Hoop vir kanaal-tonnel Die Rekord het verlede week weereens met DA Raadslid Wally Labuschange vergader aangaande die besmette kanaal, wat veral die ingang tot ons dorp, die aangrensende Eeufees Park en ander woongebiede ontsier. Die onhigiëniese toestand van die kanaal is ‘n kopseer en het veral die afgelope tyd tot groot frustrasie onder inwoners gelei. Op Dinsdag 25 Augustus is daar weer met amptenare van die Paaie Departement van Ekurhuleni en ander belanghebbendes vergader om verslag te ontvang aangaande die vordering. Volgens Ekurhuleni, en daar was eenstemmigheid daaroor, is die taak op hande nie so eenvoudig soos dit mag lyk nie maar hulle is oortuig dat sukses net om die draai 1ê. Eerstens is daar die kwessie van gas, water en riool pyplyne wat in ag geneem moet word. Onderhandelinge met Gaskor en Rand Water is gedoen en goedkeuring is verkry om voort te gaan met opruiming van die kanaal. Kort nadat die eerste masjien “te water” gelaat is, het ‘n gedeelte van die beton bodem ingestort, die masjien is beskadig en moes onttrek word en is tans in die Ekurhuleni werkswinkels vir hertelwerk.
Om ‘n herhaling hiervan te voorkom word beplan om die betrokke masjien met ‘n hyskraan op ‘n ander gedeelte waar die bodem hopelik sterker is neer te laat vanwaar opruiming hopelik kan begin. Die opruiming onder die parkeergonde in die SBG blyk ook ‘n probleem te wees aangesien die toerusting wat gebruik word nie in daardie beperkte spasie sal kan funksioneer nie. Verteenwoordigers van Eeufees Park was egter pro-aktief en het die vergadering meegedeel dat hulle reeds met Nigelse Departement Korrektiewe Dienste (Gemeenskapskorreksie) in gesprek getree het om van hul gevangenis wat tans onder korrektiewe toesig verkeer te gebruik. Die amptenare van Ekurhuleni het hul dank hieroor uitgespreek en ‘n opvolg vergadering waar die twee partye die wetlike, personeel kwessies, sowel as wedersydse aanspreeklikheid sal hanteer is reeds bevestig. Ekurhuleni het onderneem om tydens die opvolg vergadering die gemeenskapsverteenwoordigers in te lig oor hul toekomstige onderhouds planne om ‘n herhaling te voorkom.

Petition The DA handed a petition to Parliament for the East Rand Child Welfare and sent a copy to the South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC). Over 2000 signatures were collected demanding that the Department of Social Development fund East Rand Child Welfare organisations must be paid in full for services they provide on behalf of government obliged by law. The DA would like to thank all the people that took the time to sign the petition as many East Rand Child Welfare organisa-
tions are facing crippling f inancial shortages with government underfunding them by between 50% - 77%. The next step is for the Portfolio Committee on Social Development to deal with the petition and for the SAHRC to consider the weight of the petition with regard to their current investigation into the gross underfunding of children services. The DA will continue monitoring this matter and will provide feedback to the public.
Sooner than later I am not sure about you but most people procrastinate over things that they are scared of or do not like doing. As I was sitting at the doctor this morning to have a skin cancer cut out I wished that I had gone sooner as the cut would have been smaller and less painful. I had some time to think about what I felt and had to learn a lesson that I so often tell others to do. So I decided to write this down to maybe help some folk but also to help myself remember to do what I suggest others must do. Let us start with the skin cancer. The fact is that it will not just go away. The same with a tooth ache, a lump in the breast, a prostate problem/test, a pap smear….the list just goes on and on. So, why not get it checked out (or in my case) removed quicker so that you can put it behind you. The reality is that while you are ignoring or denying the problem there is a constant nagging at the back of your mind (you know that it is going to have to be done sooner or later) and this nagging leads to stress and irritability. The other point is that if you see to something earlier it could actually be cured rather than become a big problem. An example is a tooth ache. A smaller hole is easier to repair than a massive “crater” which could end up needing the tooth to be removed or a root canal treatment. What about the things that you do not like doing. Once again the reality is that it will

Rev Goddess, Heidelberg Methodist Church have to be done some time so why not do it now and relax without the constant nagging knowledge that there are things that need to be done and you have not done anything about them. The danger of not doing what needs to be done is that when you finally get to do them you find that you either rush or do not do the job properly. Why not make a list of all the things that you need to do, put dates to each item and then make sure that you do them by that date. I promise you will feel better and obviously if it is something that needs to be done for your spouse or family your work will be appreciated and hopefully acknowledged. We have enough stress in the world….why not clear the small niggles and reduce the stress on your life…..

