Tender care & love Advent Haven Frail Care Centre offers accommodation for people over 60 years of age. They are situated 6 kilometres outside Heidelberg in a tranquil environment. Attack I have been speaking to many people in the past few weeks and each person tells their story of how they are struggling with relationships, finances and work. While I do not dispute this at all as we can see the struggles that many are going through I feel that we need to look at a few truths and realize what is happening and more importantly what to so. The first thing we need to realize is that as Christians we are under attack and temptation to draw us away from God rather than closer to God. Face facts, if the attacks and/or temptations win then God loses. But here is a truth that I would like all of us to hear very clearly. It is up to us to either allow the attacks or temptations to influence our lives or to stand up for Jesus and face them head on with Jesus at our side. Let us start by looking at our lives and what we are going through. I can promise that no matter who you are and what your status in life is there is ALWAYS someone else who is struggling more than you are struggling. This is the first thing that we need to notice – our status in life is of human choice. In other words it is us who want more and we need to realize that God knows what we need and we need to be happy with what He provides. So what do you do when faced with worldly challenges? The wrong thing to do is to run away from them or to turn away from them. All too often people tell me that they are “moving on” to another company, another town, another country or another church. I feel that a person should take

Rev Goddess, Heidelberg Methodist Church time to think the situation through and look at the problem from all sides and then make a plan to address the problem rather than run away from it. Once the problem has been addressed and it cannot be resolved then one can think of “moving on”. The fact is that all too often the “problem” or situation moves with you and is therefore never resolved. When reading the book of Acts in the Bible a person gets a clear picture of the life that Paul leads and I feel that we can all learn from his experiences. Paul was quite happy to face the issues and not run away from them, he was even quite willing to sit in prison without any justifiable charge laid against him. Interestingly he used this time to write some of his letters/books. Should we not model our own struggles on his example and see how we can best turn a bad situation into a good one and move on with our lives. Times are tough in South Africa at this point but we should try not to let the occasion “get to us” but rather think rationally and create positive out of all our experiences.

Community alert The station commander at Duduza SAPS, Lieutenant Colonel Louise Droskie, has, without prejudice, issued instruction that no cases will be withdrawn at Duduza police station in future. This instruction has been put in place after a trend has been noted in respect of contact related crimes, such as assault and rape. Cases are reported, and this means allocation of resources by the station, manpower and time, to investigate the reported alleged offence, only for the complainant to come to the investigation off icer a few days later and inform them that they have resolved the matter personally by means of family intervention and so on. Then they wish to withdraw the charge they have reported. The is affecting the police station’s performance negatively as resources are being misused by these alleged victims to achieve
some form of gain, in most cases financially. The community is warned that this practice will no longer be tolerated. All charges will be investigated, necessary arrests made and brought before the magistrate’s court. The complainant will have to plead with the court to withdraw their charge and provide valid and justifiable reason for the withdrawal of the case. Before reporting any cases, provide valid and justifiable facts.

Challenges and even severe trials are part of every person on Planet Earth’s life. When we determine to live Godly lives, we can stand assured that persecution will come. This however is no cause for fear! Stop illegal connections or we lose more lives The Executive Mayor of Ekurhuleni has warned that more innocent lives are going to be lost if illegal connections are allowed to continue in our communities. Reacting to news of the death of 10-yearold Asandile Pati who was electrocuted as a result of illegal connections in Thokoza, Gungubele says it is time for the community ‘enough is enough’.
“Every time we make an effort to remove illegal connections we get attacked by angry communities. The sad scenario is that the practice claims innocent lives on an annual basis yet communities still allow them to continue,” Gungubele points out. “Our communities must understand that while this is a threat to the electricity grid

