Verkeersopeenhoping vind plaas nadat vragmotors bots. Op Dinsdag 7 Januarie ongeveer 10:30 het ‘n vragmotor van Route 7 Trading teen die agterkant van ‘n African Link Transport vragmotor gebots. Die voorval het by die verkeerslig op die hoek van Heidelbergweg en Springsweg, Nigel plaasgevind. ‘n Onklaar vragmotor het in die linkerbaan gestaan. Met die aankoms by die verkeerslig het die voorste vragmotor van bane verwissel, nadat hy die onklaar vragmotor gewaar het.
Intussen het die verkeerslig na rooi oorgeskakel. Volgens ‘n woordvoerder het die derde vragmotor nie sy volg afstand gehou nie en kon sodoende die vragmotor nie betyds tot stilstand bring nie. Hierdie stilstaande vragmotors het die verkeervloei belemmer en opruimingswerk was langsaam omrede een van die vragmotors diesel gestort het. Mediese personeel, brandweer en metro polisie was vining op die toneel. Geen ernstige beserings is opgedoen nie.

Hierdie is slegs etlike kernfaktore wat oorweeg moet word en dit lig slegs die kritiese aspekte uit. Daar kan aansienlik op uitgebrei word. Let 2014 be a fit year
2014 is here and the f irst month is already half gone. Many of us have plans for 2014 but I wonder how many of us have made FITNESS an objective in 2014? I would like to challenge the community of Heidelberg to look at making 2014 a year to get fit. Maybe some of you are already saying NO – but please read on. The first fitness that I would like us to look at is FITNESS OF OUR SOUL. There are so many folk who are struggling in Heidelberg and it is a big concern to me. I am getting more and more folk from the community contacting me for help. The folk are considering suicide, divorce, turning to substances for relief of their “pain” and very few are coming right. Is there hope one wonders? Yes there is hope but many folk look to the wrong source for help. We are very quick to turn to the world for help instead of turning to God for help. We see things on the TV and think that our answer lies in what we see. We turn to people who give advice based on TV and the world on not on the Bible. We even play god ourselves and put demands on our lives and then expect God to sort them out. God created each and every person reading this article. God created each and every person on earth and so surely He knows best on how to help us when we need help. We were created with a plan and each of us is called to that plan. Some folk listen and try to be obedient to God but others do not and fall short of that calling. Created by God and a life plan from God – surely God will help us right with our troubles and problems. I challenged our congregation to think about life since last year October and think of all the times that God has come through for you, how many times you can identify when God’s hand has been on your life. Why don’t you try it – and then you will know that you can trust God to help you sort out your soul. Get your soul fit – God is waiting to help. The second fitness is to do with eating and drinking. So many people eat and drink the wrong food and then wonder why they

Rev Goddess, Heidelberg Methodist Church cannot lose weight and they also wonder why they suffer from high blood pressure and cholesterol problems. Make a change in your lifestyle and start eating and drinking right. It is never too late to start this but it could be too late once you have a heart attack….. A fresh fruit salad from the super market is much healthier than a burger and chips. A glass of water is what your body needs and not a fizzy drink. Get your body fit by eating and drinking right. The last fitness that I want to look at is physical f itness. Many people have a mental block against getting fit because they think it is too much hard work. Well if you start slow you can build up to a point of being fitter than you were. How about going for a slow walk for just 2 or 3 kilos three times a week and then increasing the pace and finally increasing the distance over time. There a few folk in our church who have decided to make an effort to help us get fit. On the 8th February 2014 at 07h00 we are starting a new WALKING MINISTRY. The idea is that once a month we will go to different venues and go for a walk together. The first walk is a slow 4.5Km walk in Suikerbosrand Nature Reserve. Bekende meubelwinkel word die slagoffer van ‘n gewapende rooftog. OK meubelwinkel op die hoek van Eerste straat en Hendrik Verwoerdstraat Nigel is op 29 Desember 2013 deur drie gewapende mans beroof. Die voorval het hom afgespeel na ure. ‘n Booswig het hom voorgedoen as ‘n ywerige kliënt wat dringend iets wou aankoop. Hy het aanhoudend aan die deur geklop, totdat een van die winkel assistente ondersoek ingestel het. Die verdagte het ‘n vuurwapen op haar gerig en haar beveel om die deur oop te sluit. Hy en sy makers het toe die winkel
betree en die werknemers van OK aangehou. Hulle was opsoek na kontant en het die bestuurder aangesê om die geldkluis oop te sluit. Nadat daar ‘n geruime tyd gesukkel is met die oopmaak van die kluis het die rowers besluit om plasma tv skerms te buit. Volgens OK se bestuurder is daar vanaf Augustus 2013 al vyf keer by die winkel ingebreek en groot skade en verlies is gely gedurende hierdie rooftogte. ‘n Saak van gewapende roof is geopen by Nigel SAPD. Geen verdagtes is nog inhegtenis geneem nie.