‘n Trokkie onderweg na Dunnottar op die R51, by Nigel begrafplaas, het Donderdag, 3 September met n taxi gebots. Volgens die bestuurder van die trokkie het hy regs uitgeswaai vir ‘n voertuig wat skielik voor hom rem aangeslaan het. Met die aksie bevind hy hom voor ‘n taxi wat na Nigel onderweg was. Die taxi het na links uitswaai om ‘n botsing te vermy en is regs agter getref. Daar was geen beserings nie.
THE POLICYHOLDER’S PRIMARY CONCERN Short-term insurance policyholders need to recognize that insurance brokers / intermediaries are not qualified as valuators or assessors! The importance of establishing the value of assets (The principle of underinsurance) For instance: If you have indicated to the insurance company that the total worth of your home content is R150 000, but at the time of a claim an assessor appointed by the insurance company determines that the total value of one‘s assets is in fact R300 000, then the insurance company will view this as that the policyholder chose to insure only half the value of his / her assets. This will then be applied to any claim: e.g. if a TV worth R1 000 was stolen, the insurer will only pay R500. This normally referred to as “averaging”. The value of a specific item insured This is of particular interest when insuring motor vehicles. Short-term insurance contracts do allow for different values that one can insure an item at, for instance market value, replacement value or agreed value. Each option comes with its own premium and conditions. Discuss this with your broker or intermediary. Specified items Insurers insist that certain items should not be insured under general home content. These would normally be valuables that can be taken out of the home or artworks, antiques and collectables. When insuring specified items, insurers will normally require certification of such item, e.g. in the case of jewelry it should describe such piece in terms of material, weight and real market value. Insurers will normally also require proof of ownership like an invoice or other evidence that it was acquired by the policyholder. Suspect linked to at temped murder A 22 year old male suspect was arrested for possession of dagga and dangerous weapon cases respectively. Sector Commanders, W/O Lukas Wolmarans and Sgt Vusumuzi Zondo received information about a suspicious suspect along Begeman Street walking towards Pretorius Street, Heidelberg on September 2, 2015. The two Sector Commanders patrolled the mentioned streets and spotted the suspect walking. Police requested to search the young man and found dagga wrapped in a
white paper in his trouser pocket and also a hunting knife. He was arrested. Whilst Police were interviewing him, it was detected that he is the suspect who committed business robbery and attempted murder at Cornerstone Lodge at Cnr. Strydom and van der Westhuizen Street on August 20. He stabbed a business owner with a knife on his hand and chest. Arrested suspect will appear before Heidelberg Magistrate Court soon.