So loop elkeen van ons met een of ander masker rond. My seer is myne en vir die wêreld sal ek glimlag en wys dit gaan goed. So word die een las op die ander gestapel en so word my geestelike grondgebied al hoe kleiner. Openbaring 2:4 sê “Maar Ek het teen jou dat jy jou eerste liefde verlaat het”. Wat beteken dit? Wanneer ek nie let op my geestelike lewe nie, wanneer ek sonde en verkeerde gedagtes toelaat, verlaat ek my bekeringsliefde…Dis my eerste liefde en laat ek die duiwel toe om my geestelike lewe en daarmee saam my blydskap, stuk vir stuk van my te roof. Niemand is sonder sonde nie en niemand is gevrywaar teen versoeking nie. Die Bybel vertroos ons met Romeine 3:23: “..want almal het gesondig en dit ontbreek hulle aan die heerlikheid van God.” Ons moet besef daar is geen geheim voor God nie. Wees versigtig om nie ‘n deur vir satan, die versoeker oop te maak en hom toe te laat om jou geestelike grondgebied te betree en daarvan te beroof nie. Wat moet ek doen? Ek moet verantwoordelik omgaan met my saligheid. My gedagtes moet ek gevange
25 AUGUST 2015 neem. Ek moet my geestelike erfdeel vertroetel en oppas en daarteen waak om geestelik te verkoud. Ek moet die Heilige Gees se werk in my lewe opnuut koester en heiligmaking na streef. Ek moet bid sonder ophou. My verwagting ten opsigte van die wederkoms van Christus Jesus moet aangewakker word. Soek meer geestelik dieptes. Openbaring 2:5: ”Onthou dan waarvandaan jy uitgeval het, en bekeer jou en doen die eerste werke anders kom Ek gou na jou toe en sal jou kandelaar van sy plek verwyder as jy jou nie bekeer nie.” Het u geweet: Die lig van jou kandelaar dui die plek van jou huis en jou grondgebied aan! In ander woorde as jou kandelaar verwyder word het jy GEEN MEER grondgebied nie en SATAN kan jou uiteindelik opeis as sy eiendom. En as mens toelaat dat dit op ‘n daaglikse basis gebeur, word jy met tyd daaraan gewoond en aanvaar jy dit as vanselfspekend. Dis wanneer hierdie toestand gevaarlik word! Ek moet besef dat ek weggedwaal het en moet ernstig na God roep! Jeremia 31:18 “U het my getugtig en ek het my laat tugtig soos ‘n ongeleerde kalf. Bekeer my, dan sal ek my bekeer, want U is die HERE my God”. My belydenis: Hemelse Vader, U wie die hartekenner is, voor wie daar geen geheim bestaan nie. Deursoek my wese. Vergewe my dat ek toegelaat het, dat die vyand my beroof. Ek kom na U toe en glo dat deur my belydenis ek vergewe is en dat ek alles terugeis wat van my weggeneem is. Dit sluit in: God se saligheidswerk in my, my geestelike erfenis, my bekering. My blydskap in die Here, my verlossing, my getuienis, my geloof, my genesing, my hemelsverwagting, asook my daaglikse heilige lewe voor God. Amen.

Egskeidings het ‘n skrikwekkende uitwerking op kinders! Van alle kinders wat vanjaar gebore is, sal vyftig persent hiervan die effek van hul ouers se egskeiding ervaar vóór hulle agtien word, luidens ’n Amerikaanse navorsingsverslag. Wanneer ouers skei, is die emosionele gevolge van dié trauma op ’n kind skrikwekkend. Tieners in enkel-ouer gesinne en saamgestelde gesinne is drie keer meer geneig as ander om sielkundige hulp binne die gegewe jaar te ontvang en in vergelyking met kinders wie se huise deur dood getref is, het kinders uit geskeide huise meer sielkundige probleme. In ’n studie deur Resolution, ’n vereniging van gesinsprokureurs in Engeland en Wallis word die opvoeding van tweederdes van 14-16-jariges wie se ouers geskei is, negatief beïnvloed en een uit sewe het erken dat die spanning rondom hul ouers se egskeiding hulle tot dwelms of alkohol gedryf het. ’n Vyfde van hierdie kinders het ook nooit weer een of meer van hul grootouers gesien nie. In reaksie op hierdie verslag, sê Sir Paul Coleridge, stigter van The Marriage Foundation: “Kinders presteer bykans nooit volgens hul hoogste potensiaal wanneer hul emosionele lewe chaoties is nie en ’n ineenstorting van die gesinstruktuur is die hoofbydraende faktor. Hoeveel meer studies en statistiek het ons nodig voor ons almal, insluitende die regering, wakker word en hierdie kwessie
ernstig opneem? Dit is so onregverdig teenoor die kinders en hul kanse in die lewe.” Die uitwerking van egskeiding op kinders is ook langdurig. Navorsing toon dat altesaam 70 persent van langtermyn gevangenes grootgeword het in gebroke huishoudings en dat mense uit gebroke huise twee keer so geneig tot selfmoord is as diégene wat nie uit gebroke huise kom nie. Die kinders van geskeide ouers sal
moeiliker ’n vaste werk kan kry en behou. Hulle is ook meer geneig om tiener-ouers te word en hul lewensverwagting is korter. Ongelukkig word die onstabiliteit van huwelike dikwels oorgedra van een generasie na ’n volgende en daarom is die huidige skeisyfer ook beduidend op wat voorlê vir ons toekomstige generasies, tensy ouers die erns hiervan besef. Phishing and fraud scams are methods of deceitfully obtaining personal information such as passwords, identity numbers and credit card details by calling, sending emails or cell phone messages, that look like they come from trusted sources, such as banks or legitimate companies. Typically, these emails or cell phone messages request that users click on a link in the email, which will direct users to a spoofed website – a site designed to fool users into thinking that it is legitimate – to obtain, verify or update contact details or other sensitive f inancial information. These emails and messages also contain a telephone number and contact person whom you should call, as you are promised