Mans nog op vrye voet na verkragting. ‘n 29 Jarige dame is aangeval terwyl sy huis toe gestap het op Saterdag, 4 Januarie om 15:00. Sy is oorrompel deur twee mans by Noycedale brug in Nigel, naby John Vorster stadion. Die twee verdagtes het die slagoffer in die kanaal onder die brug verkrag. Die getraumatiseerde dame het die insident laataand by die polisie aangemeld. Volgens W/O MC Von Wieligh is ‘n saak van verkragting geopen en word dit tans deur die FCS op Springs ondersoek.

Winkel kassier be-dank na rooftog. Solo Vulstasie en winkel in Johan van der Merwe Rylaan, Nigel is een van vele besighede wat nie ‘n misdaad vrye feesseisoen beleef het nie. Op Saterdagaand 3 Januarie 2014 het ‘n skurk, geklee in ‘n blou baadjie en ‘n blou sportsak in sy hand, die winkel binne gekom en ‘n vuurwapen op die kassier gerig. Die kassier was beveel om al die kontant aan die skurk te oorhandig. Na afneem van die kontant het die skurk homself uit die voete gemaak. Die verdagte het oor die oopstuk veld verdwyn. Annetjie en Nico Coetzer eienaars van die besigheidsperseel vertel dat die kassier so getraumatiseer was dat hy bedank het. ‘n Saak van gewapende roof is geopen by Nigel SAPD. Fireworks Kosbare nig ht mare oomblik
Fireworks traumatized pets during the festive season. The statistics of stray dogs after fireworks shows an improvement over the previous year even when the fireworks were worse than ever; says Hazel from Nigel SPCA. The illegal fireworks carried on for a few days. Nigel SPCA collected ten stray dogs on January 2 and 3 and many owners reported missing dogs that have not been found as yet. Only three stray dogs have been claimed to this date and one stray had to be humanely euthanized after being seen by the vet. Parents are still very irresponsible in allowing their children to play with fireworks. In one incident the children threw a cracker into a house were the dogs were kept. Fortunately the dogs were not injured only traumatized.

In 2013 het Nigel VLU hul toegespits om Sunfield Fortuna Home hul projek te maak vir die jaar. Inwoners van Sunfield is met so min te vrede dat die dames van Nigel se VLU tak besluit het om uit te reik na die tehuis. Gedurende verlede jaar is daar vir die lede gevra om skoonheidsprodukte na elke byeenkoms te bring. Daar is genoeg voorraad bymekaar gemaak gedurende 2013 om sodoende vir elke inwoner by Sunf ield ‘n geskenk pakkie te kon opmaak. Saam met die geskenk pakkies is heerlike tuisgebakte koekies wat deur die VLU dames gebak is, oorhandig. Donderdag 29 November het die dames die verskeie pakkies gaan aflewer by Sunfield Fortuna. Die vreugde op die inwoners se gesigte het boekdele gespreek en hulle was so dankbaar vir die besoek en belangstelling wat aan hulle getoon is gedurende die dag. Die VLU doen ‘n beroep op die inwoners van Nigel om bietjie moeite te doen om die mense by Sunfield te gaan besoek.

Whenever a resource is limited, prioritizing becomes imperative. The Bible teaches us that our time on earth is short (Psalm 39:4; Psalm 90:10). Since we experience the passing of time rather subjectively, depending on the situation we find ourselves in, it is easy to sometimes lose track of exactly how precious every second of our lives is (Romans 13:11-14). God expects of us to live circumspectly, in other words to consider the future consequences of actions at hand so that our lives will be productive, fruitful and conducive to the utilization of every opportunity we have. In order to do this, it is vital for us to understand what the Lord wants us to do. Luke 10:38-42 provides us with a perfect example of what is really important to God. When Jesus visited Martha and her sister Mary, Martha worked at preparing the meal and taking care of their guests. On the other hand, Mary sat at Jesus’s feet. Martha was upset about this to such a degree that she asked Jesus why He did not tell Mary to help her. Jesus responded by explaining that even though Martha did what was good, Mary chose to do what was better. God wants us to prioritize our relationship with Him above all else. He wants us to consider Christ and His cause
in everything. Proverbs 1:7 teaches that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of all wisdom. The quality of our relationship with God forms the foundation for all other relationships, interactions and decisions. Outside of a healthy relationship with God, it is impossible to live wisely. Living wisely does not speak only of eliminating sin and the time it takes to deal with the consequences. It also refers to living accurately, making sure that every moment spent is spent on what would produce the best God-result. If the devil can occupy us with useless activity and so cause us to miss the mark, which ultimately is what sin is, he manages to subtly divert our attention from what God wants without us even realizing that we are sinning. The same thing happens when we allow our focus to wander from the current moment that should be carefully considered and lived in the purpose of God to either focus on the past with regret or on the future with fear. In order for us to live wisely, we need to live fully in the moment and prioritize that which is truly beneficial over the things we consider to be good. As we set aside the next 21 days to fast and pray, our aim is not to simply participate in a wholesome spiritual ritual, but rather to earnestly seek the face of God concerning all areas of our lives. God should be paramount; His Kingdom should come first. We need understanding of what He wants us to do so that we can live wise!

The thief’s stole an ice-maker machine and a laptop on separate occasions. These separate incidents were captured on CCTV camera, showing the perpetrators taking goods out of the shop without paying.