1 Corinthians 9:24 Don’t you realize that in a race everyone runs, but only one person gets the prize? So run to win! 25All athletes are disciplined in their training. They do it to win a prize that will fade away, but we do it for an eternal prize. 26So I run with purpose in every step. I am not just shadowboxing. 27I discipline my body like an athlete, training it to do what it should. Otherwise, I fear that after preaching to others I myself might be disqualif ied. (NLT) Every person born on Earth is called to run the race of life. As with everything, we can choose how we engage in the race. Many of us are like athletes ambling around on the track instead of being focused, determined and completely dedicated to our goal – to win the race. Since our prize is not temporary in nature, it is all the more important to dedicate our full attention to what we do so that the goal – to connect every lost person to God, can be successfully obtained. In 1 Corinthians 9:19-27 Paul encourages the church to run the race they are in in such a way that it will honour God – settling for nothing less than what would produce victory in the end. Professional athletes set their goal to win first and foremost in their lives. Not only the time they train, but also every other thing they are involved in centers around what they need to do or refrain from doing in order to succeed. Likewise we need to be single-mindedly focused on obtaining the prize. Paul gives a few pointers as to what exactly is required to do this: • Run with purpose (1 Corinthians 9:26): In order to succeed we need to know with certainty where we are, where we want to be and what we need to do to get there. Unless we have absolute clarity with regards to our goal, we will not have the capacity to obtain it. We have to run with the intention of winning. Defeat is not an option – God provided everything needed for us to achieve the goal set before us. Confusion sets in when we do not want to meet the standard set by the Word. The moment disobedience becomes an option in our minds, confusion starts ruling in our hearts. Successful athletes are single-minded. Successful Christians make the purpose of God for their lives the first and foremost priority in everything.
• Discipline the flesh (1 Corinthians 9:2427): Success goes hand-in-hand with discipline. In order to be successful we cannot be subject to what our bodies want. The Bible cautions against being ruled by the flesh numerous times. Just like dedicated athletes have to be disciplined in what they eat, how much they sleep and train regardless of how they feel or what their bodies want, we have to determine what the will of God is and then do whatever it takes to obtain those outcomes. In pursuit of our victory, we are not at liberty to be lead by emotions or comfort. Our bodies are subject to the assignment and therefore not the determining factor in what we do or don’t do. Submission to the flesh in someone that runs to win causes a discrepancy that preempts sure defeat. In our walk with the Lord this causes us to speak right whilst failing to do right. Since we work for the ultimate prize of people’s salvation, it is clear that this kind of lifestyle will destroy credibility and so disqualify us as soul winners. • A life of dedication (1 Corinthians 9:19): Born from his freedom in Christ, Paul made a choice to become a servant to every person he encountered. He willingly dedicated his entire life, every action, every word, to winning the lost. The very essence of who he was centered around what he wanted to accomplish. It became a life mission rather than an occasional action. In the same manner, we need to become dedicated, sold out and completely devoted to consistently do whatever we need to do in order to pave the way for people to be saved. Our prize is not a temporary trophy. We are running to win the lost. Jesus paid the ultimate price in pursuit of making salvation possible for all. As children of the Father, in the image of Christ, we should have as our life goal, our most important priority, the very reason we breathe, to see people saved. Anybody that lives like this becomes a source of life to all. A life lived in wisdom, is a life focused on soul winning. Be challenged this week to make the changes necessary – let go of the burdens, embrace the discipline – so as to run the race in such a way that it will bring honour to the One who saved us and whom we love!

Accident a Truck from EJV Transport hit a white Opel Mervia at the robot on the R42 near the Wimpy. According to the driver of the Opel she was heading towards The Angelo Mall and stopped at the red robot. Once the robot was green she pull off and a truck travelling from the opposite direction turned in front of her. She tried to turn to the left to avoid an accident. The truck driver tried to catch the green arrow but when it changed to a normal green light, the driver continued to go forward due to the speed he was going. The truck collided into the Opel, damaging the entire front of the vehicle writing it off. Adrienne had her little boy with her in the Opel. She wants to thank the people who supported and helped them.

A 66 years old pensioner Mrs Johanna Francina Willemse born 01-01-1949 resident of 41 Viljoen Street, Heidelberg, went missing on Saturday August 29 at 11:00. She was driving her gold Toyota Tazz with registration number TBN 189 GP. She never returned back home. She left home without informing anyone in the house where she was going. She is 1.6m tall, weighing 68kg, grey short hair, average build, oval face, sharp chin, blue eyes and she was wearing glasses with a gold frame. The description of clothing is not known. She is on high blood pressure chronic medication, She had a stroke during April 2014 and she showed signs of personality change. Head on collision Two middle aged males died after a head on collision on the R550 at Rooikraal Farming Area on August 21 at about 12:30. It is alleged that the white Nissan NP200 pulling a trailer with doves inside collided head on with a white Toyota Hilux 4x4. The driver of the white Toyota 4x4 was airlifted to Union Hospital in Alberton for further medical treatment, whilst the driver of the white Nissan NP 200 and his passenger died while receiving medical treatment on the scene.
CRIME Robbed Three suspects aged between 28 and 31 years were arrested for armed robbery along Schoeman Street, Heidelberg on August 29, 2015, at about 02:15. Constable Moleboheng Malahle and Cst Vusi Mashabane were patrolling the industrial area when they saw 3 guys assaulting and kicking another male who was lying on the ground and speedily went to stop the fight. On arrival at the incident, the 3 guys ran away in different directions, 2 were arrested immediately and the other suspect was chased an apprehended. The police interviewed the victim who explained that he was robbed of a bottle of Three Ships Whiskey, his wallet and Nokia cell phone at knife point. Arrested suspects will appear before Heidelberg Magistrate Court soon.

