air filter. A plentiful supply of clean air to your engine improves the vehicles performance and efficiency. Also check and change your car’s cabin (pollen) filter (if fitted) as these are often ignored in services and if worn adversely affect the quality of air in the cabin. Wash your car. At the minimum, clean the windows of your car for the best visibility. Also check the condition of your wiper blades and replace them if necessary) Check to be certain that all lights and signals are functional on your car. You may need the

help of another person for this. Sit in the car, turn on each light or signal and ask your friend to tell you if it is working or not. Replace bulbs as necessary. Also consider carrying spare bulbs on a road trip (at least one for each light eg. headlights, indicators, tail lights, reverse lights. To avoid being pulled over/ticketed). Changing bulbs (especially front) can take time in modern cars so don’t leave this too late if bulbs need changing. Note: occasionally, lights may not work because a fuse needs replacing. Consider checking your headlights alignment (using a white garage door or inside a garage) and adjusting the alignment if it is incorrect as poor headlight alignment will reduce visibility at night, especially on unlit roads. 8 E nsure that you have all emergency equipment inside your car, and that everything works properly. Emergency equipment includes, an up-to-date map, cell phone, spare tyre (alternatively a puncture repair kit, although this is not ideal) and emergency tools (e.g. flashlight, screwdrivers, pliers and an adjustable spanner). Although usually absent; flares, medical kits and fire extinguishers may come in handy in worse-case scenarios. Carry a reflective warning triangle.