Remember that no bank will ever ask you to confirm or update your account details by email. Never provide your online ID, password or PIN to anyone and never write them down or share them. Do not save your internet banking password on your desktop. Do not leave your computer unattended after you have entered your internet banking password. Always log off or sign off at the end of a session. Avoid doing internet banking in public areas such as internet cafés, or on any computer that can be accessed by people you do not know. Change your PIN and passwords frequently.

Sy het genoem hoe elke kind ‘n behoefte het aan ‘n sagte speelding.
Desiree Human het met die dames die Engelse skrywer van die jaar, Lauren Beukes behandel. Nina Nel die streekvoorsitster het die dames besoek. Audit for sport & recreation The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality (EMM) is on a drive to collate a database of all sport and recreation organisations that exist within the region and has launched the Ekurhuleni Sport and Recreation Structures Audit 2015. The mission of the EMM’s Sport and Recreation Division is to contribute to the development of the community through the provision of excellent sport and recreation services and programmes. In order to achieve this, it is necessary for the Metro to compile a comprehensive database containing all of the relevant information about its stakeholders and community structures that are involved in sport and recreation programmes. “This information will be used to determine the status of sport and recreation in Ekurhuleni and will also determine the way forward with regards to how the Metro can support programmes and events taking
place in Ekurhuleni,” explains Ekurhuleni spokesperson Themba Gadebe. “This will also ensure that we make an effective contribution towards enhancing the quality of life of our communities partaking in such activities.” Audit registration forms are available at all Ekurhuleni Customer Care Centres (CCC) and libraries as well as on the EMM website www.ekurhuleni.gov.za. The Market’s, Steve Ramoshaba, said the reason for starting the Foodbank is to alleviate hunger through donations of fruit and vegetables to non-prof it organisations (NPO). “Currently, 1600 benef iciaries benef it from the Foodbank. The idea came as a result of availability of surplus seasonal fruit and vegetables within the market, which sometimes are discarded if not bought within a specified period of time,” said Ramoshaba. In making a difference in residents’ lives, however, the Foodbank has challenges of transport and budget limitations. “We would therefore like to strengthen this process

The modern day love for these annuals may no longer be necessarily divine or supernatural, but it’s for equally good reasons! They’re prolific bloomers that require as little pampering as possible and are hard as nails. Nigel Rugby Klub se eerste span spog met ‘n uitstekende rugbyseisoen met 31 oorwinnings in ‘n ry wat hul eerste op die “log” geplaas het. Die eerste rugbyspan het behoorlik die tonge aan die praat gehad met die oorwinnings wat hul hierdie seisoen behaal het. Die hoofafrigter is Evert Jacobs en hulpafrigter, Hansie van Wyk wat dit beide eens het, dat die eerstes hul die jaar uitstekend van hul taak gekwyt het. Die span was onoorwonne maar kon ongelukkig nie die knoop deur haak nie en verloor Saterdag se wedstryd teen Eastrand United naelskraap met 54-51 op Kempton Park se velde. Tydens halftyd het Nigel voorgeloop en die laaste 10 min van die wedstryd het die manne al hul kragte ingespan en kry hul oponente die oorhand en wen die wedstryd. Eastrand United het met beseringstyd wat beskikbaar was die wen drie van die wedstryd aangeteken. Die eerste moes tevrede wees om die seisoen af te sluit as naaswenners. Die tweedes maak skoop skip en is aangewys as die ligawenners van die seisoen. Donderdag, 3 September om 19:00 hou Nigel Rugby Klub hul algemene jaareind vergadering alle belangstellendes is welkom.