Restaurant robbed at gunpoint A Chinese National Businessman, his wife and brother were robbed in their restaurant in Schoeman Street, Heidelberg on September 1, 2015, at about 19:50. It is alleged that while they were in the restaurant, three suspects, two armed with firearms entered the restaurant hold them at gunpoint and demanded money. The owner was forced to open the till and an undisclosed amount of money was taken. They also took a cell phone and laptop, fled in an unknown direction. Two suspects aged 30 years were arrested for business robbery at Tolbos Supermarket in Plein Street, Rensburg, Heidelberg on August 28, 2015, at about 19:15. A 36 years old Pakistani national was at his supermarket busy working when a 30 year old male suspect entered the shop as a customer. The suspect pointed a firearm at him and demand money. The suspect took two hundred rand notes and ran. The shop owner gave chase and informed the Fidelity Guard patrol vehicle. A silver Opel Corsa intend to pick-up the suspect was cornered and the suspects were arrested. The Acting Station Commander and Visible Policing Commander Lt. Col. Amanda Viljoen said that the police and security companies must stand together to fight crime. Arrested suspects will appear before Heidelberg Magistrate Court soon.
An African male Sphamandla Shezi was accused of robbing a 21 year old female on November 7, 2014 while she was going to work. The victim was on her way to work near Elma f illing station where two male suspects questioned her. The suspect demanded to see the contents of her bag. She refused and he threatened to stabbed her with a knife. He took her hand bag, cellphone and R1000 cash. The suspect was arrested on the same day and was never given bail. He was found guilty and sentenced to 15 years imprisonment on Monday, July 27 2015, without an option of a fine. He was also declared unfit to possess a firearm for the rest of his life. Ons leer twee soorte christene ken as ons kyk na die gelykenis van die tien maagde. Alhoewel die een groep uitgebeeld word as slim en deurdag, word die ware les geleer uit vyf belangrike foute wat deur die ander vyf, die sogenaamde dwase begaan is. Eerstens merk ons dat die hoorders nie ernstig was nie. Die uitnodiging was maar net een van vele waaraan hulle gewoond was, en hulle het geweet dat so ‘n bruilof vir ten minste ‘n paar dae sou aanhou. Hulle het moontlik geredeneer: Ons kan deel word wanneer dit ons pas. Hulle het nie gelet op die dringendheid waarmee die bruidegom die uitnodiging gestuur het nie. Woman in blue Women’s Day 9th August commemorates the day when South African women of all races and walks of life , marched to the Union Building in Pretoria in 1956 protesting against apartheid laws. Wrapping August Month, on Friday 201508-28, Women from Saps Balfour Cluster Stations comprising of four stations,
donated sanitary towels to female learners at Modderbult farm and Vusumuzi primary schools. At about 12:00, a roadblock was staged near R51 towards Nigel under the command of Cluster Commander Lt Col KM Mbokane where 50 cars were stopped and searched.

After the project was announced, the public was informed that the “soil turning” ceremony would take place in March 2015. During the Council Meeting of 26 February 2015, you indicated the date for the “sod turning” will be announced during your State Of The City Address, this was unfortunately not the case. You will agree that due to the delay residents are beginning to doubt whether the project is on track. Could you please a. Supply the reasons why the project has been delayed and b. When will this long awaited development get off the ground. 2. During November 2013 my comments were solicited. Information contained in the covering schedule indicated that 8,300 jobs will be created during the construction phase and 22,000 jobs after implementation! The latest information by Gibela’s CEO reads as follows “when the facility is up and running it will provide employment for at least 1,500 people, the majority of whom will be skilled artisans” He further states that “Preference will be given to those who have academic qualifications, as well as skilled artisans.: Please indicate a. Where has the other 28,800, jobs disappeared to? And b. Why are no numbers and employment opportunities mentioned for unskilled and unemployment men and women in need of training and empowerment? 3. Why have no tender notices and/or requests for proposals by the local community been issued by PRASA/ GIBELA? 4. What recruitment Agency has been appointed to work with the Department Of Labour in order to involve the local community?

