Suicide On an average day, 23 South Africans lose their lives to suicide and counterintuitively more of these lives are lost when the sun is out. Major depression affects about one in three South African adults, 8.3% of adolescents and 2.5 % of children. The latest studies seem to suggest that there is little correlation between mental wellbeing and warm weather. More suicides occur in springtime than during any other season world-wide. Mariska van Aswegen, spokesperson of leading antidepressant drug producer, Pharma Dynamics says we instinctively believe that warm weather makes us happier, when in fact it’s often quite the opposite. The contrast between what we think we should feel (joy, happiness) and what we may feel (sad, anxious, irritated or uncomfortable with our body) can lead to feelings of depression. People who are vulnerable to suicidal
behaviour face more challenges when the weather warms and social interaction increases. Those who are struggling may feel left out of social engagements. Symptoms of clinical depression may include tiredness or loss of energy almost every day, significant weight-loss or gain, feelings of worthlessness or guilt, impaired concentration, insomnia or hypersomnia and a diminished interest or pleasure in almost all activities. If any of the above symptoms continue for longer than two weeks seek help from a psychologist or another mental health practitioner. Exercise is a great way to boost your mood and self-confidence. Try to get at least eight hours of sleep every day. Recognise that you are not alone in feeling depressed. From the desk of Rev Ray Goddess but there is a lot of common ground that can bond us in a Christ friendship that will benefit all parties. The third point is that we need friends. This friendship is not just “best buddies” but rather a friendship that we can draw from. The friends we have and the friend groups that we mix in often govern our own life style and reaction to life situations. If we are spending time in a group of people who swear and throw temper tantrums for things that go wrong we will very soon find that we are doing the same. So my suggestion is that we look carefully at our friends and make sure that all our friendships add to the quality of our life and do not break our life or the life of others down. A great place to experience this friendship is in a cell group (home group or bible study) in our church. In the presence of Jesus our life becomes one of comfort and peace. In ending remember that the ultimate friend who will NEVER let us down is Jesus. In my mind a relationship with Jesus is critical and we all need this as a basis of our life and we need to “consult” regularly with Jesus and get advice from Him. Jesus is always right and we can live by this fact.

Caught Busted Arrested in the act A tip-off from the community led to the arrest of cigarette thieves. Heidelberg Police receive a tip-off from the community on Augustus 20. Thorough investigation by D/Sergeant J van Niekerk leads to the arrest of the suspects. It is alleged that a cream white Toyota Corolla was pulled off the road. Upon searching it, 7 boxes were found containing various brands of cigarettes. The driver and his crew fail to produce verification of where they purchase the cigarettes. The boxes were carrying an estimated value of R108 000-00. The arrested suspects will appear before Heidelberg Magistrate Court.
The arrested thief’s. Two thieves were caught red handed while trying to steal a road sign pole. Whilst members were in a meeting at Duduza SAPS on Augusts 25 around 10:30 they observed 2 males digging up a street sign pole on the side of Tonk Meter Road, Duduza. Constable Elias Tshabalala and Warrant Officer Jaco Du Plooy immediately rushed to scene and were aided by members of Duduza Precinct EMPD. On approach, the suspects, both aged 19 years, noticed the oncoming presence of the law, and immediately stopped. The 1 suspect then set off on foot into the nearby field and the other was arrested at the pole. The suspect was loaded into the police vehicle. They then set off into the f ield after the second suspect. He was shortly after arrested. According to the members, the suspects had dug out the pole and said they had intended to take the poles to the scrap yard to sell it as scrap metal. Both suspects are detained on charges of malicious damage to government property and theft and will appear in court as soon as possible.

Two suspects arrested for the possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition. Gauteng Flying Squad members arrested two male suspects aged 19 years old respectively along the N3 Freeway, De Hoek Plaza in Heidelberg South on August 19. Effective policing by Const. TA Machedi and Const, MJ Tuli led to the arrest of the suspects. The two police Officials were conducting their daily routine duties, when they spotted a suspicious maroon Tata Indica. Upon searching the vehicle, a pistol with 7 ammunitions and a silver 303 rifle were found in the boot of the car. The driver and the crew fail to produce a f irearm licence. The arrested suspects will appear before Heidelberg Magistrate Court soon.