In a letter dated 24 February 2014, written by Mr. Manyane Chidi from Ekurhuleni Real Estate Dept., permission was granted to PRASA to occupy the land with immediate effect. Please explain a. Why no rental payments have been forthcoming from the Lessee as nowhere in any Council Item is PRASA/ GIBELA exempted from the monthly rental of R79,800.00 (Including VAT) for the next two years and b. Please supply the starting date when, according to spokesperson Themba Gadebe payment for rent will commence. Please also supply a copy of the Lease Agreement where this arrangement is agreed upon. 7. According to the Auditor General’s latest report on PRASA’s f inances, an amount of R17milion was paid in lieu of rent for the land in question despite the fact that no lease agreement could be produced by this state organ, to justify the amount. Please explain why and for what purpose this amount has been paid to EMM. 8. Is the Honourable Mayor aware of a group called “The Unemployed People’s Co-Operative Federation Of South Africa” enrolling unemployed people at R25.00 per member in order to be placed on the organisation’s data list to be considered for jobs with PRASA/GIBELA?

Laerskool Tini Vorster se meisies jukskei A1-span spog met die derde agter een volgende jaar met die wen trofee. Hierdie spannetjie weet hoe om die skeie te gooi. Hulle is Jennifer Engelbrecht, Jo-Lin Grobler, Beulha van Zyl en Johane Grobler.
Laerskool Tini Vorster het vyf jukskei spanne die seisoen aan die liga laat deel neem. Alle spanne het uitstekend gevaar. Die seuns A2-span behaal tweede plek en hul span is Zhaan Haasbroek, Ruan Lombard, Armand Nortje, Ruan Koekemoer en Gedineo Harmse. Die uitblinkers is Beulha van Zyl, Frans Uys en Armand Nortje. Laerskool Tini Vorster jukskei dogters wat derde plek behaal het.
Die gemengde span het ook ‘n eerste plek behaal. Aiden du Toit, Marko Malan, Esmari Pieterse, Brigitte van Schalkwyk, Karlu Stander.

Boere broers van Nigel word as jongboer van die jaar 2015 gekroon. Pieter en Jacob van der Westhuizen alom bekende boere van Nigel is trots om lede te wees van die TLU SA en Nigel Boere Unie. Pieter en Jacob vertel dat dit ‘n pluimpie vir Nigel is, dat hulle die 2014 jongboer van die jaar, Johan Pistorius, opvolg. Hul bedank al die rolmodelle in hul lewe, veral hul ouers vir hul voorbeeld en ondersteuning. Jacob sê die landbou is ‘n moeilike bedryf en die volgehoue ondersteuning van inset verskaffers, landboukundiges en ander tegniese personeel is krities belangrik vir sukses. Hulle is dankbaar teenoor TLU SA wat ‘n voorloper is wat veg vir die voortbestaan van elke boer. Die volgehoue produksie van veilige, voedsel van goeie kwaliteit en eiendomsreg van die private individu. Min mense besef dat beoogde onteieningswetgewing nie net boere raak nie, maar ook groot implikasie vir elke Suid Afrikaner kan
inhou. Hulle maan boere en lede van die publiek om betrokke te raak en aan te sluit by hul plaaslike boere unie. Die jongboer, onder 35 jaar, moet betrokke raak en aansluit. Skryf in vir die jongboer kompetisie. Dit is wanneer jy baie van jouself leer en hoe om jou boerdery nog te verbeter. Derick Kuun, die voorsitter van die TLU vir jongboere het saam met ander lede die evaluasie gedoen om te bepaal wie die jongboer van die jaar toekenning vir 2015 ontvang.