Versekeraars gebruik statistiese modelle en algoritmes om al die risiko-faktore wat die voorkoms van ‘n versekerde gebeurtenis bepaal, vas te stel in ‘n risiko-profiel en ‘n premie daarvoor te bepaal. Hierdie inligting is welbekend aan alle versekeraars wat op oorwegend dieselfde inligting werk. Dit behoort al ‘n waarskuwing te wees teen die najaag van goedkoper premies. Polishouers moet ‘n duidelike onderskeid tref tussen ‘goedkoop’ premies teenoor ‘bekostigbare’ premies. Dit word algemeen aanvaar dat goedkoop premies dikwels daartoe lei dat daar beperkings gestel word op die betaling van ‘n eis of dat dit in geheel afgewys word. ‘n Woord van waarskuwing: Enige versekeringskontrak is gebaseer op ‘goedertrou’ wat beteken dat die versekeraar die versekering van die risiko aanvaar op grond van hul bepaling van die risiko. Daar is dus ‘n verpligting op die polishouer om nie tot die risiko by te dra nie. ‘n Versekeraar kan dus weier om ‘n eis te erken as daar duidelike aanduidings is dat die polishouer nie redelike stappe geneem het om die risiko te verminder of te beperk nie. ‘n Mens kan byvoorbeeld nie eis vir skade aan die huis se dak as dit duidelik blyk dat daar nie onderhoud of instandhouding gedoen is nie. Op dieselfde basis, in geval waar die versekeraar een of ander vorm van alarm of opsporingstelsel vereis, sal hulle ook bewyse verwag dat die stelsels periodiek getoets en aangeskakel was ten tyde van die eis. Dit is soveel makliker as ‘n mens ‘n verhouding opbou met ‘n gerespekteerde makelaar of tussenganger wat jou kan bystaan en adviseer oor die tegniese aspekte van versekering. Pollution Sewerage river are polluting the streets of Nigel and is the cause of great stench in the air. Owner of Aluminium Windows located at Second Street, is enraged about disgusting sewage from municipal manholes which are pouring out on his business premises. Steven Dyke said that this is a huge problem and has been going on for the past six years. His complaints fall on deaf ears at the local Ekurhuleni municipality in Nigel. According to Dyke the problem exacerbate during the rainy season. A pool of raw sewage forms on the premises. The sewage literally bubbles out of every manhole and even drains had not escaped the contingencies. To enhance the situation, Dyke took the initiative to dig trenches in the ground and holes in the concrete to prevent the spillage developing in a lake.
Rekord dropped in at Aluminium Windows on Tuesday September 2, 2014. The contingencies that where found are astounding and shocking. Dozens of used sanitary products are lying around the premises and floating towards Second Street. To make the situation even worst is that this incident is causing a health risk to the community and residents. Dyke informed and approached the municipality on several occasions about the problem. The last report of the situation took place during Monday, September 1, where a job card was created. According to Dyke, he has a faithful source within the municipality and learned that the purification plant pumps are no longer in a working condition and repairs needed urgently. The munisipality is currantly dealing with the problem.

Die rede hiervoor is dat die munisipaliteit nie almal se pos adresse op rekord het nie. Georganiseerde landbou het reeds vergaderings met amptenare van die Munisipaliteit gehad en navorsing dui daarop dat die korrekte koers nie deur die munisipaliteit gebruik was in hul berekeninge vir landbougrond nie. Die Wet bepaal dat koers vir landbou eiendomme nie teen dieselfde koers as residensiële eiendomme belas moet word nie en skryf voor dat die koers wat gebruik moet word, 1:0,25 residensiële eiendomme teenoor landbou eiendomme moet wees. Grondeienaars moet jaarliks teen Mei seker maak wat die tarief vir die volgende munisipale boekjaar is, ten einde te kan kontroleer dat hulle korrekte bedrae betaal.

Order any
corsages/boutonnières. Arrange picture options with friends and family. If you are going in a group, plan to meet at a location where everyone can take photographs. On the special day, go to all the necessary appointments. If you are getting a manicure/pedicure, get nails done first, then hair, ending with makeup. Get dressed at your planned location, and finish off with any accessories. Take pictures with the group. Smile! Virtual Race VitaFit wellness centre hosted a challenge that harbours fitness goals and aspirations. The challenge kick-started from July 1 till August 31 and participants had to exercise their way to Cape Town. During an exercise a competitor burns calories. These calories were then converted to distance in kilometre. It is in this way that you exercise your way to your target destination. The more calories you burn, the faster you move. The race was divided into three categories: Moderate – group A with a distance of 1405 km. Challenging - group B with a distance of 1945 km. Tough – group C with a distance of 2592 km. The winners of these categories are as follows: Group A – Ronel van Coller, Group B – Vanessa Carstens and group C – Thea Strassburg. All the winners received prizes from Vitaf it Wellness Centre, PSN and Salon U-Nique.
